Employees' Role in Improving Information Systems Security

Information security is one of the most essential concerns in today’s organizations. IT departments in larger organizations are tasked to implement security, by both ensuring to have pertinent hardware and software, and likewise enlighten, teach and educate organization’s employees about security issues. The aim of this research is to focus on the human factor of the organization, which impacts the security of the information, since technological solutions of technical problems become incomprehensible without human recognition about security. If the security is not addressed in firms, this might lead to essential data of the organization to be compromised. This study explores ways to enhance information security and improve the human factor by integrating the crucial information security elements in organizations. Social constructivist worldview is adopted throughout the study, and an inductive based - qualitative approach, a single case study design and hermeneutical analysis for analyzing the observations and interviews are utilized. The research setting for this study is Växjö Municipality in Sweden. The empirical investigation suggests that human factor plays an essential role in maintaining information security, and organizations can improve employees’ role by keeping their security policies up to date and find the best ways to disseminate that information. As a result, this research comes up with “information security human management model” for organizations.

The aim of this thesis is to create a set of recommendations for the selected engineering enterprise. The purpose of these recommendations is to increase the enterprise effectivness and its adaptability quotient. In the first part of this thesis, based on a literature search, the management systems of successful Czech and foreign entrepreneurs are described. In the next part the most appropriate managerial approach is chosen on the basis of the performed qualitative research and this section also describes the current situation of the selected engineering enterprise. In the last part are given individual recommendations and steps to achieve their implementation.

Propuesta de un modelo de gestión de la demanda de TI para un Centro Militar Americano de Investigación de Enfermedades Epidemiológicas en el Perú / Proposal for an IT demand management model for an American Military Center for Epidemiological Disease Research in Peru

El objetivo general del presente trabajo de investigación es proponer un modelo de gestión de la demanda de TI que permita el adecuado soporte tecnológico a los protocolos de investigación desde su concepción hasta su finalización en la empresa seleccionada, la cual es un centro militar americano de investigación de enfermedades epidemiológicas en el Perú. En el primer capítulo se presenta el marco teórico, y se analiza los estudios de investigación clínica y epidemiológica, la literatura existente de la gestión de la demanda de TI, así como los marcos de trabajo (ISO 38500, COBIT 5.0, ISO/IEC 15504) y normativas disponibles (NIST SP 800-37, NIST SP 800-53). En el segundo capítulo, se realiza el análisis del problema identificándose los puntos de dolor en: recursos de TI, capacidad actual de TI, tiempo de respuesta, cumplimiento normativo y de políticas de gobierno de TI, financiamiento, y priorización; que han puesto en riesgo el 24% de financiamiento por acuerdos para ensayos clínicos con la organización pueda perderse debido a que el área de TI no ha tenido la capacidad de gestionar la demanda de los protocolos actuales de los clientes. En el tercer capítulo, se expone la propuesta de solución al problema, para lo cual se definen cinco secciones; siendo: Objetivos, evaluación de marcos de referencia, modelo de gestión de la demanda de TI actual, modelo de gestión de la demanda de TI propuesto y viabilidad de la propuesta. Finalmente, en el capítulo 4 se detallan las conclusiones asociadas al presente trabajo y recomendaciones. / The general objective of this research work is to propose an IT demand management model that allows adequate technological support to the research protocols from its conception until its completion in the selected company, which is an American military research center of epidemiological diseases in Peru. In the first chapter, the theoretical framework is presented, and clinical and epidemiological research studies, the existing IT demand management literature, as well as the frameworks (ISO 38500, COBIT 5.0, ISO / IEC 15504) are analyzed. ) and regulations available (NIST SP 800-37, NIST SP 800-53). Implementación de herramientas de transformación digital en la elaboración de informes de gestión de un proyecto de construcción de edificaciones

