On the evolution of self-organising behaviours in a swarm of autonomous robots

The goal of the research activities presented in this thesis is the design of intelligent behaviours for a complex robotic system, which is composed of a swarm of autonomous units. Inspired by the organisational skills of social insects, we are particularly interested in the study of collective behaviours based on self-organisation.<p><p>The problem of designing self-organising behaviours for a swarm of robots is tackled resorting to artificial evolution, which proceeds in a bottom-up direction by first defining the controllers at the individual level and then testing their effect at the collective level. In this way, it is possible to bypass the difficulties encountered in the decomposition of the global behaviour into individual ones, and the further encoding of the individual behaviours into the controllers' rules. In the experiments presented in this thesis, we show that this approach is viable, as it produces efficient individual controllers and robust self-organising behaviours. To the best of our knowledge, our experiments are the only example of evolved self-organising behaviours that are successfully tested on a physical robotic platform.<p><p>Besides the engineering value, the evolution of self-organising behaviours for a swarm of robots also provides a mean for the understanding of those biological processes that were a fundamental source of inspiration in the first place. Illegitimate acquisition and use of data is a problematic issue faced by many organizations operating web servers on the internet today. Despite frameworks of rules to prevent ”scraping bots” from carrying out this action, they have developed advanced methods to continue taking data. Following research into what the problem is and how it can be handled, this report identifies and evaluates how machine learning can be used to detect bots. Since developing and testing a machine learning solution proved difficult, an alternative solution was also developed aiming to polarize (separate) bot and human traffic through behavioral analysis. This particular solution to optimize traffic session classification is presented and discussed, as well as, other key findings which can help in detecting and preventing these unwanted visitors. / Olaglig insamling och användning av data är problematiskt för många organisationer som idag använder sig av webbservrar på internet. Trots ramar av regler för att förhindra ”scraping bots” så har de utvecklat avancerade sätt att komma åt data. Efter forskning om vad problemet är och hur det kan hanteras, identifierar och evaluerar denna rapport hur maskininlärning kan användas för att detektera bottar. Då utvecklingen och testningen av en lösning med hjälp av maskininlärning visade sig bli svårt, utvecklades en alternativ lösning med målet att polarisera (separera) bottrafik och legitim trafik. Denna lösning presenteras och diskuteras i rapporten tillsammans med andra nyckelresultat som kan hjälpa till att upptäcka och förhindra dessa oönskade besökare.

In the first section, the concept of a marketing complex and its significance for the company's activities are revealed, the main advantages and disadvantages of using intelligent technologies in marketing are described, and the problem of finding an effective channel for attracting customers is revealed and updated. The second section describes the industry of higher professional education, provides a comparative analysis of the channels for attracting applicants, and describes the channels used. Examples of the use of chatbot technology for business process automation are presented, the activities and structure of the Department of MUS Urfu are developed and described, the AS-IS model is created, which highlights the problem of choosing the most effective channel for attracting applicants, and then the TO-BE model is created. The third section is composed of Charter and project plan for creating a chat bot to attract students to the graduate program of the Department of the ICC, Urfa, analyzed competitive advantages and possible threats of the project, written marketing and organizational plans for the project calculation of the economic efficiency of the project, step by step described the process of project implementation. The terms of reference for development, the algorithm and screenshots of the development process, according to the planning, are given in appendices 1-4. / В работе приведено описание отрасли высшего профессионального образования, произведён сравнительный анализ каналов привлечения абитуриентов, описаны применяемые каналы. Представлены примеры применения технологии чат-бот для автоматизации бизнес-процессов, разработана и описана деятельность и структура кафедры МУС УрФУ, создана модель AS-IS, в которой выделена проблема, заключающаяся в выборе наиболее эффективного канала привлечения абитуриентов, далее создана модель TO-BE. Составлены устав и план проекта по созданию чат-бота для привлечения абитуриентов на программу магистратуры кафедры МУС УрФУ, проанализированы конкурентные преимущества и возможные угрозы проекта, составлен маркетинговый и организационный планы проекта, произведён расчёт экономической эффективности проекта, поэтапно описан процесс реализации проекта.

