Cirkus Cirkör i Alby Cirkus Cirkör vill göra människor modigare och göra världen och livet mer levande .. Verksamheten är stor och har något som vänder sig till de flesta..Målet att förändra världen med nycirkus. Cirkus Cirkör växer hela tiden och vill  nu samla hela sin verksamhet i en byggnad och behöver därför nya större lokaler. De är idag inrymda i en del av en stor lagerbyggnad i Alby, som delas med en bilmek. Byggndens anonyma utsida speglar inte alls veksamheten. Cirkus Cirkörs verksamhet har stor spännvidd och lokalerna skall tillgodose behov. Det finns en sida av cirkusen som vill visa upp sig utåt. Men detfinns också delar av cirkusen som behöver kunna dra sig undan,Jag vill att dessa två motsatser, introvert och slutet respektive extrovert öppet och inbjudande, ska synas i byggnaden.

In a sequence described in the next paragraphs, I remove the poorly insulated roof of Gustavsberg Porcelain Factory and make new use of its  foundation. The monolith cement slab, once supporting heavy industrial machinery, is now the site of lakes and other movements:The top floor area is split, and a new built volume, one story higher, overtakes the southern half resting on the factory’s basement, digging into it at its western and eastern ends. Striking horizontally, the fissure exposes a long central axis, taking advantage of the factory’s horizontality to articulate vastness . The building formation allows for long views and makes possible, for instance, an unhindered 100 meter sprint across the lot. The original brick facade now defines a large outdoor plain, encircling two bodies of water, a lawn, a wooded park, and a grassy knoll. The new clean facade built along the central fissure, through repetition of the domestic module triggers the illusion of a strangely familiar row of homes. Initiating a new archetypal episode, a kidnapped residential street now rests on transient glass and water. But stripped of adornment, exposed utilitarianism, the transplanted row comes to resemble its new environment. Inside grow a series of production spaces and display sequences. The building’s acquired industrial character now becomes a setting for creative inspiration and ensuing collaborative work, a resuscitation of the spirit of the derelict factory. / För att hantera gamla byggnaden och göra om den till en ny fabrik använde jag två teman i form av filtrering och förstärkning för att tillgodogöra ett ställe som hjälper i hantering av nutidens information som har ersättit den mer manuella arbertssätt. Fokus låg på dom yngre, barn även.  Jag tog den nuvarande byggnaden och drog bort taket på grund av dens olämpliga isolering och för att den hade bygts i slumpmässigt sätt under olika tidsperioder, ett slags lapptäcke. Insidan rensades, filtreras bort, för att göra stället lättare att förstå och mer solida element som fundamentet och tegelväggarna står kvar. Fabriken får en till våning för att frigöra halva ytan för att skapa en grässmata och vattenyta inramad av gamla tegelväggarna. Enkla ytor uppställs och förstärks i deras ensamhet på dess sätt i en grund för aktivitet: sport, lek, grupp aktiviteter, osv.  Fasaden står som en rad hus, en barnslig uppfattning av hem med syfte att skapa en känsla av identifiering heller ett minne som är ren och specifik. Vad vi har är ett hem som påminner om en fabrik, ett hem som hjälper att hantera information och hjärnans associationer. Vi har flyttat iväg till saker man inte kan ta i. Det här är nya fabriken och denna gång gjordes den för högra sidan av hjärnan.  Huset framställs som fragmenterad. Fasad och trappor dras iväg från insidan för att skapa en skyddad entre där man eventuellt kommer till en hall liknande ett hotel med rum att gå in till i jämna mellanrum. En serie av situationer uppställs: bibliotek, klassrum, presentations haller, svart box teater, studios i dess enkla former. Utrymmen ges för absorption och filtrering, där med hantering och skapandes med hjälp av en grund av information. Det nya ställs fram, presenteras med essentiella delar, och blir åter igen en grund för att flytta frammot, en repetition som är både nödvändig och oemotståndlig.  Till exempel, museum i fabriken kan bli ett samling av objekt, en tematisk kombination av artiklar heller objekt, liksom bokhyllor som inte nödvändigtvisst behöver böcker för att förmedla. I dess sätt strävar fabriken att lyfta fram tankar och hjälpa med att dela dom mellan varandra.

This thesis explores how textile contributes to meaning-making and spatial design in scenography. Through the theoretical lens of performativity theory, it studies three scenes from Cirkus Cirkör’s popular show Knitting Peace. Using semiotic analysis as formulated by Jan-Gunnar Sjölin, the thesis focuses on movement, spatiality and socio-cultural meaning through the three questions; How can textile enhance movement and rhythm? How is it used together with lighting to create changes in spatiality? And What connotations does textile induce, and how do they affect the overall meaning-making in scenography? The results suggest that textile is a valuable material in performance art and scenography. For example, textile behaves in ways that resemble both fluid and solid form. This allows for change of depth and shifting between open and closed spaces on stage with little effort. It also gives means to enhance and enlarge human movement in scale, intensity and time. In Knitting Peace this is used together with lighting design to create off sync layers of reality to symbolise a distorted dreamworld. The thesis shows how we can better understand the way textile affect us by applying perspectives that focus on its different characteristics. Moreover, it demonstrates that an interdisciplinary approach that builds on knowledge from different fields, such as fashion design and performance studies, can greatly benefit our understanding of the potential use of textile in arts.

