Title: Comparison of the results of the annual examination of professional soldiers in years 2008-2015. Aim: The aim of the thesis is to describe the grades of the annual examination of physical training of professional soldiers (VZP) in 2008-2015 before and after the introduction of a new system of physical performance evaluation. The monitored group consists of soldiers and soldiers of the Army of the Czech Republic (ACR), who are subordinate to the Chief of the General Staff of the Czech Republic Army. The secondary aim of the thesis is a longitudinal comparison of the individual performances in the annual testing tests in the years 2011 to 2015 in the 43th Airborne Battalion. We will find out the results of VZP in the period we have determined, focusing on age categories. Methods: This is a quantitative study. A comparison of the percentages of individual marks over the years is performed using the Pearson chi- square test. Due to the size of the research population, the statistical comparison is performed on a random sample from the research sample (N = 500 test subjects). For the secondary objective, we assessed the changes in test results over the years (2011 to 2015) using a hierarchical linear model for both dependent variables (Cooper's test and pull ups), one separate model with...

Previous issue date: 2015-03-20 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / This research analyzes the representation of the american soldiers as an image of the role model to the latin-americans. In this perspective, that the speech presented in the texts and images of the analyzed publication is part of the Good Neighbor Policy, it can be disclosed in the debate around the representation transmited and the internal influences that build it. The investigation arrises from the observation of the 48 editions of Em Guarda, the magazine published between 1941 and 1945, by the Office of the Coordinatior of Inter American Affairs. Starting from a quantitative analysis, in which it was identified the relapses, some of the editions were picked, based on the soldiers thematic, and the texts and imagens were put under a qualitative analysis. Understanding that this soldiers were presented as Heros-Citizen-Soldiers, the work focused on the debate of this concept, from the founding myth of being americans, and as a reference to the image of the cowboy. By this measures, its possible to understand some process and intentions of the americanization of the continent / Esta pesquisa se propõe a analisar a representação dos soldados americanos como a imagem de indivíduo modelar para os latino-americanos.

Obliterating Middle-Class Culpability: Sarah Grand's New Woman Short Fiction in George Bentleys Temple BarClawson, Nicole Perry 01 March 2017 (has links)
Scholars interested in the popular Victorian periodical Temple Bar have primarily focused on the editorship of George Augustus Sala, under whom the journal paradoxically began delivering controversial content to conservative middle-class readers. But while the Temple Bar's sensation fiction and social realism have already been considered, critics have not yet examined Temple Bar's New Woman fiction, which was published during the last decade of the 19th century and George Bentley's reign as editor-in-chief. While functioning as editor-in-chief, Bentley sought to adhere to the dictates found in the 1860 prospectus, to "inculcate thoroughly English sentiment: respect for authority, attachment to the Church, and loyalty to the Queen." The Temple Bar seems an odd publication venue for the audacious New Woman writer Sarah Grand. And yet, Grand published several short stories in Temple Bar under the editorship of Bentley. Knowing Bentley's infamous editorial hatchet work, we might assume that he would cut from Grand's writing any unsavory bits of traditional New Woman content. Instead, a comparison of Grand's Temple Bar stories, "Kane, A Soldier Servant" and "Janey, A Humble Administrator," with their later unedited, republished versions (found in Grand's Our Manifold Nature) suggests that Bentley had a different editorial agenda. This analysis of Grand's fiction demonstrates that it was not New Woman subjects that Bentley found objectionable but the culpability her texts placed on the upper-middle class for their failure to act on behalf of the lower classes. Examining Bentley's removal of this material thus sheds new light on the dangers of New Woman literature as perceived by its Victorian audiences.

Dětský voják v mezinárodním právu / Child Soldier in International LawKučerová, Zuzana January 2019 (has links)
Zuzana Kučerová: Child Soldier in International Law Abstract This thesis deals with child soldiers from the perspective of the international law. It is predominantly concerned with two questions: protection of children from recruiting and their possible criminal responsibility for international crimes. After a short introductory chapter, which covers a brief history of child soldiers, the second part gives an overview of international legal instruments which aim at preventing the underaged from being recruited into armed groups, as well as from taking part in hostilities. Those instruments belong to three different branches of international law: humanitarian law, human rights law and international criminal law. The author concludes that international criminal law in particular is the best instrument to protect children from becoming child soldiers. The reason is that international criminal law applies directly to individuals, including non-state actors such as commanders of paramilitary forces. It is also in force at the times when there is no armed conflict as defined by international humanitarian law. The third part of the work focuses on criminal responsibility of children for international crimes. The major question in this field is whether we can prosecute children for those crimes at all. On the one...

Krav på utbildaren : Framtida krav på utbildaren efter införandet av kontraktsanställning av soldater / Requirements on the trainer : Future requirements on the trainer after the introducing of contracted soldiersMårdh, Sebastian January 2010 (has links)

/
The Swedish Armed Forces gets more task and more difficult problems to solve in the future. International efforts are becoming an increasingly larger part of The Armed Forces activities. The conflicts in the areas of action are complex and require that the Armed Forces have well trained officers and soldiers. At the same time The Armed Forces strive to have units ready to deploy and implement an effort on short notice. This has led to The Armed Forces in the future will recruit soldiers on a voluntary basis and that the compulsory military service will be abolished. The soldiers become part of a standing unit, where the motivation to solve the task is high. In order to recruit soldiers for the troops required that the training will have a high quality, is evolving and challenging for the soldier. The above-presented conditions contribute to, in my opinion that the requirements of the person who educate and train ought to change. The purpose of this paper is to investigate what the requirements, in the future, will be on the trainer to train contracted soldiers? The study is based on officer’s view of the current and future requirements for the trainer. The results of the survey show that the requirements for the combat training, in all inextricably, will be the same. Where the requirement of personal skills are important. However, the requirements related to leadership and attitude will change compared to earlier. Among other things, officers believe that building confidence and be a model of education is important, to motivate the soldiers to be developed.

Försvarsmaktens professionalisering : Påverkande faktorer för soldatrekryteringen / The Swedish Armed Forces professionalization : Effecting factors for the recruitment of soldiersStenberg, Oskar January 2010 (has links)

/
In a near future the Swedish Armed Forces will undergo one of the biggest processes since the transformation towards a more expeditionary force began in the 90’s. The supply of soldiers changes from being full out based on conscription to a professionalization of all personnel and soldiers are to be voluntarily recruited and contracted into the Armed Force’s different units. With a base in the report: Soldatförsörjning – Redogörelse för modellerna i Danmark, Nederländerna och Spanien (Supply of soldiers – A presentation of the systems used in Denmark, the Netherlands and Spain;writers own translation.) by Bernt Öström, the two nations, Denmark and the Netherlands are studied to identify effecting factors in their system of soldier supply. The two nations armed forces are described briefly, a historic background to the change and the situation in soldier supply today is added. This is analyzed and operationalized to bring forth the essential factors that is affecting the supply of soldiers in the countries at focus. These are compared and discussed with the purpose of illustrating the factors. Finally the writer shares some reflections on the subject and presents conclusions concerning the factors at hand and the future Swedish recruitment and supply of soldiers.
