Standardizace postupů při znaleckém posuzování cihelného zdiva / Standardization of procedures for the brick masonry expert assessment

Kostka, Rostislav January 2014 (has links)
The article is focused on the definitions of brick masonry expert assessment and brick masonry buildings assessment methodologies. The expert diagnostic procedures include building diagnostics, defects determination, static ensuring and so on. It is also necessary to choose the proper procedure of defects measurement and remediation. It is very important not to neglect the determination of costs. One of the methods that can greatly help in the process of assessing the condition of buildings is the brick masonry defects and faults monitoring with an emphasis on long-term measurements of the cracks shifts of various origin. Cracks are one of the most common disorders appearing in brick masonry buildings. In the article I compare and evaluate monitoring of the most significant cracks appearing during the excavation of Královopolský tunnel situated under Dobrovského street in Brno, where some depressions and inclinations of existing buildings had happened, as well as st. Gothard church in Brno Modřice and some masonry school building in Brno. In these selected cases the methodology of brick masonry expert assessment was verified.

Incremento de la productividad de tabiques de albañilería confinada utilizando el sistema constructivo de bloques apilables en seco y autoencajables Ital Block / Increase in the productivity of confined masonry partitions walls using the constructive system of Mortarless Dry-Stacked Interlocking Masonry Bricks Ital Block

Cuneo Passalacqua, Gian Piero, Ricaldi Miranda, Juan José 14 January 2019 (has links)
The principal objective of this research is to design a system that manage to reduce the cost and time in the construction of non-structural masonry walls. To achieve this, it has been designed a Mortarless Dry-Stacked Interlocking Masonry Clay Bricks which verifies all the imputable codes. To determine the performance of the system, the bricks were made and a wall with typical measurements was built. The results for this study are 17% of reduction in the direct cost (considering the whole wall) and 76 % less time used (alone in the brick seating). / Tesis

Cristini, Valentina 15 May 2012 (has links)
Cristini, V. Hotel and Conference Center for Foreign Dignitaries

Hershey, Stephen Paul 14 August 2013 (has links)
Located along the bank of the Potomac River in Langley Virginia, this Hotel and Conference Center is a place of gathering and refuge for foreign dignitaries. Each building shares the characteristic of protruding volumes and surfaces reinforced by parallel load bearing masonry walls.  These brick walls buffer the interior from the exterior and demarcate the program. Punched voids provide natural light.  Each element including entry, wall, stair, column, and fireplace is designed to comply with the collective composition.    The circulation is situated along the building\'s edge, thus guiding people from center to edge across diagonals and through corridors naturally lit from adjacent windows.   Drawing played an essential role throughout the design.  In the following drawings the process of design and discovery in architecture is intelligible.  The question of "how" is more revealing than the question of "what." / Master of Architecture

A house for a person is not at home - A critical analysis and design proposal for Hökarängen and Gubbängen

Svensson, Mikael January 2022 (has links)
Since most of the inner city of Stockholm and its nearest surroundings is built, the city is now aiming its strategy of development towards the suburbs of the outer city. Two of these are Hökarängen and Gubbängen of which both have seen several housing densification projects lately. The regional plan states how planning investments in the outer parts of the city should contribute with public space and urban connections. Despite this, what is built is housing with low public ambitions. In this thesis I therefore propose how Hökarängen and Gubbängen could be developed in terms of public space that contribute to the urban connection of the two suburbs. I propose a series of typical public buildings, a bath, a library, a cinema, and a theater. The bath attaches itself to the character of Gubbängsfältet as a sports and recreational field. The library and the cinema are placed in the middle of the two suburbs as a central meeting place, while the theater is placed towards Hökarängen. The gathering buildings are kept together by lower perimeter buildings creating embraced courtyards for cultural meetings, recreation, bath, and play.

A Study of the Dynamic Behavior of a Solid Grade SW Brick using the Split Hopkinson Pressure Bar

Williams, Erin Marie 01 May 2010 (has links)
The purpose of this investigation was to provide quality dynamic strength properties for a solid grade severe-weather (SW) brick material and to illustrate the need for careful evaluation of the strain-rate effects on geomaterials. A split Hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB) was used to perform a series of tests on specimens from a solid grade SW brick to determine the mechanical response of this material at high strain-rates. Both classical and modified SHPB tests were performed. The results from the classical SHPB tests provided evidence that modifications to the SHPB are necessary when testing geomaterials such as brick. To modify the SHPB, a small copper disk was placed at the impact end of the SHPB incident bar to increase the rise time of the initial pulse. The material response from the modified SHPB tests provided an average compressive strength of 104 MPa, which resulted in a dynamic increase factor of 1.42.

Nynäshamn City Hall / Nynäshamns Stadshus

Blomberg, Gabriel January 2019 (has links)
A city hall is more than a building; it is a symbol that represents the ambitions of the city, a working democracy and civic interaction with politicians. The city hall must not only be welcoming for visitors and comfortable for workers, but also feel solid and durable to succesfully function as a symbol for the community for many years. Strong but welcoming, open but solid.

Strängnäs City Hall / Strängnäs City Hall

Jalas, Veronika January 2019 (has links)
Strängnäs City Hall is a place for the people of Strängnäs to come together. The building is separated into two parts, one part for the people working in the building and one part for the public. The part for the workers consists of a traditional brick building with views overlooking the harbor. The public part has a glass facade, inviting people into the building. Inside the visitor moves through a café into the exhibition hall, up a ramp to the chambers, and further up to the restaurant with the rooftop terrace. The ramp connects the public part to the private part of the building on each level, both physically and visually, bringing the politicians and the residents of Strängnäs together.
