Se reconstruye la Biblioteca de la Compañía de Jesús del Colegio de San Esteban de Murcia. A través del estudio del inventario del fondo bibliográfico, realizado con motivo de la expulsión de los Jesuitas en 1767 por orden de Carlos III, se establece una metodología de trabajo para proceder a la identificación y clasificación de los títulos y las ediciones. El resultado es un "catálogo concordado", en base a la información que, sobre los libros, ofrece el inventario y las descripciones bibliográficas de los mismos, relacionado con las enseñanzas, regladas por el sistema educativo de los Jesuitas, habitualmente practicadas en los colegios de la Orden. / The Society of Jesus Library at the San Esteban School in Murcia is being reconstructed. A work plan has been developed in order to identify and classify titles and editions, based on a study of the inventory of the library's collection drawn up when the Jesuits were expelled on the orders of Carlos III in 1767. Using this methodology, an "inventory catalogue" has been drawn up, based on the information provided by the original inventory on the books and their bibliographical descriptions, which deals with the teachings habitually imparted in the Order's schools, in accordance with the Jesuit system of education.

Estudio de la ciudad de Murcia durante la segunda mitad del siglo XIV. Se analiza la evolución urbanística del casco urbano, la demografía y la explotación y administración de la huerta circundante. Se estudian las instituciones de poder (adelantados, Iglesia, concejo) y los conflictos entre ellos, y finalmente se lleva a cabo un análisis del aumento de la presión fiscal sobre la población. Todo ello enmarcado dentro de lo que se conoce como Crisis del siglo XIV.

Hemos querido analizar desde un punto de vista nutricional como estaban alimentados los habitantes de esta región durante los siglos XVIII Y XIX. No solo desde los conocimientos actuales sobre nutrición sino también en relación al pensamiento científico de la época. Las informaciones publicadas hasta el momento sobre este tema no son escasas, pero si con perspectivas diferentes y en otras regiones de España, esto constituía una perdida cultural irreparable además de una gran dificultad, por lo que intentamos profundizar sobre este tema. Esta investigación histórica sobre la alimentación de la región murciana, se realizo en dos grandes bloques:- El primero engloba la alimentación militar mediterránea del siglo XVIII y XIX tanto de los marineros y oficiales que estaban embarcados en los buques de la Armada como la de los miembros de los Arsenales y los militares enfermos que se encontraban en los Hospitales militares. Todos estos datos se han recogido en el Archivo del Arsenal Militar de Cartagena.- El segundo engloba la alimentación de las clases más desfavorecidas de la sociedad murciana, como contrapunto realizamos un capitulo sobre la alimentación de los Reyes y clases nobles de esta época.Dentro de las conclusiones podemos destacar:- Los marineros tomaban muchas legumbres y algo de carne. En el caso de los oficiales, dichas legumbres se acompañaban de una mayor cantidad de carne y otros alimentos, en este último caso, los platos estaban mejor cocinados y más condimentados. Los alimentos traídos de América, como el chocolate, eran consumidos sobre todo por los oficiales.- Ya en la Armada de estos siglos, se considera la importancia de una buena alimentación de la tripulación, pues de además de conseguir un mayor rendimiento en el trabajo, se evitaban ciertas enfermedades que ponían en peligro a la marinería.- Con respecto a las clases más des favorecidas podemos concluir que existe también una gran avitaminosis, sobre todo en el caso de la población infantil.- / We have wished to analyse from a nutritional point of view how the inhabitants of this region were red during the 18th and 19th centuries, not just from the knowledge we have on nutrition but also in relation to the scientific thought of the times. The information published to date on this subject is not scant, but in a different perspective and of other regions of Spain, which constitutes an irreparable cultural loss so here we try to deal more deeply with this issue.This historical investigation on the food of the Murcian region, was made in two parts.- The first covers the military food in the Mediterranean during the 18th and19th centuries, not only seamen and officers on board on navy ships, but also Arsenal members and in military hospitals. All this data has been taken from the Military arsenal archives in Cartagena.- The second covers the food of the lower classes of the Murcian society. In contrast we have a chapter on the food of the kings and nobility of the period.We note from our conclusions:- Seamen had a lot of pulses and some meat. The officers had the same pulses but served with more meat and other food. In this case they were also better cooked and better served. The food brought from America, like chocolate, were eaten by the officers although in the hospitals the were served to all irrespective of their rank.- In the fleets of these times a good diet for the crew was considered important because not only did it achieve better work from them but it prevented certain illnesses which could put the navy in danger.With respect to the lower classes we can conclude that there was a great lack of vitamins especially among the child population.In all the ordinances that we have investigated one can note the protection given by the Mediterranean produce.