El presente trabajo de investigación tiene como objetivo presentar una nueva propuesta de modelo de gestión para herramientas de control de costos y de producción; en una obra de construcción de edificaciones, acorde con los cambios tecnológicos que se viven en el mundo entero producto de la cuarta revolución industrial. El modelo propuesto toma en consideración el trabajo colaborativo en la nube impulsado por la unión de nuevas herramientas digitales que nos permiten conocer el estado de la obra en tiempo real o lo más inmediato posible de tal manera que se minimicen los tiempos y costos en la gestión como en la ejecución elevando la productividad en la obra, tomando para este caso como referente el Resultado Operativo de Obra. Asimismo, se investiga entre profesionales expertos que reportes son los más buscados por las líneas de mando de tal manera que llegue la información precisa siendo parte en este caso del Reporte Semanal de Obra. La investigación arroja como resultado que la implementación de herramientas digitales no es solo usar los medios tecnológicos sino también requiere de un compromiso de todos los colaboradores de la empresa a través de un cambio en la filosofía sobre el desarrollo tecnológico que requiere implementar nuevas áreas, lo que se verá reflejados en beneficios económicos en el proceso de elaboración de los informes y principalmente en la ejecución de las partidas del proyecto. Asimismo, también concluimos que el uso de herramientas de transformación digital mejora la calidad de los procesos y la reputación de las Empresas que lo implementan. / The present research work aims to present a new management model proposal for cost and production control tools; in a building construction site, in accordance with the technological changes that are experienced throughout the world as a result of the fourth industrial revolution. The proposed model takes into consideration collaborative work in the cloud driven by the union of new digital tools that allow us to know the status of the work in real time or as immediately as possible in such a way as to minimize time and costs in management as in the execution raising the productivity in the work, taking for this case as reference the Operating Result of Work. Likewise, it is investigated among expert professionals which reports are the most sought after by the command lines in such a way that the precise information arrives, being part in this case of the Weekly Work Report. The research shows that the implementation of digital tools is not only to use technological means but also requires a commitment from all the company's collaborators through a change in the philosophy on technological development that requires implementing new areas, which which will be reflected in economic benefits in the process of preparing the reports and mainly in the execution of the project items. Modelo de gestión de crisis para organizaciones políticas del Perú / Crisis management model for Peruvian political organizations

Las organizaciones políticas en el Perú se encuentran en un momento crítico. El 93% de los electores, según la Corporación Latinobarómetro (2018), ha perdido confianza en ellas. Su imagen y reputación están generalmente asociadas con la corrupción. Y no es para menos. Los cuatro partidos políticos más influyentes de los últimos quince años han sido catalogados como organizaciones criminales por el Ministerio Público y enfrentan denuncias por el delito de lavado de activos. Sin embargo, la percepción negativa que tienen los públicos sobre los partidos políticos es en realidad resultado de las crisis, entendidas como situaciones adversas que afectan negativamente su imagen y reputación y, en consecuencia, dañan su relación con sus militantes y la confianza de sus electores, restándoles legitimidad, poder y participación en los asuntos públicos del país. Actualmente, en una época donde las tecnologías de la información y la comunicación están cada vez mejor desarrolladas, las agrupaciones políticas son particularmente vulnerables a las crisis, pues existe muy poca información o teoría sobre cómo deben gestionarse en este tipo de organizaciones. En ese sentido, el autor del presente trabajo de investigación asumió el desafío de diseñar un modelo de gestión comunicacional de crisis para organizaciones políticas. Para lograrlo fue necesario, en primer lugar, analizar cuatro casos: Partido Aprista Peruano, Partido Nacionalista Peruano, Peruanos Por el Kambio y Fuerza Popular. Comprender la naturaleza de estas agrupaciones y los tipos de crisis que enfrentaron, fue fundamental para elaborar la propuesta final. / Political organizations in Peru are at a critical moment. 93% of voters, according to Latinobarómetro Corporation (2018), have lost confidence in them. Their image and reputation are generally associated with corruption. It is not for less. The four most influential political parties of the last fifteen years have been classified as criminal organizations by the Public Ministry and face complaints for the crime of money laundering. However, the negative perception that the public has about political parties is actually the result of crises, understood as adverse situations that negatively affect their image and reputation and, consequently, damage their relationship with their militants and the trust of their voters, subtracting legitimacy, power and participation in the public affairs of the country. Currently, at a time when information and communication technologies are increasingly well developed, political groups are particularly vulnerable to crises, as there is very little information or theory on how they should be managed in these types of organizations. Therefore, the author of this research took on the challenge of designing a crisis communication management model for Peruvian political organizations. To achieve this, it was necessary, first of all, to analyze four cases: Partido Aprista Peruano, Partido Nacionalista Peruano, Peruanos Por el Kambio and Fuerza Popular. Efficiency of sustainable urban drainage systems during flash floods / Effektivitet av hållbara dagvattensystem vid skyfall

