The Armenian question in the Swedish parliament : A study of how the members in the Swedish parliament have debated about the Armenian genocide from 1916–2019

Yousif Harut, Eva January 2021 (has links)
This study is about how the parliamentary parties in Sweden has debated about the Armenian genocide 1915. The overall purpose is to increase the understanding of the underlying reasons why parties in the parliament, whose political program is both interested in immigrant groups but not, choose to argue for a recognition of the Armenian genocide over the years. The study uses two theories, ethnicity and nationalism where the focus is on nationalism which is about what is characterized as nationalism and whether the members of the Swedish parliament can relate to this. The second theory is the use of history, where the purpose is to find out how the members use history in different ways. It has also been analyzed how recurring the Armenian question is in the Swedish parliament. The interesting results are that politicians believe that nationalism was a contributing factor to the outbreak of the Armenian genocide. Nevertheless, they even use history in different ways when they are debating about this historical event. You also get an insight into how the recurring issue has been discussed in the parliament in more depth in the study.

Die Aschen der Opfer schlagen in unseren Herzen: Zu einer Theorie der Memorialkultur Armeniens

Gispert, Jürgen 11 June 2021 (has links)

Riskfylld arena: en strategisk säkerhetspolitisk analys av USA:s engagemang i Kaukasus / Venue of Venture: A Strategic Security Analysis of the US Engagement in the Caucasus

Larsson, Robert L. January 2002 (has links)

Nesi, Alexander January 2024 (has links)
This essay studies the historical phenomenon of dog-headed men (cynocephaly) andSaint Christopher who is in eastern-orthodox iconography depicted as a dog headedman. The study argues that a symbolic and phenomenological perspective is preferredto understand mythical figures with “unnatural” depictions. In order to reach aconclusion about the symbolic meaning behind dog-headed men and SaintChristopher, the human experience of dogs and their role in our world is examined indetail to construct a theory concerning their symbolism. The theory is then applied todepictions of dogs and dog-headed men in religious stories and images as well ashistorical accounts to see if the theory fits the facts. The study concludes that dog-headed men and Saint Christopher symbolize a kind of“guardian of the border”. What it means to guard the border has different implicationsdepending on if the dog-headed man is depicted in a Christian or non-Christiancontext. When reading the story of Saint Christopher with this pattern in mind, thereason for his legendary depiction is revealed. The conclusion is supported bycomparing Saint Christopher to stories from the bible which symbolize “the rolewhich the border can play as a part of the whole”. The dog-headed men of history, thesaint and the biblical stories all reinforce the symbolism of each other, revealing thedeeper meaning behind the wild, peripheral side of Christianity.

Johannes Lepsius' missiologie (the missiology of Johannes Lepsius) / Missiology of Johannes Lepsius

Baumann, Andreas, 1969- 31 October 2005 (has links)
SUMMARY The object of this research work is the missiology of Johannes Lepsius. The task of the investigation is to collate the most important missiological opinions and beliefs of Johannes Lepsius from the large number of his published writing and then to present them in a systematic overview for the first time. They are characterised specifically by the fact that the missiology of Johannes Lepsius can only be de¬veloped from an overview summary of numerous individual statements which are generally to be found in smaller papers and journal articles. Therefore it is necessary to appreciate and interpret his individual writings in their specific - and also biographical - contexts. From the reworking of the theological prin¬ciples of Johannes Lepsius' missiology, his views on mission work amongst Muslims and some other special missiological questions, it becomes clear that Johannes Lepsius - despite existing parallels with other missiological models from a theological and missiological point of view - is to be viewed as an independent thinker. The knowledge of the missiological beliefs which underpin Lepsius' very varied missionary, theological, socio-diaconical and political activities makes it possible to have a better un¬derstanding of his biography that from the outside seems so incoherent. His missiology - especially his un¬derstanding of the Kingdom of God - also offers interesting inputs for today's missiological discus¬sions, especially as far as the question of the relationship between missionary work and social commit¬ment is concerned. / The object of this research is the missiology of Johannes Lepsius.
