IoT collection networks raise many optimization problems; in particular because the sensors have limited capacity in energy, processing and memory. In order to improve the performance of the network, we are interested in a contribution related to the optimization of the 3D indoor deployment of nodes using multi-objective mathematics models relying on hybrid meta-heuristics. Therefore, our main objective is to propose hybridizations and modifications of the optimization algorithms to achieve the appropriate 3D positioning of the nodes in the wireless sensor networks with satisfaction of a set of constraints and objectives that are often antagonistic. We propose to focus our contribution on meta-heuristics hybridized and combined with procedures to reduce dimensionality and to incorporate user preferences. These hybridization schemes are all validated by numerical tests. Then, we proposed simulations that are completed by, and confronted with experiments on real testbeds.

The use of historical photographs as source for cultural histor : the Sammy Marks photograph collectionMalan, Andre January 1996 (has links)
During his sojourn on earth man leaves traces behind. Subsequent generations can
follow these traces through research in order to find out more about his forebears. The
term document can be interpreted much wider than referring to written material so that
different types of material can serve as source from which this knowledge can be
drawn. Pictorial sources is one subsection underneath which photographic material in
turn resorts.
This study looks at the use of historical photographs as source from which the cultural
historian can draw information .. Historical photographs are often merely seen and used
as illustration material while they are sources in own right. It is the only source which
captures and eternalises a moment in time visually.
Unfortunately it is still a human with all his faults and deficiencies who stands behind
the camera. That means that although the photograph as source is generally speaking
very reliable and objective, historical criticism still has to be applied. To err is human,
over and above wilful misrepresentation. Furthermore there are certain pitfalls and
limitations inherent to the photograph.
At the Sammy Marks Museum just east of Pretoria, a large collection of photographs
has been preserved which shows the everyday life of the Marks family over a long
period of time. By examining these photographs a clear picture can be formed of the
everyday life of a well-to-do Victorian family in the Transvaal during the period 1890
to 1920. The actual images captured by the camera tell the story of these people's weal
and woe like words cannot do.
No source can be all-revealing .on its own. The photographs and the information drawn
from them, are supported and confirmed by references and quotations from the personal
correspondence of the family of which much has also been preserved. It is kept at the
University of Cape Town. The biography of Sammy Marks by Richard Mendelsohn
(Cape Town, 1991) as well as other literary sources has been studied and applied.
The study also contains a broad background sketch of the period and its spirit. By
making comparisons between the findings about the lives of Sammy Marks and his
family and what is known generally about the people of the time, one can see to what
degree they conformed or differed. The development of photography itself is also.
briefly discussed. The historical photographs which were preserved by the Marks family, serve as
example of how valuable such photographs are for our knowledge and the eventual
reconstruction of the past. Without them the task of the physical restoration of the
house, outbuildings and garden to their original shape would have been much more
difficult. At the same time and even more important, they breathe life into the house
through the information they contain about the people who used to inhabit it. / Dissertation (MA)--University of Pretoria, 1996. / gm2014 / Historical and Heritage Studies / unrestricted

Vybrané řešené úlohy z kvantové mechaniky / Selected Solved Problems in Quantum MechanicsFišerová, Kateřina January 2011 (has links)
The main aim of this thesis was to create a set of problems in Quantum Mechanics, which would be included in a collection of solved problems in Physics available online on the website http://www.fyzikalniulohy.cz. As a result, thirty nine problems were completed, covering seven thematic areas partially of high school and mostly of introductory college Quantum Mechanics course. In general, the collection is mainly designed for college students as an exercise in basic quantum-mechanical problems and also for high school students, who have a desire to deal with some special problems. A detailed description of content, structure, and technical execution of this collection can be found in chapter 1 of this thesis. Another task was to review existing online collections of applets dealing with Quantum Mechanics. A selection of them is introduced in chapter 2 of this thesis.

Me, my Shelf and I : Designing Meaningful Digital CollectionsNordahl, Theo January 2020 (has links)
Personal media collections are becoming increasingly digitised with physical representations of music, film, games and books being replaced by virtual counterparts. Through qualitative fieldwork, this thesis examines the relationship that people have with traditional collections, and therein seeks to outline the aspects of which we find to be meaningful and enjoyable. Furthermore, this project attempts to apply these qualities to the design of digital media collection services. The research reveals that elements pertaining to identity, curation, presence, sharing, preservation and status are key. In addition to the fieldwork, a market analysis of current digital media collection services is carried out and drawn upon in the development of a design concept. The concept is used as a platform to discuss potential solutions addressing the unfavourable characteristics of digital media collections.

A begging permit, a ban or something else? : The construction of mobile poor and begging as a 'problem' in three Swedish municipalitiesSolaki, Eleni January 2020 (has links)
More and more Swedish municipalities are adopting approaches that target ‘vulnerable EU citizens’ and the ‘passive collection of money’. This thesis analyses begging permits, bans, and other approaches, motivated by the positions supported in Eskilstuna, Katrineholm and Norrköping. The approaches analysed are irrespective of the municipalitiesthat implemented them. This thesis follows a ‘problem’ questioning approach, taking into consideration the context and the system under which the ‘problems’ are constructed and aims to find the implicit and explicit aims of the various approaches.

Online Social Lookup: A Study of a Future Employment ToolManalo Cornejo, Darryl, Sabet, Ali January 2015 (has links)
From the days of Antonio Meucci and Alexander Graham Bell when the telephone was invented, people have been looking for ways to communicate with each other through the use of technology. With the introduction of the Internet new possibilities were created to communicate with other persons around the world. As more and more individuals got access to the Internet more and more data got sent through the network. As with any platform where number of individuals keeps growing, business is to be made. Different companies offer different types of services, and many of these companies are niched in services where people in some way interact with each other. Social communities are some of the largest websites that are used and on these websites a lot of data is being shared. Pictures, life stories and interests are shared and this data is something that advertisement companies pay money to obtain. We can see this since a large part of revenues from social communities come from ad companies. Since these websites save data about individuals one could collect this data to sum up how an individual act online. In this thesis, we wanted to see if there was any interest in collecting this type of data to develop a business model where the data of individuals would be sold to a third party, and how individuals feel about this type data collection. To get an understanding of what type of data that can be collected, different companies that gather data were looked into. To get an understanding if this business model is something wanted recruiters of different IT companies were contacted for interviews. Focus groups and surveys were used to see how individuals close to their college graduation feel about data collection and the business model that is under construction. From the data collected, we saw that recruiters were not interested in a business model that gathered personal data, but rather professional data such as education, projects and other job related facts that can prove what the job applicant have done. And from the public we got the response that data collection of this sort is not something that is desirable. With the data collected we saw that our business model did not fit our targeted audience, but rather that a modified business model aimed on professional data rather than social data is something that could be developed.
