The objective in this work is to understand the action of the sacred in any miracle purpose, our goal is to analyze the concepts of miracle cure in the Catholic Charismatic Renewal presented by the faithful, from their narratives about how they its impacts on personal and social life of those who took part in the experience of the miraculous phenomena, that is, cancer cure. Charismatic Renewal, thus enabling an environment conducive to the pursuit of religious offering (occurrence of miracles) to the sacred, from feelings as belief and supernatural faith, but without leaving the conventional treatment. Reestablishing them physical, psychic and emotionally, giving them a purpose (nomia) to their existence. It will be developed through a field research, supported in the sociological discussion of religion that will enable us to identify each Catholic Charismatic Renewal, beyond the therapeutic function, element as convener (because of its paradoxical character), between Religion and Medicine, faith and science. In particular, it will be focused through this labor, to analyze and present the experience of the miracle with a group of 7 (seven) women Brazil. For this current analysis, it will be used, in our fieldwork, two investigative methods: participant observation and implementation of two research questionnaires (self-applicable). Therefore we realize that religion, mainly the Catholic Charismatic Renewal is a way to provide its followers to try religion or it may lead to the meeting cancer. In Catholic Charismatic Renewal, the miracle cure comes as a converging space between Religion and Medicine because these two realities in modern ages are prone to reconnect towards the solution of modern problems. This encounter provides changes in the psychological and social behavior, because they correspond, respectively, a change in the order of the conscious and unconscious and, hence a behavioral intrapersonal and interpersonal change. / O objeto de estudo deste trabalho é a Renovação Carismática Católica, movimento pentecostal, pertencente à instituição religiosa cristã católica romana. Buscar-se-á, nessa tese, compreender a ação do Sagrado nas eventuais curas milagrosas da RCC nos diversos exercícios espirituais praticados pelos seus adeptos. Para tal propósito, o objetivo é analisar as concepções da cura milagrosa na Renovação Carismática Católica apresentadas pelos seus fiéis, a partir de suas narrativas sobre como testem impactos na vida pessoal e social daqueles que participaram da experiência dos fenômenos milagrosos, isto é, a cura do câncer. A RCC, ao possibilitar um ambiente propício para a busca da oferta religiosa (ocorrência dos milagres) aos seus fiéis, faz com que alguns de seus adeptos experimentem a manifestação do Sagrado, a partir de sentimentos de crença e fé no sobrenatural, sem, todavia, abandonar o tratamento convencional. Restabelece-os, tanto física, psíquica e emocionalmente, dando-lhes sentido (nomia) à sua existência. Será desenvolvida uma pesquisa de campo, amparada na discussão sociológica da Religião que nos possibilitará identificar a RCC, além da função terapêutica, como elemento congregador (por conta de seu caráter paradoxal) entre religião e medicina, fé e ciência. De modo especial, buscar-se-á, neste trabalho, analisar e apresentar a experiência do milagre com um grupo de 07 (sete) mulheres que dizem terem sido curadas no Grupo de cidade de Goiânia, GO. Para análise, serão utilizados, neste trabalho de campo, dois métodos investigativos: observação participante e aplicação de dois questionários (auto-aplicáveis) de pesquisa. Percebe-se que a Religião, de modo específico, a RCC possibilita ao fiel a experiência religiosa ou o encontro do homo religiosus com o Sagrado dentro da trama humana da doença cancerígena. Na Renovação Carismática Católica, a cura milagrosa apresenta-se como um espaço convergente entre Religião e Medicina porque essas duas realidades na modernidade estão propensas a se re/aproximar em prol da solução dos problemas modernos. Esse encontro proporciona mudança nos comportamentos de ordem psicológica e sociológica porque corresponde, respectivamente, a uma mudança da ordem do consciente e do inconsciente e, consequentemente, a uma mudança comportamental intrapessoal e interpessoal.

