Considerations on Technical Sketch Generation from 3D Scanned Cultural Heritage

Hörr, Christian, Lindinger, Elisabeth, Brunnett, Guido 14 September 2009 (has links)
Drawing sketches is certainly one of the most important but at the same time elaborate parts of archaeological work. Currently, 3D scanning technology is affording a number of new applications, and only one of them is using virtual copies instead of the originals as the basis for documentation. Our major contribution are methods for automatically generating stylized images from 3D models. These are not only intuitive and easy to read but also more objective and accurate than traditional drawings. Besides some other useful tools we show several examples from our daily work proving that the system accelerates the whole documentation process considerably.

Byggkonstruktion i förskolan. / Building construction in preschool. : A study looking at 4-5 year olds interest and prior knowledge to building construction.

Neale, Jeanette January 2014 (has links)
This study aims to look at how children approach building instructions compared to free building in a playful group environment. Researchers have found age differences, between how young children learn technical subjects. Other studies show that there are differences between the number of men and women in technical professions and also between men and women’s approach to the technical subjects. This study seeks discover if and how four and five year olds voluntarily use, follow, and complete a building exercise using instructional drawings. The study paid close attention to if girls and boys had different approaches to building; how does the children’s own interests affect the process of building? If children aged four and five years are capable of following building instructions. The results of this study to some extent support earlier research that there is a gender difference already at four to five years of age, but the question still remains why this difference exists. As well as the gender difference, there was also a strong result showing a difference in building knowledge between the four year olds and the five year olds. The four year olds mainly explored the building material whereas many of the five year olds could successfully follow the building instructions.

The psychological effects of art therapy on children who have experienced traumatic grief

Carew, Sandra Ann 30 November 2004 (has links)
This thesis investigates the literature on trauma and grief in order to explore the existence of the phenomenon of traumatic grief in children. Appropriate therapies are explored for treating traumatic grief in children. The focus in this research is on non-directive art therapy as the literature has found it to be useful in traumatic circumstances. The therapeutic relationship and the focus on containment are valuable in addressing the primary need of the child in therapy especially when traumatic grief is to be addressed. A qualitative case study approach was chosen. Two case studies were selected to investigate the phenomenon of traumatic grief in children. Purposeful sampling was used to select the cases to observe the phenomenon of traumatic grief. The case studies included pre-therapy and post-therapy assessments, which included cognitive, emotional and behavioural assessments. Art therapy was found to address the problems in the two cases. / Educational Studies / M.Ed.

Vývoj dětské kresby a její možnosti v diagnostice / The development of child drawing and it is potential in diagnostisc

THONOVÁ, Zuzana January 2016 (has links)
The Development of child drawing and it is potential in diagnostics The theoretical part of my thesis deals with the development of children's drawing and its subsequent interpretations. The drawing is defined in the thesis together with its development, patterns and peculiarities. The thesis is based on findings from the specialised literature that characterize children's development and its origins in the artwork and school age. Emphasis is also placed on tests to evaluate school readiness, child's overall development and psychological condition. The contribution of the teaching profession at primary school is maximized. The practical part includes the analysis of children's drawings normal and enchanted family, human character and favorite activities or interests in terms of pedagogical-psychological diagnosis. The drawings are complemented by other methods, such as interview, observation of the child and questionnaires for parents and teachers used to approach family background and medical history of the child.

Esta tese demonstra, portanto, como a Catedral de Campinas foi projetada dentro de preceptivas clássicas com diversas autorias, períodos e vertentes teóricas, tendo como resultado um todo único, híbrido, erudito, recriativo, exemplar, contrariando a historiografia vigente de que a arquitetura do século XIX no Brasil é uma "cópia de modelos importados" / Abstract: The present thesis studies the architecture language of the main façade and the main retable of Nossa Senhora da Conceição Cathedral, in the city of Campinas. Starting from the compilation of metric survey processes, as well as instrumental drawings pertaining to the formation period, this work provides a reconstitution of the classical tendency of such building, investigating it as a historical source and document through its material testimony, rendering the Cathedral into a paradigm of the city classical architecture within a Brazilian context. The present thesis demonstrates therefore how the Cathedral of Campinas has been designed within classical precepts, by different authors, under different periods and theoretical trends, resulting in a unique, hybrid, scholarly, re-creative, exemplary whole, and contradicting the current historiography, which considers the XIX century architecture in Brazil as a "copy of imported standards" / Doutorado / Politica, Memoria e Cidade / Doutor em História

In Teplitz and around the world. The Clary-Aldringen : a bohemian princely House in the Habsburg monarchy at the time of revolutions

Magne, Matthieu 20 October 2017 (has links)
At the turn of the 19th century, Teplitz was a well-known spa at the border between North Bohemia and Saxony. It was also part of the seignorial estates of the Clary-Aldringen family who had been promoted to Princely House in 1767. The first Princes of Clary- Aldringen led an aristocratic way of life in their palaces in Vienna and Prague and in their castle in Teplitz. The letters and diaries written by Charles Joseph of Clary-Aldringen provide essential information to understand how this aristocratic family faced the challenges of the revolutions and restorations in Central Europe. Those were unstable times when political and social powers became questioned while new nations were emerging in central Europe. What is at stake then in their lives when the revolutionary upheavals unbalance the dynastic order in Europe? This research aims to analyse how this princely House managed to face the transformations in aristocratic culture at the end of the Holy Roman Empire and in the first decades of the Austrian empire. Indeed the Clary-Aldringen left a hoard of visual documents also with financial and administrative records, all showing the striking features of the “First Society” in the Habsburg monarchy. The archives lead us back to a period when amateur theatre, paintings and writings were given pride of place. The exceptional variety of the documents found allows us to better apprehend how the aristocrats of the Habsburg monarchy conceived their roles and their legitimacy in Europe during the period of revolutions and just before the Spring of the Peoples. One decisive key lies in the fact that this family kept travelling over Europe after 1792.
