Jag är inte min psykos : en litteraturstudie om erfarenheter av stigmatisering / I am not my psychosis : a literature study about experiences of stigmatization

Hansson, Johanna, Jacobsson, Lisa January 2019 (has links)
Background: Stigmatization of people with psychosis is a widespread and global issue that has been existing for a long time. While other psychological illnesses are getting less stigmatized, schizophrenia and psychosis tend to be unchanged. Aim: The aim of the study was to illuminate experiences of stigmatizations in people with psychosis. Method: This is a literature study based on qualitative research. Thirteen articles were analyzed according to Friberg's five-step model and resulted in four themes and seven sub-themes. Results: The main theme that emerged was: feeling powerless, experience of exclusion, being treated unfairly, a need to withdraw. The result showed that people with psychosis or schizophrenia experience stigma from different directions which includes family, society and healthcare. Conclusion: Stigma exist everywhere and to prevent stigmatization, more knowledge about the phenomenon is required. Stigmatization gives the person worse conditions in life. The recovery becomes more lengthy and complicated.

January 2008 (has links)
Abstract: Click electronic access below. / Mestre

Att leva med endometrios, en sjukdom som styr livet / To live with endometriosis, a disease that rules the life

Dahlgren, Johanna, Kiesen, Clara January 2016 (has links)
Background: Endometriosis is a disease which, though it impacts one of ten women, has a lack of knowledge in the society and among healthcare professionals. The lack of knowledge causes delays in diagnosis and a lack of comprehension for the women. Aim: The aim of this study was to describe women's experiences of living with endometriosis. Method: The method used in this study was a method to contribute to evidence-based nursing with ground in analysis of qualitative research. Through the similarities and contradictions in the analyzed studies, themes and under-themes were created. Result: Findings showed that the women's experiences often were negative. Friends, family and healthcare professionals normalized the pain and the women often endured the pain in belief that it was normal. The lack of knowledge in endometriosis caused misdiagnosis and diagnostic delays. The endometriosis limited the women's daily living, work and social life by decreasing their activity because of symptoms as pain, nausea, fatigue, heavy bleeding and diarrhea. The disease also affected the women's relationships and the feeling of being a woman. Conclusion: The lack of knowledge in endometriosis caused an unnecessarily suffering among the women with the disease. If the awareness of endometriosis would increase in the society and among healthcare professionals the time for diagnosis and the encounters with patients suffering from endometriosis could improve.

A canção do regresso: relato de uma experiência de doutoramento / The song of the return: report of a doctoral experience

Paulo Renato Minati Panzeri 27 March 2015 (has links)
This work presents reports, reflections and memories of the researcher\'s artistic and personal education. We understood as education not just the activities developed in the formal education, but also the encounters inside and outside of educational institutions. We also understood as education the coexistence with teachers, colleagues, employees, friends and family in the most several spaces along the researcher\'s trajectory. In order to accomplish this task, a place was sought between listening experiences and listening of the experience, to reveal through the scripture the knowledge of the subject of a doctoral experience

Alvelid, Liza, Stenvik, Katarina January 2019 (has links)

The impact and use of patient feedback in general practice : a realist review

Baldie, Deborah January 2014 (has links)
Patient feedback about practitioners’ and practices’ care is commonly used in UK general practice, sometimes by practitioner choice but often embedded in quality assurance and quality improvement programmes. Significant resources in NHS Scotland are spent gathering and reporting on patients’ reported experiences of care using a national GP patient experience survey – Better Together. There is however limited reference in current health policies to strong evidence demonstrating that this is an effective strategy to stimulate improvements in practice and patients’ experiences of care. This research study used realist review of existing literature to understand the impact of patient feedback at practice and practitioner level on patients’ experiences of general practice care, and realist evaluation of three general practices to understand how patient feedback is viewed and used for quality improvement in everyday general practice. Findings from the realist review indicate that there is little or no evidence that practice or practitioner level patient feedback leads to improvements in patients’ experiences of general practice care. The realist evaluation demonstrated great variance in how practice teams gather and respond to patient feedback and significant concerns about the validity of the Better Together survey. Variance in the strategies used to gather feedback and responses to it were predominantly influenced by collective staff beliefs about the quality of service they provided, their estimates of patients’ views of the service and their perceptions of patients’ preferences for providing feedback. While GPs mostly perceived that patients would be likely to tell someone in the practice when dissatisfied, interviews with patients indicated they had little understanding of how they could give feedback and an overall preference for doing this anonymously. One practice team was seen to initiate significant changes aimed at improving patients’ experiences but their ability to demonstrate improvements in experience were limited by changes in their workforce, conflicting externally set targets and methodological limitations of current patient experience measures. Further research is needed to understand how the findings from this study apply to general practice across Scotland and how practices can be best supported to use patient feedback to improve services.

Dual Autonomy: A Culturally Encompassing Reinterpretation of Traditional Autonomy in Clinical Supervision

January 2020 (has links)
abstract: Traditional autonomy within clinical supervision was reinterpreted by incorporating culturally-encompassing autonomy types (individuating and relating autonomy) from the dual autonomy scale. The relations of vertical collectivism and autonomy measures were examined. Lastly, potential moderating effects of vertical collectivism on experience level and autonomy were assessed. The sample consisted of 404 counseling trainees enrolled in graduate programs across the US, aged between 21 and 68. Results from the confirmatory factor analysis supported the proposed two-factor structure of individuating and relating autonomy among counseling trainees for the adapted dual autonomy scale. Results indicated that individuating autonomy was moderately correlated with relating and traditional autonomy, and relating autonomy was not correlated with traditional autonomy. Vertical collectivism was not correlated with relating autonomy, but significantly predicted individuating and traditional autonomy. Moderating effects of vertical collectivism on experience level and autonomy were not supported. Further implications and future directions are discussed. / Dissertation/Thesis / Doctoral Dissertation Counseling Psychology 2020

Understanding the Effect of Animation and its Speed on User Enjoyment

January 2019 (has links)
abstract: Providing the user with good user experience is complex and involves multiple factors. One of the factors that can impact the user experience is animation. Animation can be tricky to get right and needs to be understood by designers. Animations that are too fast might not accomplish anything and having them too slow could slow the user down causing them to get frustrated. This study explores the subject of animation and its speed by trying to answer the following questions – 1) Do people notice whether an animation is present 2) Does animation affect the enjoyment of a transition? and 3) If animation does affect enjoyment, what is the effect of different animation speeds? The study was conducted using 3 prototypes of an application to order bottled water in which the transitions between different brands of bottled water were animated at 0ms, 300ms and 650ms. A survey was conducted to see if the participants were able to spot any difference between the prototypes and if they did, which one they preferred. It was found that most people did not recognize any difference between the prototypes. Even people who recognized a difference between the prototypes did not have any preference of speed. / Dissertation/Thesis / Masters Thesis Human Systems Engineering 2019

Creating and Automatically Grading Annotated Questions

Wood, Alicia Crowder 01 September 2016 (has links)
We have created a question type that allows teachers to easily create questions, helps provide an intuitive user experience for students to take questions, and reduces the time it currently takes teachers to grade and provide feedback to students. This question type, or an "annotated" question, will allow teachers to test students' knowledge in a particular subject area by having students "annotate" or mark text and video sources to answer questions. Through user testing we determined that overall the interface and the implemented system decrease the time it would take a teacher to grade annotated quiz questions. However, there are some limitations based on the way students answered text annotated questions that would require a rewrite of the user interface and system design to decrease the grading time even more for teachers.
