Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / O presente trabalho tem por objetivo traçar breves notas sobre algumas movimentações de drag queens e outras artistas da travestilidade que tiveram lugar na cidade do Rio de Janeiro, nos anos de 2009 e 2010. Através de um trabalho de observação participante, foram selecionados alguns locais e espetáculos que poderiam ser representativos desta categoria artística, não se pretendendo um levantamento extenso sobre quem são e onde estão tais artistas. Nomeio como artistas da travestilidade aqueles corpos que têm o ato de travestir-se como central em sua construção artístico-cultural, principalmente construindo corporalidades baseadas em um gênero diferente daquele identificado socialmente no nascimento, como drag queens, atores transformistas, travestis e transexuais artistas. Apoiando-me em pressupostos dos métodos cartográfico e etnográfico assumi, nesta dissertação, o posicionamento de um pesquisador-espectador, objetivando o contato com aquilo que drag queens e outras artistas da travestilidade desejam tornar público, ou seja, seus shows e espetáculos. Acompanhei diversas apresentações deste tipo em teatros, boates, bares e clubes de bairro, bem como em outros locais nos quais se fizeram presentes, como na Parada do Orgulho LGBT do Rio de Janeiro e em alguns blocos do carnaval carioca. Tendo ainda como campo de diálogo alguns postulados da Esquizoanálise vertente teórica fundamentada principalmente nas contribuições de Gilles Deleuze e Félix Guattari , pretendi situar e afirmar as drag queens e a arte da travestilidade dentro dos estudos de gênero e sexualidade, principalmente aqueles mais diretamente relacionados às manifestações de uma subcultura camp e cultura gay e/ou homossexual. / This paper aims to draw some brief notes on the contemporary drag queens' and other female impersonators artists movements, following what took place in the city of Rio de Janeiro during the years 2009 and 2010. Through a study of participant observation, I selected some sites and shows that could be representative of this art category, not intending to make an extensive survey of where they are or who these artists are. I name female impersonators artists those bodies which have the act of transvestiting themselves as central to their artistic and cultural construction/constitution, particularly building up corporalities based on a gender which is distinct from the birth-socially-identified one, e.g. drag queens, crossdresser actors, transvestites and transgender artists. Based on cartographic and ethnographic methods, I took the position of a spectator, that is, of a researcher-spectator, aiming at a connection with what drag queens and impersonators artists wish to make public, i.e., their concerts and shows. I followed various performances of this kind in theaters, nightclubs, bars and neighborhood clubs, as well as in other places in which they were present, as in Rio de Janeiro's LGBT Pride Parade and in some groups of Rio's carnival. Having also as a field of dialogue some postulates of Schizoanalysis - the theoretical model based mainly on contributions from Gilles Deleuze and Felix Guattari -, I meant to situate and affirm the drag queens and the female impersonation art within the studies of gender and sexuality, especially within those more closely related to manifestations of a camp subculture and gay or homosexual culture.

Events and circumstances that accompany crises such as losses of loved ones, losses of material resources, dislocation, or physical harm, have an overall negative impact on people's mental health. It is this impaired state of man which makes him vulnerable to manipulation of social engineers who wants to take advantage of him in order to enrich themselves. This was also the case of the COVID-19 pandemic, the unprecedented crisis in modern history, during which phishing and fraud campaigns rapidly increased as people have been forced to stay safe at home and spent most of a day online. This work analyzes the psychological strategies of cybercriminals on a sample of more than 200 phishing e-mails in order to understand how the situation was abused and what can be learnt to prevent it in the future. It also provides theoretical and research frameworks for researchers who can apply it also on other types of crises. The results contribute to the fields of psychology, cybercrime as well as crisis management. Simulating ADS-B vulnerabilities by imitating aircrafts : Using an air traffic management simulator / Simulering av ADS-B sårbarheter genom imitering av flygplan : Med hjälp av en flyglednings simulator

Air traffic communication is one of the most vital systems for air traffic management controllers. It is used every day to allow millions of people to travel safely and efficiently across the globe. But many of the systems considered industry-standard are used without any sort of encryption and authentication meaning that they are vulnerable to different wireless attacks. In this thesis vulnerabilities within an air traffic management system called ADS-B will be investigated. The structure and theory behind this system will be described as well as the reasons why ADS-B is unencrypted. Two attacks will then be implemented and performed in an open-source air traffic management simulator called openScope. ADS-B data from these attacks will be gathered and combined with actual ADS-B data from genuine aircrafts. The collected data will be cleaned and used for machine learning purposes where three different algorithms will be applied to detect attacks. Based on our findings, where two out of the three machine learning algorithms used were able to detect 99.99% of the attacks, we propose that machine learning algorithms should be used to improve ADS-B security. We also think that educating air traffic controllers on how to detect and handle attacks is an important part of the future of air traffic management.

