Social work with female rape survivors : An exploration of what challenges social workers may experience in their work with female rape survivors and the strategies and methods used in this work

Bergström Östling, Louise, Fält, Elin January 2017 (has links)
The aim of this study was twofold. First, to explore what challenges social workers may experience in their work with female rape survivors. The second aim was to explore how social workers work with females who have survived rape. A qualitative research design was chosen, and semi-structured interviews with social workers were conducted. Thematic analysis was used to structure the findings. Four themes were found in connection to challenges; feelings of shame and guilt among rape survivors, the criminal proceedings, to not be able to help all survivors and lastly potential threats to social workers’ own wellbeing. The findings regarding methods were that the social workers adapt their work strategies based on the needs of the survivor. The social workers used strategies focused on reducing feelings of shame and guilt and normalizing symptoms.

The Relationship Between Stress Levels and Study Forms in University

Donnrin, Madea Malwina January 2019 (has links)
This study examines how two common ways of studying, mandatory Group study and Individual study, affects students’ mental health. 45 Swedish University students were scouted on the web and linked to an online questionnaire where they rated themselves during two conditions: working in group projects and working individually. A Student's t-test showed a strong significant difference between stress levels during Group study and Individual study, with Group study generating higher levels of distress among the participants. These findings are relevant to the discourse of stress and stressors in the educational environment as well as in work settings.

Med fokus på möjligheterna istället för sjukdomen : en kvalitativ undersökning om validations- och reminiscensmetoden utifrån ett personalperspektiv

Forsberg, My, Håkansson, Josefin January 2007 (has links)

The purpose of our study has been to examine the methods of validation and reminiscences from an employee point of view. To answer our aim a qualitative disquisition with four assistant nurses and one pedagogue in craft was conducted. The result was divided into three different themes: the view on people with dementia, merits and demerits with the methods and to work with people with dementia. The analysis of the result was made from selected parts of the system theory and symbolic interaction theory.

The result of our disquisition can be summarized in that all our interviewed persons above all only can see advantages with the methods and several express that they are good tools to use in their work with people with dementia. The majority of our interviewed persons make use of the methods in everyday, spontaneous, meetings with the elderly. Everyone mentions the workgroup as an important factor in the work with the validation and reminiscence methods. Some experience a support in their work from their colleagues while others feel themselves being impeded.

Förskolepedagogers uppfattningar av sitt arbete kring energiomsättningen / Preschool teachers´ understanding of their work related to energy metabolism

Jelvez, Alina January 2010 (has links)

The aim of this study is to examine the understanding, preschool teachers, have about their work related to energy conversion in the human body. Through individual interviews, answers have been sought to the following questions: What do the preschool teachers believe they need to know about the link between food and energy? What are the different methods preschool teachers use to workwith the area of energy conversion in the human body?

The results show that preschool teachers have knowledge in terms of food and its nutrients as an energy source for the body to cope with. However the more thorough and detailed questions become all the more uncertainty there is about the topic. Preschool teachers on their own initiative do bring up the topic with the children and begin conversations as well as ask questions, perform experiments and demonstrations. However, there is still a demand for further education in this topic among preschool teachers, as well as requests on advice and ideas on how to work with children around the body’s energy.

It is important that preschool teachers raise the subject with the children at an early age, in order to create awareness, understanding and interest in the children’s mind. With the children becoming older, also their understanding develops. This drives the importance of the preschool teachers’ performance and commitment in order to obtain meaningful work.

Keywords: knowledge, work methods, interest, further education.
/

Hadzic, Ajsa, Bezzina, Samir January 2020 (has links)
The primary purpose of this thesis was to examine the work methods implemented by outreach workers in their interaction with at risk youths. The secondary purpose was to research the possible difficulties that may occur and the tactics to deal with these difficulties. In order to examine the purposes presented the authors produced a qualitative study with 5 semi-structured interviews with outreach workers. After conducting the interviews, the authors used thematization in order to illustrate the empirical data. The theoretical framework used to analyze the empirical data consist of three theories; the theory of communication, system theory and social bond theory. The results of the empirical material gathered from the interviews and from the analyzation of the interviews using out theoretical framework, provided multiple answers as it relates to the purpose. The results regarding the primary purpose showed that there is a lack of evidence-practice within the field of outreach work, which in turn leads to the fact that there is a vast variety of work methods applicable within their field. The results of interviews implied that outreach workers adapt their work methods depending on the situation and their personal expertise indicating that there are no specific set of methods that have to be used. As it pertains to the secondary purpose a clear correlation is shown between the vast variety of work methods and the many difficulties that may occur. Subsequently the occurrence of the different difficulties ensues based on the diverse established work methods. The study highlights the knowledge, communicational abilities and social skills of the individual outreach worker as way to reduce the probability of the conceivable diverse difficulties from occurring.

"Det jag gör för en, gör jag för alla" : En kvalitativ intervjustudie om hur lärare beskriver språkutvecklande arbetssätt för att främja flerspråkiga elevers språkutveckling inom ämnet svenska / "What I do for one, I do for all" : A qualitative interview study on how teachers describe language development work methods to promote multilingual students' language development in the swedish subject.

Waerland, Anton January 2020 (has links)
For decades, Sweden has been a multilingual country and multiligualism is a natural part of today’s society. At least one fifth of all pupils in the school have a different mother tongue than Swedish. For teachers, it will be more relevant to conduct language development teaching which gives students the conditions to develop both language and subject knowledge. The purpose of this study is to investigate how teachers in elementary school describe their language development methods with multilingual pupils in the Swedish subject. The study is based on the sociocultural perspective as well as semistructured interviews. The result shows that the teachers work on language development throughout the school day and they point out how important it is to work on language development for students’ language and knowledge development. Modelling and the EPA- model are two concrete and effective working methods that are used by the teachers. However, it emerges that the teachers usually do not reflect on their way of working as it happens automatically and that the students mother tongue is not used as a resource in the classroom.
