A tese teve como objetivo analisar os processos de desenvolvimento e compartilhamento intra-empresarial de competências organizacionais. Foi analisada a relação entre a Telemig Celular e as empresas que com ela compunham, em junho de 2002, a cadeia de valor para provimento de serviços de telefonia celular. O desenvolvimento das competências organizacionais foi analisado à luz da perspectiva de oferta dos serviços de 3G. A Telemig Celular foi analisada por meio de entrevistas e um workshop junto ao corpo gerencial. As demais empresas da cadeia foram abordadas via entrevistas junto às gerências de RH e estratégia. A utilização do modelo de Fransman mostrou que as relações entre as empresas ainda não constituem efetivas parcerias. Os elos mais forte da cadeia – indústria de equipamentos, baseada no domínio tecnológico, e operadoras, baseadas no acesso ao usuário final - têm liderado as decisões mais importantes da cadeia. Observou-se que o desenvolvimento das competências organizacionais é mais estruturado na camada 1, em que há claras regras de desenvolvimento e proteção das competências, além de diretrizes e alocação de recursos para a realização de pesquisas. Também os investimentos em RH são existentes e mais conectados com a estratégia organizacional. Nas demais empresas da cadeia encontraram-se áreas de RH reduzidas, quando existentes, e que adotam práticas e políticas de gestão tradicionais. A pesquisa mostrou que falta às empresas e, principalmente, ao RH uma visão integrada de negócios e cadeia de valor, o que tem levado à subordinação das empresas brasileiras e menores às empresas multinacionais e maiores. / This paper aimed to analyze the processes of development and intra-company sharing of organizational competencies. It looked at the relationship between Telemig Celular company and its counterparts making up the value chain in June 2002 for providing cellular telephone services. The organizational competency development was considered in the light of the 3G-service supply perspective. Telemig Celular was analyzed through interviews and a workshop with its managers. The other companies in the chain were approached through interviews with their strategy and HR managements. By using Fransman's model it was shown that the company relationships are not effective partnerships yet. The strongest links in the chain —equipment industry relying on their technological supremacy, and carriers relying on end user access— have been taking the chain's most important decisions. The development of organizational competencies was observed to be more structured in layer 1, where there are clear development rules and competency protection, as well as guidelines and fund allocation for research. Also, HR investments are present, and they are more connected to organizational strategy. In the rest of the chain companies, the research found small HR areas, if any, adopting traditional management practices and policies. And it showed that companies, mainly their HR, lack an integrated view of business and value chain, which has been leading to the subordination of the Brazilian and smaller companies to the multinational and larger ones.

L'utilisation des TIC dans l'apprentisage du FLE au Soudan : étude de cas à l'université de Nyala au Darfour / Utilisation of ICT in learning french as foreign language in Sudan : case study at university of Nyala in Darfur

L'objectif de cette recherche consiste à postuler les effets de l'intégration des TIC dans l 'apprentissage du FLE au Soudan, à partir d'une étude de cas des étudiants de FLE de l'Université de Nyala (état du Sud Darfour). L'hypothèse principale porte sur l'usage des TIC en classe de FLE soudanaise comme facteur de maîtrise de la langue française et d'initiation à la culture française par une modification du rapport aux savoirs. La méthodologie croisée comprend 1) une enquête qualitative préliminaire auprès d'enseignants sur leurs usages des TIC ; 2) un questionnaire (N = 220 ; population exhaustive des étudiants en FLE de Nyala) ; 3) une étude comparée de pratiques de classes sans/avec usage des TIC (2112 séquences ; classe en semestre 5 ; 90 étudiants). Les résultats montrent que l 'usage des TIC dynamise les interactions et modifie le rapport au savoir, ouvrant des perspectives de démocratisation et de désenclavement du territoire ainsi qu'une opportunité de renouvellement des pratiques professionnelles et étudiantes dans leur dimension interculturelle. / This research aim lays on the impact of the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) during French teaching class in Sudan. This case study focused on the students from Nyala University (South Darfur State). The hypothesis was about the ICT impact on the learning as a vector for the French language mastering and the initiation towards its cultural aspects by the modification of the knowledge relationship. The crossed methodology used 1) a qualitative inquiry interview on teachers about their ICT uses; 2) a survey questionnaire (N=220; all the student population enrolled at Nyala university in the language curriculum); 3) a comparative study on classroom pracTICs with(out) the ITC use (2/ 12 sequences duration; semester 5 level; 90 students). Results showed that the ITC use impacts the interaction dynamics and modifies the rapport to knowledge, opening perspective s for democrati zing and the area as well as renewing the professional and student pracTICs towards crosscultural perspectives.

