In this context, this study aimed to analyze the trophic interactions existing between the species Geophagus brasiliensis (Quoy & Gaimard, 1824) (Osteichthyes, Cichlidae), and benthic macroinvertebrate community in three reservoirs (Monjolinho Reservoir, Fazzari Reservoir, Broa Reservoir) in order to know its feeding mode, whether there is food selectivity or preference and which would be the most suitable trophic category for the species. Benthic macroinvertebrate communities in sediments sampled simultaneously to G. brasiliensis population were analysed and experiments were carried out in order to know the feeding mode of the species. Biometric measurements for ecomorphological analyses and analysis of stomach contents of the fishes were performed and based on qualitative and quantitative analyses of the macroinvertebrates consumed and their availability in the environment the values for the selectivity index of Paloheimo were calculated for the reservoirs sampled. The results showed that benthic macroinvertebrates are often used as food resource by the populations of G. brasiliensis with great participation in its diet, allowing us to characterize this species as a benthivore. Also, it was observed that G. brasiliensis has food preference for Chironomidae larvae.

Conceição, Katiani Pereira January 2018 (has links)
This methodology is based on multiobjective optimization techniques to perform the optimized, coordinated and selective allocation of the control and protective devices. The proposed mathematical model consists of two objective functions that consider economic factors and network continuity indexes. Physical and operational constraints are taken into account, with an emphasis on the set of constraints based on practical rules of distribution utilities defined in international technical standards, which require the specification, coordination, and selectivity of protective devices installed in the network. The possibility of load transfer from neighboring feeders and the islanded DG operation are also considered in the model. In this way, we obtain a generic model of mixed-integer nonlinear programming (MINLP) whose differential in relation to other mathematical models of the literature is to propose, in the same optimization process, the optimized allocation of the control and protective devices in the network along with the coordination of the protection system. The efficiency of the mathematical model is proven by comparing the results obtained in two tests with the aid of the genetic algorithm (GA) while for the solution of the multiobjective MINLP model the NSGA-II multiobjective genetic algor... Distribution et rôle trophique du zooplancton dans le bassin versant de l'Escaut / Zooplankton distribution and trophic role in the Scheldt watershed

Le Coz, Maïwen 27 February 2017 (has links)
Structural and functional characteristics of the Scheldt basin zooplankton have been studied in relation with environmental conditions presented in watercourses. The Scheldt runs for 350 km from Northern France to the Netherlands, crossing Belgium. Its basin drains an area subject to multiple pollutions originating from industrial, agricultural and domestic activities. As a consequence, ecological states of watercourses are unsatisfactory according to the Water Framework Directive (WFD) evaluation. So far, studies on Scheldt zooplankton have focused on estuarine reaches, and the upstream basin's communities were scarcely documented. From source to mouth of the Scheldt, 4 functional zones have been identified presenting different habitat conditions for zooplankton, defined mainly by salinity gradient and tidal influence. At the scale of the non-tidal watershed, spatial and temporal variability of zooplankton communities have been explored, in relation with environmental conditions. Zooplankton distribution showed a strong heterogeneity, inducing little predictability concerning ecological status (WFD), environmental conditions, and contamination patterns of sites (considering a set of persistent organic pollutants and trace metals characteristics of the study area). However, an important trophic role has been highlighted. The zooplankton community between 50-250 µm showed a selective feeding on some algal groups, particularly on chlorophytes, and and the results suggest a grazing activity on cyanobacteria.

Les dystonies focales : leurs dysfonctionnements sensori-moteurs et leurs conséquences sur l'organisation du mouvement / Focal dystonia : sensory-motor dysfunctions and consequences on the organization of movement

Bleton, Jean-Pierre 11 December 2015 (has links)
The identification of the muscles responsible for focal dystonia is a prerequisite to the introduction of botulinum toxin treatment and tailored exercises. From two apparently dissimilar dystonia: writer's cramp and cervical dystonia, we showed that the response to the treatments depends on the distribution of the muscles involved. Recording the movement of the head-neck segment in cervical dystonia, using 3-D inertial sensors, showed that voluntary head movement in a plane is associated with non-physiological movement in the two other planes. To determine the muscular actions involved, we performed a digital modeling of the head-neck segment which allows us to link the responsible muscle with abnormal postures. Therefore, knowing the importance of sensory phenomena in the control of movement, we have, during tasks of muscular force adjustment, demonstrated that force control is altered in both studied dystonia. Our results should have implications in the symptomatic treatment of these dystonias.

