En lärarutbildning för en mångsidig värld : En historisk genomgång av den interkulturella lärarutbildningen på Södertörns Högskola

Martin, Christofer January 2010 (has links)

The aim of this essay is to describe the historical development of the intercultural teacher training program at Södertörn University in Stockholm. I have also examined how the intercultural teacher training program was started, how and why it became intercultural and how the people in charge of the development of the teacher training program discussed intercultural science. The teacher training program has been an active part of Södertörn University since 1998, but it became intercultural in 2002. I have studied these questions through documents from the Södertörn University archives and literature by the funders of the education. The study shows that the university profile, ambitions and motives have been a key factor in the decision to make the teacher training program at Södertörn a multi-cultural one.

När livsvärldar möts : En kvalitativ studie om interkulturella frågors plats i pedagogers upplevda verklighet

Styve, Tina Maud, Fernández, Tove January 2019 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to gain knowledge about the preschool pedagogue’s perspective, values and way of thinking in terms of interculturality. Furthermore, to then compare this knowledge in relation to Södertörn University intercultural profile. Above this, we want to differentiate what can happen between the two. The more isolated purpose of the aforementioned study is not to find right nor wrong, but to gain knowledge about the experienced reality of the pedagogue and as to how this mirrors preschool operations. The question formulation of the study is: which perspective and ways of thinking are conveyed in Södertörn University intercultural profile? Which perspective and ways of thinking in terms of interculturality can be found in pedagogues that are active within the preschools we have visited? What can occur in the engagement between the two? The study is qualitative, and the method constitutes of interviews and observations. Eight pedagogues have participated in the study, whereof two participated in a pilot study. The theoretical viewpoints of the study is selected theories and aspects regarding phenomenology. These have been used to find explanations for the experienced reality of the pedagogues in terms of interculturality. The pivotal conclusion in our study is that Södertörn University definition of interculturality deviates from both contemporary research, as well as what appears in testimony from the pedagogues, which in turn is part of their daily world. This deviation consists of that Södertörn University has a widened definition of interculturality where more cultural aspects are included. A consecution of this conclusion is that the pedagogues who meet in the workplace can have different perceptions regarding intercultural work.

Södertörns Högskola - en skola för B laget? : En diskursteoretisk analys

Mahdavipour, Mernaz January 2011 (has links)
Södertörn University was built in the suburb of Stockholm to bring hope for students that aren’t used to study. Ever since the university was built there has been a debate on internet message boards such as Flashback and a discourse has developed in the recent five years. The public discourse has had a negative influence on how the university is perceived by the public. The purpose of this study is to analyze how this discourse has developed the image of the university and how it has evolved. The empirical material consists of messages from the Flashback message board and two electronic articles from Svenska Dagbladet, "Ge Södertörns högskola en ärlig chans att växa" and "Högskolefusk ökar- Södertörns storsatsar". In this study I have processed the material from a thematic analysis and a discourse point of view in a textual interpretation of the board messages and the SvD articles. The result shows that the university's status is presented as low due to negative attitudes among the message board writers. The articles – in contrast - show a positive image of the university and have a less critical position. The criticism is not aimed at Södertörn University as an institution, but the students who attend the university.

När skolan är slut : En studie om journaliststudenters etablering på arbetsmarknaden

Westman, Ville, Svensson Glaser, Matilda January 2012 (has links)
In this thesis we have studied how and in what extent former students at Södertörn University’s four journalism programs establish themselves in the journalistic labor market. This is accomplished through a survey of 149 students that graduated from these programs two respectively five years ago. Similar studies have been done three times before and we have also been able to use those in our analysis. Many factors have been studied, e.g. what program the students attended, the age of the students and if they have studied any subjects other than those at their journalistic program. In our survey the respondents have answered what kind of knowledge they think is most useful to them and what knowledge they feel they would like to have acquired more or less of from the journalistic program. We have also studied which of the students who establish themselves in the labor markets of public relations and communication. Several correlations between these variables are established in this thesis. Those who have attended the program Journalism and multimedia establish themselves in the journalistic labor market in a higher extent than students in the other programs. The students who are over 35 years of age at the moment of the survey are established at a considerably lower extent than younger students. Another factor that affects in what extent the students establish themselves is if they have studied any subjects other than those at their journalistic program. In those cases, the probability of those people working with journalism is considerably lower.
