Conscience, facticité de l'être : altérité et aliénation : une étude sur les œuvres littéraires de Pirandello, Moravia et Sartre / Consciousness and facticity of the being : alienation and alterity : a study about Pirandello, Moravia and Sartre works

Buratti, Alessandro 13 November 2015 (has links)
My thesis concerns the links between the literary works of Pirandello, Moravia and Sartre. I analyze the formation of Pirandello in the 19th century and the evolution of his proposal around the role of consciousness, its characteristics and the relation with its own body and the world of objects and others. Madness appears to have a position of privilege in order to reach an authentic existence. Moravia took back Pirandello's theory in his books and he developed an internal life description on contemporary man in connection with his society. Sartre, who read Pirandello and was a Moravia's friend, developed the importance of different consciousness' states (such as boredom, nausea or indifference) that are at the origin of moral projects.

"La ciociara: romance, cinema e a relação com o espaço" / La ciociara: literature, cinema and the relationship with space

Maurício Hermini de Camargo 05 October 2005 (has links)
A conclusão desta análise visa salientar a distanciação entre os personagens do texto e do filme como ligação entre as narrativas em questão / This paper, based on a semiotic approach and presented for the credits of na MA dissertation, is a study of Alberto Moravia’s novel La ciociara and its homonym filmic adaptation by Vittorio De Sica and Cesare Zavattini. The choice of La ciociara happens due to its structural characteristics, once it is different from the other narratives by the author in terms os space trodden by the two main characters. Therefore, this paper is inserted in the scope of the Italian literary critical thinking of the twentieth century, observing the intellectual behavior in face of the crowds. We will follow the writer’s intellectual path shown by his literary writings, thus showing the critics’ thought about his work. The relationship between cinema and literature rouses a varied amount of different studies and criticism; however, the fundamental issue in this research is the fascination Alberto Moravia’s literary work has on the cinematographic imagery. The elements that contribute to how the film director and the screenwriter ‘look’ make a connection among the characteristics that get either close or far from the original literary piece, and also make the identification of the diluting elements of the literary work in the body of the filmic adaptation possible. In the scope of space, Vittorio De Sica’s film will be analyzed within the focalization codes. The view of the narrative structures in the filmic universe will take into consideration the use of certain points of view that command representation. Our conclusion aims at emphasizing the distancing of the characters in the text and in the film as the link between the analyzed narratives.

Ennui et création dans la littérature du XXe siècle / Boredom and Creation in the 20th Century Literature

Ascobereta, Isis 25 June 2014 (has links)
Since the 17th century, the study of the concept of boredom has known a continual evolution in the Occident, which allowed it to be separated it from other associated concepts such as melancholy, tædium vitæ and acedia. In the 20th century, the discourse on boredom in philosophy, sociology and psychoanalysis took an interest in the relationship between the individual and the world, based on the personal and collective representations of time, action and vocation. These three components of boredom help to understand how this phenomenon spread through postmodern societies and how it became a form of experience (Erfahrung) for the individual able to bring himself face to face with his own limits as an acting subject and as an ennuye. The five novels chosen for the literary corpus of the 20th century (Svevo’s As a Man Grows Older, Onetti’s The Pit, Beckett’s Malone Dies, Moravia’s The Empty Canvas and Toussaint’s Television) analyze boredom through a mise en abyme of the creation. Indeed, the five heroes face the characteristic paradox of boredom that encourages them to engage in the path of the creative action while being restrained by the contemplative inertia of their immediate environment. Boredom enables the heroes-ennuyes to understand their situation in the world, to comprehend the present moment and to go beyond their first representation of what they called their reality. Their experience of boredom is made manifest through their creation that allows them to finally reach the status of world-forming, in Heidegger terms.

The present study aims at analysing the works Incidente em Antares, by Érico Veríssimo, and Io e Lui, by Alberto Moravia, regarding the relationship between fantasy and social criticism as resistance in literature. We consider the concept of fantasy as the one that encloses various narrative strands, such as the Fantastic, Gothic and Magical Realism, to investigate how the allegory of the social context composed in the novels, which were both published in 1971, embrace fantastic elements in order to question paradigms of reality extended to the interpretation of political and social context by the means of the notion of transgression posed by the fantastic mode. While in the novel by Veríssimo the fantastic element of dead coming back to life supports the exposure of the absurdities of the political power during the military dictatorship in Brazil, in the novel by Moravia the element of the divided self, the double, interacts with the criticism of the disrupting effects on the individual caused by social and cultural aspects of Italy lingering from the late 1960s, a time marked by popular movements that led to downward revisions about the period known as “The Golden Years” in develpoed european countries. The italian and brazilian novels studied in this thesis will thus converge in approaching fantasy as an aesthetic response to certain absurdities of reality itself.

Téma dospívání v moderní italské literatuře / Puberty Theme in the Modern Italian Literature

Grünzweigová, Tereza January 2017 (has links)
The following thesis addresses the theme of puberty through three Italian novels: Agostino by Alberto Moravia, Ernesto by Umberto Saba, and Dietro la porta by Giorgio Bassani. The introduction outlines the history of the children's and adolescents' protagonism in literature since the beginning. One chapter is dedicated to each author, his biographic data and generic work. The analyzed novels are then formally presented whose contents reveal a prevalence of the puberty theme. The authors' life journeys and unique youthful traumas are clearly projected in each novel. We can find the reflection of complicated family relationships, first sexual experiences, and initial problems of adult life in the stories of the young protagonists. Finally, the difference between the characters and their authors is shown with a brief comparison.

Tendenční beletrie z období Protektorátu Čechy a Morava / Propaganda fiction of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia period

Kolezsar, Michal January 2011 (has links)
The thesis deals with Czech activist fiction of anti-Semitic and openly pro-Nazi stance in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia between 1942 and 1945. This type of fiction has yet been widely ignored in the Czech (or Czechoslovak) scientific literature in spite of the fact that it belonged to the so-called "Popular Literature" at that time and therefore could have some (and maybe significant) impact on Czech readership. For that reason one of the main objectives of this paper is to identify and describe particular pieces. The identification and description is based primarily on the original material research of archival documents, newspapers and publications. On the basis of theoretical disputes and reviews in the official Protectorate press it also attempts to define officially demanded fundamental characteristics of the so-called "New Art" (or "The Art of the New Europe"). In another perspective (concerning themes and motives) it aims to distinguish specific categories in the tendentious literature of this period. It is argued that the basic types were: 1) Novels with the strong anti-Semitic accent (emphasis is laid upon a typification of characters); 2) Labour-novels; and 3) "Geopolitical" novels in which the fictional world of the "New Europe" is created.