Full selective protection strategy for multi-terminal cable HVDC grids based on HB-MMC converters / Stratégie de protection à sélectivité totale pour réseaux multi-terminaux à courant continu composés de câbles et de convertisseurs de type hb-mmc

Auran, Geoffrey 17 October 2017 (has links)
In a near future, multi-terminal High Voltage Direct Current grids (MT-HVDC grids) appear to be a suitable solution for the integration of power electricity produced by remote offshore windfarms into the AC transmission system. Though the recourse to HVDC point-to-point links is well-known, challenges still remain for a safe operation of HVDC grids. Protection is the main technical field still under study and reliable protection strategies ensuring the best technological and economic ratio are investigated. This thesis focused on a full selective protection philosophy similar to the one applied to AC transmission systems. The consideration of cable links, Half-Bridge VSC-MMC converters and hybrid DC circuit breakers defines the frame of the study. An association of two algorithms for the identification of faults is suggested. The time available for the fault clearing process has been investigated. Simulations performed with EMTP software have been used to evaluate the reliability of the suggested strategy.

Augmentation de la sensibilité des tumeurs à la chimiothérapie par manipulation nutritionnelle / Tumor sensitization to chemotherapy through a dietary intervention targeted on lipids

Hajjaji, Nawale 03 November 2011 (has links)
Despite great therapeutic improvements, a significant proportion of patients still die from cancer, mainly because of the development of metastases. At this stage, treatments rely heavily on conventional chemotherapy, but their efficacy, which is dose-dependent, is limited by its toxicity to non-tumor tissues, as a result of their poor selectivity. The challenge is to develop approaches aimed at increasing chemotherapy cytotoxicity to tumor tissue while not affecting non-tumor tissues. Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), a lipid of marine origin, has the potential to selectively sensitize tumor tissue to anticancer drugs without sensitizing nontumor tissues. This manuscript reports 1) a review of existing studies supporting this hypothesis, 2) an assessement of the feasiblility of supplementing breast cancer patients with DHA during an anthracycline-based chemotherapy for metastases, 3) an exploration of the mechanisms involved in the selective sensitization of tumors by DHA, 4) the effect of DHA on weight loss related to chemotherapy, and 5) the profile of DHA incorporation into tumor tissue and the relation with its level in plasma.

Étude de la sélectivité d'acylation enzymatique de peptides : prédiction de la sélectivité de la lipase B de Candida antarctica par modélisation moléculaire et recherche de nouvelles enzymes spécifiques de type aminoacylases / Study of the enzymatic selectivity for peptides acylation : prediction of the selectivity of the Candida antarctica lipase B through molecular modeling approach and research of new specific aminoacylases enzymes

