Djurens hälsofrämjande betydelse

Igiosere, Jennifer January 2023 (has links)

What makes a mobile app successful in supporting health behaviour change?

Fitzgerald, Martin, McClelland, Gabrielle T. 27 December 2016 (has links)
Yes / Health promotion apps designed to support and reinforce health behaviours or to reduce risk behaviours are the most commonly downloaded apps. Such technologies have the potential to reach and deliver health care to new populations. But the extent to which they are successful in enabling the adoption of new and desired behaviours can vary. Some apps are more effective than others, some are free to download while others require a nominal or substantial charge. Cost alone is not indicative of quality or effectiveness. This is important because the use of health apps by the public will likely increase, as is the expectation that health care professionals understand this technology and its heuristic role in personalised health. Practitioners therefore need to be better informed regarding what makes a health app appealing to service users and successful as an intervention to facilitate behaviour change. This paper describes and discusses how the structure and content of health care apps can facilitate or inhibit behavioural change. The aim is to support practitioners in the screening and identification of suitable apps for clinical use. Method: Theory and literature review. Conclusion: App content that involved clinician input at the design stage and included internal drivers such as motivation, self-efficacy and illness understanding and external drivers such as illness information, social networking and user compatibility tend to do better in facilitating behaviour change than those that do not. Of these factors, motivation is considered to be the most important.

Chiropractic and public health : a study on the perceptions and attitudes of chiropractors on health promotion and disease prevention in South Africa

Ford, Timothy William 08 April 2014 (has links)
Submitted in partial compliance with the requirements for the Master's Degree in Technology: Chiropractic at the Durban University of Technology, 2013. / Background: Considering the quadruple burden of disease and chronic shortages of health care professionals in South Africa, the stance of the chiropractic profession on public health (PH) matters has not been established. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the attitudes and perceptions of chiropractors practicing in South Africa on PH, health promotion (HP) and disease prevention (DP). The objectives were to determine demographic profile, lifestyle practices and attitudes and perceptions of practicing chiropractors in South Africa regarding PH agencies, HP and DP. Methods: An IRB approved quantitative survey (electronic and postal) was used to collect data from a total sample of practicing chiropractors in South Africa (meeting inclusion criteria). Follow up email and telephone calls were made to encourage response from participants. After a 17 - week period, returned questionnaires were collected and data analysed. Results: A response rate of 45% was obtained. Of the participants, 51.7% were female, 60.3% practiced in upper – middle income communities and 66.4% perceived themselves as neuro - musculoskeletal specialists. Over 90% of practitioners regularly counselled patients on postural habits, injury prevention and ergonomic risk reduction. Where as 35.1% agreed to counselling patients on STI / HIV prevention, tobacco cessation and related risks (41.4%), alcohol abuse (53.4%) and cancer prevention (56.9%). Regarding evidence – based practice (EBP) and PH agencies, 39.1% could not identify the statistical significance of the p value and 46% were unable to provide examples to journals they used to inform best practice. Similarly, 59% of the participants could not identify PH agencies to refer to for information on smoking cessation / risks or PH agencies to refer patients on HIV (57%), notifiable diseases (59%) and terminal illnesses (45%). Conclusion: The results suggest that chiropractors from this study were proficient on topics of DP, but were reletively less proficient in regards to PH, HP and EBP. It was recommended that further research be done regarding EBP within the profession and that greater emphasis be placed on topics of HP and PH in chiropractic training programmes.

The road to a healthier lifestyle : - overweight and obese patients’ experiences

Cecilia, Johansson, Kocevic, Fahira January 2017 (has links)
Some factors that contribute to overweight and obesity are lifestyle related and comprise a lack of physical activity and poor nutrition. Overweight and obese individuals may seek medical attention and acquire advice on how to lose their weight. The purpose of this study was to look into the experiences of the overweight and obese patients pertaining to lifestyle conversations with the district nurse. The study was conducted as an integrative literature overview, which enables a better understanding of a certain phenomenon within medical service. The results consist of sixteen scientific articles. The analysis reveals four categories: the significance of becoming motivated, the significance of one’s own attitude towards conversations about lifestyle, the significance of the district nurse’s communicative skills and the district nurse’s knowledge and competence. The communicative skills of the district nurse played a pivotal role in how the conversations about lifestyle were perceived by the patients. When the district nurse and the patient set individual goals together, the patient appeared more motivated to make a lifestyle change. On the other hand, the motivation of the patient decreased when the advice received was too generalized. Moreover, some patients believed that the district nurse was not adequately knowledgeable to deal with overweight and obesity. The categories correlate with Pender's health-promoting model as an explanation of patients' motivation in changing their lifestyles.

Tell, Kerstin Johanna January 2010 (has links)
Purpose The purpose of the study was to examine different professional’s views and experiences of the collaboration work that is going on between preschool and child health care in the municipality of Karlskrona and what impact it has had for the local cooperation-, their professional development and competence, and how it has affected the work and its content. Method The study had a qualitative approach with focus group interview as method for the data collection. Four focus group interviews were carried out with 21 respondents from child health care centres and preschools in the municipality of Karlskrona. The respondents were represented by six different professions; district nurses, preschool teachers, special education teachers, child minders, department heads and headmasters. Qualitative content analysis was used as a method of analysis. Results: The analysis resulted in one theme and 13 different categories with focus on collaboration, cooperation and common foundations. The theme captures the respondents positive attitude and willingness to cooperate, while they at the same time wished better conditions in terms of enough time and structure and that the staff managers clearly shows that they support and give priority to cooperation. A bridge has started to be built over the gap between the two health promoting settings. Relationships have been created, the different professionals have exchanged experiences and competences, and have learned together. A common foundation that affects the daily work content with children and parents has been evolved. The cooperation has been established at different levels in the geographical areas Conclusion The conclusion is that the collaboration work between child health care and preschool in the municipality of Karlskrona has influenced the development of local cooperation, professional development and competence, the work and its content. The result gave important knowledge of the professionals’ views and experiences of the collaboration process. This knowledge is valuable for further development of sustainable collaboration with the aim to promote children´s health. The study, which is a part of a more extensive follow-up, was focused on the professionals. In further studies it is also important to take in consideration the parents' views and experiences of the cooperation between child health care and preschool.

Members' self-reported opinions regarding a university wellness program

Jones, Kimberly A. January 1997 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to provide quantitative data on members' opinions toward a university health promotion program. A survey research approach was used. A systematic sample of one-half of the Lifestyle Enhancement Center (LeClub) student membership list at Indiana State University was selected to participate in the study. Of the 667 questionnaires mailed, three hundred four subjects completed the questionnaire. The mean age of the subjects was 21 years. One hundred sixty eight subjects (55.5%) strongly agreed that they are receiving their money's worth at LeClub. Current LeClub members felt very strongly or agreed they would recommend LeClub to others (96.7%).T-tests and ANOVA were used to test the hypotheses. No statistically significant difference was found between males and females, among students of varying academic standing, and between new and prior members regarding opinions toward LeClub. A significant difference was found between various levels of participation and opinions regarding a health promotion program (P < 0.01). Those who used the facility the most had the strongest and most positive opinions towards the program. / Department of Physiology and Health Science
