Aesthetic experience & innovation culture : the aesthetic experience in an R&D department through design and for innovation culture / L'expérience esthétique et la culture d'innovation : l'expérience esthétique des concepteurs et l'influence du design pour une culture d'innovation

Ocnarescu, Ioana Cristina 16 October 2013 (has links)
This thesis, conducted at Alcatel-Lucent Bell Labs France under the supervision of LCPI Laboratory and Strate Collège, explores the concept of aesthetic experiences in an R&D department. One of the current interests of design research explores the concept of User eXperience (UX) and provides frameworks and methods to observe, describe and generate a rich product experience. Other recent studies focus on the aesthetic experience in organizations. Using an Action-Research approach, we extend the knowledge on aesthetic experiences through a new perspective: rather than looking at the users' experience, we framework the experience of multidisciplinary R&D teams through a qualitative and quantitative study. Our experimentation field consists of multidisciplinary projects from the Applications Research Domain (APPRD) - the multidisciplinary department of Alcatel-Lucent Bell Labs. We study the most memorable projects - those that trigger aesthetic experiences in the work experience of research-engineers. Our goal is to understand what is the link between aesthetic experience feelings, design practices and aspects of the innovation culture. Finally, we propose a descriptive framework of aesthetic experience in this context and we show first implications to trigger this type of experience in a multidisciplinary R&D department.

Familjemedlemmars erfarenheter av att förlora ett barn i cancer : En litteraturbaserad studie / Family members' experiences of losing a child in cancer : A study based on scientific studies

Thulin, Theresé, Strauss, Julia January 2017 (has links)
Background: Every year 250,000 children worldwide receive the unimaginable diagnosis of cancer. A cancer diagnosis inflicts a major impact on the family situation. They must deal with an entirely, both emotionally and socially new situation they are not prepared for. It is of great importance that the nurse has adequate knowledge to be able to provide the best possible care to the entire family. Aim: The aim of this study was to describe the family members' experiences of losing a child in cancer. Method: A method to contribute to evidence-based nursing with ground in analysis of qualitative research was performed to get a better understanding of families' experiences. An analysis of thirteen qualitative articles was carried out. The analysis resulted in five main themes and sixteen subthemes. Results: The results of the study showed that families losing a child in cancer are having a heart-breaking time. They described combative feelings between hope and despair. The mothers often took care of the sick child at home and the fathers kept their minds busy while working. The families put all their own needs and sorrows aside. The siblings felt lonely since the parents took care of the sick child. After the passing, the family kept a bond to the deceased child through memories and dreams. Conclusion: The families experienced a greater need of support from the nurses and the hospital staff, during the time when the child was sick and after the death.

Towards algorithmic Experience : Redesigning Facebook’s News Feed

Alvarado, Oscar January 2017 (has links)
Algorithms currently have direct implications in our democracies and societies, but they also define mostly all our daily activities as users, defining our decisions and promoting different behaviors. In this context, it is necessary to define and think about how to design the different implications that these algorithms have from a user centered perspective, particularly in social media platforms that have such relevance in our information sources and flow. Therefore, the current thesis provides an introduction to the concept of algorithmic experience, trying to study how to implement it for social media services in cellphone devices. Using a Research through Design methodology supported by interface analysis, document analysis and user design workshops, the present paper provides results grouped in five different areas: algorithmic profiling transparency, algorithmic profiling management, algorithmic awareness, algorithmic user-control and selective algorithmic remembering. These five areas provide a framework capable of promoting requirements and guide the evaluation of algorithmic experience in social media contexts.

Návrh metodiky vývoje softwaru se zaměřením na oblast UX / Proposal of Software Development Methodology with Focus on UX

Mikula, Jan January 2013 (has links)
The main objective of this work is to propose a software development methodology which will reflect both issues -- design of User Experience (UX) and its implementation. The second objective is to compare the current software development methodologies. The third objective is to describe the work environment and the principles of that environment to fully implement this methodology. The fourth objective is to test the methodology in practice and validate its performance on my own startup. The fifth objective is to analyze companies which are focusing on similar product as my startup and their approach to UX development. First I will take look at waterfall methodology and then at modern agile methodologies such as Scrum, Kanban and Lean management, which are now becoming standard in software development. I will describe issues with the integration of UX into software development. The next section will introduce my own methodology, which is based on Scrum. The methodology consists of general principles of Lean and Agile management and the management, which is sometimes called "freedom at work". Then I will use the proposed methodology on my own startup project and will evaluate its use in practice. In last part I will analyze development process with focus on UX in projects Medium and Facebook. Thesis combines knowledge from Lean and agile management, economy and cognitive science to show the way to succeed in today services with great UX.

"Then catastrophe strikes" : lire le désastre dans l’œuvre romanesque et autobiographique de Paul Auster / “Then catastrophe strikes” : reading Disaster in Paul Auster’s Novels and Autobiographies

Deshmukh, Priyanka 01 December 2014 (has links)
Paradoxical in its very definition, disaster is the singular event which ruptures time and space – of narration, of the story, or of history. While disaster is central to Paul Auster’s work, it rarely appears as a theme for writing, or as historical events to recount, to represent. Instead, disaster is central as a narrative strategy deployed in Auster’s texts – as the core notion which underlies all philosophical questioning and tropes present in his writing, as the rhythmic impulse which provokes his writing and maintains its fluidity. The Austerian time is characterized by the disappearance or the stretching of the present in the face of a threatening future, by the contrast between the ordinary and the unlikely, and by recurrence and compulsion – all of which are signs of the disaster. Disaster is etched in space – of the room, of the book, of the body, which are the focal points of Auster’s novels – but may also destroy the very fabric of space, yielding in its wake, narratives of emptiness, nothingness and nowhere. The philosophical experiences of Auster’s characters – losing, dissociating and recomposing themselves, remembering or witnessing – are those of the disaster, and wind up aestheticizing limit-experience. It is through this narratological fertility of disaster that Auster sets himself apart from other American postmodernist writers: instead of merely recounting disaster, of letting it fragment his discourse, he is actively engaged in reconstructing and restitching with the strongest of narrative threads. Auster does not simply write (about) the disaster – he writes through, or in spite of, disaster.