It involves an interdisciplinary discussion on the understanding of the process the subject goes through in the joining in dynamics. It is, therefore, with the instruments from the social sciences and psychology, as well as the Freudian psychoanalyses, that this work is achieved, understanding that the categories of this theoretical approach complement each other in the understanding of the joining in process in its full length. The conscious and unconscious subjectivity supporting the joining in and the new ethical posture, consequence of the process, constitute the study s driving force. Thus, the dialectic man in Freud and Durkheim, in his partiality of fragility and might, determines the empirical work and the analytical conclusions. The subjective motivation is discussed as the attracting force, that determines the religious transit to CCR and the permanence of the faithful in this group, which is in the process itself. The identifications accomplished are presented, as well as the renewed identities, the redefined self-images, to lead to new ethical option. The man who lives this process is identified in his dichotomy between fragility and reactivity, between helplessness and the omnipotent attitude. Fragile because he suffers and is reactive in his individual and collective moral strength, as sees Durkheim. Constitutionally helpless and defending himself from that with a megalomaniac instinct, in Freud s view. This man wants relief from suffering and seeks in CCR the cure for his illnesses. The approach of the charismatic offering turns to the possibility of responding to the expectations of the faithful. It reflects itself on the transformations of the adherents and the possible points of intersection between the therapeutics of the CCR and psychology s ordinary psychotherapies. In the effort to understand the phenomenon of the subject s reconstruction, from the joining in the charismatic renovation movement, the contributions psychology can add to this study are also numbered, as well as the subsidies it can receive in a feedback basis in its task to elucidate man s psychical dimension. / O que se vai ler centra-se no estudo dos motivos que impulsionam as pessoas a se decidirem pela adesão à Renovação Carismática Católica. Trata-se de discussão interdisciplinar na compreensão do processo por que passa o sujeito na dinâmica da adesão. É, pois, com os instrumentos das ciências sociais e da psicologia, bem como os da psicanálise freudiana, que se empreende esse trabalho, por entender que as categorias dessa abordagem teórica, se complementam para o entendimento da adesão na sua amplitude total. A subjetividade consciente e inconsciente incentivando a adesão e a nova postura ética, como conseqüência do processo, constituem a força motora do estudo. Assim, o homem dialético de Freud e Durkheim, na sua parcialidade de fragilidade e potência, determina o trabalho empírico e as conclusões analíticas. Discute-se a motivação subjetiva como a força de atração, determinante do trânsito religioso para a RCC e a permanência do fiel nesse grupo, que é processual. Narram-se as identificações realizadas, as identidades renovadas, as auto-imagens redefinidas, para resultar em nova opção ética. Identifica-se o homem que vive esse processo, na sua dicotomia de fragilidade e reatividade, do desamparo e atitude onipotente. Frágil, porque sofredor e reativo na sua força moral, individual e coletiva, como vê Durkheim. Constitucionalmente desamparado e se defendendo disso com a sua pulsão megalômana, na concepção freudiana. Esse homem quer alívio para seu sofrimento e busca na RCC, cura para seus males. A abordagem da oferta carismática se volta para a possibilidade de responder às expectativas dos fiéis. Reflete-se sobre as transformações dos adeptos e possíveis pontos de intersecção entre a terapêutica da RCC e as psicoterapias convencionais da psicologia. No empenho para compreender o fenômeno da reconstrução do sujeito, a partir da adesão ao movimento renovador carismático, relata-se a contribuição que a psicologia pode dar a esse estudo, bem como, a possibilidade de receber subsídios para a sua tarefa de elucidar a dimensão psíquica do homem.