and keywords This diploma thesis deals on the competence of general assembly in a limited liability company. In the introduction the author made a brief historical summary presenting the previous legislation of the Czech republic. The thesis is divided into four parts. The first part concerns with the general findings on the competence of general assembly including its classification. The second part is special to the first one, since it concerns with particular cases of competencies. This part is the most voluminous one because of its goal to interpret various conditions to take a decision depending on case of competency. In the third part the author made description of the French legislation and compared it to the Czech one. From the previous findings the author made a critical evaluation of contemporary legislation in the fourth part as well as specific suggestion for law-making changes.

The object of the study was emotional intelligence. The subject of the study was the relationship between the level of managerial competencies and the level of emotional intelligence. The master's thesis consists of an introduction, three chapters, conclusion, a list of references (60 sources) and an appendix, which includes the forms of the applied techniques. The volume of the master's thesis is 110 pages, on which are placed 15 figures and 12 tables. The introduction reveals the relevance of the research problem, the development of the problematics, the purpose and objectives of the research are set, the object and the subject of the research are determined, the main hypothesis is formulated, the methods and the empirical base are specified, as well as the stages of the research, the scientific novelty, the theoretical and practical significance of the work. The first chapter includes a review of foreign and domestic literature on the topic of research, the place of emotional intelligence in the system of other types of intelligence, the structure of emotional intelligence and its place in the modern business environment, as well as the model of managerial competencies and their role in the modern business system. Conclusions on chapter 1 represent results on studying of theoretical material. Chapter 2 is devoted to a skilled basic research of emotional intelligence and level of administrative competences at heads of the average and highest level of the chosen enterprise. The short characteristic of the enterprise on the basis of which there took place the research is provided. Techniques of assessment of level of professional competences are considered. The test for emotional intelligence of N. Hall which has been chosen for evaluating level of emotional intelligence is described. The description of the organization of carrying out a research is provided. Conclusions on chapter 2 include the description of relevance of the chosen techniques and their practical importance for assessment of level of emotional intelligence and level of professional competences of administrative board of the chosen company. The chapter 3 is devoted to results of an empirical research. Conclusions by results which have turned out during application of the chosen techniques, such as «Assessment- сenter» method which includes are given: "Test for researches of professional and behavioral and managerial characteristics" of K. Thomas, 2 types of questioning: on satisfaction, on motivation, 2 methods of an interview: the structured interview on competences, motivational, "Progressive matrixes" of J. Raven, 2 the stimulating exercises: discussion 1, discussion 2, assessment method of "360 degrees" and "Test for measurement of emotional intelligence" of N. Hall. Предметом исследование явилась взаимосвязь уровня управленческих компетенций с уровнем эмоционального интеллекта. Магистерская диссертация состоит из введения, трех глав, заключения, списка литературы (60 источников) и приложения, включающего в себя бланки применявшихся методик. Объем магистерской диссертации 110 страниц, на которых размещены 15 рисунков и 12 таблиц. Во введении раскрывается актуальность проблемы исследования, разработанность проблематики, ставятся цель и задачи исследования, определяются объект и предмет исследования, формулируются основная гипотеза, указываются методы и эмпирическая база, а также этапы проведения исследования, научная новизна, теоретическая и практическая значимость работы. Первая глава включает в себя обзор иностранной и отечественной литературы по теме исследования, место эмоционального интеллекта в системе других видов интеллекта, структуру эмоционального интеллекта и его место в современной бизнес среде, а так же модель управленческих компетенций и их роль в современной системе бизнеса. Выводы по первой главе представляют собой итоги по изучению теоретического материала. Вторая глава посвящена опытно-поисковому исследованию эмоционального интеллекта и уровню управленческих компетенций у руководителей среднего и высшего уровня выбранного предприятия. Приведена краткая характеристика предприятия, на базе которого проходило исследование. Рассмотрены методики оценки уровня профессиональных компетенций. Описан тест на эмоциональный интеллект Н.Холла, который был выбран для проведения оценки уровня эмоционального интеллекта. Приведено описание организации проведения исследования. Выводы по второй главе включают в себя описание актуальности выбранных методик и их практической значимости для оценки уровня эмоционального интеллекта и уровня профессиональных компетенций руководящего состава выбранной компании. Третья глава посвящена результатам эмпирического исследования. Выводы по главе 3 включают в себя основные результаты эмпирического исследования. В заключении в обобщенном виде изложены результаты теоретической и эмпирической частей работы, а также выводы по выдвинутой гипотезе, обоснована практическая значимость исследования и описаны возможные перспективы дальнейшей разработки данной проблематики.

