Dating anxiety and sexual intimacy anxiety in young people who harm sexually : a comparative study

Eagle, Deborah January 2015 (has links)
The present research aimed to address two questions. First, is dating anxiety associated with sexual intimacy anxiety? Second, do young people who report harmful sexual behaviour, as an offence or harmful dating behaviour, have higher levels of dating and sexual intimacy anxiety than young people who report no harm, non-sexual harm or sexual and non-sexual harm (generalists)? The Dating Anxiety Scale for Adolescents (DAS-A) was used to measure overall dating anxiety. Questions relating DAS-A sub-factors fear of negative evaluation and social distress - dating were amended to measure sexual intimacy anxiety. A scale to measure partnership anxiety and sexual behaviour anxiety were designed. Participants were 77 young people aged 13 to 18 years (M = 15.4, SD = 1.41). Forty-five (58%) of participants were female and 32 (42%) participants were male. Results found a strong, significant association between higher levels of dating anxiety and higher levels of sexual intimacy anxiety r(75) = .80, p < .001. Young people who reported a sexual offence had significantly higher sexual behaviour anxiety than non-sexual offence (M = 15.82, SD = 6.23, p = .005) and generalist offence groups (M = 21.77, SD = 6.53, p = .044). Despite no other significant differences, a pattern emerged that suggests young people who report harmful sexual or generalist dating behaviour may have higher dating and sexual intimacy anxieties. Furthermore, young people who report harmful dating behaviour may have higher anxieties than young people who report an offence. The implications of the findings for future harmful sexual behaviour and harmful dating behaviour research and practice are discussed.

Schraenen, Jolaine 08 1900 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is to investigate offending process profiles amongst sexual aggressors of women which integrate predisposing factors (two years prior to the offence) and precipitating factors (48 hours prior to the offence). Precrime factors included in offence cycles are internal and external to sexual aggressors. Thirty-seven convicted sex offenders who participated in a relapse prevention group are included in this study. Participants identified important life events. The sequence following these events forms a behavioural chain, which includes: 1) life events; 2) cognitions; 3) emotions; 4) fantasies; 5) behaviours; and 6) consequences. The series of behavioural chains reported by each participant shape his offending process. Offending processes were analyzed based on a qualitative exploratory method to put forward similarities and differences amongst participants. Results suggest three main offending-process profiles: 1) sexuality-oriented; 2) crime-oriented; and 3) mixed (sexuality and crime-oriented). The sexual dimension encompasses two sub-groups: 1) sexual deviance; and 2) deviant and/or disinhibited sexuality. Sexuality-oriented offenders (n = 17) had negative views of others and of life in general, which were associated mainly with hostility and negative emotions (e.g. depression, anxiety). Crime-oriented offenders (n = 6) had various cognitions, including negative views of themselves, of others, and of life in general, as well as cognitions supporting deviance. Following emotions were mainly hostile and negative. Mixed-profile offenders had various cognitions, including negative views of others and of life in general, as well as cognitions supporting deviance. A combination of hostility and negative emotions, or hostility, negative, and positive emotions followed.

L'enfant ROM / The Roma Child

BIDAUD, Laure-Amélie 16 February 2012 (has links)
What makes the legal analysis of the rights of the Roma Child so unique is that he is at the cross-road of several legal approaches. Indeed, the Roma Child is unique in the sense that he belongs to an ethnic and/or national minority, is less than 18 years old, in most cases is considered as a foreigner where he lives (whether from one of the European Union countries or not), all this to be put in perspective of his legal status of Child. If the integration of the fact that this child belongs to a « minority community » is very challengeable in regard to the National Legal Rights, it is obviously much more meaningful in regard to the international and European rights of the Minorities, both in terms of laws and jurisprudence of the European court of Justice. Furthermore, the legal rights of the Roma child as member of a minority are superseded by the rights of the children under the age of 18. However, the reality is sometimes not aligned with the legal principles when the actual circumstances of the presence of this child on the French territory expose him to treatment which are un-respectful to his status of child, and to the legal principles against discrimination. This is particularly true with respect to the laws regulating the entrance and circulation of foreigners on the French territory, which will collide with his rights to education, health, social benefits and protection against delinquency.

