The horizon of time to be studied is divided in three distinct periods. The first one is from 1945 to 1964. The second one is from 1964 to the begging of the 1970 s. And the last one goes from the middle of the 1970 s to the beginning of the 1980 s. In the first period, which is characterized by the beginning of the rural unionism in Brazil and ends with the coup d etat in 1964, it is identified the main forces on the scene, the way they were organized and how they used to fight, observing both who had the power of the organizations and the main changes that took place during the period. In the second period, the way the FETAG registered the conditions of the land s conflicts, its perception and definition of what was legitimate to be claimed in each historical moment and the arguments considered appropriate and legitimate of being used to direct such conflicts are taking into account. In addition, we used that background to understand who was the main actors to whom and for whom FETAG was interested to convey. In the third and last period, we shed light to the practices of fight of The FETAG, its changes and intensity during these years. During that time, it is possible to identify new forces in scene and the transformation of the strategies of fight along with the beginning of the dialog with the State and with other opponent or allied forces. To carry on this research we have used qualitative procedures, which articulates the analysis of narratives to the theoretical and documentary references. O segundo momento vai de 1964 at? o in?cio dos anos 70.

Slowly, Surely, One Plat, One Binder at a Time: Choking Out Jim Crow and the Development of the Azurest Syndicate Incorporated

Dubinson, GraceLynis 06 May 2012 (has links)
This thesis explores the intersections of a Black Power leisure identity, real property ownership, the progression of economic agency and land development through the example of Black resorts, focusing on Azurest North, a summer community in Sag Harbor, New York developed in the 1950s by Azurest Syndicate Incorporated. The project traces the history of real estate syndicates during the mid-twentieth century as a way to circumvent the practices of Jim Crow housing discrimination. Independent mortgage financing and land development especially in the field of resort housing, also points to the emergence of what I call a Black Power leisure identity. This study also seeks to determine how the American pursuit of leisure during the twentieth century forged identity and how real estate property ownership has been used to maintain and secure community and individual identity.

In this direction there is to consider regional differences accentuated from the 50s with industrialization in the Southeast and the precarious agrarian sector of the Northeast, combined with the works against droughts, such as building dams and roads that favored the large landowners who dominated local politics. In this context we analyze further processes crimes involving workers and an election crime process that leads us to coercion used by the colonels in the elections in the interior of Brazil.

It analyses the establishment of a Union Section of ANDES-SN (Associação Nacional dos Docentes de Ensino Superior-Sindicato Nacional), in a public higher education institution, as well as its struggles and ideals. Research material collected: documents from the archive of Centro de Documentação CEDOC in Secretaria Geral do Sindicato Nacional in Brasília-DF, hrough research in letters, emails, articles, between the trade Union Sections ANDES-SN and APRUMA (Associação dos Professores da Universidade Federal do Maranhão). In São Luís-MA there are the semi-structured interviews with professors who cofounded APRUMA and bibliographic reference which contributes to the understanding and analysis of the object and of the categories which underlie it. As a result of the analysis, we find a historical review of labor conditions and relations in Brazilian Higher Education Institutions which indicates the motivations for founding a national syndical representation, ANDES/SN, and a syndical section at UFMA. The struggles confronted by national syndicate of higher education institutions demonstrate the proletarianization of labor and loss of bargaining power compared to government apparatus and control of research foundation institutions which finance studies in Brazilian universities. These institutions discipline university careers accordingly with financing capital of public policies in education. In this study we consider that syndicate s power and manner of negotiation have changed throughout the last thirty years, specifically highlighted the relationship between Central Única dos Trabalhadores - CUT and President Luís Inácio Lula da Silva. The aim of this work is to understand how the social, political and economic indicators may have interfered in this changing process.

[en] IS IT WORTH THE COST?: LABOR REFORM IN BRAZIL UNDER THE MEDIATION OF LABOR VALUE THEORY / [pt] VALE QUANTO PESA?: REFORMA TRABALHISTA NO BRASIL SOB A MEDIAÇÃO DO VALOR-TRABALHO

FERNANDO DE OLIVEIRA TEIXEIRA DA SILVA 29 December 2011 (has links)
[en] This study has as its objective to analyze the process of actualization in the Brazilian labor laws, which started during Fernando Henrique Cardoso first term and is still taking place in the country today, in the form of a great diversity of bills and other initiatives that either have already changed or are intended to change the labor laws. It ‘s intended to investigate if these modifications – both the ones already accomplished and the ones in the project stage – are intended to institutionalize working practices that are already prevailing, checking the connections between this process and the demand for preserving the accumulation process that is made possible by raising the rates of profit and by increasing the exploration of the surplus value. Thereby it is possible to analyze if the current project of Labor Reform can be described as a legal adaptation to the capitalist productive restructuring that was a late process in Brazil and only took place from the 1990, which would mean a conformation to the capitalist demand. Therefore, it was necessary to make a conceptual investigation of the labor value theory and an analysis of a context distinguished by the neoliberal project and perceived as a suitable moment to make deep changes on work relations laws. Currently it is a common sense statement in Brazil that the Labor Reform is a necessity once we take into account the social and cultural transformations that have occurred in the last decades in the Brazilian society and that would make the Consolidation of the Labor Legislation outdated and obsolete. Considering this political and ideological context, it became necessary to recover the conception of labor as an inevitable basis of the social life as well as its quality as a value creator in a capitalist economy.

[en] LABOR REFORM: UNION CENTERS WITH ARMS CROSSED / [pt] REFORMA TRABALHISTA: CENTRAIS SINDICAIS DE BRAÇOS CRUZADOS

MARIANNE SOBRAL DE OLIVEIRA 31 May 2021 (has links)
[en] The dissertation here presented here brings the result of a study on the paths taken by the labor unions on the flexibilization of rights. It has as general goals the examining were the main factors that allowed the approval of Law 13.467/2017 - entitled Labor Reform - in the National Congress without great combativeness on the part of Brazilian unionism. In order to carry out this study, we used research instruments such as bibliographic research, started in the research project, search for recent works on the subject in the platforms, in the data banks, repositories of theses and dissertations, labor law, and documents related to the theme. The information collected and analyzed on the trajectory of the Labor Reform and its consequences for the unions revealed that the combative practices of such organizations had been changing since the early 1990s until; finally, they were coopted by the PT government in the early 2000s. It is clear, therefore, that the differences between CUT and Força Sindical - the two main Union Labor Centers today - are reduced, as the first becomes a central government and the second has difficulties to exercise the role of opposition. The survey showed, therefore, that the accommodation of the unions before the neoliberal strategies of the government is not so recent and that the path followed by them already pointed in favor of the approval of a labor and union reform, which began gradually and subtly in the government Lula, ending up in Law 13.467 / 2017.
