Design and Linearization of Energy Efficiency Power Amplifier in Nonlinear OFDM Transmitter for LTE-5G Applications. Simulation and measurements of energy efficiency power amplifier in the presence of nonlinear OFDM transmitter system and digital predistortion based on Hammerstein-Wiener method

Mohammed, Buhari A. January 2019 (has links)
This research work has made an effort to understand a novel line of radio frequency power amplifiers (RFPAs) that address initiatives for efficiency enhancement and linearity compensation to harmonize the fifth generation (5G) campaign. The objective is to enhance the performance of an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing-long term evolution (OFDM-LTE) transmitter by reducing the nonlinear distortion of the RFPA. The first part of this work explores the design and implementation of 15.5 W class AB RF power amplifier, adopting a balanced technique to stimulate efficiency enhancement and redeeming exhibition of excessive power in the transmitter. Consequently, this work goes beyond improving efficiency over a linear RF power amplifier design; in which a comprehensive investigation on the fundamental and harmonic components of class F RF power amplifier using a load-pull approach to realise an optimum load impedance and the matching network is presented. The frequency bandwidth for both amplifiers was allocated to operate in the 2.620-2.690 GHz of mobile LTE applications. The second part explores the development of the behavioural model for the class AB power amplifier. A particular novel, Hammerstein-Wiener based model is proposed to describe the dynamic nonlinear behaviour of the power amplifier. The RF power amplifier nonlinear distortion is approximated using a new linear parameter approximation approach. The first and second-order Hammerstein-Wiener using the Normalised Least Mean Square Error (NLMSE) algorithm is used with the aim of easing the complexity of filtering process during linear memory cancellation. Moreover, an enhanced adaptive Wiener model is proposed to explore the nonlinear memory effect in the system. The proposed approach is able to balance between convergence speed and high-level accuracy when compared with behavioural modelling algorithms that are more complex in computation. Finally, the adaptive predistorter technique is implemented and verified in the OFDM transceiver test-bed. The results were compared against the computed one from MATLAB simulation for OFDM and 5G modulation transmitters. The results have confirmed the reliability of the model and the effectiveness of the proposed predistorter. / Fundacão para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, Portugal, under European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme ... grant agreement H2020-MSCA-ITN- 2016 SECRET-722424 I also acknowledge the role of the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) Sokoto State Government Petroleum Technology Trust Fund (PTDF)

Wiener Fresco, Hugo Carlos 21 June 2024 (has links)

Atributos visuais para recuperação baseada em conteúdo de imagens mamográficas / Visual features for content-based mammographic images retrievel

Kinoshita, Sérgio Koodi 11 August 2004 (has links)
Visual texture based on texture and shape features were investigated for content-based mammographic images retrieval (CBIR). Scientific Workflows for Hadoop

Bux, Marc Nicolas 07 August 2018 (has links)
Scientific workflows provide a means to model, execute, and exchange the increasingly complex analysis pipelines necessary for today's data-driven science. Over the last decades, scientific workflow management systems have emerged to facilitate the design, execution, and monitoring of such workflows. At the same time, the amounts of data generated in various areas of science outpaced hardware advancements. Parallelization and distributed execution are generally proposed to deal with increasing amounts of data. However, the resources provided by distributed infrastructures are subject to heterogeneity, dynamic performance changes at runtime, and occasional failures. To leverage the scalability provided by these infrastructures despite the observed aspects of performance variability, workflow management systems have to progress: Parallelization potentials in scientific workflows have to be detected and exploited. Simulation frameworks, which are commonly employed for the evaluation of scheduling mechanisms, have to consider the instability encountered on the infrastructures they emulate. Adaptive scheduling mechanisms have to be employed to optimize resource utilization in the face of instability. State-of-the-art systems for scalable distributed resource management and storage, such as Apache Hadoop, have to be supported. This dissertation presents novel solutions for these aspirations. First, we introduce DynamicCloudSim, a cloud computing simulation framework that is able to adequately model the various aspects of variability encountered in computational clouds. Secondly, we outline ERA, an adaptive scheduling policy that optimizes workflow makespan by exploiting heterogeneity, replicating bottlenecks in workflow execution, and adapting to changes in the underlying infrastructure. Finally, we present Hi-WAY, an execution engine that integrates ERA and enables the highly scalable execution of scientific workflows written in a number of languages on Hadoop.

Kounta, Moussa 03 1900 (has links)
We consider diffusion processes, defined by stochastic differential equa- tions, and then we focus on first passage problems for Markov chains in dis- crete time that correspond to these diffusion processes. As it is known in the literature, these Markov chains converge in distribution to the solution of the stochastic differential equations considered. Our contribution is to obtain ex- plicit formulas for the first passage probability and the duration of the game for the discrete-time Markov chains. We also show that the results obtained converge in the Euclidean metric to the corresponding quantities for the diffu- sion processes. Finally we study an optimal control problem for Markov chains in discrete time. The objective is to find the value which minimizes the expected value of a certain cost function. Unlike the continuous case, an explicit formula for this optimal value does not exist in the discrete case. Thus we study in this thesis some particular cases for which we found this optimal value.