The prediction of the academic performance of MBA students by means of specific aptitudes And competencies

Published Article / The Council on Higher Education (CHE) (2004) states that graduation rates across all provider types of MBA qualifications in South Africa are not very high. Various studies have reported that, in order to address poor throughput rates, one of the important aspects that needs to be addressed, is the criteria used to select students. The purpose of this study was to identify valid predictors and measures of the academic performance of MBA students. Multiple regression analysis was used to determine the significance of different competencies and aptitudes in predicting academic success. The sample consisted of 135 MBA students from a South African School of Management. The results show that certain aptitudes and competencies, namely numerical aptitude, personal motivation, verbal aptitude, and resilience, contributed statistically significant to academic success.

Investigating the effectiveness of the leadership development intervention in changing leadership practices in Markham

The study is set out to investigate effectiveness of the leadership development programme in changing leadership practices in Markham, and also determines if the programme graduates implement the knowledge and skills learned. The research design is predominantly qualitative. Data collection was through usage of the MLQ, the unstructured questionnaire and semi-structured interviews. The leadership development intervention was reported to be excellent by most participants, and effective in developing effective leadership competencies. Though positive results were reported about the programme being able to change leadership behaviours in Markham, there are certain areas that can be improved to maximise and optimise the learning of the leaders. Additional learning methodologies may be incorporated or used in conjunction with the Markham Experience, with the purpose of continuously reinforcing the learning, application of knowledge and ensuring that the change at behaviour level is sustained for a long period of time. / Business Management / M.Tech (Human Resource Development)

Identifying multicultural managerial competencies informing the content of a Master's program in International Management

The fabric of the workforce is changing. Indeed, domestic managers are working with an increasingly multicultural workforce at home while managers who travel abroad often work with people from multiple cultures. Concurrently, managers are often required to work with people in organizations that span across geographic boundaries, located in various time zones, relying mainly on information technology. However, empirical guidelines to train managers facing these challenges are scant as management typologies fall short when it comes to identifying the skills needed for simultaneously working with people from multiple cultural backgrounds.The goal of this study was to identify a repertoire of multicultural managerial competencies for work at home and abroad, in face-to-face contexts and via the use of technology. Using competency modeling as a conceptual framework, we enlisted the help of 20 mid- to upper-level managers who were invited to participate in individual behavioral event interviews to discuss positive and negative critical incidents and to answer questions grounded in job analysis. Data was analyzed using thematic (content) analysis based on a mixed method, a process that mostly illustrated the emergence of new competencies. ATLAS.ti was then used to code transcripts and to cross-reference behaviors according to emerging competency categories. Managers were then invited to validate the relevance of the initial version of the typology and to confirm that no competencies or related behaviors were missing.The resulting Multicultural Managerial Competency (MMC) typology, outlining five competence categories that combine 12 competencies along with their 71 corresponding behavioral indicators, makes both theoretical and practical contributions while offering flexibility for application. Indeed, the MMC typology illustrates an overlap between management and intercultural/cross-cultural literature, confirming that managers in multicultural contexts are called upon to invest in the management of trusting relationships, in distance management, as well as in expatriate management. Multicultural elements also permeate classic business and team functions thereby giving management requirements a new form. In terms of practical applications, the MMC typology provides concrete behavioral indicators for managers to use as guidelines for competence and serves to inform the creation of university curricula in international management.

