Neukonzeption und Implementierung einer Newsletterkomponente für das Content Management System Joomla 1.5.x

Butschke, Mandy 28 March 2010 (has links) (PDF)
The paradoxical exemplar : the image of Saladin in Don Juan Manuel's El conde lucanor

Atmaca, Delia Avila 22 February 2012 (has links)
Don Juan Manuel’s laudatory portrayal of Saladin, the Muslim Sultan of Babylon, in Exempla 25 and 50 of El Conde Lucanor presents an interesting paradox, particularly when considering that the fourteenth-century text was intended as moral instruction for a Christian audience. This report addresses this paradox by determining Saladin’s placement within Juan Manuel’s moral and spiritual philosophy through textual and comparative character analyses. The first section applies Victor Turner’s social drama theory in a textual analysis of Exempla 25 and 50 to establish Juan Manuel’s representation of Saladin as a triumphant figure, capable of meeting and overcoming challenges to his honor and virtue. The second section applies M. M. Bakhtin’s concept of dialogism to engage in a closer examination of Saladin’s “voice” in relation to other characters of Juan Manuel’s exempla for the purpose of revealing the ambiguities and finer intricacies of Saladin’s character. These analyses serve to raise and address paradoxical questions relating to Juan Manuel’s presentation of Saladin as both a Muslim adversary and friend of Christendom. / text

Shear Behaviour of Precast/Prestressed Hollow-Core Slabs

Celal, Mahmut Sami 12 January 2012 (has links)
Shear strength of precast/prestressed hollow-core (PHC) slabs subjected to concentrated or line loads, especially near supports, may be critical and usually is the governing criteria in the design. This study presents the second phase of a research program, undergoing at the University of Manitoba, to calibrate the shear equations in the Canadian code for predicting the shear capacity of PHC slabs. This phase includes both experimental and numerical investigations using a finite element analysis (FEA) software package. The length of bearing, void shape and size, level of prestressing and shear span-to-depth ratio were investigated. The experimental results were compared to the predictions of the Canadian, American and European codes. It was concluded that the Canadian code is unduly conservative. However, the special European code for PHC slabs resulted in better and more consistent predictions. The FEA suggested that the adequate prestressing reinforcement ratio to obtain highest shear capacity ranges between 0.7% and 1.1%.

Motivated by this requirement, a framework for developing and executing adaptive context aware applications is proposed. The PACCA framework employs aspect-oriented techniques to modularize the adaptive behavior and to keep apart the application logic from this behavior. PACCA uses abstract aspect concept to provide flexibility by addition of new adaptive concerns that extend the abstract aspect. Furthermore, PACCA has a default aspect model that considers habitual adaptive concerns in ubiquitous applications. It exploits the synergy between aspect-orientation and dynamic composition to achieve context-aware adaptation, guided by predefined policies and aim to allow software modules on demand load making possible better use of mobile devices and yours limited resources. A Development Process for the ubiquitous applications conception is also proposed and presents a set of activities that guide adaptive context-aware developer. Finally, a quantitative study evaluates the approach based on aspects and dynamic composition for the construction of ubiquitous applications based in metrics / Aplica??es para a computa??o ub?qua operam em ambientes onde a disponibilidade de recursos muda significativamente durante a sua opera??o. No. of bitstreams: 1 MarcioCSM_TESE.pdf: 957118 bytes, checksum: 7c10d815ada900ecb0efde8936a6064e (MD5) Previous issue date: 2011-07-29 / The growing concern with the solid residues management, observed in the last decade, due to its huge amount and impact, has motivated the search for recycling processes, where these residues can be reprocessed to generate new products, enlarging the cycle of materials and energy which are present. Among the polymeric residues, there is poly (ethylene terephthalate) (PET). PET is used in food packaging, preferably in the bottling of carbonated beverages. The reintegration of post-consumer PET in half can be considered a productive action mitigation of environmental impacts caused by these wastes and it is done through the preparation of several different products at the origin, i.e. food packaging, with recycling rates increasing to each year. This work focused on the development and characterization mechanical, thermal, thermo-mechanical, dynamic mechanical thermal and morphology of the pure recycled PET and recycled PET composites with glass flakes in the weight fraction of 5%, 10% and 20% processed in a single screw extruder, using the following analytical techniques: thermogravimetry (TG), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), tensile, Izod impact, Rockwell hardness, Vicat softening temperature, melt flow rate, burn rate, dynamic mechanical thermal analysis (DMTA) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The results of thermal analysis and mechanical properties leading to a positive evaluation, because in the thermograms the addition of glass flakes showed increasing behavior in the initial temperatures of thermal decomposition and melting crystalline, Furthermore was observed growing behavior in the mechanical performance of polymer composites, whose morphological structure was observed by SEM, verifying a good distribution of glass flakes, showing difference orientation in the center and in the surface layer of test body of composites with 10 and 20% of glass flakes. The results of DMTA Tg values of the composites obtained from the peak of tan ? showed little reductions due to poor interfacial adhesion between PET and recycled glass flakes.

