YAI ¿ Apoio tecnologico para uma educação solidaria / YAI ¿ Technological support for a solidaristic education

Mantovani, Osmar 26 September 2005 (has links)
Orientador: Hans Kurt Edmund Liesenberg / Dissertação (mestrado) - Universidade Estadual de Campinas, Instituto de Computação / Made available in DSpace on 2018-08-05T04:21:29Z (GMT). O público alvo do sistema desenvolvido é a comunidade escolar. During the last decades the cultural industry succeeded in promoting and approving increasingly stricter national and international intellectual property protection laws to the detriment of society at large. Innovations are becoming more and more inhibited due to the fact that new knowledge is always built on previous knowledge with an access control getting increasingly tighter over time. The school as institution is, in particular, seriously affected by unbalanced intellectual property protection laws. The school is less and less capable of providing to its students an education it considers most proper due to financial restrictions and ever increasing costs of contents of educational interest. This dissertation presents a contribution to promote the sharing of ¿open¿ contents, i.e. contents published by their authors under licenses of use with less restrictions than the ones by default imposed by copyright laws. The target population of the developed system is the school community. As well as offering a directory for open contents, the system provides an alternative way of navigation in the content universe stored in the hierarchical directory by the way of ¿associative¿ indices defined by registered users / Mestrado / Informatica e Educação / Mestre em Ciência da Computação

Método de modelagem e geração de testes para o ambiente de ensino à distância TelEduc / Modelling and test generation method for the e-learning web environment TelEduc

Letizio, Caroline Castello, 1987- 24 August 2018 (has links)
Orientador: Eliane Martins / Dissertação (mestrado) - Universidade Estadual de Campinas, Instituto de Computação / Made available in DSpace on 2018-08-24T16:35:59Z (GMT). The major difficulty about this technique is to generate the model, since it is problematic to define what should be considered from the system and insert these characteristics into the model. This technique is also used in Web applications which presents the same challenges. Therefore, the present work proposes a method to assist in the modeling of Web applications. This sort of system has been increasingly used in recent years, where the system¿s complexity has considerably grown due to the dynamic and interactivity that this kind of application offers. The proposed method is based on related works in order to know what to model from the applications and how to create this model. The method contains the steps to generate tests cases from the created model, and how to execute them in the system. This work also suggests manual and automatic ways to execute the method. The proposal has been applied to test a real application: the e-learning Web environment TelEduc. The results obtained from the method¿s application by a test analyst and by the TelEduc team, are here analyzed to validate the method and to assist in the process development and tests execution by quality teams, especially those teams where there are no means of tests organization.

Carvalho, Carlos Alberto de 19 August 2018 (has links)
Orientador: Maria Cecília Calani Baranauskas / Dissertação (mestrado) - Universidade Estadual de Campinas, Instituto de Computação / Made available in DSpace on 2018-08-19T00:09:39Z (GMT). Estas tecnologias e recomendações foram testadas e verificadas com os usuários desse protótipo / Abstract: Geographic information is a consolidated reality for everyday Internet users, in the use of location maps of streets, satellite images for the purpose of entertainment and leisure and in professional and research environments, which show the territorial divisions, zoning and land use. The popularization of Internet access is increasing number and diversity of users who use land management systems on the web implemented as WebGIS applications. Traditionally, these applications are designed with features for experts in geographic information systems (GIS), but they should be used by experts in a particular domain, such as agro-energy, which are not necessarily experts in GIS. This work presents a proposed redesign of a WebGIS application to extend to this user from a specialist field increasing perceptions of geographic information available in their dynamic maps. To this end, we chose a set of technologies to access spatial data, interaction devices used in the user interface of geographic information systems, and a set of guidelines based on the techniques of cartography visual perception and theoretical semiotics employed in the evaluation and inspection of WebGIS user interfaces generating a set of recommendations. These recommendations were iteratively appended in a WebGIS prototype for decision making support in the infrastructure of sugar cane agro-energy. These technologies and recommendations have been tested and verified with the users of this prototype. The work results include: a proposal of an iterative redesign of WebGIS application that provided indications that the use by non-expert users was facilitated; the survey and verification of technologies to access spatial data and interaction devices; the survey and verification of a set of recommendations for the map representation and the inclusion of a component of accessibility for the WebGIS application / Mestrado / Interação Humano-Computador / Mestre em Ciência da Computação

A framework for secure human computer interaction.

Johnston, James 02 June 2008 (has links)
This research is concerned with the development of a framework for the analysis and design of interfaces found in a security environment. An example of such an interface is a firewall. The purpose of this research is to use the framework as a method to improve the usability of an interface, thus aiding the user to implement the correct security features. The purpose is also to use the framework to assist in the development of trust between a user and a computer system. In this research the framework comprises six criteria which are used to analyse interfaces found in the traditional software environment, Internet banking environment and e-commerce environment. In order to develop the framework an overview of the fields of information security and human computer interfaces (HCI) is given. The overview provides background information and also establishes the existing research which has been done in these fields. Due to its popularity, the Windows Internet Connection Firewall is analysed in this research. Based on the criteria a level of trust fostered between the user and interface is calculated for the firewall. It is then shown how this level of trust can be improved by modifying the interface. A proposed interface for the firewall is presented according to the criteria. Interfaces found in the online Internet environment are discussed. This is important in order to identify the similarities and differences between traditional software interfaces and web interfaces. Due to these differences the criteria are modified to be relevant in the analysis and design of security interfaces found on the Internet. Three South African online banking websites are analysed according to the modified framework. Each interface is broken down into a number of components which are then analysed individually. The results of the analysis are compared between the three banking sites to identify the elements which make up a successful interface in an online banking environment. Lastly, three interfaces of e-commerce websites are analysed. Recommendations are made on how the interfaces can be improved, thus leading to a higher level of trust. / Labuschagne, L., Prof.

