The hypothesis is that happened a conceptual and taxonomic restructuring from weak to rogue states since the securitization of underdevelopment of the weak states and of political instrumentalization of rogue states taxonomy. The analysis of hypothesis is based on postcolonial approaches as theoric-methodologic substratum. In analysis of weak states the aim is to contextualize the beginning of construction of this taxonomy, since of underdevelopment securitization process. In analysis of rogue states the aim is verified the process of construction of rogue taxonomy and how maintains this process itself. As final considerations, there is not a conceptual and taxonomic restructuring so unanimous. If the assumptions of Rational Modern State were accepted, some States may be considered weak, but not rogue, while another may be called rogue, but not weak. It was found, however, the political exploitation of state's taxonomies, according to the diagnoses made by outside actors of state to be cataloged, especially by the United States.

Ribeiro, Jairo Moran Carvalho 03 December 2013 (has links)
As innovations as knowledge show a main role in the organizational economic scenery nowadays. Furthermore uncertainties and turbulence may be associated with changes in these processes and sceneries, emitting signals and within the organizational context indicate the need of monitoring the competitive environment. These signals still so weak and once a time identified represent the external stimuli which associated to the knowhow can feed, and this way are considered like a background of the innovation. According Arboniés (2009), weak signal allow an individual creation from the association in different signals among theirselves and a tacit knowledge held by a group of individuals. This process called creative routines broadens the alternatives and can anticipate threats and opportunities, from the creative interpretation of weak signals and designing routines for processing. Thus, this study aimed to analyze the knowledge as a background of innovation and as a result of external monitoring. The focus was on the role of weak signals in their processing through creative routines and their influence on innovation performance. Then the goal was to analyse the practice of creative routines for a processing of weak signs and performance in innovation. The method used was the descriptive and exploratory with a case study from Alpha Group Companies. The outcomes indicate that the enterprises that have creative routines also show a superior performance in innovation.

In this work we study the concept of weak solution of the incompressible ideal flow equations. More precisely, we study examples that highlight the shortcomings of the definition of weak solution for the Euler equations. An example is Shnirelman's flow, which is a weak solution of the Euler equations, on the bidimensional torus, compactly supported in time. This implies that weak solutions of the Euler equations are not unique. In this work we construct a numerical approximation of Shnirelman's flow, in order to visualize the structure of the flow. In joint work with Shnirelman, we modified the original construction in order to obtain a flow with more interesting physical structure whereby the visualization of the inverse energy cascade is clearer. Recently, De Lellis and Székelyhidi also constructed weak solutions of the Euler equations, in the whole space, with compact support in time and space. The technique used by them is innovative and has proved to be very effective in the construction of several counter-examples. We used the technique developed by De Lellis and Székelyhidi in order to construct weak solutions of the 2D Euler equations, coupled with a passive tracer, which are compactly supported in time and space. Finally, in our work we also studied the Euler equations with helical symmetry; we proved global existence, in time, of weak solutions, in the absence of helical swirl, provided that the initial vorticity lies in Lp, with p > 4=3, and has compact support in the plane, periodic in the axial direction. This result represents an improvement with respect to the state of art, due to Ettinger and Titi, who established the well-posedness, for bounded helical domains, assuming that the initial vorticity is bounded / Doutorado / Matematica / Doutor em Matemática

Conjuntos de continuidade seqüencial fraca para polinômios em espaços de Banach / Sets of weak sequential continuity for polynomials in Banach spaces

Pedro Levit Kaufmann 03 December 2004 (has links)
Mathem., N.S., 13 (3) (2002), 287-299. / This work has the purpose of presenting a study on Banach spaces about sets in which determined homogeneous continuous polynomials are weakly sequentially continuous. Some properties of these sets are studied and illustrated with examples, most in the space $l_p$. We obtain a formula for the weak sequential continuity set of the product of two polynomials, and some consequences. Stronger results are obtained when we restrict our Banach spaces to spaces with unconditional FDD and/or separable. The results studied here were obtained by R. Aron and V. Partindo de uma releitura dos filósofos Nietzsche e Heidegger, o autor mostra como o ocidente é terra do declínio do ser. / Nihilism, in view of Gianni Vattimo’s weak thought, is a secularized expression of christianity. Based upon a reinterpretation of Nietzsche’s and Heidegger’s master works, Vattimo describes how the West became the land of the demise of being. After the long metaphysical journey, the death of God puts an end to the belief in absolute values and inaugurates postmodernity. Time of plurality and conducive to the flourishing of hermeneutics which finds its origin in the christian tradition. The age of interpretation is possible because, in its root, there is the inaugural experience of kenosis of Jesus. Emptying of the divine that, in the incarnation, accepts the limits of the secular in order to turn it into an ever relational love. Accordingly, caritas, the only commandment left by Christ, has become the inexhaustible claim and the formal criteria for any current experience of christianity. By showing the intimate relationship between Christianity and nihilism, Vattimo also advocates a secularized church no longer centered on the strength of their dogmas, but a witness to the dialogue and hospitality. Some questions arise from this proposal, namely: what would a nonreligious christianity be? Relativism or relative identity? End of the institution or the emergence of a weak church? Can one believe without transcendence?

