Previous issue date: 2013-09-02 / Coordena??o de Aperfei?oamento de Pessoal de N?vel Superior / An economical solution for cementing oil wells is the use of pre-prepared dry mixtures containing cement and additives. The mixtures may be formulated, prepared and transported to the well where is added water to be pumped.Using this method, becomes dispensable to prepare the cement mixes containing additives in the cementing operation, reducing the possibility of error. In this way, the aim of this work is to study formulations of cement slurries containing solid additives for primary cementing of oil wells onshore for typical depths of 400, 800 and 1,200 meters. The formulations are comprised of Special Class Portland cement, mineral additions and solids chemical additives.The formulated mixtures have density of 1.67 g / cm ? (14.0 lb / gal). Their optimization were made through the analysis of the rheological parameters, fluid loss results, free water, thickening time, stability test and mechanical properties.The results showed that mixtures are in conformity the specifications for cementing oil wells onshore studied depths / Uma solu??o econ?mica para a cimenta??o de po?os de petr?leo ? o emprego de pr?- misturas secas contendo cimento e aditivos s?lidos. As misturas podem ser formuladas, preparadas e transportadas para o po?o onde ser? adicionada ?gua para bombeio. Com essa metodologia, torna-se dispens?vel a prepara??o das misturas de cimento com aditivos no ato da opera??o de cimenta??o, reduzindo a possibilidade de erro. Desta forma, o objetivo desse trabalho ? estudar formula??es de pastas de cimento contendo aditivos s?lidos para a cimenta??o prim?ria de po?os de petr?leo onshore para profundidades t?picas de 400m, 800m e 1.200 metros. The master's thesis deals with simultaneous film interpreting and pre-prepared electronic subtitles at film festivals in the Czech Republic. Simultaneous film interpreting used to be a widespread mode of audiovisual translation at film festivals. However, today it has been mostly replaced with subtitles; these are often pre-prepared electronic subtitles manually projected under the film screen by a so-called subtitle launcher. These types of audiovisual translation are generally characterized in the theoretical part of the thesis. In the empirical part, the research first focuses on film interpreting at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. As films are no longer interpreted at the festival, the research method of interviews with the then interpreters was chosen. Based on the information obtained from the interviews, it is described how films were interpreted and what working conditions interpreters had. General information on film interpreting was also gathered during the interviews. The second chapter of the empirical part deals with pre-prepared subtitles: first with the process of subtitle launching and subtitle launchers' working conditions, and then with the audience's opinion, which was elicited in a questionnaire survey at the Summer Film School Uherske Hradiste. This diploma thesis describes the issue of teaching Peace Education in a Montessori School. It comprehensively characterises the concept of Peace Education, mapping the content of lessons and materials which form part of the prepared environment of a Montessori class. I was interested in the inclusion of Peace Education in the Montessori Curriculum because it has an important role in education as Marie Montessori believed that peace begins in children. For the elaboration of the practical part, I chose action research which took place in Orange Class at Duhovka Elementary School - Prague, where I have been working as a class teacher since September 2020. The research was conducted in a mixed age class of Gd 1-3 students aged 6-9 years. I focused mainly on trying out the lessons with my class having created the materials for the prepared environment. In conclusion, I will evaluate the contribution of Peace Education for the class team and the changes of dynamics within the students in terms of respecting others. In addition, I will also reflect on the lessons and write recommendations for teachers who would like to use them. An investigation of academic reading skills of science foundation students at a rural universityMolotja, Tsebe Wilfred 23 September 2016 (has links)
PhD (English) / Department of English / It has been established, through research, that some first-entering science students display levels of under-preparedness for tertiary studies. One area in which this is seen is in students’ lack of academic reading ability. Although, some of these students read fluently they do not display competencies in other reading areas, such as to understand, interpret, infer or critique ideas expressed in science academic texts. This low academic reading proficiency has a negative effect on their studies. The aim of this study was to identify, through the National Benchmarking Tests (NBT), the reading competencies of all (100) students registered in the Science Foundation Programme (SFP) in the University of Venda. SFP caters for students who did not attain the required scores in Mathematics and Physical Science. These students’ overall scoring, including English competency, is less than the required (26) points, even though they obtained university entrance scores in their Matric Examination. A NBT was used to identify students’ reading competencies and based on these results, a reading profile of the students was drawn up and was used to design an intervention strategy to enhance existing competencies and to remedy any shortcomings. To achieve the study’s aim, a mixedmethod approach was used. The method was predominantly quantitative, because of the statistical aspects of the data from NBT, however, it had some elements of qualitative approach through the use of a case study and the designing of an intervention strategy in response to the profile. The results of the study indicated that the majority of students performed at the basic and lower-intermediate levels. This kind of reading profile means that students on SFP do not possess the academic reading skills needed for them to succeed with their required academic reading activities, without some kind of structured intervention. Sonic "Alchemy": An Original Composition for Piano and Electronics with Critical EssayWen, Bihe 08 1900 (has links)
This paper presents the history and the theoretical study of mixed music and focuses on two piano solo works and two mixed electroacoustic compositions for piano and electronics. By discussing the working process and giving the analysis of the original composition Alchemy for piano and electronics, this paper investigates the relationship between cause, source and spectromorphology, reflecting how the concept of energy-motion trajectory are embodied in this mixed electroacoustic work. Alchemy is a mixed composition for piano solo and 8-channel fixed electronics focusing on the gestural play and sonic expression. The live piano part explores the gestural sound played with a slide (cup), paper clip, and objects placed inside the piano. The 8-channel electronics part is mainly derived from the recorded acoustic piano. It extends the sonic potential of source materials and presents the diverse vectorial movements of spatialization.

