Avaliação da estratégia Saúde da Família: percepção do usuário / Evaluation of the Family Health strategy

No. of bitstreams: 0 Previous issue date: 2010-04-28 / Trata-se de um estudo quantitativo-descritivo que objetivou avaliar a percepção dos usuários cadastrados nas equipes da Estratégia Saúde da Família da zona urbana de Montes Claros, Minas Gerais, relacionados às dimensões da satisfação dos usuários quanto à tangibilidade, confiança,responsabilidade, segurança e empatia; bem como descrever o perfil da população entrevistada. A fundamentação teórico-metodológica apoiou-se em referenciais de autores que se aprofundaram no assunto. O método SERVQUAL foi utilizado. A amostra foi obtida por um processo probabilístico, por meio da amostragem aleatória simples, utilizando-se o Software Minitab for Windows. Os Softwares Microsoft Excel 2002 for Windows XP e o SPSS 15.0 subsidiaram a análise dos dados, servindo à construção de tabelas e gráficos, além deste último proporcionar a realização do teste do qui-quadrado x2. Para a coleta de dados, empregou-se um questionário com questões fechadas para a construção do perfil da população, e com afirmativas, cujas opções de respostas foram graduadas, de acordo com a Escala de Likert, de “discordo integralmente” a “concordo integralmente”. Os dados foram coletados nos meses de outubro e novembro de 2008. A análise foi realizada por meio da estatística descritiva e associações estatisticamente significantes (p<0,05) entre algumas variáveis. Os dados indicaram que a maioria dos entrevistados são do sexo feminino (80,6%), faixa etária de 18 a 30 anos (38,2%), possuíam Ensino Médio completo (32,3%), renda familiar de 1 a 3 salários mínimos (76,8%), moram nos bairros há mais de 10 anos (52,6%). Na Dimensão Empatia, verificou-se que apesar da maioria dos usuários afirmarem que os profissionais da ESF oferecem Atendimento Individual, alguns demonstraram que quanto ao Entendimento das Necessidades Específicas não estão satisfeitos. Foi possível identificar também que os idosos possuem uma percepção mais positiva do serviço da ESF em todos os quesitos. Espera-se que este estudo possa proporcionar reflexões aos profissionais da ESF frente aos serviços oferecidos e subsidiar ações de adequação dos serviços prestados a essa população, podendo melhorar o planejamento do trabalho das equipes. / TEDE / BV UNIFESP: Teses e dissertações