Vanuit die literatuuroorsig word leierskapteoriee, die veranderende konteks van leierskap, leierskapstrategiee en -vaardighede bespreek. Die rasionaal vir topprestasie, visie in topprestasie-organisasies en die beginsels van topprestasie word ook bespreek. Die navorsingsontwerp is 'n beskrywende studie en maak gebruik van 'n gestratifiseerde ewekansige steekproef. Die leierskapvaardigheidsvraelys (Charlton, 1991) is vir die meet van die leierskapvaardighede gebruik en die PA VE-vraelys is gebruik vir die meet van die vlak van topprestasie in die organisasie-eenheid. Die resultate vertoon bemagtiging as die vemaamste voorspeller van topprestasie by die middelvlakbestuurders. Relevante sleutelwoorde is transformerende leierskapvaardighede, topprestasie, bemagtiging en middelvlakbestuurders. / The aim of this research is to determine to what extent perceived leadership competency of the middle level manager in a provincial hospital, is a predictor of peak performance. The literature highlights leadership theories, the changing context of leadership, leadership strategies and competencies. The rationale for peak performance, vision in peak performing organizations and the principles of peak performance are also discussed. The research design is a descriptive study which uses a stratified randomized sample. The leadership competence questionnaire (Charlton, 1991) is used to measure the leadership competencies. The PA VE questionnaire is used to measure the level of peak performance in the organizational unit. The results indicate empowerment as the most prominent predictor of peak performance of middle level managers. Future research may include the role and potential of a shared vision, determination and work satisfaction. Regional and firm level determinants of international competitiveness : an examination of SME's role, capability and competencies

In our increasingly globalised world, supranational regions, nation states and individual country regions are progressively more in competition with one another. How the nation state and region can become more competitive and how this competitiveness can be measured is open to debate. This thesis presents work based upon two aspects that have been proffered as to how competitiveness at the country and region level can be explained, that is through investment (via Foreign Direct Investment (FDI)) inflows and through the development of enterprise and in particular the enhancement of the small firm in international markets. The theme that runs through the thesis is one of competitiveness and competence. The competence of the region to attract FDI and the competence of the entrepreneur and the SME to undertake internationalisation. The thesis begins by examining the concepts of national and regional competitiveness. Two of the determinants of national and regional competitiveness are then considered - FDI and the level of small firm activity/entrepreneurship. The paper analyses the empirical and theoretical work on FDI and considers how regional competencies/factors can be used to attract FDI. SME internationalisation and its impact on regional competitiveness are then examined, focussing on the resources and competences, at the level of the entrepreneur and the firm, which influence SME internationalisation. The thesis contributes to the richness of understanding of the complex relationship between the range of explanatory factors at a regional, national and supra-national level that influence inbound FDI. In particular providing a much better understanding of UK regional FDI inflows. The section on internationalisation of SMEs contributes to the understanding of entrepreneurial and firm competences through the study of small firms at the county level of Northamptonshire. This county is a relatively under-researched area in the study of SMEs and in the study of the county's SME activity in international markets it has been even more sparsely investigated.

Nagrinėjant šį objektą, sprendžiama tyrimo problema – socialinio pedagogo kaip profesijos patarėjo rengimas, kuri konkretizuojama probleminiais klausimais: kokios socialinio pedagogo kaip profesijos patarėjo veiklos charakteristikos ir šiai veiklai būtinos kompetencijos; kokia turėtų būti socialinės pedagogikos studijų programos, skirtos profesijos patarėjo kompetencijoms ugdyti, struktūra, kad būtų užtikrinta sąveika tarp visų studijų programos parametrų ir būtų sudarytos prielaidos rengti specialistą, gebantį teikti profesinio orientavimo paslaugas ir kokie socialinės pedagogikos studijų programos, skirtos profesijos patarėjo kompetencijoms ugdyti, realizavimo veiksniai lemia kompetencijų įgijimą. Tyrimo tikslas – socialinės pedagogikos studijų programos pagrindu teoriškai ir empiriškai pagrįsti profesijos patarėjo kompetencijų ugdymo modelį. Through the analysis of this objective, the main research problem - training of a social educator as a vocational adviser – is considered. It consists of the following problem questions: what are the main operational characteristics and competences of a social educator as a vocational adviser, what should the structure of a social pedagogy study programme aimed at developing competences of a vocational adviser look like in order to ensure the interaction between all the parameters of a study programme and create the conditions for preparation of a specialist able of providing vocational guidance services and which factors of a social pedagogy study programme aimed at developing competences of a vocational adviser determine the acquisition of competences.