A investigação buscou encontrar, no emaranhado de lutas por poder e chances de prestígio, o fio condutor pelo qual se desenrolou o processo de transformação de um movimento religioso carismático, de religiosidade altamente emotivo-pneumática a uma religião desencantada, hierarquizada e institucionalizada. Para isso utilizou-se farta documentação e interpretação histórica que permitiu uma observação mais detalhada dos fenômenos sociais investigados. No plano teórico-metodológico empregou-se como instrumental teórico fundamental de pesquisa, primeiramente a teoria da dominação carismática de Max Weber, sua teorização dos processos de transformação do carisma e sua sociologia da religião. O outro referencial teórico imprescindível encontra-se na obra do sociólogo alemão Norbert Elias, a saber, seus conceitos de psicogênese e sociogênese, figuração, processo de monopolização, equilíbrio das tensões entre outros, que permitiram um acesso privilegiado ao processo de longo prazo que conformou e solidificou o carisma genuíno do profeta-fundador Joseph Smith em uma religião ritualizada e uma instituição hierarquizada. / The research has aimed to accomplish a social-historical investigation of the process of routinization of charisma in Mormonism, seeking to perceive the change of the religious-prophetic charisma, and thus gathering elements which can enable to consolidate, considering a particular case, a more general theory of the occurrence of such social processes. The investigation sought to find, in the struggle for power and chances of prestige, the leading thread with which the process of change of a religious charismatic movement has developed, from highly emotional-pneumatic religiosity to a disenchanted, hierarchical and institutionalized religion. In order to achieve that, thorough documentation and historical interpretation has been applied, this way allowing a more detailed observation of the social phenomena investigated. The primarily theoretical instrument used in the research has been Max Weber theory of the charismatic domination, the theorization of the processes of charisma change and sociology of religion. The other essential theoretical reference can be found in the German sociologist Norbert Elias, including his concepts of psychogenesis and sociogenesis, figuration, monopolization process, balance of tension among others, which allow a privileged access to the long-term process which conformed and solidified the genuine charisma of the founder-prophet Joseph Smith in a ritualized religion and a hierarchic institution.

Analisaremos nessa tese redes pessoais entre líderes pentecostais e carismáticos que conduzem organizações religiosas com menos de vinte mil membros. Através dessas redes baseadas em contato e influência, tais líderes compartilham imaginários religiosos e políticos específicos e podem expandir o escopo de suas atuações atravessando fronteiras nacionais. Examinaremos de que forma dois conjuntos de relações pessoais foram construídos, como estão conectados entre si como uma única rede, e como estão integrados a uma cena transnacional mais ampla de pregadores itinerantes globais. Cada uma dessas sub-redes tem uma trajetória relacionada pelos atores com as “ondas” descritas pelas histórias oficiais do pentecostalismo e do movimento carismático. Nossa pesquisa foi desenvolvida durante os anos 2008 e 2009 em três cidades ao Sul da América Latina: Buenos Aires (Argentina), Porto Alegre (Brasil) e Montevidéu (Uruguai). / Since the beginning of the 20th Century Pentecostalism has been presented as a Christianity renewal movement emerged in the North that quickly spread to the South. Currently, increasing global and cultural exchange stimulates the diversification of internal social relations of this religious linkage. In this thesis it will be analyzed networks among leaders who conduct centralized religious organizations with less than twenty thousand members. Through these networks based on contact and influence, such leaders share specific religious and political imageries and can expand the range of their performance trespassing national boundaries. It will be examined in which way two sets of personal networks were built up, how they are linked between themselves as a unique network, and how they are integrated with a wider transnational scene of global itinerant preachers. Each of these subnetworks has a story linked by actors to the “waves” described by Pentecostal and charismatic movement official histories. Our research was performed during the years 2008 and 2009 among Pentecostal and charismatic leaders in three cities situated at Southern Latin America: Buenos Aires (Argentina), Porto Alegre (Brazil) and Montevideo (Uruguay).

