Postoj Magistrátu hlavního města Prahy k prostituci / Prague City Hall's attitude to prostitution

Marková, Lucie January 2016 (has links)
The diploma thesis The City Hall of Prague attitude towards prostitution is based on the constructivist paradigm and uses feminist theories. It examines, by means of a critical reading, the attitudes of the City Hall of Prague towards prostitution and its development in course of time. The period of investigation was determined by the beginning of municipal intention to introduce a regulatory bill. For this purpose all the relevant press releases from the period 2003 and 2015 were gathered. These documents are concerned with prostitution and they are accessible on press service section of www.praha.eu portal used by the City Hall as a medium for press releases. A theory part introduces basic concepts and trends in feminist debates concerning prostitution. The core of the thesis consists of four categories derived from the source data. These are: definition of prostitution, prostitution as a problem, needs and goals, and support and repression. The categories are treated critically from the viewpoint of feminist theories. The author follows not only the topics concerning prostitution, but also the way they are presented. There are also topics mentioned the City Hall neglects. The City Hall, by expressing and non-expressing its attitude towards partial themes, shapes their real form, development and...

Ethical Leadership: Ubuntu and Jantelagen : The influence of Culture in the interpretation of ethical leadershipin Zambia and Sweden

Kachabe, Victor, Kirabo Petersson, Sarah January 2020 (has links)
The main purpose of our study was to gain a deeper understanding of how culture influences the interpretation of ethical leadership by both leaders and followers in Zambia and Sweden. The study was conducted using an interpretative narrative inquiry with a small sample of ten participants (i.e. leaders and followers) selected using a purposive sampling method. The participants were drawn from six small and medium local authorities in Sweden (three medium size Kommuns) and Zambia (Two municipalities and one District Council). The empirical data was collected using semi-structured interview guides with interview sessions lasting 45 minutes on average. The data collected was transcribed and analyzed using narrative and thematic analysis. Based on this analysis, we came up with four main themes regarding the interpretation of ethical leadership by leaders and followers, and these are: Morality, Law, Humanity and Nature which constitute our Culture-Ethical Leadership interpretation model. The empirical narratives demonstrated some similarities in the interpretation of ethical leadership between leaders and followers in Sweden and Zambia. The leaders and followers from both countries affiliated ethical leadership to morality, humanity, adherence to the law, and, caring and protecting nature. Our research also led us to conclude that there is a degree of variance in the interpretation of ethical leadership which relates to the differences in the cultural contexts. In Zambia, leaders and followers show high inclination to the law as being ethical which is reflected in Bello (2012)’s statement that failure to follow rules and regulations is a manifestation of unethical leadership while in Sweden, leaders and followers are inclined to high morality and humanity influenced by high levels of trust as narrated by our participants from Sweden. /
Alumbwe leza!

Morals, ethics, and trust: correctional officers' view of AI implementation : A study of the effects of ethical and moral values on trust and artificial implementation within the Swedish Prison and Probation service

Andersson, Emil January 2022 (has links)
The use of AI within the judicial field has seen an increase in recent years, and the implementation of AI brings with it a new set of ethical and moral dilemmas that affect the field as well as the individuals working there. This study explores the moral and ethical values of correctional officers within the Swedish Prison and Probation service and how their values, together with trust in AI, affect their perception of a future AI implementation. This study conceptualizes AI as an emerging technology that has the potential to alter what it means to be a correctional officer and to transform the structure of a prison as a workplace. To answer these questions, a mixed approach case study was performed at the Swedish Prison and Probation service. The study found that the correctional officers’ imaginings of AI varied, ranging from simple translation systems to complex androids. The correctional officers saw AI as an emerging technology with the potential to reduce the hierarchical structures of the workplace and disrupt the meaning of the correctional officer, reducing the role of the correctional officer to a prison guard. Lastly, the study concluded that the values of the correctional officers could either act as enabling or preventive against specific AI implementations depending on the need for allowing intrinsic human values to manifest in the work activities, both in general trust and trust in specific AI applications. The author further discusses the lens of judicial AI for exploring the Swedish Prison and Probation service and examines the utilization of trust for understanding AI implementation. Further research in both AI and trust as a theoretical framework is called for.

Provisional Values / Provisionella värden

Sjölander Johansson, Jakob Andreas January 2021 (has links)
This paper concerns the issue of ignorance about values, and how to best deal with it.I try to find out what we ought to do when we are ignorant of what it is valuable topromote. The proposed solution is an indirect system of “provisional values”, builtaround three goals that are likely to increase our chances of achieving real value, should such a thing be possible. These three provisional goals the system gives us are as follows: knowledge, optionality, and diversity.Knowledge is the traditional way of trying to relieve our ignorance and has beenthe focus of most philosophizing about value.Optionality means having options, or the power to act differently. This is likelyto become important should we ever discover what it is actually valuable to do.Finally, diversity is simply the idea that, not knowing what truly is valuable, weshould do as much as possible of everything in the hope that some of it may bevaluable.

