Från Norge till IS : Analyser av en ung mans radikalisering / From Norway to IS : Analyzes of a young man’s radicalization

Grahn, Jenny January 2021 (has links)

Recreation, Livestock Grazing, and Protected Resource Values in the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument

Palmer, Lael 01 May 2001 (has links)
This thesis reports the results of a project which identified differences in characteristics of Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument user groups as they related to their perceptions of how they experience the Monument as recreationists. It explored opinions of four groups: hikers vs. hunters and pre-designation users vs. post-designation users. Responses of these groups were compared for attribution of perceived resource damage, feelings of crowding, acceptability of management action, and importance of identified monument values to their visit. In addition, characteristics of the users were examined to determine if demographic characteristics accounted for differences in perception toward the resources. Finally, how these groups perceived grazing livestock and multiple uses on the monument was examined. Significant differences were found between most categories in hunters and hikers. Predesignation visitors and post-designation visitors differed only in a few categories.

Modellering av krökta vangstycken iTekla Structures

Svensson, Lisa, Thurén, Josefine January 2017 (has links)
In this thesis, a study has been conducted to develop and compare methods of modeling curved stringer made of steel with complex geometries in the Tekla Structures program. The delimitation of the study has been to compare two methods: Method 1 uses the Complex Polybeam Creation tools in combination with Surface Generation Between Polybeams in Tekla, and Method 2 uses the tool Spiral Staircase. A spiral staircase from the project Patienten and Princeton, Sankt Eriks Eye Hospital in Hagastaden, Stockholm, has been used to test the complex geometries that this spiral staircase entails. Based on this, Tutorials of the two methods have been created, so that the reader can easily follow and implement the same steps. The result of this thesis is that both methods work for modeling, depending on the type of geometry that is created. After modeling with the tool Spiral Staircase, correct manufacturing drawings of the horizontal plates could not be obtained, unlike Method 1. The conclusion of the study is that with only rapid modeling of circular geometries as well as production of manufacturing drawings for vertical curved plates, Method 2 can be used with advantage. However, in the production of manufacturing drawings of complex and non-circular geometries, Method 1 is best suited.

The Path to a Homel : Housing first and the staircase model

Jelliqi, Vlera, Ahnfeldt, Julia January 2022 (has links)
Homelessness is a widespread social problem in Sweden. The phenomenon of homelessness is a complex subject area that involves several challenges and difficulties. In Sweden, the staircase model prevails within the Social Services work to counteract homelessness. Of this, Housing-first emerged as a counter-critique of the staircase model. The questions we have asked in this study are what difficulties and obstacles models face in practice, and how the work process from the staircase model to Housing-first can look like. The method in this work has been a systematic literature study of previous research material. The results have shown that Housing-first model has had good results in Sweden. Furthermore, the results have shown that it is difficult to exclude the staircase model in the current homelessness work. The results show that Housing-first model is cost-effective and that it leads to better living conditions for the individual. The Housing-first model has proved to have long-lasting effects, and many have remained living in their apartments for several years. Furthermore, this work will shed light on the difficulties and obstacles the model may face in the implementation of homelessness work in Sweden. And what a potential transition can look like, from the staircase model to the Housing-first model.

Generally, mounts utilize metals such as aluminum and steel. These metals have high fatigue strength and its degradation temperature transmitted by the engines is very small. This work aimed to study the replacement of the aluminum mounts engine by glass fiber reinforced polyamide composite in order to reduce the mass. Polyamide reinforced with fiberglass is the choice that offers the best compromise of a recyclable material, with adequate thermal and fatigue resistance. The composite used was the commercial polyamide PA66 with 0%, 30%, 35%, 50% glass fiber. This study will focus mainly on the fatigue properties of the composite at temperatures of engine operation. The fatigue tests of the composite with glass fiber additions were performed on flexure specimens at 120°C. The fatigue behavior of the composite was analyzed using the staircase method. The results obtained in fatigue tests showed that the polyamide with 50% glass fiber has the lowest deflection. The observations of the fracture surfaces of the tested specimens were made by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). These observations by SEM showed an excellent adhesion of glass fiber in the polyamide. Analyzes will also be conducted by simulation using the Finite Element Method (FEM) from fatigue results and the conditions of use of the component. The comparison by the FEM of the mounts manufactured of glass fiber reinforced polyamide composite and of aluminum alloy indicated similar results with respect to stress levels. The fatigue tests results and of the simulation by finite element method showed a good possibility of substitution of the aluminum alloy by glass fiber reinforced polyamide composite in the mounts, with a reduction in weight of 0.2 kg (32%).

Experimentelle Untersuchungen von Fingerströmung und thermohalinen Treppen für instabile Auftriebsverhältnisse / Experimental study of finger convection and thermohaline staircases with destabilizing density gradient

Kellner, Matthias 13 April 2016 (has links)

The Army of God : An examination of religiously motivated violence from a psychology of religion perspective.

Wirén, Sacharias January 2016 (has links)
The purpose of this qualitative study was to examine psychological processes that can contribute to religiously motivated violence from a psychology of religion perspective in relation to the collective meaning-system of the Christian militant anti-abortion movement the Army of God. The study applied a single-case design and the data was collected through semi-structured interviews with 3 prominent figures within Army of God, as well as through 43 qualitative documents and 4 autobiographical books. The collected data was analyzed through a deductive approach, implementing the concept of sanctification, social identity theory, selective moral disengagement, and the Staircase to Terrorism model. The results show that the collective meaning-system of the Army of God can be understood as a form of religious fundamentalism that acts as a frame that binds the members together, and from which social categorization and group identification can induce acts of violence. The results also demonstrate that abortion is perceived as a grave injustice and destruction of something sacred, and how it leads to a moral outrage and aggression by constituting a threat towards one’s social identity. This threat moves the individuals towards a ‘black-and-white’ and ‘the ends justify the means’ mentality. The act of violence is further prompted by a perceived duty from God and facilitated by a dehumanization of the perceived enemy. The findings of the study address the need of primary empirical data in the psychological research of violent extremism. Furthermore, it brings further knowledge regarding religiously motivated violence and leaderless resistance by taking into account the search for significance and sacred values. In contrast to previous research the current study also demonstrates that a leader or a well-structured group is not necessarily a key factor when explaining religiously motivated violence from a social psychological perspective. This can contribute to the theoretical understanding regarding social identity and a collective meaning-making in relation to violent extremism and lone-wolf terrorism.
