Alla är olika, olika är bra: En litteraturstudie om hur det är att vara förälder till ett barn med Downs syndrom / Everyone is different, different is good: A literature study on what it’s like to be the parent of a child with Down syndrome

Jerenvik, Elise, Westberg, Cajsa January 2022 (has links)
Background: Every year, 110-120 children are born with DS in Sweden. DS is caused by a chromosome disorder, the cause of this is still unclear. Becoming parents to children with DS affects the whole family and brings with it many emotions that are often negative. The child is often in great need of support and help from his parents but also other professions. It is important to involve the parents and see the family as a unit. Method: The method chosen for the degree project is a literature review. Purpose: To investigate parents' experience when they have a child with DS. Results: In the result, four categories were found, it did not turn out as we expected, how information is given is important, need for continuity and acceptance and adaptation. The results show that parents often have negative feelings and that it is difficult to accept their child's diagnosis. The nurse plays a major role in the family's care and it is the nurse's responsibility to provide support and relevant information. Conclusion: Parents' experiences are strongly rooted in their feelings. Negative feelings that then become positive when acceptance and understanding has occurred.

The Influence of Family Moral Supportin the Creation of Small-MediumEnterprises for Female Entrepreneursin Indonesia & Pakistan

Khan, Tanzila, Rusmiati, Titik January 2022 (has links)
Female entrepreneurship plays a significant role in economic growth and innovation within the entrepreneurial ecosystem. However, Female entrepreneurs face challenges that are different from male entrepreneurs. Regarding market access, capacity-building training, and investment, many female entrepreneurs within the Global South face additional challenges of patriarchy, gender stereotyping, and lack of access to opportunities or support from society, friends, and family. In this thesis, a qualitative approach was undertaken to assess the influence of family moral support for female entrepreneurs in creating their businesses by identifying and analyzing their personal experiences and challenges during their business development and growth phase in Indonesia and Pakistan. As a result, female entrepreneurs in these countries need access to business opportunities with family moral support, which helps them break the stigmas and get out of an unsupported environment. With family moral support, female entrepreneurs have proven to excel in developing their entrepreneurial set of skills, especially in the creation phase and maintaining the growth of their Small-Medium Enterprises. However, every privilege of female entrepreneurs still needs to consider that their personal and family backgrounds are different and intersect with other aspects that could lead to success or barriers to creating Small-Medium Enterprises.

Narrativas de um trabalho em saúde na atenção básica: território, NASF e produção do cuidado / Narratives of healthcare work in Primary Health Care: territory, NASF and production of care

Alaion, Allana Rodrigues 15 December 2017 (has links)
In the construction of the action of a NASF (Family Health Support Center), recently implanted, alongside a USAFA (Family Health Unit) in the territory of Sítio Conceiçãozinha, a neighborhood in the outskirts of Guarujá, a cartographic research on the processes of know-how constitution and the production of care in the day-to-day of the healthcare work was created. In the monitoring of the already existing activities, the discomfort face to the way these Child Mental Health questions were received up to the moment, which showed to be insufficient in the face of what was noticed, produced the need of organizing another way of receiving, and the conversation circle was constituted as a welcoming place for the children and their families, in one-hour biweekly meetings intertwining support to the group of those in charge of the children and to the group of children itself. An activity that has produced changes in the flows of the network, in which Primary Health Care, Mental Health, Social Assistance, Education, the families and the children have come to understand this space and to use it in different ways. The narrative appears in this thesis as a possible strategy to organize the movements of building a care instrument in the territory, which in this case is the conversation circle, as a common action of the NASF professionals, of the USAFA and of the network, indicating the efforts, the estabilished partnerships, the changes in the flows of the network, the competitions, the catches, among other elements. In writing the narratives, visibility was also given to the process of writing itself, which is crossed by powers that dispute the direction of how the experience in this healthcare work is intended to be announced. A continuous exercise of (re)writing that allows for the experience to speak

Physical activity in early adolescent girls : an examination of biological, affective, interpersonal and sociocultural influences