A comparison of the fee-based citation resources Web of science and Scopus with the free citation resource Google scholar

Adriaanse, Leslie Sharon 06 June 2012 (has links)
M.Phil / Citing is the process by which scholars give recognition to research used by another academic researcher. Citation resources are tools used by academic scholars for keeping track of who did what research and the impact of the research within the discipline. Citation analysis is therefore an attempt to measure the impact and contribution of a study to the body of knowledge and research. Citation tracking and citation analysis is facilitated by making use of information resources which specialize in citations and tools for conducting citation analysis. The citation resource by The Institute for Scientific Information (ISI), Web of Science (WOS), was traditionally the citation tool of choice of academics for more than 40 years. The arrival in 2004 of Scopus, a fee-based citation resource, and Google Scholar (GS), a citation resource available for free and accessible via the Web, presented WOS with competition. The prolific growth of the citation resources created new opportunities for academics in citation tracking and citation analysis. The question of which citation resource to use in the process of tracking citations and conducting citation analysis posed a challenge to librarians and information professionals at academic institutions. It became essential to establish which citation resource was not only most relevant to use for which subject discipline, but which was the most cost-effective with the advent of shrinking library budgets. Therefore the need arose for citation resources to be compared with the aim of establishing whether the newcomers Scopus and GS are substitutes for or complementary to the traditional WOS. The objectives of this study included comparing WOS, Scopus and GS in order to determine whether evaluation criteria existed for citation resources, to define scholarly environmental sciences journals within a South African context, to determine which citation resource presented the most comprehensive citation coverage of the South African scholarly environmental sciences journals, to determine whether GS could be considered a substitute for the fee-based citation resources WOS and Scopus, and to determine how the content of the exported data for the journal sample population compared in terms of content completeness and quality. The research study consisted of a detailed literature review, followed by an empirical component using a comparative research design and the technique of purposive non-probability sampling in order to define the sample population for the study. The South African scholarly environmental sciences journals internationally accredited during the period 2004-2008 were chosen as the sample target population. The study consisted of a pilot study and three measuring instruments that were compiled based on the literature review. The results of the macro-level evaluation established that Scopus surpasses both WOS and GS. On the other hand, the micro-level evaluation concluded that WOS surpasses Scopus and GS. The content verification process conducted determined that Scopus and WOS both surpass GS. These findings were presented at the 12th Annual World Wide Web Applications conference in September 2010. The study was able to establish that GS is not a substitute for WOS and/or Scopus for the South African scholarly environmental sciences journals. In addition, it was concluded that GS can be used as a supplementary citation resource to the fee-based citation resources WOS and Scopus. It was further determined that the citation resource Scopus can be considered a substitute for WOS, which was traditionally the citation resource of choice of academic researchers.

Asynchronous web-based technologies to support learning

De Villiers, Gabrielle Joy 12 March 2002 (has links)
This dissertation reports on an investigation into three web-based technologies to determine their usefulness and the extent to which they support learning. The study comprises three case studies, each examining a separate web-based technology, suitable for diverse groups of learners in terms of age group and background. The main contribution is to determine for whom and how these technologies could be used, with the intention of providing a systematic structure of web-learning possibilities for learners of different ages (children, undergraduates and postgraduates) and types of teaching (contact teaching and distance learning). It was found that web-based technologies could support learning. Their usefulness depends on how the instructional design addresses the different aspects of web-based learning, and whether or not the course and web-based material match the characteristics/needs of the target group. / Thesis (MA (Information Science))--University of Pretoria, 2003. / Information Science / unrestricted

An evaluation of "on-line" banking web sites in South Africa to determine essential design criteria

Palmer, Lydia January 2004 (has links)
The use of the Web to carry out business on the Internet has become a viable option in all business sectors, and Internet banking in South Africa is no exception. The nature of business on the Internet in South Africa and the World is investigated. The extent of Internet banking in South Africa is ascertained and the expectations and perceived problems of online bankers are discussed. The importance of Human Computer Interface and Web Interface Design for successful business is promoted with a discussion of their guidelines and principles. Web Evaluation techniques and Tools are assessed and The "Gartner" Web evaluation tool is selected to evaluate the three bank Web sites. The results of the evaluation indicate that there are several generally well implemented design criteria used by all of the banks while some criteria are not implemented at all. Each bank is discussed individually to identify strong and weak features of their Web site design. Essential aspects of Web design have been proposed for inclusion during the design of "online" Banking Web sites.

Valle-Ruiz, Ricardo January 2017 (has links)

Vegas-La-Rosa, Vanessa January 2017 (has links)
