O trabalho do ator com as emoções : uma referência concreta / El trabajo del actor con las emociones : una referencia concreta

Campos, Esteban Javier Álvarez, 1982- 28 August 2018 (has links)
Orientador: Verônica Fabrini Machado de Almeida / Dissertação (mestrado) - Universidade Estadual de Campinas, Instituto de Artes / Made available in DSpace on 2018-08-28T13:52:41Z (GMT). This research intends to present a positive view of emotions, from scientific discoveries made in the field of neuroplasticity and from the ideas about body, mind and emotion, proposed by neuroscientist António Damásio, aiming to demystify the Cartesian notion that presupposes a radical separation between reason and emotion. The following investigation seeks to raise a little explored discussion about the actor's work and training with emotions, proposing both biological and concrete approaches, situating emotions in a more "accesible" way for the actor, using the actor's body as a reference. In the first chapter, we seek to deepen and organize the confused perception we have of emotions, classifying them according to the evolutionary view and pointing out the important difference between emotion and feeling. To establish a historical reference about the actor's work with emotions, the second chapter highlights the diverse styles and perspectives that the actors have used to work with the expression and performance of emotions, from the origins of Western theater until today. Envisioning a possible solution before the problematic actor¿s dilemma, which means the actor¿s decision to be envolved, or not, on the character-emotions, in the third chapter, the methodology of emotional induction Alba Emoting¿, developed by the Chilean psychologist Susana Bloch, will be presented / Mestrado / Artes da Cena / Mestre em Artes da Cena

Wargert, Philip, Staar, Elise January 2021 (has links)

EX-GAY MOVEMENT NARRATIVES AND THE IDENTITY WORK OF ACTIVE, FORMER AND MARGINALIZED PARTICIPANTS

Creek, SJ 01 August 2011 (has links)
The ex-gay movement in the United States has, for the last three decades, argued that there can be "freedom from homosexuality." Available movement narratives shape how individuals struggling with homosexual desires understand their past, present and future. To gain insight into the identity work of people involved in the movement, those who have left and those who exist on the margins, I engaged in collected 31 semi-structured interviews, engaged in participant observation of an ex-gay conference and conducted a narrative analysis of movement narratives. In three journal article style manuscripts, I discuss my findings concerning the narrative identity work of each group.

An Analysis of Canada's Moral Economy of Punishment Through Terri-Lynne McClintic's Transfer to Okimaw Ohci

Minor, Emily 15 November 2021 (has links)
One of the more popular areas of study in recent times is public opinion research, in the context of prisons, punishment, and other penal practices. Some of the most notable Canadian literature on this topic was published during the Harper era government, which further transitioned Canada into an increasingly neoliberal society. The gap that can be identified from this literature is that the relationship between politicians and members of the public is the central focus, despite the public not being a monolith of morality, and the obvious reality that there are many social actors who have a stake in punishment and penal practices in Canada. This research analyzed punishment discourses in Canada using the transfer of Terri-Lynne McClintic in 2018 from a medium security penitentiary, to a medium-minimum security Indigenous healing lodge as its case study. Didier Fassin’s moral economy was used to frame this research, combined with a set of three analytical tools; Evelien Tonken’s citizenship regime, Arlie Russel Hochschild’s framing rules and feeling rules, and Jonathan Haidt’s moral emotion families. These concepts were used to make sense of the complex emotions and values that circulate within a moral economy. In order to examine Canada’s moral economy of punishment, 13 news media sources, 4 online comment threads, and 6 Hansard Transcripts were collected and analysed. This research demonstrates how the moral economy of punishment that citizens participate in is actively influenced by neoliberal governance and economics.

Language in human interaction

Unknown Date (has links)
"The purpose of this paper is to formulate conclusions which have been reached as of the present time regarding the nature of language, particularly from the standpoint of its practical application to the purposes of social interaction. That there are many possible interpretations of the nature of language is quite obvious. The interpretation here presented is only one of many possible interpretations. Furthermore, consideration of the nature of language in any respect whatsoever has broad possibilities. As a matter of fact, many points which could not be explored within current limitations came to light during the study. These possibilities will be explored as the future permits. This paper, therefore, represents only a beginning. It is exploratory rather than conclusive"--Introduction. / Typescript. / "Aug. 19, 1949." / "Submitted to the Graduate Council of Florida State University in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science under Plan II." / Includes bibliographical references (leaves 226-231).

Emotions and Bureaucracy at the Border : Seeking Asylum at Migrationsverket’s Service Centre

Johansson, Therese January 2019 (has links)
Migrationsverket’s National Service Centre in Sundbyberg is a borderscape displaced from the outer contours of the nation. This borderscape of the interior, perform bordering and difference-making functions in its deciding of who gets to become a citizen, who is to be considered a legitimate refugee and in a sense who you are. Asylum-seekers visiting the Service Centre attempt to make sense of the maze-like bureaucratic organisation they find themselves caught up in. This thesis engages with the materialization and realization of the border, narratives about emotions in the asylum process, and the sensebreaking qualities of the bureaucratic organization of Migrationsverket as a Kafkaesque institution through participatory, narrative and engaged ethnographic methodologies.