Среди имеющихся аналогов Discord-ботов в первой части работы доказывается и разбирается актуальность создания музыкального Discord-бота, и, вместе с тем, требования реализации его серверной части. Далее описывается выбранная методология разработки и поясняется выбор стека технологий, а именно фреймворк, база данных, необходимость и приложение для контейнеризации проекта. В третьей части приводится принцип работы основных частей функционала бота: взаимодействие с API, реализация плеера и способ воспроизведения музыки. В конце описывается способ тестирования серверной части бота и делаются выводы. Данная работа опубликована на конференции ИНТЕР в секции «Искусственный интеллект и программная инженерия» (2023 г.). / Among the available analogues of Discord bots, the first part of the work proves and examines the relevance of creating a music Discord bot, and, at the same time, the requirements for implementing its server part. The following describes the selected development methodology and explains the choice of technology stack, namely the framework, database, need and application for containerizing the project. The third part describes the operating principle of the main parts of the bot's functionality: interaction with the API, implementation of the player and the method of playing music. At the end, a method for testing the server side of the bot is described and conclusions are drawn. This work was published at the INTER conference in the section “Artificial Intelligence and Software Engineering” (2023).

Актуальность темы обусловлена необходимостью различных предприятий в автоматизации процесса обработки обращений клиентов в чаты, для повышения эффективности работы сотрудников и снижения ресурсных затрат, а также для повышения уровня клиентского сервиса. Цель работы: улучшение качества обслуживания клиентов посредством разработки чат-бота, автоматизирующего бизнес-процессы обработки обращений клиентов в чат на языке программирования Python в мессенджере «Telegram» с интеграцией бота в Яндекс.Алиса. Для достижения поставленной цели необходимо решение следующих задач: изучил понятия чат-бота и его функции; использовать преимущества использования мессенджеров для бизнеса; настроить языки программирования и выбрать язык для разработки чат-бота; выбрать мессенджер, в котором будет реализован чат-бот; разработать ИТ-проект по разработке чат-бота. Объектом исследования данной выпускной квалификационной работы является информационная система предприятия. Предметом исследования является обработка бизнес-процессов клиентов с часто задаваемыми вопросами в клиентских сервисах различных предприятий. Научная новизна составила то, что проанализировано большое количество программных средств для реализации проекта, показано большое количество прикладных чат-ботов в бизнесе, а также разработан уникальный чат-бот. Практическая оригинальность заключается в том, что данного чат-бота можно применять в любой компании, в которой есть бизнес-процесс обработки обращения клиентов в чат. / The relevance of the topic is due to the need of various enterprises to automate the process of processing customer requests in chats, to increase the efficiency of employees and reduce resource costs, as well as to increase the level of customer service. Goal of work: improving the quality of customer service by developing a chat bot that automates the business processes of processing customer requests via chat in the Python programming language in the Telegram messenger with the integration of the bot into Yandex.Alice. To achieve this goal, it is necessary to solve the following tasks: studied the concepts of a chatbot and its functions; take advantage of the benefits of using instant messengers for business; configure programming languages and select a language for developing a chatbot; select the messenger in which the chatbot will be implemented; develop an IT project to develop a chatbot. The object of study of this final qualifying work is the enterprise information system. The subject of the study is the processing of customer business processes with frequently asked questions in customer services of various enterprises. The scientific novelty was that a large number of software tools for the implementation of the project were analyzed, a large number of applied chatbots in business were shown, and a unique chatbot was developed. The practical originality lies in the fact that this chatbot can be used in any company that has a business process for processing customer requests via chat.