Ferrari, Florent 10 October 2014 (has links)
However, their use can be limited by their short half-life and their low biological availability. One solution to overcome these drawbacks is the acylation of peptides with fatty acids. This reaction called acylation can be catalyzed using enzymes. To date, very few studies focus on enzymatic acylation of peptides and on finding new enzymes catalyzing this reaction. The objectives of this work were, in a first time, to understand the selectivity mechanisms of the lipase B of Candida antarctica for peptides acylation combining experimental and molecular modeling approaches. This study highlighted enzyme/substrate interactions involved in the enzymatic selectivity and a modelexplaining the chemo- and regio-selectivity of this enzyme for peptide acylation reactions was built. In a second time, a preliminary study was carried out in order to identify new aminoacylase enzymes produced in the culture supernatant of various species of Streptomyces. These enzymes are able to catalyze acylation of peptides in aqueous media. A partial purification method was set and a comparative study was performed on the selectivity of C. antarctica lipase Band that of the new aminoacylases discovered in the culture supernatant of Streptomyces ambofaciens ATCC 23877. These enzymes presented a selectivity different from C. antarctica lipase B allowing the acylation of the N-terminal amino group of amino acids or peptides. A partial description of the aminoacylase activity of the supernatant crude extract of S. ambofaciens was performed. In a third and final part, a comparison of sequences of aminoacylases from Streptomyces mobaraensis with the genome of S.s ambofaciens ATCC 23877 was performed in order to identify genetic sequences encoding the new discovered aminoacylases from S. ambofaciens ATCC 23877. Each identified gene was deleted to correlate it with the aminoacylase activity observed in the crude extract of S. ambofaciens. Lastly, a heterologous expression of the ε-lysine acylase was initiated

Towards a better understanding of the cochlear implant-auditory nerve interface : from intracochlear electrical recordings to psychophysics / Vers une meilleure compréhension de l'interface entre l'implant cochléaire et le nerf auditif : mesures électriques intracochléaires et psychophysique

Mesnildrey, Quentin 11 January 2017 (has links)
The cochlear implant is a neural prosthesis designed to restore an auditory sensation to people suffering from severe to profound sensorineural deafness. While satisfying speech recognition can be achieved in silence, their performance dramatically drop in more complex environments. One main limitations of the present device is due to the fact that each electrode stimulates a wide portion of the cochlea. As a result, when several electrodes are activated, the electrical field produced by different electrodes overlap which distorts the transmission of sound information. Several alternative stimulation modes have been proposed to overcome this issue but the benefit in terms of speech recognition remained limited. In this project, we first used an acoustic simulator of the cochlear implant to explain the desappointing results obtained with the bipolar stimuilation mode. We then try to better understand the electrical behavior of the implanted cochlea in order to optimize the multipolar phased array stimulation strategy ( van den Honert and Kelsall 2007). To achieve an efficient stimulation of the neural population it is necessary to determine the distribution of neural survival. In this project we aim to better understand the electrode-neuron interface and identify a possible psychophysical correlate of neural survival. Finally, we discuss the main results and the possibility to design an optimal stimulation strategy to achieve a spatially-focussed electrical field at the level of the nerve fibers.

Silva, Elvis Vitoriano da January 2011 (has links)
This study examined the social division of intra-urban residential space from its relationship with income inequality. It was used as a case study the city of Porto Alegre in the period 1991-2000. The segmentation of urban residential space involves the unequal distribution of powers and rights on the location of housing units, which generates significant consequences on the spatial configuration, the pricing of real estate and in the encounter between different social groups. Two hypotheses were considered in this study: in the first hypothesis income inequality is associated with polarization of the residential areas, residential spaces in this reading would be undergoing a process of homogenization of income combined with the reduction of spaces for the middle class, this hypothesis points to the emergence of a dualized city between rich and poor; the second hypothesis associates the concentration of income in urban areas to increase the selectivity and the spatial fragmentation of the residential areas of the richest people, while there would be an increased heterogeneity of spaces middle class and poor people. We used the variable income per head of household extracted from the database of the population censuses of 1991 and 2000. The level of disaggregation of the variable used was the census sector. The measures of income inequality and residential selectivity were used: the Gini index, Lorenz curve, relative income, curve segregation, dissimilarity index, index of spatial correlation and analysis of maps. The results point to the convergence of two hypotheses. On the one hand, the richest of residential space has become much more homogeneous, but on the other hand, these areas are relatively more concentrated in the city, demonstrating that the recovery in the 90 territorial mainly occurred in the vicinity of areas that were already occupied by the rich at the beginning of the period. There was also a relative increase of the heterogeneity of the middle class and poor people, combined with the reduction in the percentage of households in the spaces of the middle class and increase in space from the upper and lower income, which points to a socio-spatial polarization. It is concluded that the city of Porto Alegre has become increasingly unequal spatial and economically in this period.
