Nyanställdas upplevelse av en digital onboarding-process

Syftet med denna studie var att undersöka upplevelsen av en digital onboarding-process. Studien genomfördes genom en kvalitativ metod där åtta semistrukturerade intervjuer genomfördes med intervjupersoner som hade genomgått en digital onboarding-process under de senaste 24 månaderna. Materialet från datan som insamlades transkriberades och analyserades utifrån Braun & Clarkes (2013) sexstegsmodell för en induktiv tematisk analys. Utifrån analysen hittades tre huvudteman varav ett huvudtema hade två underteman. Första huvudtemat var Att lära sig nya arbetsuppgifter med underteman Tillgänglighet och Kommunikation, andra huvudtemat var Företagskulturen, sista huvudtemat var Sociala kontakter på arbetet. Resultatet i studien visade att det har varit svårt för intervjupersonerna att ta del av alla relevanta delar som ingår i en onboarding-process när de har genomgått den digitalt. Exempelvis har det varit problematiskt att skapa sig en uppfattning om företagskulturen, att lära sig nya arbetsuppgifter samt att lära känna sina nya arbetskollegor på djupet. / The purpose of this study was to investigate the experience of a digital onboarding-process. The study was conducted using a qualitative method where eight semi-structured interviews were conducted with interviewees who had undergone a digital onboarding-process in the last 24 months. The material from the data collected was transcribed and analysed based on Braun & Clarke's (2013) six-step model for an inductive thematic analysis. Based on the analysis, three main themes were found, of which one had two sub-themes. The first main theme was Learning new tasks with subthemes Accessibility and Communication, the second main theme was Business culture, the last main theme was Social contacts at work. The results of the study showed that it has been difficult for the interviewees to learn the relevant and important elements involved in an onboarding-process when they have undergone it digitally. For example, it has been problematic to get an idea of the company culture, to learn new tasks and to get to know their new colleagues in depth.

Tidscerteparti - Om tolkningen av Off-hire klausuler / Time Charters- On the Interpretation of Off-hire Clauses

I denna komparativa studie undersöks hur olika Off-hire klausuler ska tolkas när svensk rätt är tillämplig på ett tidscerteparti. Det kan sägas existera en osäkerhet kring hur Off-hire klausuler, ofta återfunna i anglo-amerikanska avtal, ska tolkas enligt svensk rätt. Osäkerheten är ett resultat av bristande vägledning av rättskällorna. I uppsatsen redogörs för de olika tolkningsmetoder som författaren funnit stöd för i rättsvetenskapen gällande tolkningen av internationella avtal. Vid studien används sedan en tolkningsmetod som lägger stor vikt vid svensk dispositiv reglering och svenska tolkningsprinciper. Genom att undersöka olika anglo-amerikanska avgöranden kommenteras dessa utifrån den fiktiva förutsättningen att svensk rätt tillämpas på fallen. Det konstateras i uppsatsen att svensk rätt i ett flertal av dessa avgöranden har betydelse för utgången i respektive fall vilket inte sällan innebär ett annat utfall i jämförelse med anglo-amerikansk rätt. Det kan förklaras genom att anglo-amerikansk rätt inte har någon lagreglering av Off-hire, parterna får därmed förlita sig helt på avtalet. Svensk rätt skiljer sig därmed från den anglo-amerikanska rätten vad gäller regleringen av Off-hire genom att det existerar dispositiv rätt på området.

Acquisition of investments (new vehicles) is disadvantageous for the company.

В первой главе проводится подробный анализ сложившейся ситуации с поселением и проживанием обучающихся в вузах России и за рубежом. Вопрос рассматривается с точки зрения трех участвующих в данном процессе сторон: высших учебных заведений, студентов и бизнеса. Обозначаются существующие проблемы. Во второй главе сформулированы новые механизмы решения жилищного вопроса обучающихся в вузах России, за счет университетских и частных студенческих общежитий, и выделения нового сегмента рынка – «студенческой» недвижимости. В третьей главе приводятся инвестиционные расчеты, которые наглядно демонстрируют целесообразность выдвинутых решений по организации управления университетскими студенческими общежитиями и созданию частных студенческих общежитий и их применимость на практике. В приложениях приведены соответствующие расчеты. / The structure of the master's thesis includes an introduction, three chapters, a conclusion, a glossary of terms, a list of references and six annexes. The first chapter provides a detailed analysis of the situation with the settlement and residence of students in universities in Russia and abroad. The issue is considered from the point of view of the three parties involved in this process: higher education institutions, students and business. Existing problems are indicated. The second chapter formulates new mechanisms for solving the housing problem of students in Russian universities, due to university and private student dormitories, and the allocation of a new market segment - “student” real estate. The third chapter provides investment calculations that clearly demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed solutions for organizing the management of university student dormitories and the creation of private student dormitories and their applicability in practice. The appendices contain the corresponding calculations.