Female Impersonation and Patriarchal Resilience in Early Stuart England

<p>In seeking to explain why male authors assumed female pseudonyms in seventeenth-century literature, this dissertation explores male-to-female cross-dressing in Jacobean drama, effeminizing representations of parliament in Civil War propaganda, and parodies of women’s sexualized, political speech during the Interregnum and Restoration periods. My dissertation concludes that the sexualized female persona evolved over the course of the seventeenth century as a vehicle through which male authors could critique rival iterations of patriarchal hierarchy forwarded by Stuart kings and by parliament without challenging their own positions of masculine privilege within those hierarchies.</p> <p>My first chapter explores the political critiques of Jacobean absolutism embedded in the cross-gender performance narratives of Ben Jonson’s <em>Epicoene </em>(1609)<em> </em>and the anonymous play <em>Swetnam the Woman-Hater </em>(1620). In my second chapter I link male-to-female drag’s ability to critique an absolutist patriarchal paradigm to the satirical attacks on parliamentary models of polyvocal patriarchal rule in 1640s print. My final chapter investigates how female authors often find themselves shut out of the political discussions that female impersonations spark by taking up Sarah Jinner’s almanacs of 1658-60. Jinner’s almanacs combine predictions of rampant sexual wantonness with a critique of the waning Protectorate regime. I examine how the pseudonymous response to those almanacs from “Sarah Ginnor” depoliticizes Jinner’s sexual commentary on the Protectorate government.</p> / Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)

Detta arbete syftar till att utforska hur övning på fiol kan designas för att den ska kännas meningsfull och effektiv. Studiens forskningsfråga är: Vilka semiotiska resurser använder jag mig av när jag övar terser på fiol? För att undersöka detta har jag under ett år gjort tekniska övningar med hjälp av olika övningsstrategier för att se progressionen i min utvecklingsprocess. Studiens metod är videoobservation och loggboksskrivande och arbetet utgår från ett designteoretiskt perspektiv. Resultatet presenteras i två teman: Semiotiska resurser för dokumentation och Semiotiska resurser för motivation och progression. I diskussionen problematiserar, belyser och jämför jag studiens slutsatser med forskning och litteratur inom området. / The purpose of this study is to explore how practice can be designed in a meaningful and effective way. The research question is: What kind of semiotic resources do I use during practice thirds on the violin? The study is based on technical exercises used over a period of one year, the used method is video observations and logbook notes and the perspective is design theoretical. Two themes are presented as result: Semiotic resources for documentation and Semiotic resources for motivation and progression. In the last chapter, I discuss, problematize and compare the result with literature and research in the field.

An Empirical Study of Authentication Methods to Secure E-learning System Activities Against Impersonation Fraud

Studies have revealed that securing Information Systems (IS) from intentional misuse is a concern among organizations today. The use of Web-based systems has grown dramatically across industries including e-commerce, e-banking, e-government, and e learning to name a few. Web-based systems provide e-services through a number of diverse activities. The demand for e-learning systems in both academic and non-academic organizations has increased the need to improve security against impersonation fraud. Although there are a number of studies focused on securing Web-based systems from Information Systems (IS) misuse, research has recognized the importance of identifying suitable levels of authenticating strength for various activities. In e-learning systems, it is evident that due to the variation in authentication strength among controls, a ‘one size fits all’ solution is not suitable for securing diverse e-learning activities against impersonation fraud. The main goal of this study was to use the framework of the Task-Technology Fit (TTF) theory to conduct an exploratory research design to empirically investigate what levels of authentication strength users perceive to be most suitable for activities in e-learning systems against impersonation fraud. This study aimed to assess if the ‘one size fits all’ approach mainly used nowadays is valid when it comes to securing e-learning activities from impersonation fraud. Following the development of an initial survey instrument (Phase 1), expert panel feedback was gathered for instrument validity using the Delphi methodology. The initial survey instrument was adjusted according to feedback (Phase 2). The finalized Web-based survey was used to collect quantitative data for final analyses (Phase 3). This study reported on data collected from 1,070 e-learners enrolled at a university. Descriptive statistics was used to identify what e-learning activities perceived by users and what users perceived that their peers would identify to have a high potential for impersonation. The findings determined there are a specific set of e-learning activities that high have potential for impersonation fraud and need a moderate to high level of authentication strength to reduce the threat. Principal Component Analysis was used to identify significant components of authentication strength to be suitable against the threats of impersonation for e-learning activities.
