Shopping Center e a problemática ambiental : o caso do Bourbon Wallig em Porto Alegre/RS

Lima, Luis Marcelo Bolo January 2013 (has links)
The issues of the environment and nature as a whole, such as preservation, ecosystems conservation, forests , rivers, liquids, gases and solid waste discharges and the placement of polluting elements in the land, air and water are issues of extreme and extensive dissemination and discussion through out the media, at the academy and society as a whole. Because of the population concern about this issue, they are becoming sensitized and fearful about it. They eventually will become victimized by the environmental degradation that has had a latent increase as time goes by. People and companies gradually have become more aware of their participation in the process of environment degradation in which they are living. This is making everyone aware of their attitude towards the environment. Companies have been increasingly pressured by the media and society and more restrictive laws are finding themselves obligated to act very cautious, concerned and consistent about the environment. They are applying business strategies in order to comply with environmental issues without disregarding their profitability and earnings which are essential in the logistic of the capitalist business model. This research aims to understand which steps and legal ways the mall companies and stores established in the town of Porto Alegre , Rio Grande do Sul State, more precisely at the Bourbon Shopping Wallig were needed and followed by this enterprise implementation project. It also aims to understand the mitigation and compensation towards the environmental impact that they have caused, all based upon professional studies. Due to the complete landscape changed during the mall construction, this research also wants to prove if the construction techniques had followed all legal regulations and rules that are required by law. Furthermore , one should consider if the practical results of this enterprise had been achieved after completion. We should also evaluate the efficacy, the real results, media, market manifestations, opinions and in a grand spectrum if the environmental worries had been respected and fulfilled.

The Death and Life of Great American Malls: (Un)Spectacular Creative Destructions, Luxury Mixed-Use Developments, and Gentrification in Dallas-Fort Worth

Kirk, Richard L. 05 1900 (has links)
Mall after mall was built in American cities, exhaustively emulated by developers often working in concert with civic governments. In service of capital, neoliberal urban governance engages in the risky subsidization of spatio-spectacle production, working together with private business entities to bolster tax revenue and aid in private capital accumulation. The extensive replication of malls in close geographic proximity to one another across the American landscape, erected through the neoliberal partnerships of civic governments and private business interests, has greatly contributed to mall decline and mall death. There is now, however, a new spatio-spectacle that has arisen to take the place of the "great American shopping mall"—the luxury mixed-use development. These luxury mixed-use projects have been adopted as a new trend within urban development following the reality of sweeping mall decline and are proliferating across the (sub)urban landscape. Luxury mixed-use developments, I argue, are merely a continuation of late capitalism's problematic spectacle fetish. Moreover, this process is revealed to be inextricably entangled with gentrification, driven by cities' neoliberal desires to become/maintain status as global, "world-class" cities, performed through the spatialized ideology of neoliberal multiculturalism.

The Use of Mobile Assisted Language Learning for Vocabulary Acquisition in the English Classroom / Användningen av MALL för att utvidga ordförrådet i det Engelska Klassrummen

Holmberg Svensson, Line, Sinclaire, Emma January 2022 (has links)
The increased need for digital education in upper secondary schools of Sweden during the COVID-19 outbreak showcased that there is a lack of professional knowledge in regards to what tools to use in order to vary the experience for the students in a virtual teaching environment. In this paper, we investigate whether Mobile-Assisted Language Learning (MALL) could assist English vocabulary acquisition of Swedish upper secondary students and what their attitudes are towards it. By finding and synthesizing studies that have been published on MALL in regards to vocabulary acquisition, we hoped to gauge the possible outcomes of applying it in Swedish classrooms as well. The majority of the analyzed studies showed positive results on both vocabulary acquisition and the students' attitudes. However, the methods of the experiments and the attitude questionnaires, along with the innate cultural differences, made us question whether we would see the same results in Swedish schools, but when considering the curriculum, the empirical evidence and learning theories, we still found enough relevancy and validity in the method to claim that MALL could work to assist vocabulary acquisition in the English classroom of Swedish upper secondary school.