As the world’s population is migrating more into urban areas, landcover changes follow. Natural pervious areas are being converted to impervious areas, which when subjected to rain generates more stormwater runoff. Stormwater management is a problem that cities today are challenged with, infrastructure is getting older and precipitation patterns are changing due to climate change. Due to climate change extreme precipitation events are likely to increase and therefore increase the probability of urban flooding. Urban flooding can be caused by extreme precipitation events with a short duration, or so-called flash floods. These flash floods can overwhelm the drainage system in place which therefore can cause flooding. This problem has inspired engineers to rethink stormwater management, moving from traditional grey drainage systems to more green and sustainable drainage systems. Sustainable Urban Drainage System (SuDS) are drainage systems that aim to regain the properties of non-urbanised areas, retain the natural hydrological cycle, and have recreational values for the surrounding societies. This study investigated how different SuDS behave when subjected to flash floods. A model of a synthetic case study was built in the Storm Water Management Model (SWMM) and sustainable urban drainage systems implemented. The solutions investigated were bioretention cells, rain gardens, infiltration trenches, green roofs, and permeable pavements. Three different rain events were analysed, all with different precipitation depth but with the same duration of 1 hour. Results showed that bioretention cells could reduce runoff volumes to the highest extent while green roofs could reduce the peak runoff the most. Other results were analysed like efficiency and cost. Bioretention cell came out on top in efficiency but had the highest cost. Overall, all the solutions showed promise in reducing runoff during flash floods, but the reduction capacity goes down with increased precipitation. / När en större del av världens befolkning flyttar in till tätortsområden så medföljer en ändring av markytans beskaffenhet. Vanligtvis genomträngliga ytor omvandlas till hårdgjorda ytor vilket generar mer dagvattenavrinning när de utsätts för regn. Dagvattenhanteringen är en utmaning för många städer idag eftersom infrastrukturen blir äldre och nederbördsmönstren förändras på grund av klimatförändringar. Extrema nederbördshändelser väntas öka med anledning av dessa klimatförändringar och ökar därigenom sannolikheten för översvämningar i städer. Översvämningar i städer kan orsakas av korta nederbördshändelser med hög intensitet, så kallade Skyfall, vilket kan överbelasta dagvattensystemets kapacitet. Det har lett till att ingenjörer ändrat sitt tankesätt på hur dagvatten ska hanteras och börjat gå från konventionella till mer gröna och hållbara dräneringssystem. Hållbar dagvattenhantering är dräneringssystem som syftar till att använda egenskaperna hos naturliga områden, behålla det naturliga hydrologiska kretsloppet och skapa rekreationsvärden för de omkringliggande samhällena. Denna studie har undersökt hur olika hållbara dräneringssystem beter sig när de utsätts för översvämningar. En modell på en syntetisk fallstudie byggdes i Storm Water Management Model (SWMM) där hållbara dräneringssystem implementerades i en urban miljö. Lösningarna som undersöktes var biofilterbäddar, regnträdgårdar, infiltrationsbäddar, gröna tak och permeabla trottoarer. Tre olika nederbördshändelser analyserades, alla med olika nederbördsmängder men med samma varaktighet på en timme. Resultaten visade att biofilterbäddar kunde minska avrinningsvolymerna i största grad medan gröna tak minskade ytavrinningen mest. Effektivitet och kostnad analyserades också. Där visade biofilterbäddarna högst effektivitet men hade den högsta kostnaden. Sammantaget visade det sig att alla lösningar var lovande vad gäller minskning av avrinning under översvämningar, men reduktionskapaciteten minskar med ökad nederbörd.

