Synthesis Of Ferrocenyl Cycloheptadienones

Acikgoz, Canet 01 August 2005 (has links) (PDF)
SYNTHESIS OF FERROCENYL CYCLOHEPTADIENONES A&ccedil / ikg&ouml / z, Canet M.S., Department of Chemistry Supervisor: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Metin Zora August 2005, 85 pages Synthesis of seven-membered ring systems such as cycloheptadienones has attracted a great deal of attention in organic chemistry since they are present in a variety of biologically important molecules. Incorporation of the essential structures of such compounds with a ferrocene moiety instead of an aryl group could provide subtances with enhanced antitumor activities since some ferrocene derivatives have already proved to be active against a number of tumors. To develop a ferrocenyl-substituted seven-membered ring forming reaction, we have investigated the reaction of cyclopropylcarbene-molybdenum complex with ferrocenyl-substituted alkynes. As ferrocenyl-substituted alkyne, ferrocenyl&not / propyne (25B), (2-ferrocenylethynyl)trimethylsilane (25C), 1-ferrocenyl-3-phenylprop-1-yne (25D), 1-ferrocenyl-2-phenylethyne (25E), diferrocenylethyne (25F), ferrocenyl(formyl)acetylene (25G) were synthesized starting from ethynylferrocene (25A). The reaction between cyclopropylcarbene-molybdenum complex and ferrocenyl alkynes produced ferrocenyl-substituted cycloheptadienones 26, hydrolysis product of cycloheptadienones, 27, &amp / #61537 / -hydroxycycloheptadienones 28 and cyclobutenones 29, depending on the substitution pattern of the alkyne moiety. Interestingly, &amp / #61537 / -hydroxycycloheptadienone product 28B was isolated from these types of reactions for the first time. Terminal alkynes, trimethyl- and formyl-substituted alkynes did not produce any expected product, possibly depending on the steric and electronic effects, and/or the polymerization of the alkyne. Proposed mechanism for the formation of cycloheptadienones involves metallacyclobutene formation, electrocyclic ring opening, electrocyclic ring closure, CO insertion, reductive elimination.

Synthesis Of Ferrocenyl Cyclopentenones

Tumay, Tulay Asli 01 August 2005 (has links) (PDF)
ABSTRACT SYNTHESIS OF FERROCENYL CYCLOPENTENONES TUMAY, T&uuml / lay Asli M.S., Department of Chemistry Supervisor: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Metin Zora August 2005, 80 pages Construction of highly functionalized five-membered rings via cycloaddition reaction of cyclopropylcarbene-chromium complex with alkynes has become a very active area of research in recent years by virtue of their presence in antitumour natural products. Also with the finding that ferrocene derivatives are active against various tumours, considerable interest has been devoted to the synthesis of new ferrocene derivatives since properly functionalized ferrocene derivatives could be potential antitumour substances. So, the incorporation of the essential structural features of cyclopentenones with a ferrocene moiety could provide compounds with enhanced antitumour activities. For this purpose, we have investigated the reaction between cyclopropylcarbene-chromium complex and ferrocenyl alkynes. The reaction of cyclopropylcarbene-chromium complex with ferrocenyl alkynes afforded &amp / #945 / -hydroxycyclopentenones in a one-pot process, whereas the same reaction with alkynes gave cyclopentenones as major products. Interestingly, water addition was observed instead of reduction according to the previously proposed mechanism. This is a different result than those in literature. The reaction was regioselective both with terminal ferrocenyl alkynes and internal unsymmetrical ferrocenyl alkynes. The products obtained were those where the sterically larger alkyne substituent, ferrocene, was &amp / #945 / to the carbonyl group.

