Möjligheter och svårigheter med motivation inom tvångsvården - En kvalitativ studie vid Rällsögården

Sahlin, Lisa, Engström, Madelene, Norman, Josefin January 2012 (has links)
The purpose of custodial care is to break a destructive abuse, to improve the motivation of an addiction treatment by choice and to prevent misusage by long-term and to improve the development of a healthier lifestyle. The purpose of this study was to examine motivational factors at Rällsögården from the perspective of clients and staff. The similarities and differences between the staff and clients opinions about motivational factors were analyzed to examine what eventual impact they could have of Rällsögårdens goal to motivate the clients to an addiction treatment by choice. Prior research within the subject describe the creation of relations in a context of custodial care, the purpose and performance of the law of custodial care and the motivational factors within the custodial care. To fulfill the purpose and to respond to the question formulation the study were examined with a qualitative research method. Semi constructed interviews were used to collect the data. The respondents were three people from the staff of Rällsögården and three clients of Rällsögården. The result of the study shows that relations, organization and internal and external factors are to be seen as motivational factors by the staff as well as the clients of Rällsögården. The result also shows significant differences in both clients and the staff’s opinion of these motivational factors for example what are to be considered motivational for the clients an addiction treatment by choice.

Att lyssna till pappors röster : En kvalitativ studie av pappors upplevelser kring att befinna sig i vårdnadstvist

Andius, Disa, Puskar, Amna January 2011 (has links)
This study highlights the problematic situation fathers encounter when they require help and support in a custodial dispute. Previous research shows the emergence of a new, more involved father. In the light of this earlier research, this study will show a father that is willing to fight for his rights to be a present and engaged parent in the case of a separation from the mother. The aim was to analyze the subjective perceptions of five fathers in custodial dispute. This analysis did not only show how they perceive their role as a father and their masculinity but also the way they feel about the help they got from social services and other institutions. The fathers show feelings of subordination and discrimination of their parenthood compared to the one of the mother’s; as a result of the treatment they got from social services and other institutions.

Det (o)möjliga föräldraskapet : Reproduktion och etablering av en god familjerelation / The (im)possible parenthood : the reproduction and construction of the ideal family

Laine, Anna January 2008 (has links)

This theises focus on how a ideal parentship can be reproduced and established in an organization that is incorporated in the familycourt, provided by the social institution. The organization provides help for parents and children during and after a divorce or separation, the organization also provides help for families where violence has occured or in cases when parent and child doesn´t know one another. When a custodial dispute arise´s and one of the two is granted soul costody of the child, the guardian in most cases is the mother. Therefor this organization mostly handels fathers and their children. The study shows that gender, class and possesing of the right will are the three main aspects that have an effect on who ends up at the organization. This study also shows how the mothers continuously are reproduced as the head guardians, and how the fathers parenthood are subordinated the parenthood of the mothers.

Marginalized African American Grandmothers Raising their School-Aged Grandsons: Perspectives on Parental Involvement

Grant Lott, Felita 01 January 2013 (has links)
Literature suggests strong, positive and mutual relationships between home and school lead to higher levels of success and achievement for students. Schools should begin to focus on being more aware and sensitive to the cultural and social wealth that marginalized families carry. When institutions of learning begin to tap into and embrace the strengths of their families, it is likely to be of mutual benefit for the students, staff and families. Utilizing qualitative research methodology, this study sought to understand African American grandmothers' perspectives on parental involvement, and identify strategies that supported, maintained, and facilitated their involvement in the educational process of the grandsons in their care. In this research study, I specifically sought to address the following questions: * How do African American grandmothers see their involvement in their grandchildren's education? * How have the grandmothers shaped their involvement in the education of the grandchildren under their care? What influenced their involvement? * What are their perspectives on the level of involvement in the education of the grandchildren under their care? * What do African American grandmothers see as barriers and opportunities as they try to guide their grandchildren through formal schooling? The cultural capital theoretical framework helped to understand and interpret the experiences of the African American grandmothers in this study raising their grandsons. The framework also helped to understand how each grandmother constructed and perceived their roles as grandmothers. In terms of support for the theory, the findings collected through interviews revealed that despite past oppressive conditions, barriers and cultural incongruence associated with schools, the grandmothers stayed abreast of and connected to school norms and practices for the benefit of their grandsons. Although each grandmother displayed a combination of capitals and wealth, aspirational wealth, resonated across each capital. Major themes of the study included: Grandmothers: Mothering and Leading by Example; Family and Communal Support: "It Takes a Village;" Grandmothers Engaging in Traditional Parental Involvement Activities; Grandmothers-Grandsons as Co-learners; and Grandmothers' Critique and Advice for Schools. Implications for future research includes creating supportive and caring school environments, ensuring that school leaders and staff display welcoming behaviors and demonstrate support in parental involvement programs, and school leaders and teachers having and maintaining high expectations. Understanding how African American grandmothers and other family members, construct, perceive and enact certain cultural wealth and social capital should become more prevalent in scholarly work and research. Parents of different races and culture favor different forms of involvement. Implications from this research study suggest that educators and school leaders must begin to acknowledge, address, and value the cultural differences and social wealth that African American grandmothers and family members possess.