Exploring BSW educators' experiences of working with under-prepared studentsRichardson, Robert F., II 20 April 2015 (has links)
Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) / Little is known about the perspectives of social work educators who work with under-prepared students in baccalaureate social work (BSW) programs. Educators across fields believe that students are increasingly under-prepared to be successful in higher education, and social work programs face greater numbers of under-prepared students seeking BSW degrees. Although an increasing amount of research offers strategies for matriculating, retaining, and teaching under-prepared students, these strategies are often presented without the contextual experiences faced by the educators who work with under-prepared students on a day-to-day basis. The following research seeks to begin to fill that gap. The researcher interviewed 11 participants and used Interpretive Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) to uncover the essential experiential elements of working with under-prepared BSW students and to reveal the meaning that social work educators create within these experiences. Analysis resulted in four overlapping themes including understanding under-preparation as social injustice, questioning what it means to be a social work educator, recalling compelling moments, and demonstrating care in and out of the classroom. These results suggest that social work programs and educators can more explicitly recognize how working with under-prepared students mirrors traditional social work practice, and discuss how this mirrored process might affect both educators and students. Based on these results, the meaning of advancing social justice for under-prepared students, the conflicting roles that educators often adopt with under-prepared students, and the influence of external forces on educators' work all deserve further research.

“The point is that you should be able to know your speech”. A study of the teaching practice of prepared speech, in upper-secondary school Swedish. Cristina Jarl This licentiate study explores the discursive construction of the classroom practice of teachers and students preparing a formal speech, within the Swedish language teaching. The explicit focus is on the teaching situation prior to the students’ prepared speech, and the actions per-formed by the actors within the language teaching context. The overall aim of the thesis is to increase the knowledge of teaching prepared speech as a social practice, by specifically describ-ing, analyzing, and problematizing the students’ opportunities to develop knowledge, connected to prepared speech in the language teaching classroom. By focusing on the instructional pro-cesses that lead to the delivery of the prepared speech this thesis contributes to new insights about the desired knowledge in the students’ prepared speech in school. The research questions guiding the investigation deal with aspects such as social actions, circulating discourses and the students’ subject positions as speakers in the teaching of prepared speech. A focused ethnography method was used, defined by short and intense periods of fieldwork engaging in a specific group activity in a social environment. The data production took place in two teaching groups, in two different upper secondary schools in Sweden. The empirical data consist of observations, sound and video recordings, field notes and texts produced by both teachers and students. During data production, the teaching alternated between on-site and online teaching due to the Corona pandemic. The classroom practice is explored as a social practice and as a discursive arena, where different perceptions exist. Social actors use discourse to mediate action, in which discourse impacts their ways of doing and being. By applying me-diated discourse analysis it is possible to study the complex relations between social action and discourse. The main findings suggest that teachers and students tend to focus more on the form and the production of the speech, and less on the specific subject content of the speech. The results display prominent and sometimes contradictory dichotomies in the teaching of speech: aspects of the prepared speech involve on one hand the practical, the spoken and the corporeal, and on the other hand the theoretical, the written and the visual. Additionally, the study illustrates the fixed and mobile dimensions of Swedish as a school subject. The importance of a speaker’s credibility shows a dynamic tension between students’ strategic, institutional and social posi-tions as a speaker. A concluding remark in the present study is that it seems important for the students to speak and having something to say, in a certain form and packaging, rather than what they have to say and why. Therefore the key instructional questions of what, why and who in terms of teaching prepared speech open up for further discussion.

This diploma thesis deals with analysis and modification of thin layers using ion beams. The first part of this diploma thesis deals with phenomena accompanying ion beam bombardment of solid matter. The second part of this diploma thesis is concerned with Secondary Ion Mass Spectroscopy (SIMS) and Low Energy Ion Scattering (LAIS). This work convey some basic information about these two techniques and it also deals with some benefits result in their connection into parallel depth profiling mode (such as better depth resolution of the LEIS profile, quantification of the SIMS). These benefits are demonstrated on MoSi film measurement. Within the framework of this thesis a new UHV manipulator was designed. This new UHV manipulator is equipped with precise stepper UHV motor and since the proportions are smaller, the manipulation with a sample in a space limited UHV chamber is much more comfortable and more precise. The third part of this diploma thesis deals with ion-beam induced transformation of epitaxially grown Fe films with thickness of 22 monolayer (ML) and 44 ML on Cu(100) single crystal at room temperature. Metastable Fe films of 22 ML thickness were prepared in CO pressure and 44 ML Fe films were prepared by co-evaporation of Fe with Fe64Ni36 (invar). Structural changes are analyzed by scanning tunneling microscopy and low-energy electron diffraction. The aim of this thesis is to discuss the influence of the sputtering parameters such as ion dose and ion energy on the nucleation of bcc nanocrystals, their growth, final shape and size. The influence of different Ni concentration on stability of 44 ML thick Fe films is also discussed.