Síntese e caracterização de complexos organometálicos de Cu(I), Cu(II) e Ni(II) com ferroceno-triazenos e triazenido de Hg(II) com interação Metal-Areno-Pi / Synthesis and characterization of Cu(I), Cu(II) AND Ni(II) organometallic complexes with ferrcene-triazenes and Hg(II) triazenido with Metal-Arene-Pi interaction

Paraginski, Vanessa Teixeira Kunz 29 January 2016 (has links)
This Thesis aimed the synthesis of new metal complexes with triazenido ligands and triazenes chains directly linked to ferrocene fragment by a new synthesis methodology. The complex bis-[1,3-bis(2-biphenyl)triazenido-κN1]mercury(II) was synthesized, melting point 222–224 °C and yield 82 %, characterized by IR, UV-Vis, 1H e 13C RMN, elemental analysis, mass spectrometry by ESI(+)TOF, single crystal x-ray diffraction. The triazenes 1,1’-bis[1-phenyl-3(H)triazene]ferrocene (Compound 1) and 1,1’-bis(benzo-1,2,3-triazol-1-phenyltriazene)ferrocene (Compound 6) were synthesized by ferrocene metalation with BuLi and substitution by correspondent azide, with yields higher than 70 %, melting points 151 and 160 °C, respectively, were characterized by UV-Vis (Compound 1), 1H and 13C NMR, elemental analysis, IE-MS (Compound 1) ESI(+)TOF (Compound 6), single crystal x-ray diffraction (Compoound 1), powder x-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and thermogravimetric analysis. Starting from Compound 1 the following heterobimetallic complexes were sinthesized: {[Fe(C5H4NNNH5C6)]2Ni2} (Compound 2), {[Fe(C5H4NNN(H)H5C6)]2Cl2Cu2} (Compound 3 with protonated triazene), {[Fe(C5H4NNNH5C6)]2[Cu(PPh3)2]2} (Compound 4), {[Fe(C5H4NNN(H)H5C6)]2Cu4} (Compound 5). Compounds 6 and 7 didn’t yields suitable single crystals for X-ray diffraction, but based on the MS-ESI(+)TOF and 1H NMR analysis the respective structures based on 1,1’-bis[1-phenyl-3(H)triazene]ferrocene could be predicted. The new triazenes synthesis by methodology under study showed good yields and can be done in two steps. The compounds purification is simple by only extraction with organic solvent and water precipitation followed by filtration enabling the development of further new triazenes including other metallocenes and other azides. Développement d'une stratégie d'adressage sur or par chimie "click" électro-catalysée : application à la détection sans marquage de biomolécules / Addressing strategy on gold by electrocatalyzed « click » chemistry : label-free detection of biomolecules

Ripert, Micaël 06 November 2013 (has links)
This production of microsystem for label-free multi detection of biomolecules is fundamental for the realization of rapid tests dedicated to laboratory diagnosis. A viable method is requires to both address capture probes and to be associates with a sensitive analysis on multiplexed platform. In this study, the method chosen for detection on electrode is cyclic voltammetry, and ferrocene was used to modify stem-loop oligonucleotides. A strategy was developed for the electroadressing of probes on gold surface. It is performed through chemistry “click” between an alkyne and an azide. This reaction may be catalyzed by maintaining the correct potential to the electrode to form an active copper oxidation state on the surface. A first small chemical entity, containing two phosphate dithiol moieties and a hexynyl moiety was synthesized by supported chemistry and grafted on gold electrode. Thereafter, various elements were immobilized by chemistry “click”. Ferrocene derivative carrying an azide function was used to determine the optimal conditions for this chemistry. Then, this method has been exploited for the immobilization of proteins and fluorescent nanoparticles via the formation of biotin/streptavidin complex. Finally, this method allowed to electroaddress stem-loop oligonucleotids, designed as capture probes, modified by ferrocene. DNA hybridization tests were conducted in complex environments with a detection limit determined at 100 fM