Good Nature and Prudence: Moral Concepts of Character in Eighteenth-Century Fiction

Wynne, Edith J. 08 1900 (has links)
To appreciate fully the ethical dimensions inherent in the literature of the eighteenth century it is necessary to understand the moral bias of an author, a bias often best ascertained by a study of the treatment he accords good nature and prudence. Although several scholarly articles and portions of longer studies recognize the importance of these virtues for individual writers, no single work has appeared which traces fully the history of the idea of good nature and prudence as complementary virtues in the eighteenth century. The present study provides a systematic analysis of these virtues as treated in theology, ethical philosophy, and fiction from the later seventeenth century to about 1800.

The effects advertising plays on college students' moral intentions beyond purchase behavior

Crockett, William 01 August 2012 (has links)
Advertisements affect our daily lives and as technology and the practice of marketing has developed over the course of history, we have become exposed to greater amounts of product and service campaigns. The purpose of advertisements is to educate the consumer with the goal of ultimately selling the product, and many companies and organizations would not be able to survive without the use of advertisements. Ultimately, it is a necessity for a business to prosper in a competitive market, but there are possible side-effects for the consumer that are beyond the intentions to buy. The purpose of this thesis is to explore the effects advertisements play on the college student in particular. Different static/multi media advertisements have been shown to various college students ranging in gender and background to discover the comprehensive ramifications of specific promotions to study the moral and ethical impact that advertisements play on students' moral intent. An analysis and conclusion will be given, along with ideas for possible future studies. Recommendations will also be stated for marketers to be morally responsible for the advertisements they portray so the audience is not effected in a way that can lead to unwanted consequences. Ultimately, the results did not support the original hypotheses, leading to thought- provoking questions concerning our current marketing practices and the effectiveness of static and multimedia advertisements on college students. Future studies need to take place to reveal the accuracy of the study and to ultimately answer the question, "Are current advertisements influencing the audience at hand?"

Ethics of Care in Collaborative Art Practices

Aldouby-Efraim, Danielle Ayelet January 2024 (has links)
Care can be defined as a set of relational practices that foster mutual recognition, growth, protection, empowerment, and human community, among others (Gordon et al., 1996). This study investigates the practices of care in the context of the curatorial creation of collaborative arts engagements. The recent proliferation of partnerships between artists and communities has revealed that, in some instances, such relationships have not been productive or supportive. This raises questions about how curators and artists embed ethical commitments into their planning and whether their relational practices foster care. Informed by Ethics of Care theory, Relational Aesthetics, and feminist scholarship as derived from the fields of leadership, psychology, and higher education, an interview-based cross-case approach was utilized to examine the Ethics of Care praxis within participatory art engagements. Six art practitioners were interviewed for this study to reveal their common experiences relating to care and explore how this relates to the background and curatorial work of the researcher. Data were collected through interviews and the researchers’ photographic reflection journal. It is argued that the findings expand the definition of ethical, collaborative relations within artistic co-creations. They also highlight the need to embrace discomfort, set boundaries to inform reciprocity, and provide a sense of belonging within Holistic Communities of Practitioners.

[en] THE CHORDS OF A SYMPHONY: THE MORALS OF DIALOGUE IN THE THEOLOGY OF BERNHARD HÄRING / [pt] OS ACORDES DE UMA SINFONIA: A MORAL DO DIÁLOGO NA TEOLOGIA DE BERNHARD HÄRING

MARIA INES DE CASTRO MILLEN 07 January 2004 (has links)
[en] This thesis is the fruit of an interpretative critical analysis of the bases of Moral Theology elaborated by Bernhard Häring which, due to is characteristics and proposals, is here given the name Morals of Dialogue. Moral Theology is a pratical science and, because of this it is important to emphasize that the theoretical construction of the author has as its foundation his day-to-day existence, the story of a long and productive life, in wich he perceived how to make Dialogue a welcome experience, which he built on and transmitted to others. In it, his life and his work are fused and confused, to show that Dialogue is an ethical course necessary for the life of humanity and that it should therefore be recommended to all people as the novelty that is present at the heart of the Christian ethos, as the reference of a trinitarian monotheistic religion which accepts it and carries it out at source. This being so, Dialogue could not fail to be also accepted by the Church of Jesus Christ as an ethical-moral commitment capable of making it a fertile and promissing sign of the Kingdom of God. What we can say is that the Morals of Dialogue, in the light of the Law of the Spirit which gives life in Christ, brings indispensible new elements for the reconfiguration of the bases of Christian morals, which is good news for todays world. The consequences of this are already being felt. The special morals for dealing with questions related to the day-to-day life of men and women of these days already does so in a renewed perspective. Creative freedom and faithfulness are necessary pressuppositions for the development of responsible, healthy people who, in partnership, wish to seek a life full of meaning. The Church of Jesus Christ is not beyond this perspective of renewal. The ready adoption of sincere and healthy attitudes in relationships, which guarantee Dialogue as a necessary mediation for the re-elaboration of a Christian way of life which is more fraternal and solidary, is an extremely productive course. This course invites us to look inside and outside ourselves, in the recuperation of a unit which is open to welcome enriching differences. This is not a naïvely optimistic vision. There are challenges to be overcome, but these do not douse our hope, and it is this hope that enables us to realize that, despite all the difficulties, the project is in itself a victorious one. The interpretative reaches of the Morals of Dialogue are real and show that many Brasilian and Latin American authors have drunk from this well to elaborate morals which are interpellated by the situations experienced in the Third Word, which demande especially a fruitful dialogue on behalf of the solidarity which garantees the dignity of all human life.