Under de senaste åren har lärosäten genomgått betydande förändringar, med en ökande trend mot distansutbildning, särskilt på grund av Covid-19-pandemins påverkan. I den digitala omställning som blivit, har artificiell intelligens (AI) och särskilt chattbotar börjat spela en allt större roll inom utbildning. Genom att det erbjuder omedelbar tillgång till studiematerial och stöttning. Chattbotar har blivit alltmer populära bland studenter, för deras förmåga att tillhandahålla omedelbar hjälp eller stöd. Särskilt i en tid där distansundervisning har blivit normen. Denna studie belyser den alltmer växande integreringen av chattbotar inom utbildning. Genom inspiration av modeller som Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) och Task Technology Fit (TTF), strävar undersökningen efter att förstå faktorer som påverkar studenternas acceptans och användning av chattbotar. Syftet är att bidra till en djupare förståelse för distansstudenters inställning och syn på chattbotars användning och roll inom högre utbildning. Studien präglas av en semistrukturerad enkätundersökning som skickats ut till en grupp distansstudenter inom högre utbildning i Sverige, det vill säga individer som studerar vid högskola eller universitet. Resultatet visar att respondenterna ser chattbotar som ett värdefullt komplement till traditionella undervisningsmetoder, som effektiviserar studier genom snabb information och stöd, men också på i flera fall, utmaningar. Genom att identifiera både potentialen och utmaningarna med chattbotar öppnar denna studie upp för en bredare dialog om teknologins roll i att främja lärande och pedagogisk utveckling i det digitaliserade samhället. / In recent years, educational institutions have undergone significant changes, with a growing trend towards distance studies, particularly due to the impact of the Covid- 19 pandemic. In the digital transition that has ensued, artificial intelligence (AI), especially chatbots, has begun to play an increasingly prominent role in education by offering immediate access to study materials and support. Chatbots have become increasingly popular among students for their ability to provide immediate assistance or support, especially in a time when distance learning has become the norm. This study highlights the increasingly growing integration of chatbots in education. Drawing inspiration from models such as the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and Task Technology Fit (TTF), the study aims to understand the factors influencing students' acceptance and usage of chatbots. The aim is to contribute to a deeper understanding of distance students' attitudes and perceptions regarding the use and role of chatbots in higher education. The study is characterized by a semi-structured survey sent to a group of distance students in higher education in Sweden, that is, individuals studying at colleges or universities. The result shows that the respondents view chatbots as a valuable complement to traditional teaching methods, enhancing studies through quick information and support, but also presenting several challenges. By identifying both the potential and challenges of chatbots, this study opens up a broader dialogue about the role of technology in promoting learning and pedagogical development in the digitized society.

BOT附屬事業放棄選擇權之研究-以台灣南北高速鐵路計畫為例

國內外對BOT實質選擇權之研究,大多集中於BOT主體本身所隱含之各種選擇權價值,鮮少論及BOT附屬事業之選擇權價值。惟因交通運輸BOT主體之自償率往往偏低,故須以保證最小運量或特許經營附屬事業等方式,來吸引潛在投資者。附屬事業對整個BOT計畫價值的影響頗大,如何針對其選擇權之價值加以分析為本研究的主要課題。個案將以台灣南北高速鐵路計畫為例,對其附屬事業之放棄選擇權加以探討。 本研究將主要探討下列課題,並提出研究結果: 一、有限差分法及蒙地卡羅模擬法計算選擇權價值,其間之差異?本 文利用有限差分法及蒙地卡羅模擬法來各別求算BOT 附屬事業的 放棄選擇權價值,一來了解 BOT 附屬事業的放棄選擇權價的大 小,二來比較有限差分法及蒙地卡羅模擬法兩者間的差異。 二、BOT附屬事業的放棄選擇權是否受主體事業的經營績效所影響? 三、BOT附屬事業是否須考量履約保證金之設計? 四、BOT主體決定經營或放棄時,是否會影響其附屬事業之放棄選擇 權價值? 本研究係以蒙地卡羅模擬法及有限差分法單獨估計台灣南北高速鐵路附屬事業之放棄選擇權價值,並建立運輸主體與附屬事業間價值的關聯,再以蒙地卡羅模擬法作更精確的估算。另使用單因子變異數分析及Tukey's Multiple Comparison Method之統計方法,驗證BOT主體與其附屬事業選擇權間之相關性,期能有助於日後BOT計畫之參與者評估及決策使用。 / The study of the Real Option Analysis (ROA) thesis of BOT generally focus is on the principal parts of the project only, rarely is considered the option of ancillary business of BOT. Because the self-liquidation-ratio of the transportation of BOT is low, it needs the government financial support (minimum traffic guarantee or revenue enhancements) to attract the interest of intended investors. The influence of the ancillary business of BOT is huge, so how to evaluate the option is the big issue of thesis. The case focus on the Taiwan High Speed Rail BOT project, and will study the option value of it’s ancillary business. Thesis will discuss the following issues, and develop the result of study. 1.The calculation difference between Monte Carlo Simulation & Finite Difference Method to work out option value, Thesis will use the Monte Carlo Simulation & Finite Difference Method to work out the abandon option value of ancillary business of BOT. To get the abandon option value and compare the calculation difference between Monte Carol Simulation & Finite Difference Method. 2.Will the abandon option value of ancillary business of BOT be influenced by the principal parts of the project? 3.Is there a need to consider the performance security deposit of ancillary business of BOT? 4.Will the decision of BOT impact the abandon option value of ancillary business or not? The thesis will use the Monte Carol Simulation & Finite Difference Method to calculate the abandon option value of ancillary business of Taiwan North-South High-Speed Railway Project (THR), and create the relation between the BOT & it’s ancillary business. The thesis will use the ANOVA & Tuley’s Multiple Comparison Method to validate the relationship, and hope it will let the participator to consider in the future.