This dissertation introduces contemporary circus as a type of dramatic art. The work thus provides a basic framework for the analysis of contemporary circus and suggests a terminology for the designation of its specific traits. This terminology is derived first and foremost from the Czech theatre studies environment. The theoretical delineation of contemporary circus stems from selected theses from Otakar Zich's The Aesthetics of Dramatic Art and Erika Fischer-Lichte's The Transformative Power of Performance: A New Aesthetics. Contemporary circus, which is depicted as belonging to several discourses - historical, aesthetic, cultural policy and pedagogical, is described from a formal as well as content-focused point of view in order to best point out how the circus element changes and takes on meaning in relation to its theatrical counterpart. The thesis is subdivided into five parts. The introduction outlines the key theme, goals and methodology as well as terminology and theories which provide the work with a suitable point of departure. The Contemporary and Traditional Circus chapter describes the history and development of traditional as well as contemporary circus in selected countries (France, Canada, USA, Scandinavia) which are considered significant within the context of circus arts...

I denna undersökning tar vi upp hur en designprocess kan ses ur ett agentiellt perspektiv. Detagentiella perspektivet är framtaget av Karen Barad som i sin forskning i kvantfysik börjadeundersöka hur olika fenomen kunde ta olika former, som till exempel hur ljus kunde ta bådepartikel- och vågform (2003). Genom att applicera detta perspektiv på hur man uppfattar verklighet och situationer utifrån olika håll ges möjlighet till en bredare bild av hur verklighets-skapande blir till. Vi ville därmed undersöka detta i relation till designprocess och hur verkligheten formas om man ser designprocessen ur dess eget perspektiv istället för designerns,samt hur designern blir formad av processen. Vi har valt att analysera faktorerna tid,informationshantering, process, designperspektiv, Psykofysiologi och medietekniskinstallationskonst. Vi har även valt att studera Chions (1994) begrepp audiovisuella kontraktet,som har varit en grund till vår valda design, genom agentiell realism.Vår design är byggd på intra-aktion, som förklarar mötet mellan olika faktorer som påverkar ensituation (agenser), och audiovisuella kontraktet, som förklarar samspelet mellan ljud, bild ochåskådare, där vi valt att utgå ifrån medieteknisk installationskonst. Med dessa somutgångspunkt skapades en design av en interaktiv Projection mapping, som kan förklaras somen projektion i flera lager, som samspelar med en ljudbild. Vi har under processens gång funnit fler exempel på hur vi som designers och individer harformats och förändrat olika ställningstaganden till både processen och vår verklighet, som viresonerat och diskuterat kring. Valet av vår undersökning är grundat på att ge ännu enkunskapsbas för vad som händer under en designprocess och för att medvetandegöra perspektivsom kan underlätta arbetsflödet. Vad händer egentligen med oss i en designprocess, och hurpåverkas designen?

In this essay, I make a queer feminist analysis of four novels written by the Swedish author Sigge Stark. The novels are: Uggleboet, Manhatareklubben, Cirkus Demonio och Baskerflickan. Using Judith Butler's theories I examine the relations between sex/gender and sexuality in the four books and show how the construction of gender is performed and the heterosexual normativity is jeopardized. I also examine whether, and if so how, Sigge Stark uses the romantic and the gothic genres to include transcending gender identities and sexualities in her work. The essay also includes a contextualisation of her prerequisities as an author and the necessity in performing a critical analysis of mass produced romantic literature.

The hereby presented thesis pursues the occupations of puppeteers, gymnasts, vendors, blade sharpeners and changes of life strategies of itinerant lineages between the late 18th and early 20th Centuries. Above all, the research was anchored at various registers - firstly comprising registry offices, censuses, registers of homestead participants or residence applications. These were supplemented by the then public press, remembrances of contemporaries and other sources. The historical and demographical analyses based upon genealogical outputs were the dominant methodological background, the subject of which primarily became the characteristics of itinerant individuals and their place within society. The author also inquired into their ethnic origins and specific ways of earning one´s living. The pivot of this treatise, nonetheless, was to reveal true historical circumstances having once brought into life a number of widespread clan legends. Neither marriage strategies were omitted as they provided proof of certain behavioural patterns of both the itinerant and settled individuals. Last but not the least, attention was paid to the sojourn and life en route within this roving peripheral community, the presupposed uniqueness of which was fully proved in every respect.
