Previous issue date: 2018-03-16 / Hemodialysis is the most common category of kidney replacement therapy set for
chronical kidney disease. In order to perform this treatment it’s needed a vascular access (VA) that
offers an adequate flow rate, a long use-life and a low rate of complications. The Arteriovenous
Fistula (AVF) is the closest access to meet these requirements. It can, however, present
complications and, during the cannulation that usually happens three times per week, adverse
events (AE) can occur to the patient. The arteriovenous fistula cannulation must happen with safety
in order to prevent future patency problems. There are three methods of cannulation: area, rope
ladder and buttonhole. In the area method, the insertion points of the needles are in the same area;
in the rope ladder method there’s the varying of the place of the puncture, at a distance defined by
the previous puncture, all along the VA; and in the buttonhole method, the needle’s insertion
happen in the same place, angle and deepness, forming a subcutaneous tunnel that will be
cannulated with the blunt needle. Each one of these methods has its own particularity and can
influence in the need to repair the fistula. This is a prospective cohort study, during the course of
six months, from April to September of 2017, conducted with the participation of 347 patients
using the vascular access by autologous arteriovenous fistula, within three hemodialysis clinics in
the city of Goiânia - GO. The data collection happened by weekly interview to the patients, using a
structured instrument online. The research was approved by the Ethics Committee and the
participation conditioned to signing of the consent form by the patient. The general objective was
to analyze the factors that can influence in the necessity to repair the arteriovenous fistula of
patients in hemodialytic treatment cannulated by different cannulation methods. The specific
objective was to relate the adverse events and complications in the different arteriovenous fistula
cannulation methods. We’ve found that in the buttonhole method, the most frequent AE was
dermatitis and misscannulation, and in the area/rope-ladder methods, the most frequent AE were
haematoma and peri-punction bleeding. The patients in the buttonhole method group received the
hemodialytic treatment with a higher blood flow compared the other group. We’ve observed that
the dual lumen catheter (DLC) is a predictor to the need of AVF repairments, due to enhancing in
28% the risk of need for AFV repair. The “arterial” retrograde cannulation has presented itself as a
protection factor, diminishing the need to AVF repairments in 1%. In conclusion, the buttonhole
method is recommended, since there is an intermittent surveillance of the arteriovenous fistula by
the nurse in the touching exam. The area method is not recommended, and the rope ladder method
should be individually evaluated in future studies. The nurse must act by monitoring the AFV,
surveillance of the patency parameters and health education to the patients for the AVF self-care,
as well as continued education to the nursing team in order to promote safe and scientifically based
practices.
de Goiânia - GO.
O objetivo

Previous issue date: 2014-08-25 / FAPEAM - Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado do Amazonas / INTRODUCTION: the scientific research at undergraduate level consists on the
investigation conducted by academics, under advisor guidance, produced according
to the scientific method rules, in search of the new, the answers still unknown by
science. The scientific research practice at undergraduate level is imperative to meet
the egress of nursing establish by nowadays way of care and society. OBJECTIVE:
analyze the features of scientific research practice by finalist students of nursing
undergraduate course of universities in Manaus - AM. METHODOLOGY: qualitative
approach, in a descriptive and exploratory way, carried out in four universities in
Manaus city, Amazonas state, having as subject 51 finalists’ students of nursing
course and 04 coordinators. As data gathering technique, it was used questionnaires
applied to the students, documentation of Pedagogical Projects (PP) and semistructured
interviews with course coordinators. RESULTS: the finalists’ students
define research as seek for a subject or theme and consider as a tool for generating
scientific knowledge. The experiences of scientific research at undergraduate
comprehend three dimensions: the inclusion of students in scientific research;
scientific production; and the divulgation of the results presented at scientific events.
Although the reference of these practices has been increased, the acceptance by
partners and the publication of papers has been shown to be scarce. The analysis of
PP evidenced disarticulation between teaching and research, besides presenting
planning in disagreement to the reality found and described by students. Material
resources exist. However, they were in conditions that did not meet the needs of the
objects of research of nursing students. The number of qualified professors for
guidance was not enough, when compared to the number of students in the course.
CONCLUSION: the experiences of the practice of scientific research at
undergraduate level, indicated by the students, were characterized as a study
process more than a production of new knowledge. It is necessary that students
understand the difference between academic works and scientific research.
As
Embora a referência destas práticas tenha