Muitinės ir kitų pareigūnų socialinės garantijos: praktika ir pokyčiai (lyginamoji analizė) / The social guarantees of the customs and other officers: practice and changes (comaparative analysis)

Gaikovas, Artūras 09 January 2007 (has links)
Dėl to sumažėjo muitinės pareigūnų tarnybos Lietuvos muitinėje motyvacija. Išnagrinėtų teisinių bazių bei atlikto sociologinio tyrimo (skirto muitinės bei krašto apsaugos sistemos pareigūnų požiūriui į socialinių garantijų taikymą) pagrindu, daroma išvada, kad muitinės pareigūnams suteikiamos nepakankamos socialinės garantijos. / The thesis and the main definitions are laid in the summary. It is described, what questions the author researches in the thesis, what kinds of the social guarantees of the service officers are compared, what the author’s attitude is. The purport of the social guarantees, their problems and the result of their practice are laid. The general purport of the social guarantees – it is the system of means that helps citizens to vouchsafe their rights and liberty. Variety of the individuals allows researching the social guarantees in different dimensions. In the thesis the types and the juristic base of the social guarantees of the customs and military officers are compared. The influence of the social guarantees upon officers’ private life and welfare is also researched. It is observed that the social guarantees and their juristic base of customs service officers are not properly regulated and adjusted to the country volatile economic index. Therefore, the motivation of the customs service officers has fallen down. Under the basement of the researched juristic bases and accomplished sociological analysis (which was to research and to get to know the opinion of customs service and military officers about applied social guarantees), the conclusion is that provided social guarantees of customs service officers are imperfect.

Phenomenological Studies on Composite Higgs Models

El Faham, Hesham January 2018 (has links)
Composite Higgs Models (CHMs) are formulated in terms of strongly coupled theories. They often predict fermionic top partners with a mass around the TeV scale. Going beyond minimality enriches the spectrum of the theory with additional hypothetical scalars that significantly change the phenomenology. In this thesis, we explore an SO(6)/SO(5) CHM with an additional pseudo-scalar custodial singlet. The latter has anomalous couplings to the Standard Model vector bosons. We study the phenomenology of the singlet, including bounds from the available ATLAS and CMS searches in the relevant channels with di-boson and fermionic final states. We used HiggsBounds tool to test the model theoretical predictions against the current exclusion limits. The study is performed at the 8 and 13 TeV experiments at the LHC. We present a model parameter space from which the bounds on the (most sensitive) signal cross sections of the hypothetical singlet can be easily extracted.

Nutrition-related practices and attitudes of Kansas skipped-generation caregivers and their grandchildren

Murray, Bethany Joann January 1900 (has links)
Master of Science / Department of Human Nutrition / Mary L. Higgins / Purpose: Skipped-generation households are increasing both nationally and in Kansas. This qualitative study explored the nutrition-related practices and attitudes of Kansas older skipped-generation caregivers and the children under their care. Design and Methods: Twenty-three Kansas caregivers representing 19 households were interviewed about a range of topics using a semi-structured approach. Interview transcriptions were content analyzed. Results: Nutrition-related practices and attitudes changed over time. Compared to when they were parenting the first time, skipped-generation caregivers reported that they are more nutrition and food safety conscious and have shifted in their parenting style. Their grandchildren appeared to be adversely affected by an on-the-go lifestyle and the use of more electronics. Caregiver sources of child feeding advice are based mostly on tradition. Caregivers believed that nutrition and safe food handling are important; they held beliefs that nutritious food is expensive; and most did not believe they would use population-specific nutrition education materials. The preferred distribution of nutrition education materials was through grandparent support groups. Implications: Research was exploratory in nature with a limited sample size. This population could benefit from education incorporating topics on infant, child, adolescent, and sports nutrition; healthful recipes and snack ideas; quick and inexpensive healthful meals that are low in fat, sugar, and salt; healthful fast food and packaged food options; the importance of checking the internal temperatures of meat when cooking; ways to feed "picky eaters;" benefits of eating together as a family; tips to limit children's sedentary time; and intergenerational gardening and cooking.

Young African American Men's Conception of Fatherhood Among Survivors of Childhood Abuse

Carter, Ohan Patricia 01 January 2020 (has links)
Male survivors of abuse who become fathers themselves face challenges different from female survivors, such as conceptualizing their roles as providers and heads of households after the traumatic and often belittling experiences of abuse. However, very few researchers have studied the connection between child abuse and fatherhood, and none specific to young African American fathers. An interpretative phenomenological approach enabled exploration of how African American fathers who were abused as children, conceptualized and perceived their own experiences with fatherhood. The theoretical framework for this study was identity theory, which indicates that how people conceptualize a social role influences their actions in that role. Research questions centered on how young African American fathers, who were abused as children, conceptualized fatherhood and carried out their roles as fathers. Data collected from 11 young African American fathers came through in-depth, semistructured interviews. Key findings showed participants conceptualized fatherhood as being present for, providing for, and protecting their children. These fathers worked to break the cycle of abuse they had experienced and to show support for their children. Implications to promote social change include use of study findings to develop parenting programs that address childhood trauma. Other benefits may come from developing groups for father with children in the foster care system, helping these men to understand why they parent the way they do and to break the destructive cycle of parenting they had experienced. Findings may also contribute to the establishment of fatherhood programs that match fathers with supportive role models who help in navigating the father role.
