No. of bitstreams: 1 arquivototal.pdf: 993697 bytes, checksum: 0e8f56d463bbc5063fcebebeafa85c17 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2014-08-20 / This research sought to understand the relationship between the academic higher education of students who obtained the Bachelor of Music degree at the Universidade Federal da Paraiba (UFPB) and their insertion and professional performance in the labor market in the city of Joao Pessoa, through their own perception. Thus, we have develop a qualitative research based on interviews, with ten out of the 21 students who fitted the selection criteria – i.e. instrumentalists who obtained the title of Bachelor of Music between the years of 2010 and 2011, and worked professionally in the city of Joao Pessoa. As an instrument for data collection, semi-structured interviews were conducted in order to recognize the alumni‟s own experience through out the undergraduate course, as well as in the labor market, to identify recurrent social representations in their discourses, and to understand how the University proposed curriculum of the course contributed to labor opportunities in the professional job market. The critical analysis of the reports was done from the perspective of the Social Representations Theory and studies from the Music Education area that showed some relation with the chosen theme and the data collected. In this sense, we discussed how the relation between the students and the music was established and how the social representation of the artist‟s roll can be recognized through the family‟s support (or their lack of support) to the option of being a professional musician. From the data obtained and the bibliographic and documental analysis, we could find the influence of the Conservatory Teaching Model in the course‟s curriculum, although it had been adapted. Besides, we make some considerations about the student‟s perceptions and expectations on their education, reflecting about possible innovations and adaptations for the curriculum. The dichotomy between being a musician against being a professor is also emphasized, as teaching appeared on the reports as a professional option for the bachelors as, in fact, these two possibilities appear as complementary activities. Thus, we conclude that the course curriculum as propose by the University is not properly articulated to the job market reality, notably in relation to the labor market in city of Joao Pessoa.

Affeldt, Fabrício Sobrosa January 2011 (has links)
This Doctoral Thesis is in Business teaching context, with the challenge of relating the concepts of learning, teaching, Business Administration, Information Technology, constructivism and learning environments. It was defined as objective to realize an original study, building a new purpose for teaching and learning, based on constructivism assumptions, through the development of a Constructivist Business Teaching Model. The theme chosen as a start point was the need of understanding how students construct their knowledge according to the assumptions of Genetic Epistemology theory (PIAGET, 1978). Knowledge creation occurs through the action of these individuals over the object that is being learned. New knowledge is constructed based on structures that have already been constructed, being the knowledge withdrawn reflected action over observable objects they interact with. The individual action, interacting with the object being studied, gives him the opportunity of making sense about the subjects being learned. In Education, there is a variety if models that apply constructivism. Among them, there are: “instructional design”; “situated cognition”; “anchored instruction”; “experiential learning”; and “problem based learning”. Therefore, there are some environments that use the constructivism assumptions: “complex teaching learning environments”; “new learning environments”; and “learning management systems”. The current teaching models, in Business area, are restricted regarding new learning requirements by professionals, like student autonomy, his capability of decision making and socialization. The methodology used in the Thesis was the “action research”, constituted by these phases: exploration; principal; action; and model evaluation. The purpose of this Thesis was to present a Constructivist Business Teaching Model, composed by a teaching methodology and a learning environment, both of them created with basis on Genetic Epistemology assumptions. The model was composed by “Learning Contexts” and “Learning Situations” in which students solve real business problems, having to use their previous conceptions, discuss in groups, make decisions and elaborate reports to solve the situations. The results of this research indicate that the proposed model is in accordance with the following needs: elaboration of problem solving activities; develop the pedagogical material based on the contexts; support the knowledge construction of students; to present conditions for contextualized activities, applicable to reality; having these activities solved in groups; the tasks has to be solved through problems that reflect concrete situations, found in real world. The technology, the pedagogical materials and the physical environment enable the knowledge construction process, having being planned with other elements.