DŮM NA ÚPATÍ - MĚSTSKÝ DŮM V HISTORICKÉM CENTRU BRNA / HOUSE ON THE FOOTHILL - TOWN HOUSE IN THE HISTORICAL CENTRE

Dvořáková, Eva January 2013 (has links)
The main objective of the master´s thesis was a design of the town house in the complicated topografical situation of the foothill of Pekařská street. The topography of the building site is influenced by its surroundings. The street Pekařská is lowering from east to west, but the road Anenská is rising from east to west. The biggest difference between the the lowest and the highest point of the site is 7,5 m. This situation enables to design three entrances to three different floors of the building. An outstanding point of the design of the house is a composition axis which is running up Pekařská street. The town house is facing this axis thus the main entrance of the house is accented. There was a compact house designed, which takes advantage of its very good position – there is a two-floor solution with a shopping mall. The hall in its middle is opening over two floors and it is lightened through a roof lightwell. On this platform is situated an „L“ shaped part of the building, which creates a protection against very noisy Pekařská street. The house is opening its form to the south, to a sunny roof garden. This garden is opened only for inhabitants of the house. The garden improves the quality of the living in the house and substitutes a green area, which used to be in this place. The shape of the building is lowering down from Pekařská street to Anenská road. There are some terraces designed this way to improve the living in the roof apartments and provide a beatiful view to the west.

Processen för framtagande av klimatdeklaration för hallbyggnader / The process of production of climate declaration for hall buildings

Adde, Abdifatah, Lagoun, Hassen January 2022 (has links)
Climate change has resulted in several actors in various industries starting to take into account how their business activities affect the environment. The Swedish Parliament has set a climate target that is intended to be achieved by 2045. More specifically, the goal means that Sweden should  have no net emissions of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. In 2019, Sweden's construction and real estate sector accounted for nationwide  greenhouse gas emissions, corresponding to approximately 12 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent, which means that the specified sector can have a major impact on the environment. Climate declarations are a term used in various contexts that report a building's climate impact. Climate declarations are carried out only for the construction stage, of which it has been divided into  two subcategories:  the product stage (A1-A3) and the construction production stage (A4-A5) (Boverket, 2021).  The study illustrates how the process can be done when producing climate declarations. In addition, a template has been designed  that  shows how  much carbon dioxide equivalents building elements emit. The study consisted of interview questions that were answered by six different companies with different roles and similar views in sustainable construction. The respondents  that have been interviewed in the study are sales engineer Krister Andersson from the company Ruukki, environmental and sustainability manager Alexandra Rosenqvist from Beijer Byggmaterial, business development manager Linda Hedvall from Lindab,  chief executive officer  Oscar Hoolmé from Jacob Lindh AB and constructor Samir Goralija from Areco Profiles. Furthermore, structured interview questions have been prepared and asked to the above-mentioned companies, such as how do companies stand before the  climate  declaration  act? What measures will be taken to comply with the law? How has the law been affected in the business and what measures will be taken both short- and long-term? The companies that have been interviewed point out that an EPD is only based on the construction phase of the A-module at present. The companies want a complete EPD with modules from A-D where the entire life cycle analysis is taken into account. This is in order to get a clearer picture of how much carbon dioxide equivalents a hallbuilding generates. Within the framework of the study, the template has also been tested on an industrial building located in Eslöv municipality.  The template was used to calculate how much carbon dioxide equivalents a hallbuildings climate screen generates. The results showed that the entire building's climate screen emits 58,065 kilo of carbon dioxide equivalents. Furthermore, it was shown  that both  traditional wall (41  kilo carbon dioxide equivalents per m2) and traditional roof (42 kilo carbon dioxide equivalents per m2) produce lower emissions than sandwich wall (60 kilo carbon dioxide equivalents per m2) and cardboard roof (71 kilo carbon dioxide equivalents per m2). The  problem with  the production of climate declarations is that today's climate database is unclear and  that  different construction companies  apply  different climate indicators, which makes it hard to compare.  Another  problem  is  that climate declarations only  apply to  the construction phase (A-module). This means that the rest of the building's life cycle assessment has not been taken into account, which delays the process of achieving specified climate goals. The conclusion  is  thus that the process of producing a climate declaration  is something new since there are no clear guidelines for how inputs  should  be chosen. However,  it was shown that the supplier  can with use of generic values can reduce its carbon dioxide emissions. This is done by choosing the right combination between building elements.