A Renovação Carismática Católica tem uma presença marcante no catolicismo brasileiro durante o século XX. Trata-se de um movimento eclesial que provocou diversos desdobramentos na configuração do catolicismo depois do Concílio Vaticano II. A RCC se tornou espaço de elaboração e de encontro da identidade religiosa para muitos católicos. Esta pesquisa procura entender como se processou esse fenômeno a partir do conceito tipológico de Convertido proposto por Danièle Hervieu-Léger. Neste percurso abordam-se questões concernentes à RCC, passando pelo seu embate inicial com a pluralidade do catolicismo transformador esboçado pelas CEBs, além do catolicismo institucional, e com o catolicismo devocional muito forte no Brasil, pelo seu surgimento e expansão, com destaque para a significação do advento das Novas Comunidades no interior da RCC, bem como da relação entre as características de elaboração da identidade religiosa, cultivada na RCC e a modernidade. A metodologia usada é preponderantemente bibliográfica, conjugada com o manuseio de questionários que foram aplicados entre membros da RCC. / The Catholic Charismatic Renewal has an outstanding presence in the Brazilian Catholicism during the century XX. It is an ecclesial movement that led to several deployments in the configuration of the Catholicism after the Council Vatican II. RCC became elaboration space and of encounter of the religious identity for many Catholic. This research seeks to understand how this phenomenon takes place from the typological concept of "Convert" proposed by Danièle Hervieu-Léger. In this course concerning subjects are approached RCC, going by his/her initial shock with the plurality of the Catholicism transformer sketched by CEBs, besides the institutional Catholicism, and with the Catholicism very strong devocional in Brazil, for his/her appearance and expansion, with prominence for the significance of the coming of the New Communities inside RCC, as well as of the relationship among the characteristics of elaboration of the religious identity, cultivated in RCC and the modernity. The methodology used is preponderantly bibliographic, coupled with the handling of questionnaires that were applied between members of the RCC.

The choice of politicians with such religious affiliation was given due to the significant number of adherents, the Catholic Church's support and the national visibility for its events . For this, bills of state and federal deputies have been analysed, to know if their proposals are consistent with their political parties and CCR s interests. The study drew a biographical profile of heir representatives and the reasons that led charismatic Catholics to step into the political arena. / O objetivo deste trabalho é analisar o comportamento político-partidário dos políticos vinculados a Renovação Carismática Católica (RCC). A escolha dos políticos com essa filiação religiosa deu-se em razão do número expressivo de adeptos, apoio da Igreja Católica e visibilidade de seus eventos em nível nacional. Para isso, foram analisados os projetos de lei dos deputados estaduais e federais, para saber se suas propostas estão de acordo com os interesses da RCC ou dos partidos que são filiados. O estudo traçou um perfil biográfico dos seus representantes e quais os motivos que levaram os carismáticos católicos a adentrarem a arena política.

Cada uma dessas sub-redes tem uma trajetória relacionada pelos atores com as “ondas” descritas pelas histórias oficiais do pentecostalismo e do movimento carismático. Nossa pesquisa foi desenvolvida durante os anos 2008 e 2009 em três cidades ao Sul da América Latina: Buenos Aires (Argentina), Porto Alegre (Brasil) e Montevidéu (Uruguai). / Since the beginning of the 20th Century Pentecostalism has been presented as a Christianity renewal movement emerged in the North that quickly spread to the South. Currently, increasing global and cultural exchange stimulates the diversification of internal social relations of this religious linkage. In this thesis it will be analyzed networks among leaders who conduct centralized religious organizations with less than twenty thousand members. Through these networks based on contact and influence, such leaders share specific religious and political imageries and can expand the range of their performance trespassing national boundaries. It will be examined in which way two sets of personal networks were built up, how they are linked between themselves as a unique network, and how they are integrated with a wider transnational scene of global itinerant preachers. Each of these subnetworks has a story linked by actors to the “waves” described by Pentecostal and charismatic movement official histories. Our research was performed during the years 2008 and 2009 among Pentecostal and charismatic leaders in three cities situated at Southern Latin America: Buenos Aires (Argentina), Porto Alegre (Brazil) and Montevideo (Uruguay).