O estudo tem por tema o cuidar paliativo na atenção ambulatorial, em particular as percepções sobre esse cuidado sob o ponto de vista dos usuários do Ambulatório de Cuidados Paliativos em Oncologia, do Hospital do Câncer IV, do Instituto Nacional de Câncer - INCA/MS. O palco do nosso estudo sofreu transformações em sua estrutura física e na forma do atendimento dispensado a partir de março de 2009. Na atualidade, e diferentemente do que é mais comum na maioria dos ambulatórios das demais unidades INCA, os pacientes, quando chamados para consulta, entram para uma sala de atendimento e aguardam os profissionais, ao invés de percorrem as salas de consulta de cada especialidade. Buscamos trazer e compreender a percepção dos sujeitos através de suas falas, bem como as dificuldades por eles vivenciadas na assistência do cuidado, e sua relação com a Integralidade. Esta última foi entendida como tecnologia que permeia as ações, favorecendo e aprimorando o cuidado em saúde. Ao relacionar os pilares da integralidade isto é, o acesso, o acolhimento, o vínculo, a autonomização e a responsabilização procuramos entender os parâmetros desse conceito e sua aplicabilidade no sistema do INCA. Demarcamos como caminhos teóricos desta pesquisa, as questões voltadas à Integralidade e às tecnologias como orientadoras dos processos de trabalho em serviço de saúde. O elemento decisivo e norteador para seguir este caminho foi o conceito de tecnologias leves formulado por Merhy, que guarda em suas definições uma ponte entre as mesmas e a integralidade conceitos estes básicos para a investigação proposta. Optamos pela metodologia qualitativa, com o uso de entrevistas semi-estruturadas que possibilitariam um maior aprofundamento na compreensão das percepções dos sujeitos sobre o atendimento à saúde naquela Unidade Hospitalar. Os relatos dos pacientes e cuidadores entrevistados revelam, sem nenhuma exceção, que eles apreciam bem mais este modo de atendimento do que aquele experimentado em outras unidades hospitalares. Os usuários expressaram, como aspectos positivos, a redução no tempo de espera e a qualidade da atenção dispensada, uma vez que suas necessidades (físicas, psicológicas e emocionais) são mais emergenciais, dada a fragilidade do seu estado bio-psico-socio-espiritual. Em suma, foi possível observar que os principais pilares da Integralidade estão expressos nas percepções dos usuários, mesmo que eles não saibam que o fazem. Ao ressaltar as percepções sobre as práticas que os usuários identificaram como positivas e negativas no sistema de atendimento do ambulatório do HC IV, apontamos para possibilidades de melhoria da qualidade assistencial com base na Integralidade / The present study is about ambulatory attention in palliative care, particularly users perceptions over this care given in the Oncologic Ambulatory for Palliative Care of the Brazilian National Cancer Institute-RJ. When relating some of its pillars as, access, boundary, linkage, self-government and responsiveness, we can better understand the limits of this concepts and its applicability in the INCA system. We delimitate as theoretic path of this study, integrality issues and technologies to orient the work process in health services. The decisive element was the concept of soft technologies formulated by Merhy; within its definition there is a bridge to integrality basic concepts to the investigation proposed. This ambulatory underwent a transformation on its physical structure and on the assistance model offered to its users. The difference between this and the conventional ambulatory model of assistance that takes place on the other INCA ambulatory hospitals, for this one from HC IV, rely on the fact that this one is specific for patients undergoing oncological palliative care, in which the patients has walking difficulties. Because of those, a different model was build. In this new mode, patients are called to a room and wait for the assistance, the professionals alternates themselves between this and the other rooms, where there are other patients. This attitude prevents patients from walking from room to room to be assisted. As a reminder, this new assistance manner began on march 2009, with one year experience. The statement of the interviewed patients and their caretakers revealed, with not even one exception, that they prefer this new way of integrative care instead of the traditional experienced in other INCA hospital units. Patients appreciate the quietness of this process and the certainty of the scheduled appointment. Its impossible to deny that in this manner of assistance, not only the patients but also their caretakers have more privacy. One of its improvements for patients is the end of the walking from room to room to get assisted by all professionals. This new physical structure prevents undesirable walking and stress for patients under oncologic palliative care. And its also clear that users express, as positive aspect, the reduction of time waiting for the appointment in the ambulatory. Taking into consideration the particularity of these users revealed, was the quality of the assistance they acquire: faster, human and multidisciplinary, since their necessities are more urgent because of their bio-psycho-social-spiritual fragility state. Finally, was possible to observe that the main Integrality pillars are expressed in their perceptions, although they dont state this concepts specifically. About responsiveness, we found little evidence, as the users dont have their rights notion and there for they dont criticize the system. Semantic protection and personalization of video content PIAF : MPEG compliant adaptation framework preserving the user perceived quality / Protection sémantique et personnalisation du contenu de la vidéo PIAF : Un framework d'adaptation conforme à MPEG préservant la qualité perçue de l'utilisateur