Estudo do potencial cicatrizante, antimicrobiano e antiedematogênico da Musa paradisíaca L. / Study of the potential healing, antimicrobial and antiedematogenic of Musa paradisiacal L.Santos, Jirliane Martins dos 21 December 2012 (has links)
This study is a preclinical research on the use of banana (Musa paradisiacal L.), whose main objective was to evaluate the antimicrobial potential, antiedematogenic, healing and cell viability of the extracts of the leaves and pseudostem of Musa paradisiacal L. Extracts were listed according to the plant part used, Musa 1 (ethanol extract of the leaf), Musa 2 (aqueous extract of the leaf), Musa 3 (ethanol extract pseudostem) and Musa 4 (aqueous extract pseudostem). In vitro tests were conducted cell viability by MTT method - [bromide 3 - (4,5 - dimethylthiazol - 2 - yl) tetrazolium] and for antimicrobial disk diffusion and agar drilling. For in vivo tests were used 36 Wistar rats in the experiment healing and 36 mice in Swis ear edema induced by capsaicin, provided by the Central Animal Laboratory Creation of Federal University of Alagoas, and handled in accordance with standards established by the Commission on Ethics Use of Laboratory Animals. It was found in testing antibiotics on the bacteria Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and the yeast Candida albicans, the ethanol and aqueous extracts of Musa paradisiacal L. do not inhibit microbial growth. The test was conducted cell viability at concentrations of 100, 200, 1000 and 2000 μg/mL, and showed that extracts at a concentration of 200 μg/mL did not induce cell toxicity in J774 macrophage lineage and in other concentrations there is a variation of cytotoxicity in extracts. The extracts were also tested in vivo experiments to evaluate the potential healing and antiedematogenic leaves and pseudostem of banana. It was found that no significant inhibition of ear edema formation induced by capsaicin, indicating that the extract has anti-inflammatory site. As for the healing of wounds clean, it was found that the extracts have healing action inducing epithelialization of the wound better than the positive control.

Nurses' perperceptions regarding ethico-legal training in GhanaKonkamani, Francis Xavier 06 1900 (has links)
The purpose of the study was to examine the perceptions of nurses regarding ethico-legal training in Ghana. The study further determined whether there were any discrepancies regarding ethico-legal training of nurses in Ghana, using six hospitals in the Upper West Region (Province).
Data were collected through a quantitative, cross sectional research design. Out of 150 people constituting the study population, a sample size of 110 respondents was drawn. A self-developed questionnaire was used to collect data. Nurses who have been in practice for at least five years answered the questionnaires. The convenience sampling technique was found to be appropriate for this study. The Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) was used to analyse data. The findings revealed that although ethico-legal topics were contained in the nursing training curriculum, majority of nurses did not receive teaching/training on them, making nurses vulnerable to litigation. / Health Studies / M. Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation knowledge of registered nurses working in private hospital wardsHutchings, Pauline Linda Joan 06 1900 (has links)
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation is a skill that all registered nurses
should maintain. In South Africa, a new healthcare trend towards
accreditation in this skill is emerging. It is assumed that nurses are
competent in cardiopulmonary resuscitation, but studies indicate a
problem of poor retention ofboth knowledge and skills in this area.
A non-experimental, quantitative, descriptive and contextual
research project was undertaken with the aim of exploring the
knowledge of cardiopulmonary resuscitation of registered nurses
working in the wards of selected private hospitals in the Western
Cape Peninsula.
A convenience sample of thirty registered nurses completed a
multiple-choice questionnaire. The questions in the questionnaire
were derived from a literature review as well as the basic and
advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation algorithms. Analysis of
the data indicated that the level of knowledge of cardiopulmonary
resuscitation was inadequate particularly in the areas of medication
and the rationale underlying interventions.
Recommendations that were made included proposals that cardiopulmonary resuscitation training programmes be revised;
and that employers ensure that registered nursing ,staff are formally
trained on an annual basis. / Health Studies / M.A. (Nursing Science)

The impact of the rights and obligations of nurses on patient care in a critical setting in Gauteng ProvinceTsatsane, Meriam Semanki 23 January 2015 (has links)
This study explored and described the impact of the rights and obligations of nurses on
the delivery of quality patient care in a clinical setting. Quantitative research approach
was utilised. Data was collected using a self-administered questionnaire. The research
results revealed that respondents who participated in this study were aware of their
rights and obligations, the effects and impact of factors influencing such rights and
obligations on patient care. It was established that “patient abandonment” observed
when nurses embark on a strike as their constitutionally enshrined right is not due to a
lack of insight about their rights and obligations, but on how such rights and obligations
are implemented.
The researcher recommends that further research be undertaken to explore the causes
of nurses embarking on strike actions despite their high level of knowledge concerning
the impact of such actions on patient care in a clinical setting / Health Studies / M.A. (Health Studies)

