Roa Barrera, Andrea Zenaida January 2005 (has links)

Duchenne’s Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) is a lethal childhood disease, a X-linked recessive disorder, caused by mutations of the dystrophyn gene, a protein that has a vital role in maintaining muscle structure and function. DMD is a progressive muscular disease, that affects 1:3500 born boys. At this moment, the dogs with Golden Retriever Muscular Dystrophy (GRMD), is the best animal model to study DMD. GRMD dog exhibits muscle changes, pathogenesis and phenotype comparable with the DMD boys. In GRMDs the muscular weakness beginning with 60 days of life and this is progressive. Histologically, the muscles show necrosis, fibrosis, degeneration and regeneration. The pathogenesis manifests in utero with the development of lingual muscle lesions. The tongue hypertrophy is associated with pharyngeal and esophageal dysfunction, and results in dysphagia, regurgitation and drooling. The research with steam-cells has a great potential to significative advances in owner knowledge about cellular differentiation, with the promise of therapeutic applications in genetic disorders and in degenerative or incurable diseases...(Complete abstract, click electronic access below)

Destes resultados podemos... / The purpose of this study was to characterize the lesions in dystrophic muscles of DMGR dogs of different ages, by means of histopathological and immunohistochemistry analysis. Twenty-five male dogs were classified and distributed into groups according to the age: Group I - dystrophic up to 1 year, group II - dystrophic over 1 year, group III - control up to 1 year, group IV - control over 1 year. One sample from each muscle was fixed in formalin solution, processed by usual techniques of paraffin embedding, stained with HE and TGM for histopathological purposes and processed for immunohistochemical analysis of the distribution of T-lymphocytes CD3+, MHC II and vimentin. Other samples were frozen in liquid nitrogen, processed by usual techniques of freezing in order to perform the techniques of immunohistochemical labelling for CD4+ T-lymphocytes, T-CD8+ and MHC I. The results of histopathological analysis showed that the lesions in dystrophic muscles in the Group I were moderate compared to that ones in the Group II which were severe. The CD3+, CD4+ and CD8+ Tlymphocytes were more numerous in dystrophic muscles especially in areas of degeneration and necrosis. The number of CD3+ and CD4+ T-lymphocytes was found to be significantly higher (p <0.05) in all dystrophic muscles compared to controls demonstrating the involvement of T-lymphocytes in the disease. The number of CD8+ Tlymphocytes was found to be significantly higher (p <0.05) in dystrophics, except for the cranial sartorius muscles in the Group I and the diaphragm and biceps femoris in the Group II. The immunoexpression of MHC I increased with age in dystrophic animals, in contrast to MHC II that remained the same. The immunoexpression of vimentin and VEGF in the dystrophic muscles was mild (score 1) upon all muscles. From these results we can conclude that in dystrophic muscle immunoexpression of... Cover me, I'm going public! : “The relationship between IPO and media coverage”

Samir Sulaka, Ronni, Strand, Carl January 2018 (has links)
Background: The number of IPOs has been numerous in recent years. Moreover, the returns of the IPOs managed to either be over and underpriced. IPO-firms are generally unknown before they get listed. Therefore, the media outlets play an essential role in the dissemination of information to new investors. Thus, it becomes noteworthy to investigate whether media attention could be an explanatory factor for the first-day returns and how it affects an IPO in the short-term perspective. Research Questions: i) If the amount of media coverage two months pre-IPO has any relation with the first trading day return and ii) If the amount of media coverage helps to predict the IPOs stock return volatility after a two-month period (44 trading days)? Purpose: This research will attempt to find evidence if the amount of media coverage pre- IPO may drive the demand for the IPO and the first-day return. For this purpose, it is also necessary to find the under and/or overpricing. Furthermore, a regression analysis will be applied during a two-month period after the first trading day to investigate if increasing volatility depends on the amount of media coverage. Delimitations: The sample consists of 165 IPOs in Sweden from Aktietorget and OMX Stockholm during the period 2005-2017. IPOs are initial introductions that are not unit IPOs, mergers & acquisitions, right issues, spin-offs or buy-out firms. Method: The first research question is explained by a Pearson correlation where X is the media variable and tested against the degree of under or overpricing. Furthermore, a multiple-linear regression is examined where variables market index, Retriever data and trading volume is tested against stock return. Conclusion: It has been identified that Aktietorget has been overpriced 2005-2017 by 2.9% while OMXS has been underpriced 6.8%. In summary, the study did not manage statistically to ensure that the amount of media coverage significantly influenced the stock return volatility.

Efterfrågan av frivillig revision i mikrobolag : En kvantitativ studie om efterfrågan på revision baserat på en undersökning av företagens karaktärsdrag / Demand for voluntary audit in micro companies : A quantitative study about the demand for audit based on the characteristics of the companies

Andersson, Anni, Dehlin, Mary January 2023 (has links)

Lesser Hermansson, Johan, Lindegren, Niklas January 2023 (has links)
Background Traditional banks monopolized financial services, but the 2008 crisis spurred Fintech's emergence as an alternative. Fintech challenges banks with innovative solutions, while Sweden thrives as a Fintech hub. Profitability is vital due to the recent shift in focus from growth. Modern Fintech research is lacking, thus creating gaps in both knowledge and studies among the Swedish Fintech-sphere. Purpose The study analyzes leverage, return on equity, and bank size ratios in Swedish Fintech companies. It examines their impact on profit margin and aims to identify correlations. The results aim to enhance understanding and provide guidance for optimizing key figures to increase profitability among Swedish Fintech-companies. Methodology The study utilized a quantitative approach with a deductive method and cross-sectional design. Data consisted of secondary data and was collected through the database Retriever Business. A total of 1198 observations were analyzed using correlation matrix, bivariate, and multivariate regression analyses. Results The quantitative analysis revealed that both debt to equity ratio and return on equity has a significant relationship, while bank size has only a partially significant relationship with profit margin. Conclusion Swedish Fintech-companies reveals a positive relationship between return on equity (ROE) and profitability. Furthermore, the leverage ratio also positively affects profitability. Moreover, Bank size shows a slight negative impact.
