Efektivnost nakládání s textilním odpadem v České republice / Effectiveness of textile waste management

Dolejší, Gabriela January 2012 (has links)
The purpose of this master thesis is to address two main ways of dealing with used textile material in Czech Republic. It compares textile material as a component of a household waste with textile material as a component of a segregated waste. The main question that the thesis and the research done within it addresses is whether the costs, associated with textile waste management coming as the result of administrative tools and legislative action plans mounted to it, are not too high. Based on a calculated model of cost structure of both above mentioned variants their comparison could be performed. Analysis of its results pointed out, that under certain given conditions and assumptions the system of segregated waste collection is, despite its higher costs, effective. The outcome of this master thesis is proposed possible scenarios used to optimize textile waste management in the context of economic science methodology, available data and primary research questions.

Aude sapere - knowledge management and its implications for strategic management in organisations : an analysis of small and medium enterprises in New Zealand and the United Kingdom based on an original knowledge management model

Handtrack, Christian January 2009 (has links)
This study set out to provide important empirical evidence on the role of knowledge management (KM) within Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in New Zealand and the United Kingdom and to explore how such companies handle their planning and strategic choices. In today’s knowledge economies the management of knowledge has become vital. In the context of SMEs, this is even more critical because they often operate under difficult conditions and are subject to global pressures from large corporations and demanding customers. In spite of the significance of SMEs as essential for any nation’s growth and success, and even though many scholars and business managers claim that knowledge management is highly relevant for SMEs, there has been little research about this concept in SMEs, in general, and in New Zealand, in particular. The few studies in the literature conclude that this concept is mostly neglected by SMEs even though it is vital and has high potential benefits for them. A quantitative research method approach was adopted. Self-completion questionnaires were sent to the senior management of firms with 100 employees or less, from a cross-section of industries. As part of this process an original knowledge management model was developed. The basic research questions were deduced from this model and the items in the questionnaire were created to answer these research questions. In New Zealand, a total of 417 SMEs were contacted by mail and 180 useable questionnaires were returned. In the United Kingdom, 1268 SMEs were contacted and 241 useable responses were received. The response rates of 43.2% in New Zealand, of 19% for the United Kingdom and of 25% in total, are satisfactory. Therefore, the basis of this study was a large (421 responses) and high quality transnational sample, which allowed for sound quantitative analyses. The claim by previous researchers that knowledge management in the SME sector is not yet fully developed appears to be supported by the results of this research. The large majority of respondents regard themselves as not familiar enough with the concept of knowledge management to actually benefit from it in practice. Even though the respondents in both countries seem to appreciate knowledge management as a relevant and useful concept with potential, many do not seem to be sufficiently informed about this concept. Few have a knowledge management initiative in place or are planning or in the process of setting up one. The responses, which vary little between the two sub-samples, point to a short-term rather than a long-term management perspective being dominant. Major barriers in terms of the deliberate creation and sharing of knowledge are a lack of time and higher importance given to daily operational activities. The respondents - predominantly senior managers - indicate that they primarily consider themselves to be responsible for ensuring that knowledge is captured and shared and relatively little responsibility is given to other employees or specialists. SMEs do apply several aspects of knowledge management, however, this is generally informal and with an operational rather than a strategic focus. From the responses it is apparent that knowledge is shared internally mostly via people-based mechanisms. More advanced measures such as the systematic collection, organisation and storage of knowledge are less common. The results indicate a number of differences between the respondents. In this regard it is most evident that the more familiar respondents are with the concept of knowledge management the more proactive they are in terms of managing knowledge on an operational and strategic level. This transnational research strongly links knowledge management to strategy and it clarifies how this concept can impact the formulation of strategy and the strategic competence of SMEs. Therefore, the results add new knowledge to the areas of SME research and strategic knowledge management.

Study on Architecture-Oriented Coast Guard Information Security Management Model

Chen, Chih-Ming 20 December 2011 (has links)
With the popularity of computer networks, e-systems have enhanced the information flow within the Coast Guard Institute. Due to constant information security incidents, formulating policies and managing mechanisms become an important task of the internal security authorities. In this study, we construct an Architecture-Oriented Coast Guard Information Security Management Model (AOCGISMM) which is based on the six fundamental diagrams of Structure-Behavior Coalescence (SBC) Architecture. AOCGISMM, not only provides an integrated description of structure and behavior on the Coast Guard Institute Information Security operations, but also makes the employees within the organization easily to promote compliance.. AOCGISMM covers all structure and behavior of the whole Coast Guard Institute Information Security operations. Therefore, AOCGISMM describes the complete picture of Coast Guard Institute Information Security so that every employee shall understand and communicate well to meet the organization needs.