Dans cette thèse, nous proposons un framework d’adaptation appelé "Personalized vIdeo Adaptation Framework" (PIAF) conçu à partir des standards MPEG. PIAF intègre les contraintes sémantiques et vise à maximiser la qualité perçue par l’utilisateur lors de la visualisation de la vidéo tout en respectant les droits de propriété intellectuelle. Les contributions de cette thèse peuvent être résumées comme suit. Dans un premier temps, nous avons utilisé et étendu les standards MPEG-7 et MPEG-21 afin de représenter les préférences des utilisateurs. Nous avons ensuite proposé un modèle formel du processus d’adaptation sémantique d’une vidéo et défini une fonction d’utilité régissant le mécanisme de prise de décision du MPDA. Cette fonction tient compte de différentes dimensions de qualité (qualité perceptuelle, sémantique, temps d’exécution nécessaire) afin d’évaluer quantitativement la qualité d’un plan d’adaptation. Le processus d’adaptation que nous proposons intègre les droits de propriété intellectuelle dans le processus de décision. Dans certains cas, le plan d’adaptation qui produirait la vidéo de meilleure qualité adaptée aux préférences de l’utilisateur peut être inapplicable car il ne respecte pas les contraintes du propriétaire. Trouver le meilleur plan d’adaptation devient alors un problème NP-complet. Nous avons proposé une solution pratique à ce problème sous la forme d’une heuristique capable de sélectionner un plan très proche de l’optimum en un temps de calcul raisonnable. Afin d’implémenter ce framework, nous avons également développé un outil d’annotation sémantique de contenu vidéo (SVCAT) qui produit des annotations sémantiques structurelles et de haut niveau selon un modèle objet basé sur du contenu vidéo. Nous avons validé nos travaux avec des évaluations qualitatives et quantitatives qui nous ont permis d’étudier la performance et l'efficacité du MPDA. Les résultats obtenus démontrent que la fonction d’utilité proposée présente une forte corrélation avec les évaluations subjectives fournies par des utilisateurs concernant la qualité d’une vidéo adaptée, et constitue donc une base tout à fait pertinente pour le MPDA. / Universal Multimedia Experience (UME) is the notion that a user should receive informative adapted content anytime and anywhere. Personalization of videos, which adapts their content according to user preferences, is a vital aspect of achieving the UME vision. User preferences can be translated into several types of constraints that must be considered by the adaptation process, including semantic constraints directly related to the content of the video. The overall goal of this adaptation process is to provide users with adapted content that maximizes their Quality of Experience (QoE). This QoE depends at the same time on the level of the user's satisfaction in perceiving the adapted content, the amount of knowledge assimilated by them, and the adaptation execution time. In video adaptation frameworks, the Adaptation Decision Taking Engine (ADTE), is responsible for achieving this goal. The task of the ADTE is challenging as many adaptation operations can satisfy the same semantic constraint, and thus arising in several feasible adaptation plans. Indeed, for each entity to be adapted, the ADTE must decide on the adequate adaptation operator that satisfies the user's preferences while maximizing his/her quality of experience. The first challenge to achieve in this is to objectively measure the quality of the adapted video, while considering the multiple aspects of the QoE. The second challenge is to assess beforehand this quality in order to choose the most appropriate adaptation plan among all possible ones. The third challenge is to resolve conflicting or overlapping semantic constraints, in particular conflicts arising from constraints expressed by owner's intellectual property rights (IPR) about the modification of the content. In this thesis, we tackled the aforementioned challenges by proposing a Utility Function (UF), which integrates semantic concerns with user's perceptual considerations. This UF models the relationships among adaptation operations, user preferences, and the quality of the video content. We integrated this UF into an ADTE. This ADTE performs a multi-level piecewise reasoning to choose the adaptation plan that maximizes the user-perceived quality. Furthermore, we included IPR in the adaptation process. Thereby, we modeled content owner constraints, and proposed a heuristic to resolve conflicting user and owner constraints. More, we developed SVCAT, which produces structural and high-level semantic annotation according to an original object-based video content model. We modeled as well the user's preferences proposing extensions to MPEG-7 and MPEG-21. All the developed contributions were carried out as part of a coherent framework called PIAF. We validated this research with qualitative and quantitative evaluations, which assess the performance and the efficiency of the proposed adaptation decision-taking engine within PIAF.

Perceptions of final-year students and subject librarians on the adequacy of library user education programmes at the University of Limpopo