Babu, Balaji January 2014 (has links) (PDF)
The present thesis deals with different aspects of the chemistry and photo-biology of various ferrocene-conjugates, their interaction with double helical DNA, DNA photocleavage and photo-enhanced cytotoxicity in visible light, localization and cellular uptake to study the mechanism of cell death. Phenyl analogues of the active complexes have been synthesized and used for comparison in biological assays. Chapter I presents an overview of cancer and its types, various treatments for cancer. A general overview on the Photodynamic Therapy, a new modality of light activated cancer treatment and its various possible mechanism of action, has been made. The promise of photoactivated chemotherapy is discussed with recently developed metal based antitumor agents. Biological applications of few ferrocene conjugates as anticancer and anti-malarial agents are discussed. The objective of the present investigation is also presented in this chapter. Chapter II presents the synthesis, characterization, structure, DNA binding, DNA photocleavage, photocytotoxicity and cellular localization of ferrocene-conjugated dipicolylamine oxovanadium(IV) complexes of curcumin. To explore the role of the ferrocenyl moiety the phenyl analogue of the ferrocenyl complexes is synthesized and used as a control for comparison purpose. Chapter III deals with the photo-induced DNA cleavage and photo-enhanced cytotoxicity of ferrocene-conjugated oxovanadium(IV) complexes of heterocyclic bases. The synthesis, characterization, structural comparisons, DNA binding, DNA photocleavage and photocytotoxic activity in visible light are discussed in detail. Chapter IV describes the synthesis, characterization and structure of ferrocene-conjugated oxovanadium(IV) complexes of acetylacetonate derivatives. The complexes are evaluated for DNA binding, DNA photocleavage and photocytotoxic activity in HeLa, MCF-7, 3T3 cells in visible light. The fluorescent nature of the complexes is used to study the cellular localization of the complexes and the mechanism of cell death induced by the complexes is also discussed. Chapter V presents the photocytotoxic effect of ferrocene-conjugated oxovanadium(IV) complexes of different curcuminoids in HeLa , HepG2 and 3T3 cells. Curcumin based fluorescence has been successfully used to study the cellular uptake and localization behavior of the complexes. The positive role of the ferrocenyl complex is evident from the ~4 fold increase in its photocytotoxicity compared to the phenyl analogue. The apoptotic mode of cell death is evident from nuclear co-staining using Hoechst dye. Chapter VI describes the synthesis, characterization and photochemotherapeutic efficacy of ferrocene conjugates of N-alkyl pyridinium salts. Mitochondria targeting property of ferrocene compound having n-butyltriphenylphosphonium group has been studied by JC-1 assay. FACS analysis showed significant sub G1/G0 phase cell-cycle arrest in cancer cells on visible light treatment. Finally, the summary of the dissertation and conclusions drawn from the present investigations are presented. The references in the text have been indicated as superscript numbers and compiled at the end of each chapter. The complexes presented in this thesis are represented by bold-faced numbers. Crystallographic data of the structurally characterized complexes are given in CIF format in the enclosed CD (Appendix-I). Due acknowledgements have been made wherever the work described is based on the findings of other investigators. Any unintentional omission that might have happened due to oversight or mistake is regretted.

