An investigation towards the need for a postgraduate qualification in the specialisation fields of Diagnostic Radiography at the CUT

Du Plessis, J., Friedrich-Nel, H.S., Van Tonder, S.P. January 2010 (has links)
Published Article / The current master's degree qualification in Diagnostic Radiography at the Central University of Technology, Free State (CUT) is research based and does seemingly not address the need for training in the specialisation fields of Diagnostic Radiography sufficiently. To address this problem, a needs assessment was conducted amongst qualified diagnostic radiographers in Bloemfontein and Kimberley by means of quantitative questionnaires, qualitative interviews and a focus group discussion. The main aim of the needs assessment was to determine the need for a postgraduate qualification for radiographers in the specialised fields. The possible structure of such a program and the preferred mode of delivery were also investigated. The results of the study emphasised the need for a structured postgraduate learning programme in the specialisation fields in Diagnostic Radiography in the region. Responding to this validated need for a structured postgraduate qualification at the CUT, the current master's degree was revised to accommodate the results of the study and it was proposed to the Professional Board for Radiography and Clinical Technology for approval.

Meritvärdering och rekrytering : Kandidatuppsats om användandet av begreppet personlig lämplighet utifrån ett genusperspektiv

Hedvall, Ellen January 2016 (has links)
Recruitment processes includes evaluation of candidates qualifications and employers have the opportunity to found recruitment decisions on candidate personal suitability. What falls under the term personal suitability though, has during the years been a bit unclear. The first purpose of this study is therefor to examine the evaluation of qualifications, the term personal suitability and also employer’s possibilities to use the term in a non-discriminatory way in a recruitment process, this through the legal dogmatic method. The second and third purposes are further to put the evaluation of qualifications and the concept personal suitability in a social context and observe possible risks associated to the recruitment process from a genus perspective. Those purposes and questions are answered through the socio-legal method. The study is a literature study and it is limited to only concern direct discrimination because of gender. The result shows that employers can use the term personal suitability in recruitment processes if the candidate’s educational qualifications and work- and profession experience are equivalent. The employer has to be able show reasons for the decision though, explain why the personal suitability’s were needed and how they are connected to the actual work to make sure that the decision does not constitutes discrimination because of gender. The result also shows several risks associated to the evaluation of qualifications and the term personal suitability. The risks might be caused by the social norms society creates, norms that further creates expectations about how women and men are or should be as employees, leaders and colleagues. These social norms create risks if they affect references, interviewers, employers and recruiters to the extent that one gender becomes mistreated. Social norms are created all over and will most likely continue to exist. They may also be one reason why our labour market is gender segregated and why women in general are given less favorable opportunities and possibilities. The study shows that it is of importance that references, interviewers, employers and recruiters don’t get affected and perceive jobseekers personal suitability based on out-dated and discriminatory norms.

A HORSE POWER MEASUREMENT SYSTEM FOR NEXT GENERATION AIRCRAFT

Mangino, Fred 10 1900 (has links)
International Telemetering Conference Proceedings / October 23-26, 2000 / Town & Country Hotel and Conference Center, San Diego, California / Understanding the horsepower demands that electrical and hydraulic systems place on an aircraft engine is critical since this directly effects engine performance. The current methods of measuring horsepower have been mainly limited to lower rpm engines and are not suitable for higher rpm jet engines. L-3 Telemetry East has developed instrumentation for the F-22 instrumentation group that is capable of measuring horsepower loads on engine shafts that are rotating at up to 18000RPM. This paper describes the operation of this system.

Resource Utilization of Salespeople and Prospecting Performance

Nguyen, Thuy D. 12 1900 (has links)
Every day, salespeople span boundaries, coordinate internal and external expertise, leverage social capital, mobilize the tangible and intangible resources of their firm, and try to create value for all stakeholders. Recognizing the important roles of salespeople, Evans et al. (2012) and Lassk et al. (2012) call for more research on the usage of skills, knowledge, people, strategies, expertise, and other resources of salespeople to produce the desired outcomes. Responding to their calls, this study specifically focuses on how salespeople utilize their available and finite resources across four types of customers (new customers, short term customers, long term customers, and win-back customers) to identify and qualify new sales opportunities during the prospecting stage. The dissertation focuses on seven types of resources (capturing both internal and firm related resources) available for salespeople: (1) firm tangible, (2) firm intangible, (3) firm market based, (4) present resources, (5) skills, (6) knowledge, and (7) accumulated successes. The study further explores the moderating roles of organizational identification, competitive intensity, and customer dependence on the relationship between resources utilized and performance during the prospecting stage. The resource utilization scale is developed and tested for robustness. Next, using a final dataset of 346 responses from salespeople, the results reveal that salespeople adaptively utilized various resources across new customers, short-term customers, long-term customers, and win-back (lost) customers. Overall, performance during prospecting stage are more strongly influenced by utilization of internal resources (presence, knowledge, skills and success) than firm related factors. Further, successful prospecting performance requires the usage of skills and knowledge resources with new customers, only skills resources with short-term and long-term customers, but present resources, knowledge, and firm tangible resources with win-back customers. In addition, organizational identification and competitive intensity moderate the relationship between resource utilization and prospecting performance for all customer types, whereas customer dependence is an important moderator for long-term customers. The paper makes several contributions to key areas such as resource allocations in the context of personal selling, and how firms can strategically enhance the performance of their salespeople. Theoretically, the study develops resource utilization scale, and empirically tests its effects on prospecting performance. From a managerial stand point, this dissertation offers additional insights into the effectiveness of each type of resources to plan for selective development of resources, as well as focused sales training.

Lammová, Ivana January 2010 (has links)
This diploma thesis deals with the functioning of the labor market in the Czech Republic its status, development and related concept of lifelong learning and effective use of human capital. The introductory chapters focus on the theoretical definitions of the terms dealing with the concept of lifelong learning and offer a summary of current labor market situation including some statistics. These systems are currently being put into practice to increase the effect of the labor market functions and to fulfill the vision of efficient use of human capital. With these systems is also connected to the European system of qualifications which is described in the following chapter. The final sections deal with the functioning of already established processes including the stage of completion. In these chapters I evaluated the effect of the real market and assessed the development of their implementation. Here I took into an account the role of educational and employment agencies and their impact on the successful fulfillment of the meaning of the whole project. This chapter is an analysis of subsequent developments and the effect on the entire market. Skolans domäner -En undersökning av gymnasieskolans uttryck för kvalifikation, socialisation och subjektifikation

Larsson, Maths January 2019 (has links)
This study has sought to investigate the expressions of content and purpose of the swedish upper secondary school based on three distinct categories. These being Qualification, Socialisation and Subjectification. The questions asked are What expressions do these three categories take as well as What consequences do these expressions have for civics teachers? Critical discourse analysis was leveraged to study the curriculum of 2011 and commentary thereof, as well as the syllabi for the Civics subject and the relevant commentary material thereof. The results show that a great deal of the studied material centers around qualification as an aspect, although the other two are still very much present. In addition to this the presentation of students as individuals in the larger society, as part of these expressions belonging to the categories, overall took on a particularly passive tone, where students were urged to be flexible and adaptable to outside influences rather than become sources of influence themselves. These findings resulted in several questions being raised to civics teachers about how to approach teaching their subject in regards to these particular trends, if they ought to encourage students to the passive mentality, for example.
