The antecedents and consequences of user-generated content participation of online brand community

Unknown Date (has links)
With the coming of the Internet age, people begin to change the way they communicate. People around the world can share their opinions on the Internet platform. Brand fanatics gather together and establish brand communities, and create different kinds of user-generated content to express their affections on the particular brand. In Taiwan, the assessiblity rate of Internet is occupied the leading position in the world. Moreover, brand community members interact with other members via publishing and consuming user-generated content. Thus, the purpose of the research is to find out the factors that influence brand community participation motivation, creating and consuming user-generated content, and the relation between user-generated content participation intention and brand identification and community identification. The Research is based on the conceptual framework of Functional Motivation proposed by Clary, Snyder, Ridge, Copeland, Stukas, Haugen, and Miene (1998) to investigate the relation between motivation and attitude toward user-generated content. With the Expectation – Value Theory proposed by Eccles and Wigfield (1995) to find out the influence of perceived value on attitude. Finally, the research will follow Bagozzi and Dholakia (2005) conceptual framework to discuss difference between the brand identification and community identification from the user-generated content participation intention. The research induces the following findings: 1. Community Oriented Participation Motivations will positively influence the brand community members’ user-generated contetent creation and consumpation attitude. Brand Oriented Participation Motivation will have no influence on the user-generated contetent creation and consumpation attitude. 2. The brand community members will base on the perceived value of creating and consuming user-generated content to engage user-generated content activity. 3. The attitude toward creating user-generated content will positively influence on the user-generated content participation intention. There is no significant influence from the attitude toward consuming user-generated content. 4. The user-generated content participation intention will reinforce the brand identification and community identification.

Goerlich, Franz 15 May 2012 (has links) (PDF)

Research on copyright issues of internet video websites

Unknown Date (has links)

Thamm Sandelin, Daniel, Lindeborg, Robin January 2012 (has links)
In this Bachelor’s essay we discuss whether eWOM (electronic word-of-mouth) is perceived as advertisement or as normal information, which is not influenced by any company, on the platform Facebook. The information which we were interested in is the one spread by normal users, and user’s perception of it. To find our results we have conducted a study in which we have used the method interview, which gives qualitative results. Our chosen selection group contains young adults with ages spreading from 19 to 24, mainly because the group with ages between 16 to 24 is the group with most users according to “Statistiska centralbyrån” (2011). Our result points towards that users perceive a dichotomy between Facebook’s advertising and information spread by other users. The factor of interest (of the users) is according to our findings important to get a potential customer interested in a product. The other factor which makes opinions more trustworthy is the relationship one has with the source of the information. The closer the friend, the more trustworthy the information is pursuant to our results. What this could mean in the future of marketing is hard to predict but our results and earlier research could point towards new marketing strategies for companies.

Využití obsahu generovaného uživateli v české žurnalistice na příkladu deníku Metro / Use of user-generated content in Czech media: the case of Metro daily

Holzknecht, Martin January 2017 (has links)
This thesis is a case study examining a user-generated content delivered to a newsroom of Metro daily and its subsequent evaluation, selection and utilization in printed edition of the newspaper. Their bold attempt of participatory journalism - online gallery of readers' photographs - remains one of the few successful examples of this type of alternative journalism in Czech media even after five years since its foundation. The first chapter provides necessary field context related to the demonopolization and deprofessionalization of journalism as well as to the transformation of the communication framework and the roles of the producer (journalist) and the user (recipient) of media content, furthermore some types of alternative journalism are listed and distinctively characterized. Secondly, a phenomenon of user-generated content (UGC) is described in detail, focusing on its specifics in relation to journalism and on selected examples of the UGC occurring in Czech media. Lastly, I present a research of readers' photos from May, August, November 2016 and February 2017. The content analysis is applied twice - to define a nature of the photographs, their purpose, topic and information quality; to detect which of those gets actually used and printed. The work also focuses directly on the authors of...

Analyzing YouTube Content Demand Patternsand Cacheabilityin a Swedish Municipal Network

Wang, Hantao January 2013 (has links)
User Generated Content (UGC) has boosted a high popularity since the birth of a wide range of web services allowing the distribution of such user-produced media content, whose patterns vary from textual information, photo galleries to videos on site. The boom of Internet of Things and the newly released HTML5 accelerate the development of multimedia patterns as well as the technology of distributing it. YouTube, as one of the most popular video sharing site, enjoys the top most numbers of video views and video uploads per day in the world. With the rapid growing of multimedia patterns as well as huge bandwidth demand from subscribers, the sheer volume of the traffic is going to severely strain the network resources.</p><p>Therefore, analyzing media streaming traffic patterns and cacheability in live IP-access networks today leads a hot issue among network operators and content providers. One possible solution could be caching popular contents with a high replay rate in a proxy server on LAN border or in users' terminals.</p><p>Based on the solution, this thesis project focuses on developing a measurement framework to associate network cacheability with video category and video duration under a typical Swedish municipal network. Experiments of focused parameters are performed to investigate potential user behavior rules. From the analysis of the results, Music traffic gets a rather ideal network gain as well as a remarkable terminal gain, indicating that it is more efficient to be stored close to end user. Film&Animation traffic, however, is preferable to be cached in the network due to its high net gain. Besides, it is optimal to cache the video clips with a length between 3 and 5 minutes, especially the Music and Film&Animation traffic. In addition, more than half of the replays occur during 16.00-24.00 and peak hours appear on average from 18.00 to 22.00. Lastly, only around 16% of the videos are global popular and very few heavy users tend to be local popular video viewers, depicting local limits and independent user interests

Využití obsahu generovaného uživateli ve vybraných regionálních médiích v Ústeckém kraji / Use of user-generated content in selected regional media of the Ustecky region

Slavíková, Tereza January 2022 (has links)
With the development of digital media, cooperation and communication with the audience has become a common practice of media organizations at the national and regional levels. Consumers of media content are now much more involved in working with media content, which they not only change and edit, but also help create. Gradually, the boundaries between the author and the audience are blurred. This diploma thesis deals with user-generated content in selected regional media in the Ústí nad Labem region. Specifically, it examines the use of user-generated content in the regional newsroom of Czech Television in Ústí nad Labem, in Děčínský deník and Mladá fronta Dnes Severní Čechy. The theoretical part brings the field context of changes in journalism with the advent of digital media and their impact on traditional journalism. Furthermore, the phenomenon of user-generated content, its definitions and specific examples from foreign and domestic television and print media are introduced. Using semi-structured interviews and quantitative content analysis, it describes and offers a detailed description of the work of selected regional media with user-generated content. The aim of the diploma thesis is to describe the state, method of processing and content of UGC in three selected regional media in the Ústí...
