Estudo comparativo entre duas técnicas para montagem do modelo de gesso de arcadas superiores em articulador semi-ajustável / A comparative study between two techniques to mount the maxillary cast in semi-adjustable articulator

Costa, Rogério Ribas da 20 November 2001 (has links)
This study assessed the ability of two techniques to mount the maxillary cast in the articulator, a conventional technique and one of direct transfer of the maxillary arch impression from the patient\'s mouth to the articulator. A single female subject, 39 years old, with a partially edentulous arch, Kennedy´s Class I, was used in this investigation. It was obtained 20 casts in each technique, totaling 40 cast mountings in the articulators. With the maxillary cast mounted, each articulator was photographed in the same right side of the lateral skull cephalometric radiograph of the patient with the face-bow mounted in her face. The measures obtained by the photographic and cephalometric tracings were evaluated by calculating the angle made by the intersection of the maxillary occlusal plane with craniofacial horizontal reference plane (Frankfort´s plane) on the patient´s cephalogram and comparing it with the angle between the occlusal plane of the cast with the upper member of the articulators in both techniques using the UTHSCSA Image Tool computerized program. The measuring data was submitted to the statistical analysis. The results of this study demonstrated a better capacity of reproduction of that angle when a direct transfer technique is used. In the same way, it was found a significant low level of reproducibility in mounting the maxillary cast when a conventional technique is used.

Aquapark Brno / Water park Brno

Smička, Matěj January 2018 (has links)
The topic of the diploma thesis is the design of the Luzanky sport complex in Brno. The main objective of the diploma project was to create a new modern sport recreation area which will be situated next to the existing swimming pool. The main function is an aquapark with indoor and outdoor pools, which will fulfil all needs of visitors. There are few other functions added, such as café, smaller fitness and massages. Absolutely main objective is to connect the existing pool with the pools of the Aquapark - so the visitors could be using all indoor swimming areas. There are also parking spots designed within this project - nearby is a parking garage connected by footbridge leading from the existing swimming pool alongside the Aquapark building. This footbridge is intended for people who come to Brno to the Aquapark - for families with children that is - therefore it ensures safe and uninterrupted crossing from the garage to the new Aquapark complex. This complex will meet the requirements and current expectations of the visitors in the area. It will also increase the attractiveness of the entire territory.

Saesan, Paul, Lebeda, David January 2005 (has links)
The property owners' strategies for shopping centers - A comparative study of two shopping centers. In Sweden there are a constantly increasing number of shopping centers, which proportionally increases the competition for customers. To meet escalating competition and customer demands, shopping centers have begun diversifying, some quite extensively. The purpose of our study is to examine how the concept affects the design and structure of two different shopping centers in Malmö, Triangelns Köpcentrum and Gallerian Storgatan. We shall also examine how this diversification affects the profile and marketing strategies of these two shopping centers depending on which target groups they aim to obtain. The shopping center owners target different customer groups depending on marketing strategies. Managers try to strengthen their images toward the right customer groups through the use of attractive marketing and profiling policies. Using a correct mixture of tenants creates a harmonic feeling throughout the shopping center and this plays an important roll in attracting the desired customer groups.Gallerian Storgatan wants to attract a smaller target group of customers and therefore has a limited product range, while Triangelns Köpcentrum that wants to attract a larger customer group and therefore has a larger product range. The range of tenants in a shopping center and the placement of shops, cafés and restaurants are strongly influenced by the managers different structuring and design ideas. With this under consideration, we can conclude that the managers are trying to create their own unique concept and profile.

Intenzivní dům v Brně / Intenzive Urban Housing Brno

Giacintová, Sylva January 2015 (has links)
The subject of this thesis is the architectural study of revitalization of a city block and its spatial structure. Selected part of city was solved already in previous project that preceded own thesis. Merger proposal will allow a larger number of different functions within the complex, which will ensure the residents to various forms of housing, services and employment and leisure activities. The studied area is located in the city of Brno-Veveří. Plan shape of the object based on the area in which the three parties connected to the access road. Mass and spatial design respects the surrounding buildings and uses the sidewalks along the whole of the area. The matrix of the object is divided by two axes passing through the object into three blocks linked by a courtyard. This creates a square with a water surface with the possibility of recreation and sitting under the trees. The shape of these three blocks is further formed in several height terraced layers. Do terraces are placed in the atrium and individual residential and office units have large windows and balcony available. This solution brings natural light into the interior while allowing illumination of the courtyard and surrounding objects within the chosen area. This spatial structure is horizontally divided by function. There are proposed underground public garage, arcade with shops, services, administration and housing. The exterior of the building is designed by combining brick facades and white plaster, which works like optically lighter impression of the building.

APPOLO - Towards integrated urban education in Pretoria : a multi-functional vertical primary school

Du Plessis, Dewald 30 November 2010 (has links)
The Apollo Project investigates the recent establishment of numerous private educational institutions in the inner city of Pretoria. It identifies the need for adequate urban educational facilities and explores the use of existing buildings as schools. An existing educational cluster is identified at the eastern edge of the inner city, defined by Church, Du Toit and Pretorius Streets, and Nelson Mandela Drive. This city block and the ones surrounding it contain numerous primary, secondary and tertiary educational institutions in a predominant industrial/automotive precinct. An urban design framework is proposed for the precinct. It is envisioned that the precinct may be developed as a mixed-use urban educational campus. Within the existing city block and the urban framework proposal, the Apollo Centre, located on the corner of Church-and Du Toit Street, is selected for an adaptive re-use intervention. The proposed use is an urban primary school. The Apollo project investigates current pedagogical trends, which informed a concept that is largely defined by the idea of contextual learning within a vertical structure. Transparency and integration of education with the urban environment is at the core of the proposal. The traditional notion of horizontal education is explored in a vertical manner. The existing structure is analyzed and a position taken regarding the adaptive re-use process that informs the design. Precedent Studies include existing schools within the inner city of Pretoria as well as local and international schools. The process of converting the Apollo Centre into a primary educational facility, that shares its resources on a cross-programming basis, is explored in a series of proposals. The numerous explorations are considered in their various aspects, as well as their relationship to the whole, which then leads to a final design proposal. Key areas of the proposed Apollo Primary School will finally be resolved technically. A conclusion summarizes the author’s thoughts on the result of the project. / Mini Dissertation (MArch(Prof))--University of Pretoria, 2010. / Architecture / unrestricted