Prologue to performance

Garud, Jyutika T. January 1994 (has links)
"Having being fixed on paper or retained in the memory music exists already, prior to its actual performance differing in that respect from all the other arts. The musical entity thus presents the remarkable singularity of existing successively and distinctly in two forms separated from each other by the hiatus of silence. This peculiar nature of music determines its very life as well as it's repercussions in the social world for it presupposes two kinds of musicians: the creator and the performer." Igor Stravinsky This thesis is an investigation of how architecture becomes the threshold manifesting that hiatus of silence; preparing the spectator; preparing, reinforcing and introducing the spectacle, only to be completed by the final act, that of the performer. It is that in between through which one passes in anticipation and preparation. The form in which the creative phenomenon exists then becomes the prologue of the performance. / Master of Architecture

An investigation into the validity of mobile technologies as a support structure for first year students studying German as a foreign language in a South African context

Stander, Alison Gretchen 03 1900 (has links)
Thesis (MPhil (Modern Foreign Languages. Hypermedia for Language Learning))--University of Stellenbosch, 2011 / ENGLISH ABSTRACT: The high penetration rate of mobile devices all over the world, and especially in South Africa, has significantly increased the relevance of Mobile Assisted Language Learning (MALL). The objective of this study is to ascertain the viability of incorporating MALL technology to enhance the language learning experience of South African university students who are studying a foreign language. The students enrolled for the beginners’ German course at Stellenbosch University served as participants in this study, and surveys and interviews were used to establish their exposure to mobile devices, as well as their experiences in relation to the incorporation of Short Messages Service (SMS) into their German course. The results indicate that although the vast majority of students are mobile device owners, only a few students will embrace the idea of using these devices to improve their language skills without any incentive. Without constant motivation and encouragement to use mobile technologies, and the willingness from everybody involved in both teaching and learning a foreign language, mobile technology as a support structure cannot be implemented successfully.

關鍵字:SIP MALL (Silicon intellectual property MALL )、IDM (IC Design Manufacture )、矽智財(Silicon intellectual property )、系統單一晶片(System on chip )、 晶圓代工(Foundry )、SWOT(Strength、Weakness、Opportunity、Threat)、 積體電路(Integrated Circuit )、微控制器(Microcontroller ) / Abstract Economic development is very important foundation for our country surviving, and that propped up this foundation is exactly the electronic industry that our country has developed for many years, The establishment of the IC DESIGN HOUSE lets the electronic industry of our country transfer from OEM way to design and developed way. On the basis of the globalized business environment , if the IC DESIGN HOUSE should continue survival and development forever, not only pay attention to the influence brought of industry's environment but also that organize the inside from the tradition hard . the semiconductor industry meets three main evolutions since 1947, rising the SIP (Silicon Intelligently property ) industry, and the SIP is an extremely important favorable turn as to semiconductor industry of our country, So that our government establishs the project which name is “Silicon Island Project”, one of this project’s plan establishs the SIP MALL, expect to activate the trade of the SIP in order to promote new semiconductor industry's commercial value with the establishment of SIP MALL, and then improve the competitiveness of the semiconductor of our country. But IC DESIGN HOUSE of our country is used to doing "Me Too" products, most companies in our country suspect that SIP industry can survives in our country. The succeeding or not succeeding of SIP MALL is not relation with the SIP industry survive in our country, In Current stage, the SIP MALL in our country depends not only on the licensing model but also on technology integration, simulation & verification, the information disclosure, and contract service.SIP MALL it survives probability is very high because the tactics of two major foundries in our country have very great connection, and this situation till now that the semiconductor industry develops, two major foundries certainly will become IDM Foundry and will support one's own SIP MALL each. And this page discussion how SIP industry of probing into our country manage could survive , the overall environment, to SIP technological trade platform industry of our country, the choice including “niche market selection”,”core technology research and development ability” , “software company supporting” and four items of “the support of the system company”.The business value chains in our country such as IDM, IC DESIGN HOUSE and the system factory should take the lead in the specification of system standards in where R.O.C.’s industry has high market share, thus the SIP MALL may serve the purposes ofleveraging the system know how and successfully delivering the SOC products. To improve the SIP MALL operation, we also need to build up SIP identification, valuation and IPR management systems. In the meantime, it is also crucial to take advantage of emerging markets in China, as well as to create the territories of Star IP with killer applications. And this pager also indicate the car’s microcontroller, the showing device, saving the electricities , Menory device are niche market selection in our country’s SIP industry, and its is good and bad with SWOT analysis, It is this pager which is a little contribution to SIP’s industry of our country. Key Words:SIP MALL (Silicon intellectual property MALL )、SOC (System on chip )、 SIP (Silicon intellectual property )、IDM (IC Design Manufacture )、Foundry 、 SWOT(Strength、Weakness、Opportunity、Threat) 、IC (Integrated Circuit ) 、Microcontroller