Siemens, Katja 20 January 2010 (has links) (PDF)
The large-scale extraction of lignite in Lusatia in the past had an extreme impact on the water balance of the Spree river catchment. The restoration and flooding of the opencast pits put heavy demand on existing surface waters for a long time period. The resulting artificial lakes have to be integrated in the riverine network. The coupling of management models and water quality models allows to consider both availability and distribution of limited water resources in the catchment and resulting water quality. This is corresponding to the principles of the EU-WFD for integrated river basin management, which is a basin-related consideration of available resources taking into account all influencing and influenced characteristics. Adjustment of data structure and time scale is necessary if models describing unequally sensitive and complex systems are to be coupled. Main focus of this task was to develop simple and robust simulation tools for the prediction of water quality in the reservoirs Bautzen and Quitzdorf. The complex water quality model SALMO served as a basis. In a first step, simple algorithms had to be amended in order to generate plausible simulation results despite of an adapted reduced data base. Stochastically generated management scenarios and complex simulated model results regarding the resulting water quality were employed as training data for an Artificial Neuronal Network (ANN). The trained ANN’s are efficient black box modules. As such they are able to mirror complex system behaviour of the deterministic model SALMO. By coupling the developed ANN with the management model WBalMo it is possible to evaluate management strategies in terms of their impact on the quality of the water bodies. ANN’s are system-linked models. A transfer to other aquatic systems is not possible. However, the methodology developed here represents an in-depth approach which is applicable to the development of further aggregated water quality models in the framework of integrated management models.

Trust in Japanese management and culture

Evans, William 19 December 2012 (has links) (PDF)
Japan, destroyed by an ill-fought war and risen to world power and yet again recently broken by natural and man-made phenomena, a nation intensely recognized the world over yet misunderstood, victim of its own exceptionalism, today needs to ask an old question. Will Japan participate in the international community as a full active member? Japan's involvement with the world was narrowly defined and confined to that of a trader and its image sustained by a self-proclaimed unique culture and all these today are put to the test. The trader's fundamental reliance on strictly cultural values to achieve success may today be insufficient to sustain their survival in a globalized world. Thus, the Japanese as well as foreigners question the validity of hitherto successful cultural tools such as loyalty in the context of globalized commerce

Since such plant is perennial, its cultivation and handling, if performed correctly, can be an opportunity of exploring commercially the material. Since the sixties, the Brazilian government has encouraged silviculture through credit and funding programs to rural producers and in 2011 it was sanctioned the National Politics of Sustainable Handling and to the Cultivation of Bamboo (PNMCB, in Portuguese), stimulating the cultivation of the graminaceous plant by family farmers. Family Farm was created with the purpose of stimulating the cultivation of food by people who were given land rights by Brazilian Agrarian Reform to supply cities and PNMCB may be an alternative to stimulate the diversification of products. Solidary Economy can be a way of organization, generation of earnings, and decrease of poverty to family agriculturists, for it presents a self-managing, horizontal, cooperative, and solidary management structure, in which everyone involved display the same rights and duties, composing a collective enterprise. As an enterprise, it is possible to explore more deeply the marketplace through the sale of differentiated products, thus the concept of Sustainable Territorial Development can assist in competitiveness, earnings increase, besides stimulating the bamboo culture by means of the relations among the actors involved in the same productive chain. Therefore, the general objective of this research is to propose a management model to Solidary Economy Enterprises that are based on Family Farm to promote Sustainable Territorial Development in the confection of bamboo products. To develop the External Dimension that influence the enterprise was used the authors: Buarque (1999), Silva and Batalha (2011), Aaker (2012), and to the Internal Dimensions, was used the authors: GEPAI (2004), Aaker (2012) and the Solidary Economy concepts. The methodology of this research consists of using data collection instruments, such as document reading, searches in data, patents, and government agencies bases, interviews to verify the proposed management model. Also as subsidy to the elaboration of the model it was performed an Organizational Diagnosis to analyze the strong and weak points of the enterprise, based on the involved Internal and External Dimensions and the Organizational Planning to analyze opportunities for the development of the enterprise and identify competitive advantages by means of studying scenarios. The analysis of the External Dimensions allowed recognizing the external influences to the enterprise and its forms of access that allow the development, considering from the economic scenario to public, environmental, social, and technological politics. The analysis of the Internal Dimensions presented in the form of management modules granted the reflection on the formalization of existent information in the enterprise together with the recognition of points to be explored competitively and point to be revalued. With the accomplishment of the study of scenarios through crossing the proposed Dimensions, it was possible to visualize probable future situations that can assist as information for a Strategical Planning, leading a better positioning in marketplace. With this research, we concluded that is possible to identify the deficiencies of a family farm enterprise and, with the proposed model, the knowledge can be gained by farmers, making possible a better organization, management, and especially the identification of competitive advantages for the sector of bamboo.
