Throughout the process of learning how to interpret, there are some factors that can influence students' interpretive practice. On the one hand, there are factors related to the text level of difficulty, the speed and length of the discourse of, dialectal variants, among others. On the other hand, there are the cognitive factors. However, there are other factors related to emotions, personality traits and motivations regarding academic subjects. These factors are known as individual differences. Therefore, the aim of this study is to analyze the individual differences of the students of Professional Translation and Interpretation at Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas (UPC) in the Interpretation Workshops 1 and 2. The research will use a mixed, quantitative, and qualitative approach; therefore, it is intended to apply the techniques of surveys and focus groups. To address the first sub objective (internal and external affective factors), the modified and adapted questionnaires of Chiang and Beck will be used: Chiang's Anxiety and Interpretation Learning Questionnaire (2006) and Beck's Anxiety Inventory (1988). For the second and third sub objectives (experiences on affective factors and motivations), a focus group guide will be created. In this regard, the students of such workshops are the subjects of study of this research. / Trabajo de investigación

The effect of a corporate diversity workshopNaidoo, Vyjantimala 06 1900 (has links)
The daunting challenge that faces South African business is to redress the inequalities of past discrimination and to develop to its maximum the potential of every team member while remaining competitive. Some of the key challenges include creating a supportive and attractive work environment that's inclusive of diversity, staff retention and an organisational culture that will leverage diversity. The case study organisation faced similar challenges. In order to understand the dynamics a diversity workshop was designed and consulted from a systems psychodynamic paradigm. The primary task of the Diversity Workshop was to provide opportunities for members to study and learn about intrapersonal, interpersonal and inter group relationships in relation to diversity behaviour in the workplace. 50 participants attended the workshop and 22 participants completed the questionnaire. The content was analysed and themes from a psychodynamic stance identified. The overall objective of the workshop was met as it made unconscious behaviour visible, allowed participants to reflect, facilitated dialogue and enabled transfer of learning to the workplace. This approach allowed groups to move from basic assumptions to task oriented behaviour. / Industrial and Organisational Psychology / M. Com. (Industrial Psychology)

The Impact of Direct Writing Conventions Instruction on Second Grade Writing Mechanics MasterySheehan, Kristen I. 01 January 2015 (has links)
This applied dissertation was designed to determine the impact of direct writing conventions instruction on second grade writing mechanics mastery at an independent school in southeast Florida. The research study utilized a nonexperimental quantitative method. The design was pretest-posttest with a control. The pretest-posttest assessment was the Children’s Progress Academic Assessment. The score utilized in the analysis was the Phonics/Writing subtest. De-identified data were collected and analyzed from two separate second grade classes from two consecutive school years (i.e., 2011-2012, 2012-2013). The control group consisted of 43 second graders who received writing conventions instruction in the context of student writing during individual and small group conferences. The control group received no direct writing conventions instruction. The treatment group consisted of 39 second graders who received direct writing conventions instruction through the use of mini-lessons during the writing workshop. An analysis of the de-identified data revealed that, although the treatment group mean change score had a positive change greater than the control group change score, the change was not statistically significant. The researcher failed to reject the null hypothesis relative to a statistically significant difference between the two groups. Recommendations were made for future research.

Implementace průřezového tématu Osobnostní a sociální výchova do dílen čtení / Implementation of the Cross-Curricular Theme of Social and Emotional Learning into a Reading WorkshopSaňáková, Petra January 2021 (has links)
The thesis is divided into two parts, theoretical and research part. The theoretical part is dedicated to reading workshops, specifically to their importance. Reading workshop is a teaching method that develops reading skills and creates a reading community in the classroom. Furthermore one of the cross-curricular themes, Social and Emotional Learning (SEL), is introduced. The goal of the research part of the thesis is to identify the possibilities of connecting these two areas, to describe how reading workshops are led by elementary school teachers, to determine whether and how can the cross-curricular theme of SEL be incorporated into the reading workshop. This goal was achieved through semi-structured interviews with teachers. The interviews show that the teachers aim at various goals during the preparation for reading workshops, nevertheless they usually don't implement the outputs of the SEL. They would appreciate using inspiring lesson plans. In response to their need, eleven lesson plans for reading reading lessons were added to the thesis. They are aimed at fulfilling the objectives of SEL. KEYWORDS cross-curricular theme of social and emotional learning, reading workshop, reading literacy, reading comunity, sharing

