Rupture et continuité dans le discours technique arabe d’Internet / Rupture and continuity in the arabic technical discourse of Internet

Affeich, Andrée 29 January 2010 (has links)
This research carried out on a corpus which gathers eleven Arab countries, aims at raising problems related to the rupture and continuity within the Arabic terminology of Internet, terminology created in the Anglophone world, more precisely in the United States. The terms “rupture” and “continuity” show a real conflict between two different linguistic systems: the Arabic language system which we call “indigenous system” and the English language system which we call “foreign system”. The image which takes shape is that of two systems playing chess. At the beginning of the game, the knights of the two sides are mobilized quickly. Those of the “foreign system” try to impose elements which we call “elements of rupture”. The latter appear through the linguistic loan phenomenon with its two forms: the integral loan and the acronyms. In response to these “elements of rupture”, the “indigenous system” mobilizes first of all its two knights, i.e. its two morpho-syntactic means: the subsystem of nomination and the subsystem of communication. Then, in order not to collapse, the “indigenous system” fortifies its position using two other processes: the semantic process which is the metaphor and the discursive process which is the rewording. In this study, we are not aiming at saying which of the two systems won. Indeed, within a period of ten years, we followed the evolution of the Arabic terminology of Internet in order to draw conclusions, and more exactly to draw a general tendency in light of changes that this terminology has known, changes which are certainly not final.

Representação e prática da criação literária na obra de João Cabral de Melo Neto: análise textual e prototextual / Representation and practice of literary creation in the work of João Cabral de Melo Neto: Textual and protextual analysis

Francisco José Gonçalves Lima Rocha 05 July 2011 (has links)
João Cabral de Melo Neto\'s creative conduct is traditionally characterized as an activity directed by an architectonic reasoning, which consciously projects and rigorously realizes the literary work. The approach taken here of his creative thinking that is, of the representations of the act of making in his metalinguistic poems and of his creative practice which is discernible on the glyphs of his manuscripts takes us sensibly away from an architectural paradigm. Instead, we propose to consider Cabral\'s making act as a constant reformulation activity, which produces, during the writing process, new meanings and structures not determined a priori, in this way integrating imprevisibility and instability to the very essence of literary creation.

This policy, created by the MEC, is constituted strategy to decrease the scholar failure and evasion and increase the IDEB, putting Brazil in the our country in the global education reformulation that support their discourse in the market neoliberal logic. The study was made on the Policies Cycle, proposed by Ball, and the discourse analyzes under a Foucault orientation, searching for an understanding of the inter-relations possible among the global and national reformulation movements in the education area and the discursive technologies that had an influence on the All for Education Commitment policy. On the searched context, the official discourse was recontextualized in a hybrid way, in a conflicted game of negotiation, exclusion and punishment. The local subjects were seduced by the possibilities that PAR has created of receiving more resources and increase the teaching conditions on the cities. The PAR action was marked by the adoption of control technologies and scholar and teaching work, mixed to client political practices on the decision processes, conditions inequality among the municipal net schools of education workers as well as teachers, who were engaged on performing conducts that come possible to reach the expected results.

Srovnání "hedging" (atenuace) v politickém diskurzu britské a australské angličtiny / A comparison of political hedging in British and Australian political discourse

Nevrkla, Lukáš January 2016 (has links)
The thesis analyses the pragmatic aspects of the language of political discourse in the particular context of the institute of parliamentary question time. The thesis examines and compares the use of hedging in the context of other communication management strategies (e.g., evasion, reformulation, dodging a footing shift) in the British House of Commons and in the Australian House of Representatives. In addition, the thesis seeks to test the methodological approaches and verify the conclusions reached in previous research, especially by Alan Partington (2003) and Bruce Fraser (2010). The effects of teacher training on foreign language preservice teachers' beliefs : the case of oral corrective feedback

Taddarth, Assma 12 1900 (has links)
The objective of this study is to contribute to the range of research exploring change in teachers' corrective feedback (CF) beliefs to better inform future teacher training programs. The research questions used to accomplish the purpose of this study focused on1) what beliefs Algerian pre-service teachers of French as a foreign language (FFL) at University of Hadj Lakhdar Batna hold regarding CF before a CF training course, 2) how those beliefs change after a CF training course, and 3) what dimensions of the training course influence these pre-service teachers’ beliefs about CF? Two groups of 14 Algerian MA pre-service teachers of FFL-one experimental and one control- participated in this study. The experimental group participated in a teacher training course about CF while the control group did not. The research instruments included a Likert-scale questionnaire and focus group interviews that addressed four CF factors (recasts, prompts, CF implementation and CF importance). Each of the two instruments was administered twice before the training started and immediately after it ended, with only the experimental group taking the pre and post focus group interviews. The training course included theoretical information and empirical results about CF and its dimensionsas well as a practical component (teaching activities).Data obtained from the two research tools were analysed descriptively. Patterns of belief change-in the interviews transcripts- were identified using five categories about types of change (reversal, elaboration, consolidation, pseudo change and no change). Findings indicated that prior to the CF training, preservice teachers' beliefs were barely defined (i.e. they were largely neutral) especially in relation to CF techniques (recasts and prompts) for error type and learner's proficiency level. Furthermore, they were against immediate CF and did not have a clear idea about which errors should be corrected. Concerning the results in belief change, the CF training course was found to be effective. That is, after CF training, there was an obvious shift toward more positive beliefs about immediate CF and more negative beliefs about recasts. Furthermore, participants underwent a total re-construction of their beliefs in relation to the four factors with lots of elaborations. Participants attributed change in their beliefs to the second part of the training course (CF empirical studies, CF techniques and CF implementation). The participants explained that they were exposed for the first time to this content about CF and its dimensions.