Time performance comparison in determining the weak parts in wooden logs

Akhtar, Naeem, Alzghoul, Ahmad January 2009 (has links)
The steadily increasing demand of wood forces sawmills to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of their equipments. The weak parts and the twist in wooden logs have been documented as the most common and crucial defect in sawn lumber. In this thesis we are going to implement a program which is able to determine the weak parts in wooden logs. The implementation will be in two languages C++ and Matlab. Parts of the program are going to be implemented sometimes by C++ and sometimes by Matlab therefore different designs are going to be tested. The aim of this thesis is to check whether these designs will meet the real time bound of 10 m/s. The result shows that there is a huge difference in time performance for the different designs. Therefore, different discretization levels were used in order to meet the deadline of 10m/s. We found that in order to get better speed one should calculate the matrix for the function F and the Jacobian function J by using C++ not by Matlab. Also we found that when we called functions from one language to another an extra time is added.

Role os Strong and Weak Ties : Entrepreneur’s Social Network

Shaikh, Nida January 2017 (has links)
The role of social networking has widely been embraced in an entrepreneurial context due to its nature of providing easy access to information, support and other complementary resources needed for the creation and development of entrepreneurial venture (Omta et al., 2001; Johannisson,1990 cited in Song et al., 2017). The entrepreneurs’ network is affiliated with the study of social relations that can influence the creation and development of new business by shedding light on the functionality of social ties in the diffusion of resources that are vital for the establishment of firms (Greve, 1995). Therefore, studying the field of entrepreneurship in the context of social network can offer a fruitful perspective on entrepreneurship (Greve, 1995).Despite the vast and diverse research in the field of networking and entrepreneurship, there are still some gaps concerning what is actually going on in a network and the understanding about network operation, their nature and role in influencing business performance still limited to fairly broader and theoretical perspective (Jack, 2005). So, in line with these views, the purpose of this study is to explore and enhance the understanding of the networking in an entrepreneurial context by shedding light on the role of strong and weak social ties. The foundation of this study relies on Granovetter’s (1973, 1985) strong and weak tie hypothesis and Jack (2005) work, that by highlighting the characteristics, formation, and outcome of strong and weak social relationships contribute to building the concept of entrepreneur’s social network.A multiple case study of five entrepreneurs, operating their networks and businesses in Linköping, Sweden, has been conducted to achieve the purpose of this study. This research work uses a qualitative approach and is based on the semi-structured interviews, which allows a deeper insight into the studied area through analysis of multiple cases. The result of this study indicates that both the strong and weak social ties, in which an entrepreneur is bonded, are used to a varying level in terms of information flow. Strong relationships, that relies on frequent interaction, hold great importance in providing quality information as compared to weak relationships but simultaneously accountable for providing information that is useless and not up-to date. On, the other hand weak-ties contacts are dispersed in a social network and rarely interact with each other. But these weak connections are also important and play their role once get activated by entrepreneurs. Considering the information flow weaker relationships also occurred to be useful however the relatively small size of the town can mean that similar information is repeated by several connections. Since, the aspect of individual knowledge and experience help in the formation of new relationships but the result of this study highlights that, a personal motivation and drive towards networking also plays a crucial role in the formation of both strong and weak ties. The study findings can benefit the researchers and the entrepreneurs in developing their knowledge about networking and role of social ties in providing access to information and resources necessary for the creation and the development of venture. However, the strong connections hold a dominant position concerning the information and the resource flow but weak connections are also crucial and provide support in areas that strong connections lack. Thus, the entrepreneur that keeps the balance between both his/her strong and weak connections can efficiently reap the benefit of social networking.

Homogeneous spaces and Faddeev-Skyrme models

Koshkin, Sergiy January 1900 (has links)
Doctor of Philosophy / Department of Mathematics / David R. Auckly / We study geometric variational problems for a class of models in quantum field theory known as Faddeev-Skyrme models. Mathematically one considers minimizing an energy functional on homotopy classes of maps from closed 3-manifolds into homogeneous spaces of compact Lie groups. The energy minimizers known as Hopfions describe stable configurations of subatomic particles such as protons and their strong interactions. The Hopfions exhibit distinct localized knot-like structure and received a lot of attention lately in both mathematical and physical literature. High non-linearity of the energy functional presents both analytical and algebraic difficulties for studying it. In particular we introduce novel Sobolev spaces suitable for our variational problem and develop the notion of homotopy type for maps in such spaces that generalizes homotopy for smooth and continuous maps. As the spaces in question are neither linear nor even convex we take advantage of the algebraic structure on homogeneous spaces to represent maps by gauge potentials that form a linear space and reformulate the problem in terms of these potentials. However this representation of maps introduces some gauge ambiguity into the picture and we work out 'gauge calculus' for the principal bundles involved to apply the gauge-fixing techniques that eliminate the ambiguity. These bundles arise as pullbacks of the structure bundles H[arrow pointing right with hook on tail]G[arrow pointing right]G/H of homogeneous spaces and we study their topology and geometry that are of independent interest. Our main results include proving existence of Hopfions as finite energy Sobolev maps in each (generalized) homotopy class when the target space is a symmetric space. For more general spaces we obtain a weaker result on existence of minimizers only in each 2-homotopy class.