Thesis (M.A. (Information Studies)) -- University of Limpopo, 2020 / The purpose of the study was to investigate the perceptions of final-year students and subject librarians towards the adequacy of the structure and content of library user education programmes at the University of Limpopo (UL) library. Both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies were followed and a descriptive and phenomenological research designs respectively were also adopted for the study. The population for the study consisted of 260 final year students and eight (8) subject librarians, who were selected through systematic random sampling (students) and purposive sampling methods (subject librarians). Data were collected from students and subject librarians using questionnaires and semi-structured interviews. An analysis of content for UL library website was also conducted to triangulate the results of the study. Quantitative and qualitative were analysed using excel spreadsheet and thematic analysis respectively. The final year students at the UL showed some positive perceptions and attitudes towards the library in general and to the adequacy of the content and structure of its user education programmes. They are of the opinion that library staff should commit to good customer care principles and regular delivery of user education programmes, and that user education programmes at the UL library should be a credit-bearing module/course for all first-level students in all four faculties. On the structure and content, the findings of the study revealed that the UL library provides user education programmes such as library orientation, bibliographic instruction, information literacy, on-on-one training, online interactive course, library guides and brochures with different content and for different library users. Website content analysis found subject LibGuides were used as platforms for advertising Bibliographic Instruction programmes. However, impediments experienced by subject librarians towards a comprehensive delivering of user education programmes at the UL library include insufficient time allocated to user education programmes, lack of venues to conduct user education sessions, inaccessibility of social media tools, LibGuides not going live, insubstantial partnerships between stakeholders (academics and students) and the v library staff, and low attendance of user education programmes by undergraduate students. The research recommends that there should be a credit-bearing and compulsory information literacy programme offered as part of the curriculum at first levels of study at the UL. Furthermore, library staff need to have a continuous engagement with both academic staff and students, and notify them about important events within the library. The library website should also be upload recorded online user education sessions which can be accessed by library users any time. The library management should also engage ICT to open the social media platforms as that is where most students prefer to interact. This can also be used to deliver user education programmes.

Dark Patterns in the Travel Industry : A study on users’ perception of dark patterns on airline companies’ websites

This thesis investigates how airline companies use dark patterns on their websites and how users perceive them. Dark patterns are deceiving design strategies that take advantage of users by integrating misleading user interface features to trick users into doing things they did not mean to. Previous taxonomies of dark patterns are introduced, together with earlier research on dark patterns and user experience, to understand their research approach. A qualitative approach is used, including a case study that starts with a content analysis of airline websites and then semi-structured interviews with users. The results show that six types of dark patterns can be found on airline websites. These are misdirection, nagging, urgency, interface interference, price comparison prevention and forced action. It was found in line with previous research that dark patterns benefit the company and manipulate the users into choices that are not in their best interest. Users’ perceptions of the patterns varied due to different experiences and backgrounds. Some participants were not bothered by some of the dark patterns since they were used to them from other websites, showing a sort of dark pattern-blindness. Some users accepted the dark patterns due to the airline being low-budget. However, some were against the use and did not trust the company. / Denna uppsats syftar till att undersöka hur flygbolag använder dark patterns på sina hemsidor, och hur användare uppfattar dessa dark patterns. Dark patterns är vilseledande designstrategier som drar nytta av användarna genom att integrera vilseledande funktioner i användargränssnittet för att lura användare att göra saker de inte menade. Tidigare taxonomier av dark patterns presenteras, tillsammans med liknande tidigare forskning om dark patterns och användarupplevelse, för att få en förståelse för deras metod. En kvalitativ metod används genom en fallstudie som involverar en innehållsanalys av flygbolagens hemsidor och sedan semistrukturerade intervjuer med användare. Resultaten visar att sex typer av dark patterns kan hittas på flygbolags hemsidor. Dessa är misdirection, nagging, urgency, interface interference, price comparison prevention och forced action. I linje med tidigare forskning visar resultatet att dark patterns gynnar företaget och manipulerar användare till val som inte gynnar deras intresse. Användarnas uppfattningar om dark patterns varierade beroende på olika erfarenheter och bakgrunder. En del var inte besvärade av vissa av dem eftersom de var vana med dem från andra webbsidor, vilket visade en slags dark pattern-blindness. Vissa användare accepterade användningen av dark patterns eftersom flygbolaget var lågbudget. Däremot var vissa användare emot användandet och litade inte på företaget.

