Modelagem de um agente pedagógico animado para um ambiente colaborativo: considerando fatores sociais relevantes / Modeling of an animated pedagogical agent for a collaborative environment : considering relevant social factors

Prola, Maria Teresa Medronha January 2003 (has links)
The following work is inserted in the research entitled: “A Computational Model of Distance Learning based on the Socio-Interactionist Approach”, which proposes an educational environment that privileges collaboration as a form of interaction. The research in this project aims to subsidize the shaping of actions for the modeling of an Animated Pedagogical Agent used for interacting with students in a Teaching/Learning Environment under development. The modeling of decisions for the strategy on an agent’s performance was obtained from “log” files at the end of discussions concerning the “chat” tool out of relevant factors of interaction among student groups. The experience was carried out with students in Algorithms and Programming offered in the course of Graduation at UFRGS (Universidade Federal Do Rio Grande do Sul) where some considerably important factors were attained in the adaptation of an environment for students in interaction. Such factors are shown in this project as well as the identification technique.

We sample 1000 patients from the public health system of the metropolitan area of Recife. Among then 57% were diagnostic as depressive and the others as suffering some humor disturbance. The social factors that we took in account were age, professional activity, condition civil, son, education level and sanitary area. The data we analyzed through multivariate analysis, i.e. , principal component analysis and discriminate analysis. We found out that, among the considered social factors, age, civil, and professional activity are the most important factors as longs depression is concerned. Further, the discriminate analysis shown that there exists a statistical significant difference between the group of women which are probable diagnostic as depressive and the other group in our sample.

Fatores relacionados à ocorrência de Leishmaniose Tegumentar Americana no Vale do Ribeira / Factors related to the occurrence American cutaneous leishmaniasis in the Ribeira Valley

Alessandra Ferreira da Silva 18 December 2008 (has links)
This work is an ecological descriptive study on the American cutaneous leishmaniasis (ACL) in the Ribeira Valley region of Sao Paulo (composed of 23 municipalities), which aimed to correlate the incidence of the disease with environmental and social factors. The paper refers to the period 1998 to 2006 which was divided into three years, the first from 1998 to 2000, the second from 2001 to 2003 and the third from 2004 to 2006. The rates of incidence of ACL were calculated for these periods (Coefmtr1, Coefmtr2 and Coefmtr3) Szklo seconds. This division was made in accordance with the graphics characteristics of the coefficients of incidence of ACL in the period, which has shown a period in a first stage of the disease endemic in the second period (2001 to 2003) the peak incidence analysis shows that characterizes a epidemic period strong. In the second period some municipalities show peaks of incidence of proportions lower than those observed in the previous period, yet still features the epidemic stage. The rates of incidence are dependent variables of the three regression models performed. The independent variables were obtained from sources in secondary databases, and are: in nature and socio-demographic, related climatic conditions, a political-geographical and physical and biological. These variables were separated in quality and quantity respectively and analyzed by non-parametric tests for Spearman and Mann Whitney and selected for the process of regress multiple model, the variables with p <0.20. There was a need for three different models to see if the determining factors that led to the series to behave in a different way, would be the same or not. What we understand is that there is a change in the pattern of the first to the other two periods. The study points to socio-demographic factors as determinants in the incidence of ACL and the presence of vector

Pohled žáků na sociální faktory významně ovlivňující jejich motivaci k učení / Pupils look at social factors significantly affecting their motivation for learning

Kohoutová, Veronika January 2017 (has links)
Presented thesis deals with the eighth-grade elementary school pupils' view on social factors significantly affecting their learning motivation. The paper is of theoreticaly-empirical character. The base for the theoretical part is consisted of definitions of the main concepts, such as motivation and learning, social factors, environment, adolescence and demarcation of the major social factors influencing learning motivation. The main goal of the empirical part is to find out, to what extent social factors (parents, teachers, peers) are influential to learning motivation of the eight-graders. There is also a qualitative research presented. The data were collected via semi-structured interviews and analysed using ground theory principles. In total, ten interviews with the eighth-grade pupils were conducted. The main finding of the research is, that informants are mostly motivated by their parents. The teachers most commonly affect the motivation in negative manner. Peer group is the factor, which can be both motivating (by mutual learning help between pupils) and demotivating (by distracting from learning proces). In addition we discovered there are different views on influence of the social factors on pupils who are motivated intrinsically and the ones who are not. Based on the findings in this...