Improved frequency domain measurement techniques for characterizing power amplifier and multipath environments

McKinley, Michael Dean 19 August 2008 (has links)
This work focuses on fixing measurement inaccuracies to which models and figures of merit are susceptible in two wireless communication environments: power amplifier and multipath. To emulate or rate the performance of these environments, models and figures of merit, respectively, are often used. The usefulness of a model depends on how accurately and efficiently it emulates its real-world counterpart. The usefulness of a figure of merit depends on how accurately it represents system behavior. Most discussions on the challenges and trade-offs faced in modeling nearly always focus on the complexity of the device or channel of interest and the resultant difficulty in describing it. Similarly, figures of merit are meant only to summarize the performance of the device or channel. At some point, either in generation or verification of a model or figure of merit, there is a dependence on measured data. Though the complexity and performance of the device or channel are challenges by themselves, there are other significant sources of distortion that must be minimized to avoid errors in the measured data. For this work, the unique distortion of power amplifier and multipath environments is considered, and then errors in measurement which would obscure these distortions are eliminated. Specifically, three measurement issues are addressed: 1) identifying measurement setup artifacts, 2) achieving consistent measurement results and 3) reducing variations in the environment. This work contributes to increasing the accuracy of microwave measurements used in the modeling of nonlinear high-power amplifiers and used in figures of merit for power amplifiers and multipath channels.

Παπανικολάου, Παναγιώτης 20 October 2010 (has links)
This thesis attempts to apply Noise Reduction algorithms to signals of music and draw conclusions concerning the performance of each algorithm for every musical genre. The main aims are to clarify the basic problems of sound enhancement and present the various algorithms developed for solving these problems. After a brief introduction to basic concepts on sound enhancement we examine and analyze various algorithms that have been proposed at times in the literature for speech enhancement. These algorithms can be divided into three main classes: spectral subtractive algorithms, statistical-model-based algorithms and subspace algorithms. In order to evaluate the performance of the above algorithms we use objective measures of quality, the results of which give us the opportunity to compare the performance of each algorithm. By using four different methods of objective measures to conduct the experiments we draw a set of values that facilitate us to make within-class algorithm comparisons and across-class algorithm comparisons. From these comparisons we can draw conclusions on the determination of parameters for each algorithm and the appropriateness of algorithms for specific noise conditions and music genre.

Fluctuations des marches aléatoires en dimension 1 : théorèmes limite locaux pour des marches réfléchies sur N / Fluctuation's theory of random walk in dimension 1 : local limit theorems for reflected random walks on N

Essifi, Rim 19 March 2014 (has links)
The purpose of this thesis is to establish some local limit theorems for reflected random walks on N. The fluctuations theory and the Wiener-Hopf factorization play a crucial role. We will develop in the first part a classical approach that we will apply to the study of random walks on R+ with non-elastic reflections at zero. In the second part, we will explicit a different method which involves algebraic tools, complex analysis and factorization techniques, using in an essential way generating functions. These approach was developed 50 years ago to cover Markov walks, it will be presented in this part in the case of random walks with i.i.d jumps where many simplifications appear and will be then used to study random walks on N with either elastic or non-elastic reflections at zero. Finally, in the last part, we will introduce the useful tools to establish a Wiener-Hopf factorization in a markovian framework in order to study the fluctuations of Markov walks on Z. We investigate some previous work, especially some proofs that warranted to be more detailed, with a mediumterm objective of applying the algebraic tools described above to study reflected Markov walks on N.

The hardware development for increasing the image resolution still has a higher cost than the algorithmic solutions for super-resolution. Like image restoration, super-resolution is also an ill-conditioned inverse problem, and has an infinite number of solutions. This work analyzes the iterative restoration methods (Van Cittert, Tikhonov-Miller and Conjugate Gradiente) which propose solutions for the ill-conditioning problem and compares them with the IBP method (Iterative Back Projection). The analysis of the found similarities is the basis of a generalization, such that other iterative restoration methods can have their properties adapted, as regularization of the ill-conditioning, noise reduction and other degradations and the increase of the convergence rate can be incorporated to the techniques of super-resolution. Two new methods were created as case studies of the proposed generalization: the first one is a super-resolution method for dynamic magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the swallowing process, that uses an adaptiveWiener filtering as regularization and a non-rigid registration; and the second one is a pan sharpening method of SPOT satellite bands, that uses sampling based on sensor s characteristics and non-adaptive Wiener filtering.