Kulturkvarteret : Overlooking maximal economic profit in order to reach ecological and social sustainability / Kulturkvarteret : Förbise maximal ekonomisk vinst för att nå ekologisk och social hållbarhetWikman, Klara January 2023 (has links)
At the end of December 2022 Malmö had almost 360 000 inhabitants. According to Malmö Stad, the estimated number of inhabitants is expected to be 500 000 by the year of 2050. To make room for more people in the city, many of the old industrial areas in and around Malmö need to be densified and remade. One of these areas is called Nyhamnen. My site, a block consisting of six old silos and the magasin facilities is located here. The landlord wants to tear them down to make space for new buildings, but Malmö Stad wants to keep at least the six cylinder shaped silos and make them part of a future Nyhamnen.I want to believe that all of them could be saved, upcycled and repurposed with (economic, ecological and social) sustainability in mind. The industrial areas, threatened by demolition, are important for the cultural life in Malmö since they are perfect hosts for studios, ateliers and workshops. The densification of Malmö’s industrial areas are considered to ‘build away’ the cultural activities and force them to find other places to go, which is easier said than done. Culture and social perspectives are to be weighed together with the perspectives of economy and ecology in order to reach a sustainable city. Kulturkvarteret - a project of recycling, upcycling and re-adapting an old and underused industrial building in Nyhamnen, with sustainability as the driving force. It consists of a restaurant, workshops, ateliers, exhibition spaces and social areas meant for integrating people, starting conversations and socializing as well as apartments functioning as a sanctuary for the artists of Malmö.

Verkstadslayout – digital visualisering av fabrikslayout / Workshop layout – digital visualization of factory layoutVallin, Daniel, Ramos, Roberto January 2019 (has links)
This thesis is done in collaboration with a company. The goals are to develop a userfriendly digital model of the workshop, to suggest three improved layout proposals with repositioning of equipment and machines. Improvements should also be proposed in the sustainability aspects of economy, social and environmental. To achieve the goal of creating a digital workshop layout, the project team measured the entire factory with the aid of laser rangefinders, because exact drawings were missing. When visiting the factory, all the necessary information could be measured for the creation of the digital factory model. The visits to the factory have provided inspiration for new layout suggestions and improvements. Observations and interviews with staff have been made. Production flows and processes for the largest product groups have been mapped. Literature relating to production technology, work environment and other relevant areas has been studied. The project group has carried out light measurement in the factory. The lighting was satisfactory. Noise reduction measures have been proposed. The digital factory model has been created in the Microsoft Visio software after evaluation based on company specification and KTH's software. The three layout proposals that have been developed have been evaluated and compared to each other in an evaluationscheme to determine a final proposal for a new workshop layout. Layout proposal 2 received the highest score in the evaluation, where lower costs, improved flow and improved access for forklifts were the contributing factors. In short the proposal suggest that the centerless grinders are moved to the area that has been renovated, a lathe is moved to accommodate forklifts, the quality control station is movedand more space is freed up for pallets.

PROMĚNA BRNĚNSKÉHO BRONXU / TRANSFORMATION OF BRONX IN BRNONajvarová, Lucie January 2014 (has links)
The strategy reacts to social exclusion of inhabitants of the Cejl district. It supports employment and intends to build a dynamic public space, that is missing in the area. Social urbanism focuses on the interaction of inhabitants between each other and with the spaces, and creates conditions for new workplaces. The massive broken block gets the order. The park defines a system for future development and opens up new possibilities of usage. Thanks to its low cost construction, the park can work immediately. The order created by the park allows the future objects to emerge freely and spontaneously. The design is not definitive, but it works in every phase or combination.

Repurposed+ : Changing attitudes towards secondhand clothes in the suburbs of KalmarAlaga, Adam January 2022 (has links)
My project is about changing the attitudes towards secondhand clothes in the suburbs of Kalmar with repurposing fashion. Secondhand clothes have a bad reputation in the suburbs and in my project, I am seeking where the prejudice coming from, what is acceptable, etc. in hopes to create something that is acceptable and something that grabs the interest of the people from the suburbs of Kalmar. I'm trying to spread the good things about secondhand and teaching people in the suburbs how to repurpose their own clothes in my workshop called “Repurposed+”.Hopefully, this will also connect people and create an interest/hobby for them which will benefit their futures.