The dissertation presents a descriptive-analytical study of the legal and doctrinal discourse of the weighting technique produced in Brazil, based on the ideals held by Ronald Dworkin and Robert Alexy in the field of study of normative species. From the characterization of the Model of Rules proposed by Dworkin and theories of Argumentation and Fundamental Rights, focusing on Alexy‟s theory, each of which originated in different contexts, will be sought to identify their key concepts and fundamentals, and then proceeding to the descriptive and analytical approach to operational discourses emanating from the Brazilian doctrine, what is conventionally called the Theory of Principles, which takes such foreign authors as a theoretical and dogmatic framework. The dissertation, the work of comparatively speeches coming from the foreign and Brazilian doctrines, will examine both the criticism that detract the balancing technique while the hermeneutical method able to offer a controllable and rational response to the conflicts between constitutional rules on the terms of the recast proposals of Brazilian authors who, while accepting the weighting technique, propose different criteria for distinguishing between rules and principles, with the consequent expansion of balancing technique in search of the solution of the constitutional conflicts. This reformist posture shows a recurring and constant in the Brazilian doctrine that intends to improve the original model, enabling the researcher to speak at an application of the weighting technique that diverges from its original design and is commonly advocated among lawyers who share Dworkin intentions and especially Alexy.

Landry, Hélène 08 1900 (has links)
This research presents the effects of an oral teaching-learning sequence inspired by approaches to children's philosophy and plurilingual approaches to discourse competence (the justification and reformulation) of second language learners in school. Thoses students are 3rd cycle of primary school. This is an exploratory type case study with six students cases. During the philosophical discussions, which is the oral genre set up to practice justification and reformulation, the data collected through video recordings have found that the teaching of the two discursive competence allows students to talk more in thoses discussions. The teaching-learning sequence helped the students to produce more elaborate justifications and to use reformulations to overcome communication breakdowns during the interactions. Finally, the learning of the two discursive behaviors permits to know that the interactions are more related to each other and the scaffolding is done more between the students.

Integrated Aircraft Fleeting, Routing, and Crew Pairing Models and Algorithms for the Airline Industry

Shao, Shengzhi 23 January 2013 (has links)
The air transportation market has been growing steadily for the past three decades since the airline deregulation in 1978. With competition also becoming more intense, airline companies have been trying to enhance their market shares and profit margins by composing favorable flight schedules and by efficiently allocating their resources of aircraft and crews so as to reduce operational costs. In practice, this is achieved based on demand forecasts and resource availabilities through a structured airline scheduling process that is comprised of four decision stages: schedule planning, fleet assignment, aircraft routing, and crew scheduling. The outputs of this process are flight schedules along with associated assignments of aircraft and crews that maximize the total expected profit. Traditionally, airlines deal with these four operational scheduling stages in a sequential manner. However, there exist obvious interdependencies among these stages so that restrictive solutions from preceding stages are likely to limit the scope of decisions for succeeding stages, thus leading to suboptimal results and even infeasibilities. To overcome this drawback, we first study the aircraft routing problem, and develop some novel modeling foundations based on which we construct and analyze an integrated model that incorporates fleet assignment, aircraft routing, and crew pairing within a single framework. Given a set of flights to be covered by a specific fleet type, the aircraft routing problem (ARP) determines a flight sequence for each individual aircraft in this fleet, while incorporating specific considerations of minimum turn-time and maintenance checks, as well as restrictions on the total accumulated flying time, the total number of takeoffs, and the total number of days between two consecutive maintenance operations. This stage is significant to airline companies as it directly assigns routes and maintenance breaks for each aircraft in service. Most approaches for solving this problem adopt set partitioning formulations that include exponentially many variables, thus requiring the design of specialized column generation or branch-and-price algorithms. In this dissertation, however, we present a novel compact polynomially sized representation for the ARP, which is then linearized and lifted using the Reformulation-Linearization Technique (RLT). The resulting formulation remains polynomial in size, and we show that it can be solved very efficiently by commercial software without complicated algorithmic implementations. Our numerical experiments using real data obtained from United Airlines demonstrate significant savings in computational effort; for example, for a daily network involving 344 flights, our approach required only about 10 CPU seconds for deriving an optimal solution. We next extend Model ARP to incorporate its preceding and succeeding decision stages, i.e., fleet assignment and crew pairing, within an integrated framework. We formulate a suitable representation for the integrated fleeting, routing, and crew pairing problem (FRC), which accommodates a set of fleet types in a compact manner similar to that used for constructing the aforementioned aircraft routing model, and we generate eligible crew pairings on-the-fly within a set partitioning framework. Furthermore, to better represent industrial practice, we incorporate itinerary-based passenger demands for different fare-classes. The large size of the resulting model obviates a direct solution using off-the-shelf software; hence, we design a solution approach based on Benders decomposition and column generation using several acceleration techniques along with a branch-and-price heuristic for effectively deriving a solution to this model. In order to demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed model and solution approach and to provide insights for the airline industry, we generated several test instances using historical data obtained from United Airlines. Computational results reveal that the massively-sized integrated model can be effectively solved in reasonable times ranging from several minutes to about ten hours, depending on the size and structure of the instance. Moreover, our benchmark results demonstrate an average of 2.73% improvement in total profit (which translates to about 43 million dollars per year) over a partially integrated approach that combines the fleeting and routing decisions, but solves the crew pairing problem sequentially. This improvement is observed to accrue due to the fact that the fully integrated model effectively explores alternative fleet assignment decisions that better utilize available resources and yield significantly lower crew costs. / Ph.

Goria, Stéphane 20 January 2006 (has links) (PDF)