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is characterized by chronic persistent airflow obstruction. Studies evaluating the use of whole body vibration (WBV) in patients with COPD have shown improvement in clinical-functional parameters, however, knowledge about the acute effect of WBV in COPD is still scarce. The objective of this study was to characterize the intensity (static or dynamic) during an exercise session, as well as to evaluate the acute effect of exercise on cardiorespiratory and inflammatory responses in COPD. The study volunteers were matched for gender, age, BMI and were divided into 2 groups: control group (GC, n = 13), composed of subjects without COPD and COPD group (COPD, n = 13). Familiarization with WBV exercise and the application of the 6-minute Walk Test were performed in one day, after 1 week, the characterization of the WBV exercise was performed in 4 days with a 48-hour interval between sessions. Static squatting was performed at frequencies 30, 35 and 40 Hz and dynamic squatting at 35 Hz frequency. Both groups underwent the same experimental conditions. Cardiorespiratory parameters were measured during all exercise days and inflammatory parameters were evaluated during static exercise at the 35 Hz frequency through the plasma concentration of adiponectin, resistin, IL-6, IL-8, IL-10, BDNF and soluble TNF receptors (STNFR-1 and STNFR-2). The results showed that static squatting promoted greater variation (39.2%) in HR when compared to dynamic. The analysis of 3 frequencies of WBV showed similar results between the groups with significant increases in VO2 (GC: 27.4 to 40% and COPD: 21.5 to 28.5%) and HR (CG: 10.2 a 12.5% e COPD: 4.3 a 12.7%). Baseline concentrations of adipokines and IL-8 showed higher values, in the other hand low IL-10 values were found in the COPD group. After WBV, an increase in IL-10 concentrations (40.6%) was observed in the COPD group reaching values similar to basal GC concentration. In conclusion, the present study provides subsidies for the elaboration of training protocols with WBV, since exercise was characterized as low intensity (<2 METs) in the frequencies evaluated, being applicable and safe in COPD. In addition, VCI appears to modulate IL-10 concentrations in the COPD population evaluated.

Naguib Mahfouz and modern Islamic identity

Afridi, Mehnaz Mona 11 1900 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to present an analysis of Naguib Mahfouz’s writings in relationship to modern Islam, changes in Egyptian Islam, the impact of colonialism, and modern Muslim Identity. The divergent effects and results of transformations in Egypt are analyzed through history, literature, and religion using theoretical religious, psychological, historical, and social world views. Selected writings of Naguib Mahfouz are used as the central body of literature. Naguib Mahfouz’s writings provide a plethora of divergent views on Egypt, Islam, and the emerging new Muslim Identity. Mahfouz’s writings centralize the many dilemmas that Muslims face today in light of modernity, western influences, and a transforming Islam. In this study there were some conclusions drawn about modern Islam and literature that discuss modern Islam as reflected in Mahfouz’s literary portrayals of ordinary Muslims living in Cairo and Alexandria oscillating between their native Eastern culture and Western colonial influences, as well as the existential and spiritual questions that accompany change for modern Muslims. / Religious Studies / D. The recent theories about exercise s intensity regulation have highlighted the role played by psychophysics aspects in controlling exercise s intensity. In this regard, recent evidences have shown that there is variability in human capacity in perceiving interoceptives clues. Thus, subjects more sensitive show higher physiological arousal to physical and/or emotional stress, and sensations with higher intensity. In fact, studies have evidenced that interoceptive feedback modifies behavior in exercise with free load. However, exercise recommendations are based in a constant load standard. Therefore, we aimed to analyze the influence of interoceptive sensibility on psychophysics responses during dynamic exercise performed with constant load. Twenty-four adult males were allocated into two groups accordingly with their interoceptive sensibility: high sensibility (n=11) and low sensibility (13). They underwent to an incremental test (IT) and then randomly to two sections of moderate and severe exercise intensity for 20 minutes. Heart rate (HR), rating of perceived exertion (RPE), affective feelings (AF), alert state (AS), and percentage of associative thoughts were collect during exercise. A two-way ANOVA with repeated measures was used to assess differences between psychophysics responses. There were differences between group in RPE, AF, and AS in moderate intensity. There was no difference in any measure in severe intensity. We conclude that subjects with high interoceptive sensibility feel dynamic moderate exercise more intense than the subjecs with low interoceptive sensibility / INTRODU??O: O complexo comportamento humano de realizar exerc?cio f?sico envolve processamento cognitivo, f?sico e emocional.

Many complex systems, such as microbial colonies, colloidal aggregates, difusion of fluids, and migration of populations, involve a large number of similar units that form fractal structures. A new model of difusive agregation was proposed recently by Filoche and Sapoval [68]. Based on their work, we develop a model called Difusion with Aggregation and Spontaneous Reorganization . This model consists of a set of particles with excluded volume interactions, which perform random walks on a square lattice. Initially, the lattice is occupied with a density p = N/L2 of particles occupying distinct, randomly chosen positions. One of the particles is selected at random as the active particle. This particle executes a random walk until it visits a site occupied by another particle, j. When this happens, the active particle is rejected back to its previous position (neighboring particle j), and a new active particle is selected at random from the set of N particles. Following an initial transient, the system attains a stationary regime. In this work we study the stationary regime, focusing on scaling properties of the particle distribution, as characterized by the pair correlation function ?(r). The latter is calculated by averaging over a long sequence of configurations generated in the stationary regime, using systems of size 50, 75, 100, 150, . . . , 700. The pair correlation function exhibits distinct behaviors in three diferent density ranges, which we term subcritical, critical, and supercritical. We show that in the subcritical regime, the particle distribution is characterized by a fractal dimension. We also analyze the decay of temporal correlations / Na Natureza ? muito comum ocorrerem processos de difus?o.
