Bridging the Distributor into a Collaborative Demand and Supply Planning Process

Eksoz, C., Onkal, Dilek 2018 January 1930 (has links)
Yes / Based on their study of the food distribution supply chain, Can Eksoz and Dilek Önkal argue that the distributor has largely been overlooked in the principles we’ve created for collaborative demand and supply planning. Their article re-inserts the distributor into the supply chain and examines the challenges of collaboration from the distributor’s vantage point. This is a good lesson in how collaborative agreements must address the particular structures of the supply chain as well as the markets in which the supply-chain partners operate.

Outcomes of implementing Team-Based Learning (TBL): the experiences of UK educators

Nelson, M., Tweddell, Simon 12 May 2020 (has links)
Yes / Team-Based Learning (TBL) is a collaborative learning model that refocuses classroom time to solving relevant problems instead of dispensing information. This is accomplished by a pre-class readiness assurance process that promotes accountability to self-directed learning and teamwork. While research related to the student experience with TBL is present in the literature, there is a relative lack of research published on the experiences of academic staff with TBL. Using a qualitative approach and a semi-structured interview format, this study explored the experiences of 26 academic staff in the UK who implemented TBL using a semi-structured interview format. Thematic analysis of interview text yielded five themes related to curriculum design, student outcomes, and the professional development of academic staff. / Supported by a grant from the Regis University Research and Scholarship Council.

LivelyViz: an approach to develop interactive collaborative web visualizations

Bazurto Blacio, Voltaire 03 January 2017 (has links)
We investigate the development of collaborative data dashboards, comprised of web visualization components. For this, we explore the use of Lively Web as a development platform and provide a framework for developing web collaborative scientific visualizations. We use a modern thin-client approach that moves most of the specific application processing logic from the client side to the server side, leveraging the implementation of reusable web services. As a web application, it provides users with multi-platform and multi-device compatibility along with enhanced concurrent access from remote locations. Our platform focuses on providing reusable, interactive, extensible and tightly- integrated web visualization components. Such visualization components are designed to be readily usable in distributed-synchronous collaborative environments. As use case we consider the development of a dashboard for researchers working with bioinformatics datasets, in particular Poxviruses data. We argue that our thin-client approach for developing web collaborative visualizations can greatly benefit researchers in different geographic locations in their mission of analyzing datasets as a team. / Graduate

Social Media for international collaborative learning – A case study from Palestine

Tawileh, Wissam 21 March 2017 (has links) (PDF)
International experience is important to prepare university students for the modern labor market in the globalized knowledge economy. While financial, societal, and political obstacles may limit students’ mobility in developing countries, using Web 2.0 and Social Media applications can enable them to engage in a virtual social learning environment to interact with peers and instructors abroad in an enjoyable, inclusive international Virtual Collaborative Learning experience. This study investigates the factors influencing Palestinian students’ perception of this experience, and explores the enhancement potential to fit the needs of developing countries. Thirty-four contextual, design, and individual factors were linked by course participants from Palestine to their reported motivation, enjoyment, and satisfaction in this new learning scenario. Recommended improvements in the design and implementation of similar arrangements are concluded from the qualitative evaluation of this empirical case study.

An artistic approach of the circus in middle school : an Physical & Sport Education didactic engineering in circus arts for 2nd year of middle school

Coasne, Joëlle 08 April 2013 (has links)
» (Loquet, Roncin & Roesslé, 2007) / Our research is a didactic engineering of cooperative type (Sensevy and Haberdasher, 2007) which attempts to make live in a 2nd year of middle school, the complexity of the circus, work (Chevallard, on 1995,) at the "risk of the art" (Wallon, on 2002), between "games of Ilinx and games of Mimicry" (Caillois, on 1958). By the analysis of the verbal and physical interactions, we analyze the impact of serious games that attempt to make come the class to the circassian epistemic games. The Joint Action Theory in Didactics (TACD) establishes the theoretical foundations of the construction of our research tools and our methodology that pursues the "knowledges circulation between professor and pupils".

