Darbuotojų saugos ir sveikatos būklės ir technikos naudojimo saugos tyrimas žemės ūkio įmonėse / The Research on Worker Health Conditions, Occupational and Machinery Safety in Agricultural SectorMedziukevičiūtė, Aistė 02 June 2011 (has links)
Occupational safety and worker health conditions in industry depend on the implementation and administration of safety laws and regulations. However, in the majority of businesses and particularly private farms the legislation is not sufficiently implemented, the document management is purely tokenistic and symbolic, professional risk assessment is not carried out, the managers or other authorized personnel show a lack of competence. The research results are based on the questionnaire. The agricultural companies engaged in the production and processing of agricultural products have been surveyed. Having summarized the results the safety, occupational risk assessment, authorizing the personnel to work in the field of safety and health management issues were discussed. Moreover, the checklist was prepared, the level of occupational safety was evaluated and measures to improve it have been provided regulating the government payments for agricultural sector.

Occupational safety & health of young adult agricultural workersRudolphi, Josie M. 01 May 2017 (has links)
Background: Agriculture is the most hazardous occupational industry for young adults. Young adults are engaging in agricultural work and interacting with common hazards, however, it is unknown how young adults are engaging with such hazards and whether administrative controls including workplace organizational factors and social influences in the workplace are associated with safe working practice.
Methods: Workplace practices were examined among young adult agricultural workers (18-24). Workers responded to statements regarding their participation in six agricultural work areas, specific behaviors within each work area, risk-taking behaviors of parents, peers, and supervisors, and items about workplace organizational characteristics. A second study, conducted among swine facility workers in the Midwest, tested the effectiveness of an intervention that coupled behavioral theory with technology to increase the use of hearing protection in swine facilities.
Results: Results from the cross-sectional, online survey indicated supervisor influence was more strongly associated with reported workplace behaviors than co-worker/peer or parent influence. Furthermore, organizational factors including number of hours worked each week and the presence of safety and health policies was associated with workplace behaviors Results from the intervention study suggest behavioral tracking is effective at increasing the use of hearing protection among young adult swine facility workers in the short term, however, changes in behavior are not maintained over time. Supplying hearing protection is a more effective tool in facilitating sustainable behavioral change.
Conclusions: Results suggest interventions that address social and organizational factors of work to improve workplace behaviors among young adult agricultural workers should be tested.

Kvalitetsstämpeln : Arbetsmiljöarbete som legitimitetsskapareArleskär, Martin, Broman, Frida January 2013 (has links)
When demands of the surrounding world increase organizations find new ways to be the most effective and legitimate. This applies to customers, employees, competitors and society as a whole. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to investigate how a public housing company1 handle issues concerning the work environment. The focus of this paper is to illustrate how the occupational safety and health work interacts with legitimacy-building factors, for example standardization. To explain this, we use neoinstitutional theory with its concepts we find relevant. This bachelor thesis is a qualitative study, consisting of document studies and interviews. By encoding the material our three initial questions were answered. The conclusions suggest the public housing company retain systematic routines when working with occupational safety and health. Further, according to us, the company executes a large part of their occupational safety and health work in order to maintain its legitimacy, although some is also carried out for reasons of efficiency. The introduction of a occupational health standard would not necessarily cause significant change in the organization's daily work routine, but give an increased focus on occupational health and safety work, which in turn could improve the work environment of the organization. 1 Note that "public housing" in Sweden (allmännyttiga bostadsbolag)not is reserved for people under a certain income level. This form of housing tenure makes up 20% of all homes in Sweden.

Den psykosociala arbetsmiljöregleringen : Med inriktning på arbetsrelaterad stressHolmberg, Sofia January 2014 (has links)
This essay focus on work related stress and psychosocial enviroment in working life. The purpose of this study is to present a detailed description of regulation of the the Occupational Safety and Health Act and investigate how well employees are being protected by the law. I will also explain with the help of statistic which employees that most often suffer from work related stress and the results is discussed from a gender perspective. Work related phycosocial health is a big issue in todays workplaces, and people who suffers from stress are supposed to be protecteded by the the Occupational Safety and Health Act, but is that really the truth? The Occupational Safety and Health Act is a frame law, meaning the law is general and needs binding regulations to define the rules, and there is no such act about work related stress at the moment. No employer has ever been convicted for work related stress. At the same time the Occupational Safety and Health Act explains that the employer has a responsibility to take arrangement to prevent mental illness in working life. It’s mostly women who suffer from work related stress. The most common reason for sick leave among women is caused by their mental health, and it often caused by organizational elements like a heavy work load or a minor self-monitoring. These elements commonly appear in occupations where the employee works with people. The fact that there is no binding regulation about work related stress can create problems, especially for women. The problems and effects that can occur will be treated and analyzed in this essay. Finally there will be a reflection about how binding regulations in the aspect of work related stress may help women get a better protection in the Occupational Safety and Health Act.

Safety Climate, Safety Behaviours and Control: An Application of the Job Demand-Control model to Occupational SafetyPearce, Megan Nicole January 2012 (has links)
While the literature surrounding the negative effects of stress on health and well-being is plentiful, there is a distinct lack of research applying stress frameworks to an organisational safety context. This study investigated the impact of stressors and strains on safety in the workplace, using the Job Demand-Control model as a research framework. In order to maintain a proactive approach to safety management, safety climate, safety compliance and safety participation were used as study variables as they have been established as antecedents to accidents and injuries in the workplace. From questionnaire data from employees with regular safety issues it was found that a positive relationship exists between safety climate and safety behaviours. Satisfaction was found to mediate the relationship between safety climate and one dimension of the safety compliance measure used. Providing support for the buffer hypothesis of the Job Demand-Control model, safety control moderated the relationship between safety climate and safety participation. Control over work scheduling, and decision latitude moderated the relationship between safety climate and safety participation but were indicative of an enhancing effect, rather than a buffering effect. The results suggest that control is an important variable to consider in terms of safety.