The out of field phenomenon, that is, educators who teach outside their field of expertise, adds complexity to the education environment. This growing phenomenon in South African schools impacts colleagues, learners, parents, governing bodies and school management. Teaching characteristics that ensure success in classrooms are threatened by the out of field phenomenon. It puts extra strain on school management's responsibility to provide quality management and jeopardises effective teaching and quality learning. This problem was investigated by a literature study and an empirical investigation using a qualitative approach. Data was gathered through semi-structured interviews with selected participants who shared their experiences of the phenomenon. Findings indicated that the existence of the out of field phenomenon should be recognised in order to provide substantial educator support and sufficient staff development programmes. It is recommended that new evidence-informed knowledge about the out of field phenomenon can contribute to improve effective decision making and policy developing in this regard. / Education management / M.Ed.

Investigating climate change intervention strategies in opencast mining contracting and plant hire companies: a case of mutual construction company group of companies, South Africa

Climate change has come to be understood as a deleterious phenomenon, which threatens business, society and ecological systems, thus making it imperative to understand its impact on human, social and economic activities as well as the impact of these activities on climate change. Against this background, this research sought to determine climate change intervention strategies in the mining supply chain in general, specifically focussing on opencast mining contracting and plant hire companies’ practices. This focus on the mining industry was driven by its importance in South Africa and globally, despite its significant direct and indirect contribution to climatic changes. The mixed-methods multiple case study focused on the climate change management of the Mutual Construction Company Group of Companies (MCCGC), an open cast toll mining firm and equipment supplier. Limited to two sites, Pilanesberg Platinum Mines (PPM) and Tharisa Minerals (Tharisa) Mines, the researcher gathered data through interviews, questionnaires, observations and document review. Data was analysed through deductive content analysis. The research made three major findings: (i) the MCCGC, like its principals PPM and Tharisa, does not have an explicit climate change management strategy. Instead, climate change is managed indirectly through implicit strategies seeking to manage environment, health and safety concerns of the mines, (ii) as a contractor, the MCCGC has had to adopt PPM and Tharisa’s implicit approach to climate change management strategies to meet contractual obligations, instead of an explicit approach and, (iii) the MCCGC and its principals’ commitment to environment, health and safety management, and implicitly climate change management, is not mere rhetoric but is being put into practice. The research concluded that MCCGC’s lack of expressed climate change management intentions and practices exposed the firm to climate change risks, most notably financial risks and reputation risks. Financial risks arise from possible ex post climate change liability. In addition, MCCGC is risking its contract tenures, particularly if the two mines change ownership and the new owners insist on an explicit rather than implied climate change strategy with all its suppliers. The plots of Billy Budd and The Bonfire of the Vanities are organized entirely around a lawsuit. In The Pickwick Papers the trial is only a part, though an important one, of a series of related adventures in which the main characters of the novel participate. In the three novels there is a trial in which the accused is found guilty, although he is actually innocent. In The Posthumous Papers of the Club Pickwick, the author’s main purpose is to present the operation of the legal system, in which the modus operandi of unscrupulous lawyers, who rely only on cheating and deceiving methods, is atthe beginning of and determines the outcome of the lawsuit. In Billy Budd, an innocent is sentenced to death in order to preserve a supposed higher interest: the common good. In The Bonfire of the Vanities, political factors, personal interests, resentments and other worldly elements determine the outcome of the trial. In the three cases, the watchmaking mechanism that a lawsuit appears to be is completely overcome by factors outside it. / Las tramas de Billy Budd y La hoguera de las vanidades están organizadas íntegramente alrededor de un juicio. En Los papeles póstumos del Club Pickwick, el proceso es una parte importante de la obra, pero también existen aventuras relacionadas en las que participan los diversos personajes.