Standiford, Anne Elizabeth 25 September 2013 (has links)
Pediatric overweight is defined as a body mass index (BMI) for age of 85th-95th percentile, and occurs in approximately 33.6% of adolescents 12-19 years of age. Hispanic adolescents are disproportionately at risk for overweight. Excess weight can predispose adolescents to develop diabetes mellitus type 2, coronary artery disease, hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, sleep apnea, osteoporosis, asthma, and certain types of cancer, whereas physical activity can help prevent and treat these diseases. Little is known about the factors that contribute to physical activity in Hispanic adolescent girls. The purpose of this study was to examine and compare the influence of personal characteristics, perceptual influences, interpersonal influences and sociocultural influences on physical activity in White and Hispanic adolescent girls. The theoretical framework for this study was self-designed--the Physical Activity Lifestyle Model. Data for this cross-sectional study was collected from girls age 11-14 who presented to the Children's Wellness Center in Del Valle, TX (N = 121) in the summers of 2011 and 2012. Most participants self-identified as Hispanic (n = 106). Participants completed a survey consisting of a 1-day physical activity recall, a demographic questionnaire, and several validated (primarily Likert-type) questionnaires. Height and weight were measured in the clinic. Data analysis began with descriptive analysis (mean, standard deviation and percentage) of demographic characteristics, dependent and independent variables, then Pearson correlations, and finally multiple linear regression to determine the influence of the independent variables on physical activity. No significant differences were found between ethnic groups on age, grade or school (p > .05). Physical activity was significantly related to body image (r = .189, p < .05), friend social support (r = .279, p < .01), and family social support (r = .401, p < .01). In addition, physical activity significantly predicted BMI percentile (B = -.043, SE = .019, t = -2.249, p = .027), appearance-related media messages (B = .259, SE = .127, t = 2.038, p = .044), pressures to be thin (B = .311, SE = .149, t = 2.082, p = .040), family social support for physical activity (B = .089, SE = .042, t = 2.139, p = .035), body image (B = .367, SE = .123, t = 2.987, p = .004), and physical activity enjoyment (B = .083, SE = .040, t = 2.089, p = .040). When designing an intervention to promote physical activity, health care providers and educators should consider that multiple external factors influence physical activity participation in Hispanic adolescent girls. Healthcare providers should involve parents and siblings in physical activity interventions for overweight adolescent girls. Interventions should be tailored to work with the adolescent girls' physical and social environment. Public health nurses should work with schools and communities to increase physical activity opportunities for adolescent girls in physical education classes, girls' sports, and after-school programs. / text

The Family Health Support Center (NASF) was created with the aim of expanding the actions of the Family Health Strategies (ESF), acting in an interdisciplinary way based primarily on the support of the matrix. However, there is a weakness in the incorporation of this tool in the work process of the ESF and NASF teams of the municipality of Itamarandiba - MG. In this context, the identification of the social representations of Primary Health Care (APS) professionals on health care aimed at understanding the impact of these on the operationalization of the matrix support exercised by the NASF of the municipality in question. For this, this study used the methodological design of case study, with exploratory nature and qualitative approach. For data coverage, we used document analysis, semi-structured interviews and field observation. Two physicians, two nurses, one dental surgeon, one oral health assistant, two community health agents (ACS), two nursing technicians, and the three NASF professionals, comprising a total of thirteen professionals, all belonging to the APS network of the municipality of Itamarandiba. The corpus was first submitted to analysis by the software IRAMUTEQ (Interface of Multidimensional Analyzes of Textes et de Questionnaires), by the method of Classification Hierarchical Descending (CHD), with the objective of verifying word classes and their organization. Subsequently, the corpus was submitted to the thematic - categorial analysis highlighting the themes "Assistance" and "Professional Practices". As results of this study, was verifyed the presence of concepts of PHC assistance both convergent and divergent with SUS guidelines and mini-ministerial PHC regulations, but the data revealed practices that, for the most part, deviated from the health promotion model, thus evidencing, social representations anchored in the biomedical model. In addition, the investigation of the historical and cultural processes of organization of the APS, especially the NASF in Itamarandiba, clarified the context of production of the social representations, allowing the understanding of how much the same favors the permanence of anchored ducts in a model of assistance vertical, with fragmented and isolated practices that hinder the intersectoriality and distance themselves from the understanding of the instrument matrix support. It is noticed the existence of practices based on the model of health promotion, but that need to be strengthened. It is hoped that this work will foster reflections among the professionals of the PHC teams, the coordinators and managers of Itamarandiba, in order to problematize how much the work process and the organization of the actions and health services of the municipality need to be re-evaluated and reconfigured aimed at strengthening PHC. With this, to enable NASF to act in partnership with the ESF teams, under the logic of matrix support and reference teams, aiming at the organization of the municipal health system, and, consequently, improving the quality of life of users.