Vallet, Laurent 18 September 2012 (has links)
This thesis aims to strengthen the protection of privacy of authors in collaborative editing of electronic documents. The first part of our work consisted in the design a secured model for a collaborative document editor. Documents' confidentiality is ensured through a decentralized access control mechanism. A second part of the work was to protect the identity of communicating users by ensuring their anonymity during collaborative document editing. Our concept of collaborative editor is based on the use of sets of modifications for a document, which we call textit{deltas}. Thus, deltas define versions of the document and they can keep the history of subsequent modifications. When a new version of a document appears, only the new delta that results must be transmitted and stored : documents are thus distributed across a set of storage sites (servers). We show how this allows, first, to reduce the load of document version control system, and secondly, to improve overall security of the collaborative system. Decentralized recovery of a new version requires only recovery of appropriate deltas against a previous version and is therefore more efficient than recovering the entire document. The information of the link between deltas is stored directly with deltas and not in a table or a metadata object, that improves their security. The version control system maintains consistency between versions. Once a user has retrieved versions, she holds them in local, and the history can be accessed at any time without being necessary to connect to the central server. Deltas can be identified, indexed and maintained their integrity through the use of hash functions.

Interactivity in Cybermedia News: An Interview with Journalists in Colombia, Peru, and Ecuador

Barredo Ibáñez, Daniel, Pinto Garzón, Karen, Freundt-Thurne, Úrsula, Medranda Morales, Narcisa 05 1900 (has links)
Interactivity is a factor on which cyber journalism is based and summarizes participation options between a user and the medium, a user with other users, and a user with editors. In this study, we focus on the latter in three countries-Colombia, Peru, and Ecuador-, which have been identified owing to their technological gap and the emerging importance of online communication for their respective societies. Through 35 in-depth interviews with journalists from these countries, we analyzed the concept of interactivity of these professionals and their relationship with users. The results revealed that the journalists positively valued civic contributions as a space for diagnosis, although they do not perceive its informational value, as they relate them to the context of opinions. These results verify the prevalence of journalism as strongly influenced by conventional offline production routines.

Santorum Gaibor, Marco Oswaldo 30 November 2011 (has links)
Nowadays, organizations have to be flexible enough to allow adjustments to new circumstances, users' requirements, respecting environmental constraints and technological evolution. Business process management (BPM) technologies provides the base that enables to adapt, optimize and evolve the business. However modeling can be hard and costly, often done by business analyst experts. In contrast, ISEA Method is a collaborative approach that lets functional actors of a process design together in a fun, fast and simple way a consensual and evolved process representation. ISEA Method is based on the traditional BPM life cycle, but introduces four original phases: Identification, Simulation, Evaluation, Amelioration These phases are supported by quality process improvement tools and use a role-playing game (serious game) in order to stimulate people and modeling in a collaborative way. The result is a “basic” and optimized process representation that we convert in a BPMN model by using the IDM approach .

Les nouvelles formes de pratique sonore en réseau : pratique collaborative, création partagée, Internet comme non-espace, écoute prolongée et installation permanente / New forms of networked sound practices : collaborative practice, shared creation, the Internet as a non-space, extended listening and permanent installations

Ottavi, Julien 28 September 2018 (has links)
Since the advent of portable technologies and the Internet, many artists conceive their works beyond a given space and time and invent permanent and immaterial forms scattered over the networks. Within the framework of this research, the aim is to produce a series of sound works using the network and collaborative modes of participation, as well as to stimulate discussion of the concepts revealed by these new practices and forms of artistic language: noise, sound poetry and experimental music. This research will focus on the key elements of a connected laboratory of shared sound production: questions will be raised through the lens of the author’s own artistic practice using geodelocalised forms of installation and simultaneous musical performances on the Internet. I will also consider the work and thinking of a community of artists within this field and seek to understand how these artists and theorists formulate their thoughts and create new concepts. Finally, this thesis addresses these creative projects, practices and expertise and articulates a theoretical methodology which draws together current forms of artistic language relating to cutting edge music and poetry and networked practices