The dissertation discusses the impact of change management during the implementation of an IT system. The theoretical part of the dissertation is aimed at gaining information about human performance, and the implications during the implementation of the system, and also post-implementation. Literature suggests that the human factor is the key to the successful implementation of system projects. The study, which is qualitative in nature, makes use of face-to-face interviews for the collection of evidence, as well as questionnaires as add-on tools to support the underlying constructs and research questions posed within the study. The use of data obtained from the research interviews, as well as survey data, has provided the research study with the necessary validity, reliabilityand trustworthy data to support the research results, findings – and to be able to make some recommendations. The reason for the failure of system implementation projects is often due to poor implementation during the project. It is important to place the importance of people on a par with technology and processes. A holistic approach would be the most likely to result in the acceptance – and the efficient and effective use of the implemented system. Communication, training and management participation are common means of addressingany fears of change, and to build trust. This information should be utilised by project teams during implementation projects, as it should help to provide the necessary framework to ensure the success of the change initiatives. / Human Resource Management / M. A comparison of the effects of mobile device display size and orientation, and text segmentation on learning, cognitive load, and user perception in a higher education chemistry course

This study aimed to understand the relationship between mobile device screen display size (laptops and smartphones) and text segmentation (continuous text, medium text segments, and small text segments) on learning outcomes, cognitive load, and user perception. This quantitative study occurred during the spring semester of 2015. Seven hundred and seventy-one chemistry students from a higher education university completed one of nine treatments in this 3x3 research design. Data collection took place over four class periods. The study revealed that learning outcomes were not affected by the mobile screen display size or orientation, nor was working memory. However, user perception was affected by the screen display size of the device, and results indicated that participants in the sample felt laptop screens were more acceptable for accessing the digital chemistry text than smartphone screens by a small margin. The study also found that neither learning outcomes, nor working memory was affected by the text segmentation viewed. Though user perception was generally not affected by text segmentation, the study found that for perceived ease of use, participants felt medium text segments were easier to learn from than either continuous or small test segments by a small margin. No interaction affects were found between mobile devices and text segmentation. These findings challenge the findings of some earlier studies that laptops may be better for learning than smartphones because of screen size, landscape orientation is better for learning than portrait orientation in small screen mobile devices, and meaningful text segments may be better for learning than non-meaningful, non-segmented, or overly segmented text. The results of this study suggest that customizing the design to the smartphone screen (as opposed to a one-size-fits-all approach) improves learning from smartphones, making them equal to learning from laptops in terms of learning outcomes and cognitive load, and in some cases, user perspective. / text

Physiological Reactions To Uncanny Stimuli: Substantiation Of Self-assessment And Individual Perception

There is abundant anecdotal evidence substantiating Mori’s initial observation of the "uncanny valley", a point at which human response to non-human entities drops sharply with respect to comfort (Mori, 1970), and the construct itself has a long-standing history in both Robotics and Psychology. Currently, many fields such as design, training, entertainment, and education make use of heuristic approaches to accommodate the anticipated needs of the user/consumer/audience in certain important aspects. This is due to the lack of empirical substantiation or, in some cases, the impossibility of rigorous quantification; one such area is with respect to the user’s experience of uncanniness, a feeling of "eeriness" or "wrongness" when interacting with artefacts or environments. Uncanniness, however, continues to be defined and measured in a largely subjective way, and often after the fact; an experience or product’s uncanny features are pointed out after the item has been markedly avoided or complained about by the general public. These studies are among the first seeking to determine a constellation of personality traits and physiological responses that incline the user to have a more frequent or profound "uncanny" reaction when presented with stimuli meeting the criteria for a level of "eeriness". In study 1, 395 adults were asked to categorize 200 images as uncanny, neutral, pleasant, or other. In Study 2, physiological and eye-tracking data was collected from twenty two adults as they viewed uncanny, neutral and pleasant images culled from study 1. This research identifies components of the uncanny valley related to subjective assessment, personality factors (using the HEXACO and Anthropomorphic Tendencies Scale), and biophysical measures, and found that traits unique to Emotionality on the HEXACO inventory, compounded with a form of anthropomorphism demonstrates a level of relationship to the subjective experience of uncanny stimuli. There is evidence that HEXACO type and forms of anthropomorphic perception mediates the biophysical iv expression and the subjective perception of the stimuli. In keeping with psychological hypotheses, stimuli to which the participants had greatest response centered on death, the threat of death, or mismatched/absent facial features.