Håll dörrarna öppna : Gymnasieungdomars tankar kring sina studieval

Rydgren, Lovisa, Hagman, Britt-Marie January 2020 (has links)
The study aims to examine students on the Natural Sciences program and their thoughts on their choice of program as well as what may have influenced their decision. Semi-structured interviews have been used as a data collection method and a phenomenological approach has been taken to seek answers to the study's research questions. The study shows that there are many similarities between the interviewees' ways of reasoning about their choice. Influencing factors that are prominent among the interviewees are, for example, the importance of the grades for program selection and interest. The study shows that students tend to sort themselves into a compartment based on self-perception and then adapt the program choice. As a theoretical framework for the study, Hodkinson's and Sparkes's sociological theory of career choice has been used.

A thematic inquiry into the dominant cultural and familial factors in South African coloured people's experience of anorexia nervosa : a qualitative study

Stemmet, Leatia 08 April 2010 (has links)
This study seeks to explore anorexia nervosa as experienced within the South African coloured community in the specific. It represents an examination of themes within the participants’ depictions, discovering those themes that concur with existent literature, as well as discerning novel themes within the target group. Literature proves to yield varied results with regard to anorexia as presented in diverse cultures. Sufficient awareness is lacking within the South African context, where a scarcity of available literature that explores the experiences of the coloured anorexic individual necessitates the need for the current study. The contributing factors are viewed to involve societal, cultural, and familial aspects, all of which are situated within a systemic frame of reference. Systems theory provides the foundation within which these factors are explored, aiming to provide the reader with in-depth knowledge as to the functioning of the anorectic patient. It should be noted that these factors are interconnected, influencing each other in a circular manner. Attention is awarded to not only larger systems of societal and cultural influences, but also serves to encompass the functioning of the anorectic within the familial system. The reciprocity that exists within and between sub-systems is investigated, with the focus being the interrelatedness between members. Recursive feedback and associated processes are examined as they relate to the development and maintenance of anorexia. A qualitative research design was applied, where semi-structured interviews served as the chosen data collection strategy. Interviews were conducted at the hospital where they received treatment, and aimed to extract the meanings inherent in the participants’ experiences. A limited availability of diagnosed coloured anorexic individuals resulted in two willing participants partaking in the study. Thematic networks enabled the researcher to explore their representations in depth, leading to the subsequent organising of themes for further analysis. Two global themes emerged upon examination, the first of which was identified as “familial impact and patterns”, consisting of organising themes of relational positioning and interactional processes. Organising themes of expectations and internal emotional states constitute the second global theme of “control”. These themes are supported by a variety of basic themes, all of which serve to enhance the understanding of the organising themes, contributing to the respective global themes. Extensive exploration of the discovered themes followed, with the investigation proceeding within a systems theory framework. A conclusive discussion serves the purpose of bringing the exploration to a close. Relevant literature is incorporated into the discussion, providing the reader with an integrated understanding of the findings of the study within the broader field of anorexia nervosa. Socialarbetares erfarenhet av att arbeta med missbruk och beroende problematiken : En kvalitativ intervjustudie med socialsekreterare och behandlare / Social workers experience working with substance abuse and dependency issues : A qualitative interview study with social workers and therapists

Omarin, Ahmed, Mohamed Ali, Zahraa January 2023 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to enhance understanding of the perspectives and insights of social services regarding the underlying factors contributing to the development of problematic alcohol and drug use in adults over 18 years of age. The paper aims to examine and analyze the various underlying factors that may play a role in the development of substance abuse and dependence in adults, as well as relapse. This paper focuses on the perspectives and experiences of social workers and therapists working with adults with alcohol and drug abuse within the Social Services. The study aims to extend criminological research by investigating adults with substance dependency issues, which differs from existing research predominantly focused on youth and their substance abuse problems. The study conducted 6 qualitative semi-structured interviews, two with social workers and four with therapists from two municipalities in central Sweden. The findings demonstrate that the underlying causes of dependence vary widely among different individuals. However, there are common patterns that increase the risk of developing addiction or experiencing relapse.
