Bäcklin, Anna, Jansson, Peter January 2004 (has links)
This thesis presents a study that was conducted within a project, the purpose of which was development of a software application (ePeer) for students at Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST). ePeer is a tool for gaining information about Youth Sexual and Reproductive Health and will be used in a peer education project which is currently being set up in Mbarara. The study presented in this report aims at designing the interface of ePeer. Our intention was to develop a design that would suit the future users of ePeer. Achieving that involved learning about user expectations and bridging the cultural differences between us, the software developers, and the future users. In order to meet the user expectations we decided to get students at MUST involved in the design process of ePeer’s interface. Two methods were used to accomplish that, namely mock-ups and evaluations. The mock-up sessions provided us with a number of prototypes of ePeer’s interface, created by the students. The evaluation of three applications, with functionality similar to ePeer, resulted in a list of application features that were most appreciated by the students. By analyzing the outcome of the mock-up and evaluation sessions we managed to learn about the students’ expectations concerning ePeer’s content, functionality and layout. Basing on that analysis we suggested a design of ePeer’s interface. The design was positively evaluated by representatives of the future users.

Kommunikation med hjälp av mock-uper

Alsén, Maria, Järgenstedt, Nils January 2003 (has links)
In several cases, systems that have been developed have been very time consuming and cost a lot of money, but they still do not fulfil the users requirements and requests. To make new systems better, you have to find a way to communicate that allows the developers to understand the needs of the user. The aim for our thesis is to highlight the importance of communication in system development. To investigate this we have choosen to do a study of the real-estate system. The work methods that have been used include mock-ups and informal conversations with the user, who is employed by the Church of Sweden in Ronneby. The purpose of this thesis is, among other things, to provide the Church of Sweden in Ronneby with a report, which can be of help for further development of the system. The system was developed by a work group at Blekinge Institute of Technology. Our question of issue is: Would the Church of Sweden in Ronneby obtain a more useful system if the developers applied the guidelines and experience that exists within the area of HCI? Further more we have looked in to if the communication has improved with the use of mock-ups to increase the interaction? Human-computer interaction as a term was adopted in the mid-1980s as a means of describing this new field of study. The focus of interest described the new way of looking at the interaction between computers and people. In this field it is important to involve the user in the developing process from the beginning to the end. Together with the user, we have made some propositions based on previous documentation from the project. Mock-ups are a prototype of paper that shows the user what the system will look like. This method was applied together with the user, to find a more logical structure for the system. After gathering the result of the case study, we can honestly say that communication do increase because of mock-ups. Good communication is not something that you can learn from books; you have to adjust to the situation. It is important when you develop a system to work with a model that allows you to go back and change things in previous phases that are incorrect, and also to include the user in the whole process.

Franke, Ingmar S., Beckmann, Sönke, Biletska, Olga, Zadek, Hartmut 07 September 2021 (has links)

Numerická analýza vlivu elektromagnetických polí na malá letadla / Numerical Analysis of Influence of Electromagnetic Fields on Small Airplanes

Řezníček, Zdeněk January 2014 (has links)
This thesis deals with numerical analyses of electromagnetic fields on small aircraft with composite parts as an innovative way for assessment of their inherent protection against electromagnetic effects of outside environment in all development stages. It is concentrated for procedures of creation of geometrically and materially complex models for simulating calculations in the time as well as frequency domains, execution of the simulations itself and comparisons of results between the internal electromagnetic calculations and executed experimental tests. Achieved results were verified on a simplified reference model of aircraft's fuselage and two aircraft prototypes VUT100 and EV-55 of the company Evektor, spol. s r. o.

Within and between session changes in subjective and neuroendocrine stress parameters during magnetic resonance imaging: A controlled scanner training study

Lüken, Ulrike, Mühlhan, Markus, Evens, Ricarda, Wittchen, Hans-Ulrich, Kirschbaum, Clemens January 2012 (has links)
Accumulating evidence suggests that the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanner can act as a stressor, eliciting subjective and neuroendocrine stress responses. Approaches to familiarize subjects with the scanner could help minimizing unintended effects on neural activation patterns of interest. Controlled studies on the effects of a scanner training are however missing. Using a comparative design, we analyzed within- and between session changes in subjective and neuroendocrine stress parameters in 63 healthy, scanner-naïve adults who participated in a two-day training protocol in an MRI, mock, or lab environment. A habituation task was used to assess within-session changes in subjective and neuroendocrine (cortisol) stress parameters; between-session changes were indicated by differences between days. MRI and mock, but not lab training were successful in reducing subjective distress towards the scanner. In contrast, cortisol reactivity towards the training environment generally increased during day 2, and the percentage of cortisol responders particularly rose in the mock and MRI groups. Within-session habituation of subjective arousal and anxiety was observed during both days and irrespective of training condition. Present findings demonstrate that training in a scanner environment successfully reduces subjective distress, but may also induce sensitization of endocrine stress levels during repeated scanning. Subjective distress can further be stabilized by acclimating subjects to the environment prior to the MRI assessment, including a short habituation phase into the assessment protocol. If replicated, present findings should be considered by researchers employing repeated measurement designs where subjects are exposed to a scanner more than once.

Principles for Diverting and Merging Viscous Flows : Evaluation and Visualisation / Principer för Delning och Sammnföring av Viskösa Flöden : Utvärdering och Visualisering

Strese, Åke January 2017 (has links)
In the chemistry branch of science is often a chromatograph usedto separate and purify substances in a solution. In achromatograph, different detectors are used to analyse the samplesconstituents. Some detectors destroy the sample during analysis.Because it is undesirable to destroy the entire flow of sample, asmall mass is transferred to a second flow by a flow splitter. Inthis report, four principles to divert a small mass from one flowto another are developed and evaluated. The basic principles todivert the flows is tested and principal mock-ups are designed andmanufactured. A brief survey of the market is conducted and aproblem related to flow spitting is investigated. The problem isthe influence on yield through a chromatograph due to flowretaining. Designing and testing of different retaining systems isalso included in this report. All four initial principles proved to be plausible splittingtechniques. However, only two principles appeared to be feasiblefor direct implementation in devices comparable withchromatographs. One of the less feasible principle is covered byseveral patents. The other is difficult to manufacture in order tomeet the strict requirements associated with e.g. chromatographs. The testing of different retaining systems showed that smallertube inner diameter and how the tube is winded can reduce theretaining system influence on the yield significantly. The splitting techniques in this report are all feasible splittingtechniques, and the report can be used as a solid foundation fordevelopment future laboratory instruments. Bandbreddning studerades således i olika formerav flödesfördröjningssystem.