An Undergraduate Theatre History Course Design Utilizing Problem-Based Learning

Blackwell, Mary Alice 01 January 2005 (has links)
This thesis was written to provide an alternative teaching model for an undergraduate theatre history class. The course design, utilizing the Problem-Based Learning educational model, aims to create a student-centered, experiential theatre history class. The first section explores the history and evolution of the theatre discipline in academia. These chapters examine the expansion and transformation of the theatre curriculum within the discipline and higher education. The second part examines the history and the methodologies of Problem-Based Learning. Based on the philosophy of educator John Dewey, PBL is considered to be a non-traditional method of teaching and learning that encourages the development of self-directed learning and the acquisition of knowledge through experiential education. The final section describes the actual course design. Included in this section are the educational objectives of the class, examples of problems, assessment methods, and an examination of potential challenges in the design.

Basic knowledge and Basic Ability: A Model in Mathematics Teaching in China

Cheng, Chun Chor Litwin 12 April 2012 (has links)
This paper aims to present a model of teaching and learning mathematics in China. The model is “Two Basic”, basic knowledge and basic ability. Also, the paper will analyze some of the background of the model and why it is efficient in mathematics education. The model is described by a framework of “slab” and based on a model of learning cycle, allow students to work with mathematical thinking. Though the model looks of demonstration and practice looks very traditional, the explanation behind allows us to understand why Chinese students achieved well in many international studies in mathematics. The innovation of the model is the teacher intervention during the learning process. Such interventions include repeated practice, and working on group of selected related questions so that abstraction of the learning process is possible and student can link up mathematical expression and process. Examples used in class are included and the model can be applied in teaching advanced mathematics, which is usually not the case in some many other existing theories or framework.

Le Bot, Gaëlle January 2014 (has links)
// Abstract : Value orientations (VO) represent teachers’ educational beliefs. They are implemented through curricular decisions made by physical education (PE) teachers. In PE research literature, five VO have been identified: mastery of the discipline, learning process, self-actualization, social responsibility and ecological integration. We know little about how teachers’ VO influence their teaching process. Although teachers’ VO can be described, it’s still a challenge to explain how they play out in their daily decision-making and practices. In order to understand the influence of teachers’ VO in the teaching process, we designed a teaching model. This model integrates those perspectives on VO and teaching practices. It focuses on teaching practices in order to understand underneath teachers’ VO and how these VO affect teaching practices in return. The goal of this research is to underlined features of teaching practices influenced by teachers’ VO through a deep description of teaching model. We used a qualitative research design with inductive approach. This research was conducted with two experienced female high school PE teachers: Coline and Sandrine. Data were collected with the help of a questionnaire, repeated interviews and deferred video observations. Informed consent was obtained prior to data collection. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics (questionnaire and video) and thematic content analysis (interviews). The analysis revealed that Coline’s mastery of the discipline and Sandrine’s selfactualization value orientations influence their teaching practices in pre-intervention, intervention and post-intervention phases. We showed they used their own value orientation to select and understand their educational environment and also to define their teaching process. These results contribute to develop knowledge about the influence of value orientations in professional practices in PE teaching and PE teachers development.

[en] MODEL OF TEACHING METHODS FOR PRODUCT DESIGN / [pt] MODELO DE ENSINO DE MÉTODOS DE DESIGN DE PRODUTOS

ANA VERONICA PAZ Y MINO PAZMINO WEBER 27 May 2019 (has links)
[en] This study presents a teaching model for product design methods. It was developed in order to assist the teacher in subjects such as Project Methodology and Product Design. The research aims to attend the necessity, during the product design process, in dealing with all kind of information to be considered not only during the abstract project phase, but also at the moment of the project achievement. During the study the author affirms that the teacher should be a facilitator in the learning process of the future designer, while showing thorough knowledge of the subject to be taught, in a way to emphasize its fundamental aspects and enlighten its practical applications. The theoretical contribution of this study shows that the scientific activity of design, which investigates methods and determines the logic and sequential processes, has demonstrated to be suitable to transform design into a reflective practice. Beyond abilities and competence, a designer should possess creative capacities in order to propose innovative solutions, by means of mastery of the process designing techniques, as well as mastery of the different development steps of a project, namely: object definition, data collection and data analysis techniques, generation and evaluation of alternatives, solution configuration and communication of the results. These two abilities and competences are fundamental, and are required of a graduate student. Therefore, education in design should possess quality and the knowledge regarding project design methods should be learned by the future designer so he or she will be able to face his profession with confidence. This method neither guarantees the solution nor the project’s effectiveness and its achievement since it is related to the approximation of knowledge, being only a guarantee of the attainment of the project s aim. Thus, this study aims to propose a Teaching Model for Product Design Methods (TMM), based on the theory of meaningful learning. The method proposes that the teacher should use differentiated strategies to achieve meaningful learning, based on a guide, which relies on pedagogic knowledge by means of the methodologies of higher education. This study proposes learning strategies, evaluation strategies and 40 product design methods as tools capable of providing a more effective learning process. At last, this work presents the application of the method to the subject Project Methodology during a semester at the Univille University and from the analysis of the results, the effectiveness of the model is found, thus recommending its use by other teachers of the subjects Project Methodology and Project Design of industrial design courses.