Analizamos la función de la biblioteca en una educación más alta, usando contribuciones de la profesión de bibliotecario, la filosofía de la ciencia (teorías de T. S. Kuhn) y Paedagogy. Concluimos la necesidad de incorporamos en una educación más alta el uso de bibliotecas y de la instrucción de la información para todos los estudiantes. También estudiamos la situación y el contexto de las bibliotecas españolas de la universidad, y evaluamos la biblioteca de la universidad de Murcia, desarrollando un modelo para eso considerando recomendaciones y estándares de la asociación americana del bibliotecario (ALA). También evaluamos el actual uso de las bibliotecas de los estudiantes de la universidad de Murcia, y concluimos que esta biblioteca tiene que mejorar sus procesos de organización y comunicativos. / We analyse the function of the library in Higher Education, using contributions from Librarianship, Philosophy of Science (T. S. Kuhn's theories) and Education Theory. We conclude the necessity of incorporate in Higher Education the use of libraries and information literacy for all the students. We also study the situation and context of Spanish university libraries, and we evaluate the library of University of Murcia, developing a model for that considering recommendations and standards of the American Librarians Association (ALA). We also evaluate the present use of libraries of the students of University of Murcia, and we conclude that this library have to improve its organizational and communicative processes.

La Tesis Doctoral es un estudio de todos los aspectos relacionados con el teatro comercial en la ciudad de Murcia desde finales del siglo XVI hasta el siglo XVIII. En ella se aportan datos sobre los corrales de comedias, actores y compañías de teatro en época aurisecular, además de hacer un recorrido por la festividad del Corpus Christi en Murcia. El primer espacio escénico que existió en Murcia en los albores del barroco fue uno de los patios del Hospital de Nuestra Señora de Gracia y Buen Suceso. Se hicieron representaciones desde el año 1593 hasta 1609. En 1609 se construyó el teatro del Toro, una gran casa de comedias de propiedad municipal que pretendía dar abasto a la demanda de teatro de la ciudad. En 1633 el teatro se trasladó a un edificio en la Plaza de Santa Catalina de esta ciudad, hasta 1636 que la casa de comedias del Toro vuelve a funcionar hasta el siglo XIX. Murcia quedó inserta en itinerarios que utilizaban los comediantes cuando recorrían las parte sur-levante de la península. En Murcia representaron las compañías más prestigiosas de la época. / The doctoral thesis is a research on every aspect related to the commercial theatre in Murcia city from the end of 16th century to the 18th century. The research provides with information about corrales de comedias (former play houses, theatres), actors and theatre companies at the Golden Age as well as a look through Corpus Christi feast in Murcia.At the dawn of Baroque the first place for performing in Murcia was a courtyard in Nuestra Señora de Gracia y Buen Suceso Hospital where some performances took place from 1593 to 1609. In 1609 the Toro theatre was built; it was a big municipal play house which tried to meet the demand for theatre in the city. In 1633 performances were moved to a building in Santa Catalina square in Murcia, but in 1636 the Toro theatre reopened and worked until the 19th century.Murcia city was a permanent performing spot for actors and companies when touring the south and east of the country.

El presente trabajo pretende trazar una panorámica de los santos a los que se rinde o se ha rendido culto en la actual Diócesis de Cartagena-Murcia sobre la base de un trabajo de campo lo más riguroso que ha sido posible realizar. La hagiografía, que estudia a los más eximios de los creyentes, es de gran relieve en la vida cristiana y en el pensamiento de la Iglesia. Pero además la hagiografía a veces es un elemento relevante de la historia del cristianismo en una zona y de la vida misma en esa zona. Y con frecuencia el culto a los santos constituye un capítulo esencial de la historia local y de su devenir histórico. El catálogo de santos a los que se ha dado culto en una diócesis es algo importante. Tal es el objeto de esta tesis. / This paper pretends to draw a panorama of the saints worshipped in the present or the past in the Diocese of Cartagena-Murcia on the basis of a fieldwork as more rigorous as possible. Hagiography, the discipline that studies the most eminent of believers, is of great importance in the Christian life and in the thought of the Church. But, apart from that, it is also a significant element in the history of Christianity, and of life itself, in a given area. And often the cult of saints is an essential part of local history and its development. The catalogue of saints worshipped in a diocese is something important. Such is the aim of this thesis.

This work is about the secular significance of religious expression in Spain. It is also primarily an ethnographic study of several aspects of everyday life in a Spanish town in 1981. There are four main aims: to explain the relationship between local customs and beliefs and nationally sanctioned symbol systems - in particular, but among others, the relationship between the 750 year old cult of the Cross of Caravaca and the Catholic Church and Spanish State; to describe the unique behaviour of the Fiesta of the Caballos del Vino, and to give an account of one instance of the popular Moors and Christians Fiesta; to describe and analyse the social structure of a provincial town; and to show how important symbols are affected by social change. The thesis is divided into five parts and a conclusion. The first part deals with the geographical setting and the relationship of this study of Caravaca to other anthropological studies undertaken in Spain. The second is concerned with the details of everyday life. It shows the relationship between town and countryside and between everyday economic and political concerns and everyday religious activities. The third part includes a description of the largest and most influential institution in the town - the Cofradia —- and a discussion of religious devotion and the cult of the Cross of Caravaca. The fourth, a description of the Fiestas held in honour of the Cross of Caravaca, and especially the Jubilee year of the 750th anniversary of the apparition of the Cross, the pageant of Moors and Christians, and the unique 'Horses of the Wine 1 competition, provides a contrast with more mundane activities. In the fifth part an examination of the Fiesta symbols contains a discussion of festival behaviour in relation to the everyday life of the town, and changes that have taken place and continue to take place. These sections are followed by a brief conclusion.
