Pousár, Pauline January 2016 (has links)
Sweden Rock Festival is one of the biggest festivals in Sweden and its focus on rock music in its different forms keeps the audience coming back and keeps the festival going. Time and time again the festival is noticed as being one of the safer festivals based on the amount of reported assaults and reported accidents. The purpose of this paper is to try to find the reason why the Sweden Rock Festival is perceived as safe. Looking at our rules and regulations harassment, violent crimes and sexual predatory behaviour is more common on a city street in daylight than it is at the festival even if some men and women are barely wearing clothes, are intoxicated and at times sleeping alone in the grass in a secluded area. The materials put together show that people choose to co-exist and care for each other to keep the festival safe and welcoming. The paper is based on my own observations at the festival as well as interviews with other visitors, these were conducted in person. I have found statistics from the police and materials written about the festival. I have chosen to use the theory of homophily in some parts of the analysis but I am focusing on performance theories as well as the values and morals aspect to get a full picture of what actually happens when you set foot at the Sweden Rock Festival.

No. of bitstreams: 1 RAQUEL PERES ROCHA.pdf: 2666227 bytes, checksum: 67c072e8adeede5a11eb0903f76b841d (MD5) Previous issue date: 2018-02-08 / This research aims to describe and understand the intangible cultural heritage of the municipality of Itaituba, a city located in the interior of Pará, represented by the festivals of Açaí, Buriti and Pisces Piau and Aracu. It is hoped to collaborate in the strengthening of these patrimony, as well as to understand the historical and cultural construction of the municipality. In dealing with the different knowledge and practices of food preparation, legends, rites and rituals present in these festivals, we seek to obtain subsidies to understand the relationship between the food of the Amazonian peoples and the indigenous culture, as well as the influence of the Northeastern and African cuisine in the Paraense cuisine, and since these have become essential elements to the gastronomic festivals of the Amazon region. Therefore, the study was developed seeking to understand the importance of these festivals for the culture of Itaituba and region as well as its role in preserving and strengthening the identity of the population. The work was based on the qualitative analysis to work with the bibliographic reference, data collected and produced in the field, with the intention of achieving the best results through the interpretation of the information listed in the course of the investigation. It was used the phenomenologicalhermeneutic approach where subject and object are integrated in the world, seeking to rescue the subject and the understanding of things, as a way of approaching the essence of phenomena, for this was carried out the "dense description" of these patrimonies, with the intention to establish a greater understanding of the festivals and the cultural traditions present in them. The foundation was based on concepts related to culture, immaterial cultural heritage, identities, memories, as well as historiographic data of the place studied, which puts it in line with the research line of the Master's Program in History of PUC Goiás, called Identities, Traditions and Territorialities.

Du cultuel au culturel : les mutations du festival des fantômes de Keelung Zhongyuanjie XXe-XXIe siècle / From a folk ceremony to an art festival : transformations of Keelung Zhongyuanjie ghost festival in Taiwan in the 20th-21st century

Yu, Chia-Fang 09 October 2018 (has links)
A festival such as the Keelung Zhongyuanjie Ghost Festival is a religious, aesthetic and communication event that provides functions of transmitting practices, value and symbols, regulating relations between social groups and dissemination of representations. In this special space-time framework, collective life and identities are constantly decomposed and recomposed according to the dynamics that has evolved over time. Meanwhile, individuals play temporary social roles within the clans regardless of their social status, level of wealth, ethnic or provincial origin, and even religious affiliations. In the festival, the social status of the individual is associated with practices of syncretism.Traditional festivals in Taiwan have evolved over the 20th century. At first, a dual social function dominated. On the one hand, it was to ensure a harmonious cohabitation between clans and religion. On the other hand, it was to ensure a peaceful relationship with the souls of the deceased. However, the essence of the religious activity has been transformed with time. Throughout the twentieth century, the festival has been compatibly integrated with a new dominant national culture. At the beginning of the twenty-first century, strengthening Taiwan's cultural identity became a political priority. The authorities promoted a series of festivals, all of which were officially called "Formosa Art Festivals". One of them,“The Keelung Zhongyuanjie Ghost Festival”, has expanded so much from the traditional and folkloric realm that it has become a national art festival. This study discusses the process of the transformation of Keelung Zhongyuanjie Ghost Festival. Some factors, such as the globalization of the economy, the change of technology and the dynamics of public policies, combine to support the change of the original model from a folk ceremony to an art festival. This research not only elaborates the transformations of the festival but also explores the formation of Taiwan's national identity in the twenty-first century.

Carlsson, Ingela, Högsten, Sara, Lundén, Helena January 2013 (has links)
Festival organisations argue that volunteers are indispensable for the festival performance. However, in the summer of 2012, dissatisfaction among the volunteers appears when theyargue that they are working during bad conditions and also are mistreated during thefestivals. The purpose with this study is to provide insight in how volunteer leaders can lead thevolunteers so that they will be satisfied and feel that their work is important for the festival. In this study, it appears that there are different views on the relationship between volunteerleaders and volunteers. Volunteers believe that the volunteer leaders are too busy andtherefore are not able to delegate. Volunteer leaders believes, in turn, that the volunteershave no real interest in working at the festival when they are only looking for a free ticket. The study shows that the volunteer leaders are unaware of their leadership and also theirrole as leaders. Because of the lack of awareness, it displays a sort of unconsciouslyleadership. Volunteer leaders should, in order to reduce volunteers displeasure, understand thevolunteers fundamental driving force to work at the festival; that their work will beappreciated, that they have a commitment to the tasks and that the main motive to work asa volunteer is to be part of a community. This study examines how the temporary volunteer leaders and temporary volunteers viewat leadership during a festival and also the problems and challenges that exist in therelationship between them. This thesis is intended for people who have an interest in thephenomenon of temporary leaders working with temporary volunteers.