Transformações químicas: visões e práticas de professores de ciências / Chemical Transformations: views and practices of science teachers

Ayres-Pereira, Terezinha Iolanda 04 July 2013 (has links)
This recent research was be realized with the objective to know the vision and practices about the concept of chemical\'s transformations make by teachers that teach science to students of the ninth level of the high school. This research was being developed around three axes: the concept of chemical\'s transformations revealed by the teachers; you visions about teaching of this concept and the teaching model showed. The hypothesis that guided this research is that the majority of science\'s teachers have one incomplete vision of the concept of chemical\'s transformations, limited just a same conceptual aspects and with one practice based in the traditional model. This research, with the principles of qualitative methodology, was realized in two steps, with teachers that work teaching science while participating of activities of continuing teacher training proposed by the researcher: the first with 9 teachers of the city J and the second, with 14 teachers of the city G. To identify the teaching model, was used one instrument described in the literature; while visions and practices were identify by means of questions prepared for this purpose. Based on the ideas expressed by the teachers were construed categories of analysis in relation to each research\'s axes. The didactic model was categorized in relation to hybridity and the degree of coherence; the categories for analysis of the concept of chemical\'s transformations emerged from the aspects macroscopic, submicroscopic and representational whereas for the practical\'s analysis was used the teaching model, the conceptual aspects and conceptual breadth. We are identified into this answers of the participating teachers, hybrid and incoherent in personal didactics models, many gaps and alternatives concepts about the concept of chemical\'s transformations and one traditional practice of teach, manifested by both the sequence and by addressing the content. According to the results of this research, those teachers that showed highest conceptual level show are more susceptible to the evolution of the teaching model, of a model belonging to the traditional paradigm until model belonging to the constructivist paradigm. These results suggest the necessity of more investments in activities of continuing teacher training prepared for teachers to participate actively in the groups in which they can reflect on their concepts and practices.

The teaching model is a descriptive object that shows the dimensions of a teachable genre. Its construction is only one step of a larger work on the teaching of genres and aims at elaborating didactic sequences , arranged according to the relationship between gender taken , his teachable characteristics and capabilities of proposed language ( ability to action, discursive , linguistic- discursive) expected to learners to develop . To achieve our goal, we seek to answer two questions : a) What are the defining characteristics of the genre adapted tragedy that can contribute to the construction of the teaching model? b) What language skills that can be developed with the teaching of reading this genre? This study initially presents the theoretical assumptions Interactionism sociodiscursivo ( Bronckart , 1999/2008 ), the assumptions of the same order that address the educational issues of teaching genres ( DOLZ , 1995; SCHNEUWLY , 1998; DOLZ & SCHNEUWLY , 2004) and studies in the field of literature and the dramatic text, the Theatre and the Greek Tragedies. (PASCOLATI, 2009; AGUIAR, 2009; ALMEIDA AND VIEIRA, 2007; KLEINMAN, 2008; ZANOTTO , 2005; 2008 among others ) . The corpus consists of tragedy adapted from Prometheus Bound . The analysis procedures focus on the conditions of production of these texts and their architecture involving the organization, the mechanisms of textualization and enunciative mechanisms. With the test results, we confirmed the importance of the production conditions for the constitution of the texts belonging to the tragedy genre, identify the defining characteristics of this genre and its contribution to development of the teaching model and suggest some activities for the development of a didactic sequence / O objetivo desta pesquisa é identificar as características definidoras do gênero tragédia adaptada com a finalidade de contribuir para a construção do modelo didático desse gênero, a partir do qual propomos atividades que podem possibilitar o desenvolvimento de capacidades de linguagem para leitura de textos pertencentes a esse gênero.