Глобальный процесс цифровизации всех сфер человеческой жизни значительно ускорился за последние 20 лет в связи с активным развитием цифровых технологий. В последние несколько лет наметился тренд на экспансию современных технологий в образовательный процесс, которая значительно ускорилась в условиях пандемии COVID-19. Такое смещение акцентов в образовательной системе, очевидно, приводит к возникновению новых требований к образовательному процессу, образовательным учреждениям и преподавателям. В университетах нового типа – «цифровых университетах», образовательный процесс должен обеспечиваться преподавателями нового типа – «цифровыми преподавателями». Результат владения и использования цифровых средств в образовании при этом должен иметь значительное превосходство над результатом обучения без их использования. Цель работы – разработка моделей управления и проекта трансформации роли и компетенций преподавателя для повышения эффективности и качества обучения в цифровом университете. Научная новизна состоит в разработке новой модели организационной структуры образовательных организаций с учетом возможностей цифровых технологий для повышения эффективности и результатов обучения. Практическая значимость заключается в возможности применения результатов анализа путей трансформации роли преподавателя в структуре вуза и предложенной автором работы поддерживающей модели управления при структурных преобразованиях в университете. / The global process of digitalization of all spheres of human life has accelerated significantly over the past 20 years due to the active development of digital technologies. In the last few years, there has been a trend towards the expansion of modern technologies into the educational process, which has significantly accelerated in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Such a shift of emphasis in the educational system obviously leads to the emergence of new requirements for the educational process, educational institutions and teachers. In universities of a new type - "digital universities", the educational process should be provided by teachers of a new type – "digital teachers". The result of the possession and use of digital instruments in education at the same time should have a significant superiority over the result of learning without their use. The aim of the work is to develop management models and a project for transforming the role and competencies of a teacher to improve the efficiency and quality of teaching at a digital university. The scientific novelty consists in the development of a new model of the organizational structure of educational organizations, taking into account the possibilities of digital technologies to improve the efficiency and learning outcomes. The practical significance lies in the possibility of applying the results of the analysis of ways to transform the role of a teacher in the university structure and the supporting management model proposed by the author of the work during structural transformations at the university.

Gestion de la discipline en classe au collège : étude des pratiques et des représentations des enseignants à l’île de La Réunion / Unappropriate classroom behaviour management in middle school : study of teachers' practices and representations in Reunion Island

Depuis plusieurs années le système éducatif français peine à remplir sa mission auprès de tous les élèves. En outre, les comportements indisciplinés de ces derniers en classe viennent contrarier la tâche des enseignants et par conséquent la réussite scolaire des élèves. En l’absence de données sur la gestion par les enseignants de l’indiscipline des élèves en classe à l’île de La Réunion, cette recherche qualitative descriptive interroge, après les vagues successives de plans de lutte ministériels contre les comportements déviants à l’école initiée il y a plus de 20 ans, la place accordée au domaine de la gestion de classe dans le système éducatif français. Cette recherche vise à documenter : 1- le comportement des collégiens en classe ; 2- les connaissances et les pratiques de gestion de classe des enseignants ; et 3- leurs représentations quant à leur formation dans ce domaine. L’échantillon est composé de 47 enseignants de collège de Réseau d’Éducation Prioritaire renforcée (REP+) de La Réunion. Les résultats de cette recherche montrent l’ampleur du phénomène d’indiscipline dans certaines classes et semblent indiquer chez les enseignants, indépendamment de leur âge, de leur sexe et de leur ancienneté, un manque de connaissances au regard du phénomène d’indiscipline scolaire et des pratiques efficaces de gestion de classe. L’analyse des données suggère que ces lacunes s’expliquent entre autres par une formation insuffisante dans le domaine de la gestion de classe. Si cette recherche souligne l’importance majeure de la gestion de classe dans l’exercice du métier d’enseignant, elle invite également la communauté scientifique française à investir ce thème de recherche peu étudié en France et pourtant constitutif des sciences de l’éducation. / For several years, the French school system has shown some dysfunctions and has struggled to follow its school mission in instructing and educating all its students. Moreover, middle school students’ behavioural problems in class tend to interfere with teachers’ teaching task and as a consequence they tend to obstruct students’ success at school. This research takes place after the last 20 years of successive waves of plans undertaken from the French Ministry of education to address inappropriate behaviours at school. Since there is a lack of data in Reunion Island about teachers’ skills in dealing with students’ inappropriate behaviour in class, this descriptive and qualitative doctoral thesis questions the place given to classroom management in the French school system. This research aims at documenting: 1- middle school students’ behaviour in class; 2- teachers’ theoretical knowledge and practices in classroom management; 3- teachers’ representations pertaining to their training in classroom management. The sample ofrespondents includes 47 teachers in French public middle schools part of the Priority Education Network in Reunion Island. Results show the extent of the phenomenon of behavioural problems in some classes and seem to indicate a lack of teachers’ skills and teachers’ knowledge in classroom management regardless of their age, their gender and their length of service. The data analysis also indicates that one of the possible reasons for these results could be a lack of reservice and in-service teachers’ training in classroom management. This research joints to the fact that classroom management is a crucial part of the teaching profession. It also invites the French scientific community to invest the theme of classroom management since this theme is currently barely studied in France.