do grupo.
The Institutional Program for Scientific Initiation Scholarships (PIBIC) of the Brazilian
Ministry of Education aims to encourage the potential of students who are more
identified to the world of knowledge production through its inclusion in research
projects during graduation. For these students, the program offers a differentiated
monitoring by a master or doctor, whom in addition to guide the students in the search
process, insert them in their research groups, in which the experience of the learning
process is guided by differentiated teaching practices that are grounded in research
process in order to develop their autonomy to know and learn more effectively. It was
our assumption that the ways of teaching and the participation in Scientific Initiation
(IC) contributed somehow for these students to become more autonomous in their
learning process. We have traced as our objective: to analyze the perspective of
participating students in IC (between the years 2010 and 2012) and the configuration of
their ways of learning in PIBIC which contributed to the development of autonomy in
their learning process in nursing. This is a qualitative study, which data were collected
through nine semi-structured interviews and two focus groups conducted with PIBIC
students (in 2010-2011 and in 2011-2012) at the Faculty of Nursing at the Federal
University of Mato Grosso. As results, we have that research groups act as an important
base in the learning process of nursing students participating in PIBIC, because in these
students are developed different skills like: to relate and interact with peers and
professors in a recursive process that deepens knowledge and helps develop writing
abilities and also to learn from their own successes and mistakes and from the successes
and mistakes of other members of the group as well. The context of learning provided
by the numerous experiences developed in Scientific Initiation, as many readings and
discussions of texts and theories, the constant process of making and remaking both
individually and collectively projects and research reports of all students in the research
group, are factors that promote autonomy, in the Morinean understanding of the term,
and help in developing new strategies for the learning how to learn process. Another
important learning factor is the understanding the error as an opportunity to further
attempts to obtain necessary knowledge to perform one more step, and to know that
others will come and this constant becoming is a point of convergence that enhances the
desire to learn more and do better next time. To have a group that walks together with
relatively similar goals, helps each student learn to weave their numerous help networks
and understand that those networks point to multiple sources of knowledge and upgrade,
which resets the idea of dependence as something that seeks reciprocity of everyone in
the group, and being this an important component for the training of individual
autonomy, understanding it always within the inter - relationships we set with others.

Previous issue date: 2010-03-03 / Due to the importance of health care research in improving the health conditions of populations and in framing/planning of public policies and because of the existing gap between research and production activities, the purpose of this study was to look into the scientific literature about primary care nursing of hypertensive patients with regard to promoting health and avoiding complications, to reveal how professionals use these materials in their practices, and to analyze their social representations of the science, technology, and innovation permeating these activities. The first phase of this exploratory-analytical study comprised a bibliographical investigation at SciELO, using the Vantage Point software, and an analysis of the data based on references to health technology (101 studies were identified, from 58 research-universities). Subsequently, family care nurses from São Carlos, Brazil, were interviewed; their answers were systematized with the help of ALCESTE 4.5 and the emerging categories were analyzed in light of the Social Representations Theory. It was observed that most studies were of a descriptive nature, almost evenly divided into qualitative and quantitative designs. Most of them were carried out at public universities, made use of surveys and bibliographical research as technical procedures, and focused on hard-soft technologies. In the care of hypertensive patients, the 14 respondents used mainly soft nursing technologies, e.g., welcoming and relations, and pointed to the Family Health Program as the process facilitator par excellence, because of its focus on the person as opposed to the illness. Some of the reported difficulties were: shortage of human resources and the still prescriptive education of health personnel. This study also pointed to the rising number of articles on nursing in this field in the past three years and indicated that the nurses involved in the care of hypertensive patients regularly resorted to scientific knowledge found in the literature, adapting it to their realities, but were uninterested in producing it.

Previous issue date: 2010-12-10 / Given the speed of the changes occurring in the political, economic, social, cultural and technological organizations in healthcare are seeking new standards for work processes and forms of administrations to respond effectively and fully the needs of workers and users. The home becomes a space that seeks to build a new logic of attention centered on the humane care. Thus, this research aimed to analyze the social representations about the teamwork of healthcare professionals from a home care program for caregivers and accompanied by the same program. This is an exploratory study that consisted of a first stage of the bibliography of publications in the Medline and Scielo base, and the second phase of participant observation and interviews with professionals who comprise the team of the Interdisciplinary Program of home care and carers together the program in the city of Marilia. It was used for data systematization ALCESTE 4.5 software and the analysis of categories occurred in the Theory of Social Representations. Teamwork for both team members, and for carers is in a range of professional groups working in the same apace, but each in their specific area. Thus, it is clear that the process of fragmented work performed by professionals, and conducts individual behaviors are the result of such representation on teamwork, ie the type grouping. These attitudes and actions come to produce care practices focus on medicalhegemonic models that are part of daily life of caregivers, helping them build their representations on teamwork also of type grouping.