It can be verified that there is no distortion or broadening about traditional concepts from authorship and participation means although real and brilliant methodological exchange coming from criminal input is. Dual conception from criminal origin, where breaches of law come up as a new model on applied criminal unjust act to intraneus (special relationship on higher levels regarding legal rights positive duties). In such scenario there is clear relationship on rights and fundamental assurances to individuals and, as a consequence, a broadening on a restriction design to individual freedom in a measure above what is commonly usual from what happens in product input on consumerism market. It is certain that, by turning it into a relation among such rights in criminal law and procedural criminal traditional one it can be seen truthfully a change in the search for social effectiveness towards inserted harmful products in consumerism market. Assurance against damage, innate to criminal sciences, specially on procedural environment, being very much in a sensitivity condition. Up to which level it means to say individual fundamental rights in reality are limited from concretization? In such point, doctrine and jurisprudence, due to effectiveness in the second and third dimensions on fundamental rights is understood to be legitimate that such issue is related to harmonization and fit process between social interest and also individual in post modern society. Thus, the present work aims in identifying which are relative individual fundamental rights and thus, analyze possibility of application in these criminal input models for higher levels to Brazilian law tools, lege lata, in such an appropriate way to current paradigm in fundamental rights / O presente trabalho trata da responsabilidade penal pelo produto com destaque em duas dificuldades: i) na imputação dos níveis superiores pela responsabilidade penal pelo produto nocivo ao consumo, diante da posição de garante ocupada na estrutura empresarial e ii) na comprovação probatória entre a causa e o resultado lesivo, na qual o juízo de probabilidade substitui o juízo de certeza.

Vývoj kodifikace trestního práva hmotného na území českých zemí na vybraných trestných činech / The development of criminal law codification in Czech lands in the area of chosen criminal offences

Vojáček, Jan January 2011 (has links)
This thesis describes the development of codification of criminal law in Czech history. At first I described theory of comparative law, further follows the historical development of criminal law since the beginnings of the Czech state. After that I compared individual criminal codes based on division between general and special part. In special part I focused on the scheme of division of criminal offences into sections. At the end I compared adjustment of several criminal offenses in penal codes. This part contains four criminal offences (murder, theft, high treason and crime of witchcraft), which interfere with many areas of human life.

Risky business: a regional comparison of the levels of risk and service needs of sexually offending youth

Schoenfeld, Tara McKenzie 05 1900 (has links)
Considerable attention has focussed on identifying individual factors associated with, or predictive of, sexual offending (e.g., Efta-Breitbach & Freeman, 2004). In light of these individual factors, clinicians and researchers have developed standardized instruments for assessing the risk posed by sexually offending youth. Two such instruments are the Juvenile Sex Offender Assessment Protocol-II (J-SOAP-II; Prentky & Righthand, 2003) and the Estimate of Risk of Adolescent Sexual Offence Recidivism Version 2.0 (ERASOR-II; Worling & Curwen, 2001). In addition to individual factors, research on crime has demonstrated that structural factors within the community may be important determinants of sexual and non-sexual offending (e.g., McCarthy, 1991; Ouimet, 1999; Shaw & McKay, 1942; Wirth, 1938). Therefore, the purpose of this study was twofold: (a) to compare the psychometric properties of two newly developed risk assessment instruments (i.e., J-SOAP-II and ERASOR-II) and (b) to use the better instrument to compare the levels of risk posed by sexually offending youth in 3 neighbouring, but diverse communities. Using file information, the J-SOAP-II and ERASOR-II were scored on 84 adolescent males between the ages of 11 and 20 years who had committed a sexual offence and received treatment at Youth Forensic Psychiatric Services (YFPS) in the Greater Vancouver Area (GVA; n = 30), Central Okanagan (CO; n = 26), and Thompson Nicola region (TN; n = 28). Calculations of interrater reliability and item-total correlations indicated that the J-SOAP-II was a better assessment instrument for this sample of offenders. Consequently, further regional analysis of risk was conducted using the J-SOAP-II data. Results indicated that although there were no regional differences among the severity and history of sexual offending, TN youth generally had a greater number of risk factors than did youth in CO and GVA. Specifically, youth in TN were found to be higher risk in the areas of intervention, general problem behaviour, iii and family/environment dynamics. These results suggest that to better understand youth who commit sexual offences and to provide appropriate prevention and intervention strategies for individual offenders and their communities, youth should not be evaluated in isolation from their social and community context. Recommendations for practice are discussed.

Muži jako oběti domácího násilí / Men as victims of domestic violence

KUBIŠTA, Petr January 2016 (has links)
This dissertation focuses on issues of domestic violence (also known as domestic abuse) against men. It looks into the issue why male victims are not taken seriously by the Czech police forces. Domestic violence against men is less common than domestic violence against women. However those males affected by domestic abuse often struggle to find support in society and in the Czech law. They are often left to deal with the problems on their own. In many cases male victims are not treated seriously by society and police forces. It is very important to highlight this issue in society and find support by the Czech government. Abuse against men should be taken as seriously as violence on female victims. The focus should be on early intervention and prevention.

Salvador