深海水域展示設計之研究 ─以台灣海生館之「世界水域館」為例

【中 文 摘 要】 博物館功能主要為「展示、教育、研究、典藏」,其中「展示」為博物館與大眾接觸最直接的方式。在現代科技發展中,「展示」的觀念與形式也有所改變,互動式展示日受重視,虛擬呈現的比例亦逐漸加重。 本研究以「國立海洋生物博物館」之BOT專案「世界水域館」《深海水域》電子展示設計為主題,以實務個案為例,探討自然博物館如何規劃與製作深海水域的生態展演,與如何利用〝虛擬實境〞、〝人工智慧〞與〝即時運算〞等尖端技術,架構出「世界第一」無水水族館的展示模式。 往昔自然生態展示以活體展示為主,即複製生態空間讓水中生物悠遊水族箱內。但為了超越時空,讓全球代表生態皆能集中於特定展示館內,遂有電子展示的觀念與製作,以擬仿物取代真實,創造尚‧布希亞的「超真實」世界。 本研究於製程的影音紀錄與相關人員的訪談中,歸納、整理出發展生態電子展示設計的因素與理想,探討製作上的困難之處,同時也以研究者觀點對展示設計過程提出檢討與建議。 深海水域生態在陸地上展示係屬跨越時空的創舉,本個案不但為台灣首例,在世界上亦為先驅。創新嘗試,成果雖不如預期,但以整個專案的具體呈現而言,實為相關領域之前鋒。本研究認為,整理與探討本個案,對未來電子展示設計與製作皆有參考價值;同時,由本個案所建置的生態電子展示平台,亦為台灣博物館界提供國際化的新思維,對博物館未來的展示設計奠定了新的基礎,創造一個新的開始。 / Abstract The main functions of museums are demonstration/exhibition, education, research and collection/preservation. “Exhibition” provides the most direct link between a museum and the public. As modern science and technology continue to develop, the concepts and formats of “exhibition” have also evolved. Interactive exhibits become more valued, and virtual simulation approaches have also increased in proportion. The focus of this research study is the electronic display design for the Waters of the World – BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) Project, pioneered by the National Museum of Marine Biology & Aquarium. This study uses this project as a case study to explore how a Nature museum planned and produced an exhibit of The Deep Sea waters ecology, and with the use of the most advanced technology such as VR (Virtual Reality), AI (Artificial Intelligence), and the “real-time operation,” etc., how the museum built the world’s first protocol for a water-less aquarium. In the past, ecological exhibits mainly constituted real living creatures, by duplicating the ecological environment necessary for underwater creatures to survive in an aquarium. But, in order to go beyond the limitation of space and time, and to facilitate the presentation of global ecology within a specific exhibition space, the electronic display concept and production has thus been introduced. It is to imitate reality and create a world of hyper-reality, as depicted by Jean Baudrillard. Relying on historical video and audio records, and actual interviews with key people on the project, this research study summarized factors and objectives of the original design, and discussed difficulties encountered in the production process. In addition, the study also provided input and recommendations concerning the design process. The exhibition of The Deep Sea waters ecology on land is a pioneering act, second to none. The case is not only a 1st in Taiwan, but also a 1st of its kind in the world. Although the new attempt has not exactly achieved the expected outcomes, it did initiate a pioneering work within ecology demo field. The researcher believes that the case study is a valuable reference for future electronic display design and production. In the meantime, the ecological electronic-platform created by this project provides an international perspective, and establishes a new milestone for further development in the future.