Bouvet, Carola 30 May 2016 (has links)
The present dissertation deals with the synthesis and characterization of chiral, redoxactive room temperature ionic liquids (RTILs) based on ferrocene and the naturally occurring amino acid S-proline. These building blocks are coupled either via an ether- or an ester-bridge. The anion exchange from I– to CF3SO3– and (CF3SO2)2N– salts (abbreviated as NTf2–) is presented. The influence of the anion on the melting point of the compound is investigated and discussed. The redox activity is introduced into the molecule via the Fe II -containing ferrocenyl groups, which can be oxidized reversibly to Fe III . The synthesized compounds based on the pyrrolidine ring are chiral. After quaternization with alkyl halides, they form diastereomers in case of alkyl chains longer than methyl. The ratio of the different diastereomers was analyzed by 1H NMR spectroscopy and, in one case, by Rietveld refinement of the X-ray powder diffraction pattern. The thermal behavior of the compounds was studied by simultaneous thermal analysis and low temperature experiments. The results show the successful synthesis of six new RTILs. One of them is based on iodide ((1S2S)- and (1R2S)-2-[(ferrocenylcarbonyl)oxy]methylene-N-methyl- N-pentylpyrrolidine-1-ium iodide) and six RTILs contain NTf2– as counter ion. The diastereomeric mixture of compounds (1S2S)- and (1R2S)-N-butyl-2-[(ferrocenylcarbonyl)oxy]methylene-N-methylpyrrolidine-1-ium NTf2– exhibits the widest liquid range from -25 to +263 °C and the highest decomposition temperature of all compounds presented herein. Eleven single crystal structure analyses are presented. Three of them belong to compounds FcCH2N(CH3)2(CnH2n+1)I (with Fc = ferrocenyl and n = 1,2,3), then ferrocene monocarboxylic acid chloride, two of ether- as well as five ester-bridged compounds. Microcrystalline samples were characterized by X-ray powder diffractometry. Supplementary analyses by UV/Vis and IR spectroscopy as well as mass spectrometry and elemental analyses have been carried out. An important feature of ferrocene containing compounds is their redox potential which is determined with cyclic voltammetry. The formal potential of the Fe II /Fe III redox couple in the ether-bridged compounds is at +0.05 V and in the ester-bridged compounds independent from the type of anion at +0.28 V vs. ferro- cene/ferrocenium in acetonitrile. The I– anion shows as well redox activity with formal potentials at E(0,f,Fc) = -0.18 V and 0.22 V. The diffusion coefficients of the ester-bridged triflate and NTf2– compounds are in the order of 7·10−6 cm2/s, the heterogeneous rate constants in the order of 0.01 cm/s.

Fabrication of a label-free electrochemical immunosensor using a redox active ferrocenyl dendrimer

Chandra, Sudeshna, Gäbler, Christian, Schliebe, Christian, Lang, Heinrich, Bahadur, Dhirendra 06 March 2017 (has links)
We report an IgG (=immunoglobulin) electrochemical immunosensor using a newly synthesized redox-active ferrocenyl dendrimer of generation 2 (G2Fc) as a voltammetric transducer. The ferrocenyl dendrimer N(CH2CH2C(O)NHCH2CH2NHC(O)Fe(η5-C5H4)(η5-C5H5))(CH2CH2N(CH2CH2C(O)NHCH2CH2NHC(O)Fe(η5-C5H4)(η5-C5H5))2)2 (G2Fc) was used as a functional moiety to immobilize the antibody on the surface of the electrode. A sandwich immunosensor of the type IgG/Bovine serum albumin (BSA)/anti-IgG/G2Fc/glassy carbon electrode (GCE) was fabricated. The electrochemical properties of G2Fc were thoroughly studied in aqueous and non-aqueous electrolytes with varying scan rates. The incubation time was optimized for better analytical performance of the immunosensor. It is found that the developed amperometric immunosensor is sensitive to a concentration of IgG as low as 2 ng mL−1. Solařová, Hana January 2011 (has links)
Title: Phosphinoferrocene amides and hydrazides Author: Hana Solařová Department: Department of Inorganic Chemistry Supervisor: doc. RNDr. Petr Štěpnička, Ph.D. Abstract: While studying functionalized phosphinoferrocene ligands, we recently turned to phosphinoferrocene carboxamides. These donors already proved to be versatile ligands for coordination chemistry and catalysis. This led us to synthesize and study the archetypal representative, 1'-(diphenylphosphino)-1-carbamoylferrocene (5), and the corresponding hydrazide 6. PPh2 COOH Fe Hdpf PPh2 CONH2 Fe 5 PPh2 CONHNH2 Fe 6 This work describes the preparation of primary amide 5 and hydrazide 6 from 1'- (diphenylphosphino)-1-ferrocenecarboxylic acid (Hdpf) via the corresponding acylbenzo- triazole derivative. The hydrazide was alternatively obtained from Hdpf methylester and hydrazine hydrate. Both newly synthesized compounds were characterized by spectroscopic methods (NMR, IR, and MS) and elemental analysis, and their crystal structures were determined by single-crystal X-ray crystallography. The amide was further utilized in the preparation of several palladium complexes, which were characterized in a similar manner including X-ray crystallography. One palladium complex was obtained also from the hydrazide. However, the hydrazide was used mainly as a...
