Společné stolování novozákonní církve perspektivou kolektivní paměti / Dining together in the New Testament church from the collective memory perspective

Černoch, Petr January 2022 (has links)
Petr Černoch - Dining together in the New Testament church from the collective memory perspective - Abstract The collective memory is a relatively new method of studying early Christianity that was taken from the humanities, especially sociology. This diploma thesis chose it as its method of studying the phenomenon of dining together, especially in the manifestation of the ritual of the Eucharist in the 1st century AD. In the first chapter, right after the introduction, this work briefly discussed the development of the study of memory from the collective memory of Mauritius Halwbachs with its social roots. He influenced contemporary memory studies through Jan Assmann, who developed his collective memory of the cultural and described its connection to New Testament research. By defining Cultural Memory, he showed strong links in religion between identity, myth and ritual. The work tried to define the terms myth and ritual with which it operates The next chapter deals with the linguistic and literary world of books, where the words of the establishment of the ritual of the Eucharist are located, discusses their structure and references to food or dining together. The work tried to show the view of the collective memory and thus shed light on some places of tradition and the origin of the ritual of the...

Mýty české hudební alternativy osmdesátých let / Myths of the czech music alternative in the 1980s

Jonssonová, Pavla January 2013 (has links)
Dissertation "Myths of the Czech Music Alternative in the 1980s" presents an anthropological view of the phenomenon of a parallel culture in a limiting situation. On the basis of biographical narratives, additional interviews and data gained from other types of sources, "myths" are constructed for seven major figures of the Czech alternative scene. This is an insider's ethnomusicological interpretation, based on Mircea Eliade's and Bronislaw Malinowski's concepts of myth as recurrent and exemplary models of behavior. The described personalities, Jazz Section (Prometheus), Miroslav Wanek ("hero's journey") Karel Babuljak ("search for paradise lost"), Pavel Zajíček (Odysseus), Mikoláš Chadima ("Rebel"), Oldřich Janota (Hermes), and Marka Míková (Psyche), represent some of the main trends in creative processes of the Czech music alternative scene with myth being used as a metaphor. The metaphor is understood here in the terms of Timothy Rice, i.e. as an organization principle of our thinking, as well as an illuminating image.

Kühn, Franziska 21 April 2023 (has links)

Schwarz, Kristin 02 May 2023 (has links)

On Historical Missions and Modern Phenomena: A Comparison of Germany and the USA on their Way towards the Second World War.

Nowak, Steve 08 May 2010 (has links) (PDF)
There are surprisingly detailed similarities between Germany and the USA on their way towards the Second World War. In this paper, I have compared the nations' expansionist philosophies, their encounter with racism, and the internal conflicts between authoritarian leadership and democracy. I began with an overview of Manifest Destiny and the German myth of the East. Next, I summed up the deep changes that the First World War caused for both societies and how they went into the Great Depression. I examined the rise of scientific racism as part of the international eugenics movement and the emergence of populist leaders during the economic crisis. It became clear that neither expansionism nor racism were genuine German ideologies. In fact, the American Manifest Destiny served as a role-model for German plans in the East. Even the racist concepts of the Third Reich were strongly influenced by American scientists. The main difference seems to be the experience with the First World War and the diversity of American protest during the crisis.

The Indigenismo of Emilio "El Indio" Fernández: Myth, Mestizaje, and Modern Mexico

HILL, Mathew J. K. 10 August 2009 (has links) (PDF)
As one of the major directors of Mexico's Golden Age of Cinema (1936-1956), Emilio “El Indio” Fernández (1904-1986) created films which for many came to express the official vision of Mexican identity. Part of this identity was based on the ideology of indigenismo, which posited that the pre-Columbian past held the basic kernel of Mexico's national essence while advocating the incorporation of modern Indian groups into mainstream society. El Indio's films reflect the paradox of indigenismo: praise for indigenous cultures and a simultaneous effort to make them disappear. The following study examines three of his indigenista films, María Candelaria, Río Escondido, and Maclovia, to see how Fernández created representations of Mexico's indigenous populations that contributed to and deviated from indigenista policies in post-Revolutionary Mexico. This representation relies on the formation of a national myth based on a static, aestheticized Indian which incorporates all Mexicans into official state history.

The Sacrament Of Violence: Myth And War In C.S. Lewis's Ransom Trilogy

Engelhardt, Tanya 01 January 2012 (has links)
My primary aim for this study is to illuminate the Ransom trilogy's inherent psychological and spiritual themes, as well as demonstrate how these themes clarify Lewis's philosophical and political goals for the text. Specifically, by investigating Lewis's mythic imagery and suffering motifs in light of psychoanalytic and theological literary criticisms, I elucidate the reasoning behind Lewis's unique—and at times, horrific—portrayal of fear, violence, and death. I also investigate how Lewis integrates his theology with the horrors of personal and intrapersonal suffering, as well as how he utilizes imagination and myth to explicate the practical (or political) implications of his theodicy. As a whole, I present a systematic study of the relationship between the Great War, myth, and the three Ransom novels, one which reveals how Lewis manipulates his personal traumatic experiences to fashion a romantic Christian understanding of evil and violence in the modern world

The Myth And The Image Of Venice In The Novel By Ian Mcewan, “Comfort Of The Strangers”

А., Kalistratova, M. A. January 2016 (has links)
The dissertation is devoted to the study of myth and image of Venice in the novel by Ian McEwan, “Comfort of the Strangers.” The paper provides a classification of cities in the realm of semiotic studies and “locates” Venice in the existing classifications. Additionally, the work traces the evolution of the image of Venice in British literature. The specificity of the original image depicted in the novel by Ian McEwan is analyzed by comparing Venice in “Comfort of the Strangers” to one of the first literary texts of Venice – the comedy “The Merchant of Venice” and the tragedy “Othello” by William Shakespeare. The given study of the image opens up prospects for its further consideration as part of contemporary literary tradition in general, and British literature in particular, as well as to further exploration of Ian McEwan’s oeuvre.