Para atender o objetivo, foram analisados 108 projetos realizados na empresa que serviu de base da pesquisa. Os resultados apurados de cada projeto foram classificados em quatro classes de projetos, conforme as características de cada equipamento. As comparações da mensuração dos custos foram apresentadas através de demonstrações de resultados por classe de projeto entre os dois métodos de custeio. Na análise dos resultados foi verificado, principalmente, o efeito destes no gerenciamento da empresa. Assim, o estudo classifica-se como uma pesquisa aplicada e quantitativa em relação ao tratamento dos dados dos projetos. O método hipotético-dedutivo empregado neste estudo, é em função das conjecturas testadas, ou seja, os métodos de custeio. Nas comp / This study aims to analyze the model of cost measuring, results and effects on the management model through the direct-costing method compared to the current costing method used in the studied company that is the absorption-costing method. In order to reach the target, one hundred and eight projects, carried out in the company, were analyzed. The results from each project were classified in four classes of projects, according to each equipment features. The comparisons of cost measuring were shown through income statements by class of project between the two costing methods, and by analyzing the results, it was possible to check mainly their effects on the company management. Thus, the study is classified as an applicable and quantitative research considering the data of the projects. From the inconformity of the existing management models appeared the Economic Management and Beyond Budgeting, the first, aiming organizational efficacy throughout the economic result, using the modern budget and the latter, through a flexible management denominated radical decentralization (empowerment), without budgets, having decisions taken by front line managers and elaborating a Rolling Forecast for economic planning. The problematic of this article was to accomplish a comparison between both, having the target to establish their main differences, and to validate the research it was applied Content Analysis technique, categorizing important expressions like management process, aiming the understanding of the proposal of the models facing the challenges of reaching organizational result and efficacy. Managerial tools, to visualize the tools available to managers, enabling them accomplish their mission. Information systems and decentralization complement the categories. The association of the key-words to the categories made clear the preoccupation of the Economic Management in relation to the management process, once 55.4% of the key-words are included in this category, against 26.3% from Beyond Budgeting. The power of Beyond Budgeting resides in managerial tools from where emerges 63.5% against 38.4%. The information systems with 6.3% are more important to the Economic Management, whereas decentralization with 8.6% is superior in Beyond Budgeting. It was denoted that both make use of budget, although under different denominations and under the auspices of this technique Economic Management was presented as a deductive, normative and descriptive model, seeking to support managers in their decision process through a strong concept basis, and Beyond Budgeting, inductive, originated from an empiric basis, from a research in organizations, establish a set of leadership principles and adaptive management and consider them as universal / As empresas, e o processo decisório em particular, são afetados pela nova dinâmica da economia, levando gestores, acadêmicos e investidores a buscarem novos modelos de gestão. Da inconformidade com os modelos de gestão existentes surgiram a Gestão Econômica e o Beyond Budgeting, o primeiro objetivando atingir a eficácia organizacional através do resultado econômico, usando o orçamento moderno e o segundo, através de uma gestão flexível, denominada de descentralização radical (empowerment), sem orçamentos, com as decisões tomadas pelos gerentes de linha de frente e elaborando o Rolling Forecast para planejamento financeiro. A problemática deste trabalho foi realizar uma comparação entre ambos, com o objetivo de estabelecer suas principais diferenças, e para validar a pesquisa aplicou-se a técnica de Análise de Conteúdo, categorizando expressões importantes como processo de gestão, para entender a proposta dos modelos frente aos desafios de atingir o resultado e eficácia empresarial.
